Did the HIIT for the upper body yesterday. Will do full body HIIT today, as I am working through 14 days of exercise bundle on Amazon Prime.

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah: it's a double holiday at my home....today I am enjoying the challenge of cooking an entire holiday meal, turkey and the trimmings, with no oven other than a small convection/toaster oven, (long story on the oven being off, but I do have a nice stove top fortunately)...and a grill. The turkey is on the grill (I've done that many times), the stuffing is in the convection oven, with rolls to follow, and everything else will be stove top, although no baked goods for dessert: we had way too many pastries from my favorite bakery for breakfast, and Santa brought me some really nice chocolates in my stocking and a colleague gave me a nice bottle of port: so port and chocolates: a perfect dessert!

oh yeah, exercise: well it snowed this morning, but it is partly sunny now, and the snow is melting fast...we got in one walk and hoping to get in a second walk before dinner. There is a bigger snow storm coming Friday, and I can't wait to break out the snowshoes for the season!

    Happy Holidays to all!

Congrats on finishing rads, Octo! Cute photos, Claire, Ruth and Lilac.

No Christmas skiing for us but a walk on a nature reserve around a lake with DC (darling canine).

Will do dishes in a bit. Might even do hubby’s laundry today if I feel up to it. Still dragging from doing all the cooking yesterday.

Did a killer 20 minute ab routine today (I love Cathe Friedrich's DVDs, she's tough), then a 3 mile run.

My yoga studio takes an extended holiday, so have got a 12 pack of classes at our Club Pilates studio to use over the recess...they only take off Christmas Day and New Years Day. Off to a 4:30 class soon.

Holiday wishes to all who are celebrating, now three at the same time with Kwanza!

We had a quiet Christmas ...one of our traditions is to save our incoming cards and open them as a group after dinner (with a glass of wine!) This is turning out to be bittersweet...too many deaths and illnesses. I have been teaching college for 32 years, which leaves me with a good number of my original students in their early/mid fifties...now my students (not their parents) are having health issues!

Off to gym to fight off the two holiday dinners we had yesterday...Christmas Dinner at lunch time...and then left overs of same for evening dinner! TT

Hi ladies, Christmas Day I got up, did 45 minutes on the treadmill, and spent the rest of the day reading, watching Christmas movies, eating leftovers, and nothing else. Since that is a very rare day for me, it was quite enjoyable!

We had about 7 inches of snow overnight so this morning, instead of an exercise class, I spent an hour shoveling out. We took the snow dog for a walk this afternoon and I'll go to Dance2fit and yoga tonight.

Hi Everyone! Loving all the pictures and reports from you fabulous ladies! Octo: congratulations on finishing rads!

I've been out of commission with a freaking kidney stone! The pain started on December 11. Went to the er in the middle of the night. CT came back that the stone is 5mm x 7mm. The pain even has a name. It's called Renal Colic Pain and it is as bad as it sounds. If you've had a kidney stone you know what I mean!

Was going to have it crushed but it had moved too low for that procedure. Long story short, on Christmas Eve I had outpatient surgery to remove it and a stent inserted. The stent comes out Monday and I CAN'T WAIT! Smile

I had a stone 10 years ago that also brought me to the er. At that time I thought it was my appendix bc I didn't know I had a stone.

The timing is never right to be sick (we all know that). But this could have happened to me when our group met in Santa Fe. It could have happened to me when we go on a short vacation soon. Instead it happened when I gather inspiration and gratitude from my Christmas tree and decorations. My Christmas tree has always given me peace and it has definitely soothed me during these rough times.

I know I'll return to walking/running soon and so looking forward to it. All the Christmas goodies are going straight to my butt! Ugh!

Oh Wonderland, sorry to read of your recent surgery. Take good care and I'm glad the timing was right with the festive spirit keeping you lifted and calm.

Pilates at mid-day and two hours after in the studio of running through BodyBalance/Flow #87 to deliver tomorrow morning.

    Wonderland, get lots of rest!

I did a lot of cooking this morning, making turkey soup and homemade applesauce to pair with the latkes we are having for dinner tonight.....and may see if I can do gingerbread in the oven too! But all that food means I really need more exercise (even though I am trying to rest of from rads still). Heading out for a long walk shortly and hoping the expected snow doesn't cut it short!

Yeouch, Wonderland! If it had to happen, I'm glad it didn't while you were on a vacation. That would add insult to injury.

I overslept my Aqua Zumba class this morning (which has never happened before so I must have been tired). I went to Nidra at 11:00 and just got back from a Snow Dog walk. We're going to the new Star Wars movie tonight. We are in the path of another big storm, just in time for the weekend. Sigh.....

barre3 online workouts both today and yesterday. I am still in PT for elbow and arm issues on my BC side, and the barre3 workouts have been really helping my arm heal. Tomorrow hopefully back to the gym for leg day!

Got up & shoveled, went to yoga, came home & shoveled, went out to brunch, visited our old lady friends at the nursing home, came home & shoveled, will go to a basketball game & no doubt will come home and shovel. It's still snowing and the wind of supposed to start howling later tonight, so tomorrow may be an 'at home' day.

We've got the rain version of your weather, ruthbru. It's raining hard, and we may have tornado watches/warnings tonight. Crazy insane Midwest weather.

Went for a long brisk walk today in between very light snow showers, then came home and shoveled snow myself! Not that it was anything like you had to deal with, Ruth: we got maybe an inch or two, and the only reason I had to shovel at all was to clear a path to the hot tub, which is on the shaded side of the house! (However, it is admittedly cold here, with a low tonight of around 15F expected....and I did have to wear my beanie in the hot tub to keep my head warm. I know, not the same....but it is Northern New Mexico's version of winter. and yes, I am very glad to finally be home!)

Hello from the snow globe! We are in the middle of a blizzard here. Everything is shut down including 200 miles of interstate. We had 14 inches of snow by 10:30 this morning & it is still snowing and blowing like crazy. It will continue to do so until sometime tomorrow........so we are all trapped indoors with the Christmas leftovers. I did an hour toning DVD with Denise Austin, walked on the treadmill for 20 minutes but got bored and found some dancing routines on Utube instead.

Here is the view out my front door. Do you want to come over and help me shove out tomorrow?

I would love to come and help you shovel, Ruth! It would mean great skiing, and I really am quite expert, learning this skill at a very tender age. I suspect that you will burn off much of the holiday feasting over the next several days.

Just 10k of running today. Finished the leftover lamb for lunch and now roasting some potatoes and some sweet potatoes that had to be used up this very minute. Also had leftover tomato soup for lunch. I am going to attempt leek and potato tomorrow in my soup maker. I found brats in the freezer, I think from my early September vineyard camping trip. I got a sampler of goodies for Christmas including some amazing mustard. Should be a fabulous dinner. (Other items are roast potatoes and creamed spinach.)

Got a fair amount of work done today including my Q4 estimated taxes so I know what amount to put on my check due January 15. Got a major chunk of other work done to help fund Q1 and my 2020 travels.

Hope to get my car back tomorrow, but at least the bus runs on Weekdays so not quite as "grounded". There are benefits to living next door to a good supermarket! - Claire

    Please do!

I flat could not face the wind chill this morning--when the temp difference is more than 10 degrees between bulb and wind chill, that's a lot of wind. So instead of running, I did an hour of HIIT.

Welcome 2teach! We have several teachers who hang out here, including me (retired but still sub). What do you teach?

I'm watching the news which says we have already gotten 26 inches of snow, with 1-3 more to go. Argh!!!! Claire, you can come help shovel but your skiing would have to be cross country, because we don't have any mountains for you.

My exercise will be shoveling and some sort of execise DVD. My gym is closed and I am sad because tonight my yoga class was going to be an end-of-the-year guided meditation.

Ruth, with snow like that, you need snowshoes! You could put them on in the house and just walk back and forth to the street to start the path you will need to shovel....You got this!

It is sunny here but ten degrees this am, so we've got a fire going and I am enjoying coffee and the winter break....will get outdoors but I think I will wait until it warms up a bit. My wonderful, generous boss gave me a REI gift certificate as a Christmas/end of year present, and yesterday I used it to order new heavier weight thermal underwear and some fleece pants: I don't want any excuses not to get outside here in Northern New Mexico. I've got the snowshoes, we just need a bit more snow. (but no, we don't need the level of snow that ND got!).

    Welcome 2teach!

thanks for the warm welcome. I teach 2nd grade and am enjoying my break. I decided to start my AIs now in case I had a rough start. Feeling a bit queasy but not too bad. I may make today a rest day. I ran 5 miles yesterday swam and lifted the days before.

Glad you are home Octo, hope your strength returns quickly.

Sorry to hear about your emergency surgery Wonderland - hope you are back on your feet again soon.

Well, had a really wonderful Christmas, but the house is empty again, and quiet. Now time to get ready to leave in about 10 days for our 3 month RV trip down south. I have been doing classical stretch, which has really been helping with my shoulder, and Saturday got out for a lovely 3 mile walk. But I am still so out of shape. One of the real eye opening things about our RV trip last year was how much time you spend sitting - lots of driving! This year I really need to keep some regular exercise in my life while on the trip. I bought a set of classical stretch DVD's, and I'm going to bring a resistance band too. I haven't used that in quite some time, but I seem to remember spark people had a lot of exercise videos using the band.

Raining like the dickens here today, but grateful it's not snow - poor Ruth!

Yes, poor me. Here is the sidewalk I dug out to get to the front door. Our snowblower died after two swipes down the driveway, but luckily our wonderful neighbor saw us shoveling and borrowed us his. Otherwise we'd still be out there! We still can't actually go anywhere yet as the snow plows haven't been by. Sigh!! I just did 45 minutes on the treadmill & will now put in a pilates DVD.

Have fun on your trip, Pat. Swing by, pick me up, and take me south with you! Loopy

High on steroids today, last dose, being that last AC infusion was Friday. Walked several miles in rain and gusting wind. Cleaned up from Christmas including floors. I'll be exhausted tomorrow, but it got done. Made cookies, and banana bread. Hate the effects of steroids but hopefully the last. Mammo this Thursday with Ultrasound, trial drug on Friday. then 4 weeks off before surgery. Feb. 5th localizer, February, lymph node highlighter and then partial right mastectomy with bilateral breast reconstruction. Lots going on
