Got in a 6 mile run this morning before getting in the car and driving to Tulsa. I'm still having a lot of discomfort under my left ribs, enough that I have to briefly walk several times. This isn't a stitch in my side kind of pain and I wish it would go away.

I'm back home in New Mexico, yay!!! Resting up and getting ready for a quiet holiday. Today's exercise was mostly unpacking, grocery shopping and a little bit of house cleaning....hubby did a good job while I was gone, but still more to do to get ready for the holidays..... The sun is out, and heading out for a walk to check out the neighborhood soon.

    Glad you're home, Octo!!

Hello all. I was recently diagnosed. I began a holistic approach to tackling my situation, which involves exercise. For the last three days, I've walked 2 miles or 3 consistently each day. Since I live in MN, getting outside can be difficult, so I have inside options. But the weather here has been cooperative, so I will go outside when I can.

    Welcome Amy!

Went for a chilly walk yesterday with a good friend. Weather is warming a tad here, which will be nice for a few days.

Octo, so pleased you are back home with dh in NM and moving forward. Amy. welcome and good going on the walking.

Son arrived home on Friday from uni and our dog is ecstatic and so am I. Baking a birthday cake for him this afternoon as he turns 21 tomorrow...where does the time go? Pilates class in a bit at the spa with chocolates for everyone who attends as a little take-away treat. Let's keep at it (even if not so secretly grazing on chocolate..the festive season is my downfall, no doubt about it)!

amywlt71 welcome! The right gear makes all the difference, that's for sure. I live in Kansas which while not as far north as MN or Ruth in ND still has some brutally cold weather. I've been able to run in subzero temps by using layered technical (wicking) running clothes. If you don't have stuff like that for your walks and want to keep the costs down, you can usually find good options at Old Navy.

Got in a 9 mile run this morning. We're in Tulsa so I ran along the river, there's a great trail system. It was so lovely and quiet in the dark.

Hello, my friends! How did I miss this topic for so long is a mystery to me.

I've been exercising steadily for the past 10 years, but during my treatment I found that if I do some type of activity every day, I feel much better.

So here it goes: 1 hour of Zumba yesterday and 1 hour of yoga today. Do all of my classes following Amazon Prime exercise videos, thus skipping the cost of gym.

Hi Inna! I also feel that whatever physical activity you can manage during treatment will help you get through it better (both physically & mentally), and it will definitely help you bounce back quicker once you are done.

I am going to Yoga & Barre Sculpt again today.

I did a six mile run today as no snow for skiing. Did I mention the pea soup fog??? This has turned to rain, but I had a dry run after two days in a row of getting soaked. I thought of doing a bicycle ride, but bailed with the fog.

Then back to get my Christmas Pudding steaming operation up and running. The first 3 are steaming away, just in time to take in for my work colleagues tomorrow am. I have one that I am going to ship to a friend not far away. The second batch will go in the steaming kettle tomorrow evening, so will be just fine for Christmas. The remainder will need to wait, hopefully get started on those Christmas eve.

But these are to be delivered at some time during the Christmas season, so all is well.

Snowing in the mountains again. Dare I hope for some Christmas skiing??? Would be lovely.

Still hoping for some good skiing.... A girl can wish. Meanwhile, I had beers with a friend the other evening. Below is the most fun selfie ever! Hohoho!!!!- Claire

Did another chilly walk today. I should have added another layer due to temps so I cut it slightly short.

    Cute selfie Claire!

Inna any recommended videos on Prime? I've done Leslie Sansone but no others yet.

Mid 60s in Denver today - normal is mid 40s. It didn't feel as warm today as it did yesterday - Sat outside yesterday afternoon reading and soaking up the sun.

1st night of Chanukah. Just DH and me. Grilled chicken wings and potato latkes. Cheated a little this year as I used hash browns then grated onion added egg, flour baking powder and salt/pepper. It didn't seem like work - but then again last year I made over 100 as I cold for a friend and her family!!

Good walking day - over 19K. Looking at my numbers from last week and there were 3 days that I didn't even get to 10K - the least walking in I don't know how long. Now that I'm on winter break, I need to step up the pace!!

Reader, I like yoga coaches Julia Marie, Julia Jarvis and Lindsey Samper. There are a lot of videos with them. For Pilates, there are too many classes to list. Just type in Pilates in the search bar and you’ll see all of them. I do Ultimate Pilates now. I also got a rebounder (mini trampoline) and do classes with Lindsey Bushman, I think. Zumba party is the name of the video I do for Zumba. The rest are not free. I also like Doonya the Bollywood dancer videos - surprisingly difficult workout. Various HIIT classes- don’t remember the names. All of them are challenging!

I'll also call out Five Parks Yoga w/ Erin Sampson on YouTube. She's got free ones there that are excellent. in fact, I did her Yoga for Runners this morning.

    Welcome to Amy and Inna.

pat- so sorry to read about your friend. What a shock for all of you. It’s so hard to know what to say sometimes a visit and a hug breaks the ice

Martaj- I live in northeast ct and we go down to westerly and watch hill in the summer. I love Napatree Point. So beautiful there. We have also enjoyed some of the tunes on the dunes concerts.

Octo- congratulations on being done with rads! Enjoy being home

Lilac- the Y here has just added les MillsBody Combat. I am trying a class tomorrow morning. Fingers are crossed that I survive...

Finally on school break. December was a crazy month. We have had 4 snow days and 2 delayed openings. In the world of preschool this many inconsistent days does not lend itself to smooth days. Here’s to a less snowy start to January.

Now that I am on break, I can exercise in the morning. Zumba on Saturday and water fitness followed by Zumba this morning.

Ginger - happy winter break...no kidding about snow days messing up ECE but also not great at any great level, though I do enjoy one every now and again (one/year).

I use messenger on FB but don't check the "other messages"...for some reason I did today and there was a message from a long ago friend....she saw BHG article that I was in, in the October issue....She told me she is a 2 year survivor. It was nice to connect again. I have often thought about her, but I had lost her contact information.

Leaving early, early tomorrow morning to see DD#2. I was actually packed more than 24 hours before leaving. Often I don't finish untill late, late and then I'm stressed to the max. But I'm not as bad as my DD#2 who generally finishes packing 5 minutes before the taxi arrives.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah, Happy Kwanza and whatever you celebrate, and all the best for only good in 2020.

    Very cute picture, Claire!

    Enjoy your break, Ginger!

    Safe traveling, Karen!

I did the last/last/last minute shopping today; including putting a good amount of money in the Salvation Army Kettles, and dropping off a check and a bunch of dog/cat blankets at the Humane Society. I like to donate to these two groups as 100% of the money stays local. I walked my snow dog this afternoon. You know she's part Husky because she bounds through the snow like a giant rabbit, climbs snow hills and slides down, buries her whole head in the snow. So funny! I will go to Zumba and Yoga tonight. Right now I have to check on the 20lb turkey in the fridge to see if it's actually defrosting.

Ruth - 20# turkey - I don't think I've ever cooked a turkey that big! I went to return something at Target and saw the parking lot and said thanks but no thanks - same with the grocery store gas station - I have just under 1/2 tank so it should be good.

Decided to treat myself to a manicure - my nails are so brittle and split and break so easily. I've been taking Biotin but I wonder if it is doing anything. But since I won't be much cooking, the polish will last longer. Haven't decided if I want to get a color, like blue or go very pale. I generally only get a mani/pedi in the summer months and a mani if I'm traveling so only a few times/year.

So happy to connect with my old gf. Feels like we picked up where we left off. We were sailing buddies (her words) back in Ohio. We sailed 16 foot Hobie Cats on a man made lake just north of Columbus. She is a retired teacher.

Ruth - your snow dog is gorgeous!!! I miss having a dog, but not quite ready and yet we want to do rescue so it will take time to find the right fur baby.

Since Karen likes the puppy picture, here is another one. I may soon be the 'grandmother' of a second canine. The little dog in some of my photos belongs to DS's roommate, who just bought a house and will be moving in February. DS thinks his dog will be too sad without a doggy companion, so we shall see.

Got in a 10k run this AM--it's oddly warm here today. High will be 63 today and 64 tomorrow. The National Weather Service said when Santa comes to KC tomorrow, he should probably wear a hoodie.

Four us walking women walked today (a pre-Wednesday walk) and I then went to Pound. I will now tackle the dressing & make the potatoes (which I put in the crock pot on low for the rest of the day). Turkey goes in the oven at 12:45. I am trying to stay out of the Christmas cookies until tonight. Yum!

Hope everyone has the wonderful holiday of your choice with friends, family, food, and fun!

I got behind in reading and just caught up. Inna and edj, thank you for the video recommendations. I'm actually sick of overeating and over-holidaying....ready to get back into a better exercise groove.

    Happy holidays to all! ❤
