Hope you had a smooth travel day, Karen. It will be a little too quiet without a little one around.

Wonderland, have they scheduled your procedure yet?

I went to a weight lifting class & walked around the track for awhile this morning. We are going out to dinner with a couple friend of ours this evening, but plan to be home & in my pajamas by 9:30. Tomorrow, DS/DIL and two of their friends are coming over for lunch & an afternoon of playing games. DS has gotten interested in family history, which is thrilling to me. And the incentive I need to get out the information I've gathered over the years and get it organized into some sort of a system that makes sense. DS has found that Shirley Temple is a far distant relative (like my 11th cousin). The sister of my grandfather's great-grandfather married a Mr. Temple & she is their descendant. All rather mind boggling!

Next time I check in it will be 2025. Hoping for a Healthy, happy new year for us all!

    Happy New Year everyone!

Despite being sick and traveling a bit in both Nov and Dec for work, I did meet the annual fitness goal game my gym does each year at this time…crazy since I was out of pocket 3+ weeks of the two month challenge…just think what I could do if I stayed healthy (and focused!)

My school is taking an extended leave given the Wed holiday, but crazily final grades for the fall semester are due tomorrow…so as dept head, I have been tele-working trying to get folks past their computer difficulties with electronic gradesheets and computer access issues that…unsurprising to me!…I have no control over nor do I have the computer access to correct. Not sure why my colleagues would think that I do.

2025…just wow, doesn't that number seem huge?!? TT

Karen: I bet you are already missing your precious granddaughter!

Ruth: How exciting that you are related to Shirley Temple. I remember crying so hard watching Little Princess when she finally finds her father at the end of the movie. My sisters are my family genealogists and one of them made awesome Shutterfly books (one for my mom's side and one for my dad's) with all the information and photographs in it. It's invaluable to me. In fact, it's part of my important documents I collect and take downstairs with me whenever we have severe weather warnings.

m0mmy: I have most of my decorations down also. Always a little sad to see them packed up. I miss the Christmas tree bc it smells so good but it was drying out and needed to come down.

TT: Sorry you have been sick and hope you get feeling better soon. Congratulations for meeting your fitness goals. How frustrating trying to correct computer problems for others when you have no control over the situation. I can't imagine.

Happy New Year to all my wonder friends!

Hope everyone had a good first day of 2025! We had a fun New Years Eve dinner with our friends. I know I'm old because we were home by 9:30, and I couldn't even make myself stay up long enough to watch the ball drop in NYC! I danced around for 30 minutes before I got ready for company. DS, DIL, two of their friends, and another family friend, and all the dogs came over for lunch and board games. Everyone left by 5:00, so the evening has been lazy. I host my Book Club on Wednesday & have decided to leave my decorations up until then.

Good luck with the computer glitches, TT. So frustrating!!

Friday I went to the pilates/stretch class. Today I walked around the track at my fitness center & went to yoga. It is very cold here; but not icy or storming so I better not complain too much!

Ruth: Your New Year's day sounds like fun. I can't believe how cold your weather is. BRRR

Ds, partner, and granddaughter were supposed to visit today but his partner wasn't feeling well so they are postponing to tomorrow unless she still doesn't feel well. I don't want them to come unless all feel good.

Today dd came over and we ran some errands. She and I are best friends and I love every time we get together. For Christmas I gave her and my sil tickets to see Hamilton. The play was yesterday and they had the best time. Dd had seen it once before and earlier this year when I saw it was coming around again I asked her if she would like to see it again. She was thrilled when I told her that I would buy tickets as their Christmas present.

Well I did stay up to see the ball drop in NYC for the first time in years! Surprised myself. My sister called my mother in her assisted living apartment and woke her up so she could see the ball drop…very unusual for her as well.

Will get to the gym this afternoon, but for us that may be it for a couple of days as we in Viriginia will close everything down if we get 5 inches of snow (the high end of the forecast). Both of our cars are "all wheel drive" but that isn't as rugged as 4-wheel drive and driving on freezing rain isn't good for anything.

I'll run around today doing errands and then plan to stay home tomorrow if need be.

Do keep your decorations up for book club…they are so cheerful.

I have bought a package of assorted heart shaped tree ornaments and plan to re-purpose the tree I got for my mother's appt from Christmas to a Valentine's tree. Will post pictures if I can once again get my iPhone and Macbook to believe they are cousins and share data again…so frustrating.

    Take care everyone, TT

Good luck to all in the path of the snow. It is literally too cold to snow here; so that it the silver lining!! I did an indoor walking DVD today.

Just back from the gym at lunch time. K-12 schools closed today. We were lucky but it looks like we might get hit with the storm coming in this weekend. TT

Off to Tai Chi, still cold and looking to another storm this weekend. DH and I saw the Bob Dylan movie last night…while not a big BD fan the movie was excellent. TT

Still crazy cold for us, dripping faucets cold and there is no end in sight, uck!

Watched the funeral this morning, a sad but uplifting time all the same.

Off to the gym for a 5:30 class…already seeing the days getting a little longer, one can only hope. TT

I took down Christmas decorations (getting 50000 steps in the process) and watched President Carter's funeral too. A beautiful and touching tribute to an amazing life. I will go to Dance2fit tonight.

Went to the gym at noontime.

DH and I did an early grocery run today vs our usual Saturday as we are looking at another snow event tomorrow…we hide inside in VA when there is 4-5 inches 😲

I went to Pilates/Stretch this morning & walked around the track for 15 minutes. I went downtown & spent a gift certificate I had gotten for Christmas at a local boutique. DH & I went to the Bob Dylan movie this afternoon & we both thought that it was very good!!

Did a little snow pushing yesterday. We had gotten half an inch of snow and so I cleared the sidewalk and walkway of snow. I just cleared a little path of two or three sections and then pushed the rest of the snow onto the grass. They are calling for more tonight into tomorrow of 2-4. We really need it here.

I did a little shoveling too….we maybe got an inch, but might get some more today. I went to a wonderful yoga class & on a dog walk. The temperature is mild but is supposed to take a nose dive…….ah, January!

Now our snow has been upped to 3-6.

I also did a little snow shoveling. Not sure how much we actually got but the yard is totally white with little tips of grass popping through. First snow in 3 years. We had a little snow in December but by the end of the day it was mostly gone.

TT: Did you get a lot of snow?

Still trying to wrap my head around the CA fires. The NC mountains, CA fires, the snow storms - don't tell me climate change is a hoax.

I've been laying low and taking it easy. The 2 new meds I'm on keep my heart rate really low so I've learned to adjust and not make fast sudden movements. But, I hope all of that will change when I have my ablation. Finally got it scheduled for February 10. Wish it was earlier but I'm just happy to be on the schedule.

I don't think I've posted since NYE. We went up to the mountains on the 2nd to the 5th - took way too long to get there as Loveland Pass was closed so they were doing planned shutting of the tunnel so haz mat trucks go could through the tunnel. 4 hours instead of 1.5, so we didn't get to hike Thursday afternoon, but went for a couple walks. Hiked Friday and Saturday and left early Sunday morning. Needed to get back into the regular routine and get ready for the work week. By Wednesday, I was so exhausted, I called in to work and stayed home. We had wanted to go to the mountains again on the MLK week-end but decided not to due to exhaustion and now the weather is reporting to be bitter cold, single digits and 0F in Denver during the day so even colder in the mountains. Actually, it will be nice to have the time to relax.

It's been cold all week so at night, I'm wearing my snow pants and heavy coat on our walks. Mornings are around 12F. I walked with a gf on Friday morning and we were both bundled up!

I see my Hematologist tomorrow morning - CMP was better than a couple weeks ago for Nephrologist. But not sure about the MM numbers - have several questions for Hematologist. What do we worry if numbers are trending up/down and when is a change significant. I've been worried about this appointment so waiting for confirmation that all is good. I will have my labs repeated for Nephrologist on the 24th which will be a month from the last ones.

Not sure what our plans are for today, but going to ask DH if he was to go see the BD movie. I guess I should see what times it is playing. 12:50 and its a long movie - 2 hours 20 minutes. Who has seen it?

Well, best get moving - time to jump in the shower.

    Have a great Sunday.

We just went to the Bob Dylan movie on Friday, Karen. It was wonderful!!! It captured us every minute, so it didn't seem long at all (although when I got home, I stayed up until midnight looking up things about him & the other characters in the movie). A musician friend of ours who is a big Dylan fan & knows all about him went in very skeptically, but came out very impressed. Go & let me know what you think!

We got a little more snow & it's turned COLD. I will bundle up & shovel off the driveway again, but do the rest of my exercise indoors!

It's so cold here that we had 'sun dogs' in the sky today.
