karen1956 we have those winds now in Kansas City. I'm super glad our leaves got hauled away on Monday, otherwise we would have a gigantic mess.

Lilac, I've been seeing those photos in The Guardian, it's just crazy there. My sister's in the Chichester area and so far hasn't gotten COVID herself, although her 21 y/o daughter did. Avalon (daughter) lives in London so I'm sure her exposure was greater.

Did my 2 minute plank today for day 23 and for the first time started wondering if I could actually get to 3 minutes. This is tough!

The ND storm went north of us but the wind is here. It's supposed to be warm today with afternoon rain so will get out soon for my walk. Temps drop then rain changes to snow tonight.

60-sec plank on straight arms then 30 more on elbows. I'm behind the plan but still giving it a go. :-)

I can hardly imagine that I will be at 3 minutes by the end of next week. Whew!

Karen, North Dakota is putting teachers in the tier right after the medical personnel, police officers, fire fighters etc. etc. and the 75 year plus population, so they may be getting theirs by the end of January/early February.

We didn't get much snow but the wind is gusting to 50mph so we have a blizzard warning for the whole day. One can probably travel around town but it would be very dangerous out in the country.

I did the dreaded 2 minute plank right when I got up, and will either do an indoor walking DVD or treadmill for awhile. My fitness center has a Barre class & Dance2fit class I'd like to go to on the schedule for this evening. If they aren't cancelled, I will go to them.

Karen: My sister is a teacher in Colorado, and her school just had a bus driver die of COVID. Just because the kids are lower risk doesn't mean they can't spread it to more vulnerable adults -- especially when the kids are in large groups!

I did a strength training session today, including planks. Can only do them briefly, and have to do forearm planks die to my wrist issues. Tomorrow hope to get a lot more meters on the erg for my holiday challenge (have done 110,000 so far since thanksgiving, challenge ends tomorrow and is for charity) then have Zoom personal torture training session for an hour.

I am in line for COVID vaccine, could get it next week but since the end is in sight for my current treatment (last infusion next week) I am going to wait for my counts to recover and get it 3 weeks later. Since I am front-line health care worker and employee health knows about my chemo, I am confident I will get it soon. Trying to stay safe and healthy until then!

Everyone have a very Merry Christmas, after your feats of strength for Festivus today! Will be nasty here with high winds and rain (on our 3 feet of snow) then flash freezing so roads will be skating rinks and luge runs.

Yes - agreed just because kids are lower risk, says nothing about school personnel. I guess we are dispensable. Sorry to hear about the bus driver. Where does your sister teacher. I'm in Denver, School Psychologist. What do you do as a health care worker? You be safe and take care of yourself. Where are you at? Sorry for all the questions and I apologize if I'm being nosy!

Wonder - have fun cooking tomorrow. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Ruth - love the collage of the WWW.

Took a car load to donate - next task is to take the artwork we are sure we are okay with giving away - some was my folks, some ours that we took down over the year. Where I donate, will take the artwork. They give all the items away - help set up apartments, clothing (DH gave away 6 or 7 suits that are now too big on him). I have couple coats that I should give away - just need to try them on again - my raincoat with a lining is 2 sizes too big. Need to see about the wool coat. I don't think my daughters will wear them. Younger daughter doesn't like coats and older daughter is several inches shorter than me so they would probably be too long on her, but I'll ask anyway. And then again, when will I be seeing them. Not anytime soon, since both their countries are going on lockdown.

It's in the teens - so DH and I are going to bundle up for our walk tonight - snow pants for me and my biggest down coat that I just started wearing again - its from Holubar and probably 40+ years old but I didn't wear for the past 20 years (I think I already told you this). At least it is warming up tomorrow.

    Sweet dreams

Finally on school break! Looking forward to less stress for the next 11 days. We have been in person learning five days a week since September and have just had our first 3 cases this week. 2 are from the same family. Really hoping that people keep their kids home and away from others during break as the plan is to go back full in person on 1/4.

Hope everyone has a great holiday

I hope all teachers will have a wonderful vacation. Be sure to do some things just for yourself!!

Tomorrow I will be busy with the organizing of 'A Holiday Meal' so probably won't have time to pop in, but I just want to say how grateful I am for the gift of your friendships! Heart

Ginger, enjoy your winter break. I was remote pretty much all semester. The whole district went remote after Thanksgiving. The plan is to slowly return to in person during January.

Ruth - have fun cooking. It sounds like what used to be my typical Thanksgiving meal, except yams instead of mashed potatoes and no gravy. This year we smoked 2 turkey legs and 2 turkey necks as I didn't want leftovers forever. I made a pumpkin pie and still have in the freezer.

Found out this morning that we lost a bco friend early morning 12/23 Australia time. She was a spunky lady who traveled America staying and visiting with all her bco friends. Chrissy, you'll be missed but you will live on in our hearts forever.

Happy Christmas Eve to all who celebrate.

Off work today and tomorrow! Hooray!

The house is a mess, the tree isn't decorated, the presents aren't wrapped, but at least I have an extra day to get ready.

I took advantage and slept in, but have a 90 minute casual Zoom erg session this afternoon, followed by an hour long 60 minute Zoom personal training! After which I suspect I won't be able to stand up, so I had better get to the cleaning soon!

Hello guys, this will actually be my first post here, so why not start with talking about my "little exercise". First of all, I always start the day with 2 drops of CBD as this helps me a lot, and then instantly after I start my daily walk. This walk is always somewhere different but mostly around 40/60 minutes to get going. When I went back in took a nice ginger tea to warm me up, since its really cold where I live. Then I went on the internet and ended up here, so hello guys!

Karen, here in NM the State Health Dept has a website where you enter information, and based on that they will notify you when it is your turn to get the shot. I am going to register (though I am probably fairly far down the list) to get the notification, and they've been much better than many if not most states on COVID issues, so I trust them. Anyway, you might want to check and see if CO has something similar: look at the state Dept of Health, not county.

I will be cooking a New Mexican style meal today for Christmas eve for my sis, who lives in town, and for hubby and me: Tamales (sis is bringing those, a requirement in these parts), albondigas soup, noche buena salad, and homemade eggnog (thanks to hubby) and cookies for dessert. Sis is staying over since we live about fifteen miles apart and there *will* be bourbon or rum in the eggnog. Then Friday for Christmas (more hubby's holiday than mine or my sis') we will have rack of lamb, mashed potatoes, brussell sprouts, and chocolate pecan pie. Yum! Too many leftovers likely here, the way I like it! and yes, we have a long hike planned for Christmas Day as a way to walk part of it off!

I hope all have a peaceful, healthy holiday, Merry Christmas for all who celebrate and a very, very Happy, Healthy, Peaceful New Year to us all! I am so grateful to have you all in my life, even if only virtually. My 2021 Resolution is to meet more of you IRL. Here's to a New Year!

    Love;

    Octogirl

Welcome, Kiya, to this very fun and busy thread!

Karen, I forgot to mention the yams, which are also part of my menu. I am so sorry to hear about Chrissy. I never met her on her travels but know several people (including Badger) who did.

My fitness center closes at noon today, but I see has a Pound class at 9 am, so I think I will take it before I start all the food preparation. I will also do the dreaded 2 minute, 15 second plank. I am glad tomorrow is a day off from that!

Welcome KiyaQuintero! Some of us do a lot and some of do a little but all exercise is good.

Karen, thanks for sharing the news about ChrissyB. I did indeed meet her when she took her epic trip to America. I drove to the Lake of the Ozarks to meet up with a bunch of BCO sisters gathered there. It was a long drive but, hey, she came all the way from Australia. Chrissy was a lovely human being who will be missed on this Earth.

Glad I walked yesterday morning. The temp dropped 20 degrees by the afternoon and another 20 overnight. It was 50 at noon yesterday, 30 at 5 PM, and 10 this morning (minus 10 with the wind chill). BRRRR! I'm going to do my plank but probably not venture outdoors for any length of time. Talked to my SIL in Houston yesterday and got some good advice about treadmills. Her situation is opposite than mine - HOT summers versus COLD winters.

KiyaQuintero welcome! I don't use CBD oil, but do use CBD ointment (isolate). I live in Kansas and full spectrum is illegal here but isolate is allowed.

Got my 2 minute plank done today followed by an hour of weights for lower body. It's much too cold to run today, mostly because of the wind. It's funny, I can and have run in zero weather, but it was still. Running in the single digits plus wind? No thank you!

    Welcome Kiya.

edj - I'm going try CBD cream for my elbow. I woke up this morning hurting and it is sore if I even try to life anything. I don't want to use oil as I just want something when it is hurting. Yesterday it wasn't so bad.

Badger, I met Chrissy when she was in Colorado.

Octo - I will see CO has a similar site. I don't know what some of your food items are for tonight, but sounds like lots of cooking is going on.

DH and I went through all the artwork and I took it to where I donate. They were so happy to have it. While I was in DD#2 bedroom where we put a lot of the artwork, I found more costume jewelry!!! I didn't know my mother had so much. Or maybe I forgot. I had 2 ziplock bags on DD#2 bed but found this box on the floor. Didn't feel like taking the time to go through it, just wanted to get the artwork out since it takes up so much more room.

When I was dusting the top of the china cabinet, I saw more painted pottery that DD and I did when she was younger. I can't believe how much we made. I have some on a coffee table and below the glass part of the china cabinet. I'm sure, DD won't take any of what she made!!

Lots to throw out in the furnace room - mostly old boxes and other stuff we put away and forgot about. And the crawl space is another whole story. As much as I did this summer, there is more to donate. Stuff I haven't used in years.

Everyone who is cooking have fun! All the best for a joyful Christmas.

Planked, went to a Christmas Eve Fun Flow yoga and just back from a walk with DH to the public library (closed - good for them!) to drop off some books.

The strong weather is approaching us here in SE Virginia...it is currently 66, but we expect strong storms/tornado activity from 6-10pm and then a high of only 40 tomorrow.

For all those celebrating, Merry Christmas. Be safe and find a way to enjoy the season as weird as it has been. TT

DS & the grand-puppies came over this morning. We all went for a walk, had a nice lunch, worked on a puzzle together (a tradition) & then he took off to spend the rest of the weekend with his girlfriend's family. We are dog sitting, so most of our exercise from now until Sunday will involve dogs (we just got back from a long walk....glad that the weather is cooperating!)

Here's a link to the vegan eggnog recipe--pls note that if you don't have a Vitamix, you'll want to strain the final product otherwise it will be grainy.

Nice Christmas tree, badger. Such cute doggies, Ruth

I'm sorry to hear about Chrissyb. She was an icon at the Stage IV threads and had been off treatment and doing well. Stupid cancer. Also am sad about pajim, another metser, who I just learned passed away in April. I got to meet pajim in Boston and had drinks with her.

Have been snowshoeing and hiking. Today just a 40 minute walk as it was a bit too cold out for me. Did a HIIT workout at home.
