    Beautiful picture, Heidi!

I remember seeing some of pajim's posts so am very sorry to learn that she has passed away too.

I sneaked out to a Zumba class while DH did 'dog things'. Also squeezed in a class abs DVD and did my plank. There is no way I will be at 3 minutes by the end of the week, but would still like to get there; so I sat down made up a modified schedule by looking at the pattern when we started out. I will post it here in case anyone wants to join me:

    Saturday (today)-2 min 15 sec.

    Sunday-2:15

    Monday-2:20

    Tuesday- 2:25

    Wednesday-rest

    Thursday-2:25

    Friday-2:30

    Saturday-2:30

    Sunday-2:35

    Monday-rest

    Tuesday-2:35

    Wednesday-2:35

    Thursday-2:40

    Friday-2:40

    Saturday-rest

    Sunday-2:40

    Monday-2:45

    Tuesday-2:45

    Wednesday-2:50

    Thursday-rest

    Fridat-2:50

    Saturday-2:55

    Sunday-January 17th-3 minutes!

Nice schedule--I'm not loving this challenge right now so I'm going to see if I can finish as scheduled only because I don't want it to carry over into 2020.

I think you mean 2021, edj. I do NOT want to do 2020 again!!!!

We took the dogs for a nice, long walk this afternoon and then to the dog park. We are all sprawled out on the couch right now.

You're correct, I don't want to repeat 2020 AND I don't want the planksmas challenge to bleed over into January 2021!

Lilac - I forgot it was Boxing Day till a little bit ago.

Ruth - great pictures of the grand puppies

Beautiful weather today - sat in the backyard reading. Tomorrow it's cooling off to the 40s then getting colder during the week. Can't complain since it the end of December but I do enjoy the warm, sunny winter days

    Sweet dreams

Got my plank done this AM, then did about an hour of leg work. My Garmin watch is so weird, yesterday's plank somehow counted as 11 reps (of what? I wasn't moving!) and today's plan, which was the same amount of time, counted as four reps. Silly watch.

Two long dog walks, after-which I tried to do my Zoom Yoga class. That didn't work great as first they wanted to 'help' and later wandered off into the living room where DH was watching football (ie napping). I heard crunching sounds & the Dalmatian wandered back to me with green paws & a green tongue! I stop my down dog & go into the living room to find she had eaten a green marker! That was the end of yoga & the start of carpet & dog cleaning! DS came & picked up the puppies at 5:00. I just did my plank & may do some sort of toning DVD tonight.

I am signed up for my usual fitness class tomorrow. Yesterday I was with an in-law who did not reveal her spouse has been sick for ten days. The spouse wasn't present at least. Today I found out the spouse is positive for covid. So I was with in law and his kids while the spouse was home ill and waiting for covid results and was positive. The only place I go is the gym but now I don't know if I should! Bleep the in law for hiding the sickness!! In law didn't tell me!! Would you go to gym class tomorrow? I've scheduled a covid test for Wednesday. Thanks!

Welcome Togethertolearn. Do not go to the gym until your test reveals you are negative. You need to isolate until then as well.

Togethertolearn I agree with LilacBlue. Don't go to the gym, do isolate.

Got my 2 minutes, 30 seconds plank done. Today is otherwise a rest day for exercise, yay!

Don't go to the gym - even if you test negative. My gf was with her daughter who had been testing negative. The day after their visit (they live in same town) daughter was symptomatic for Covid and gf tested positive. thankfully gf husband didn't get it as h e is immunocompromised. GF thought she got it as she hugged DD.

Welcome Together. Were you inside or outside with the family? Did you social distance all the time and wear masks any time you weren't actually eating? Did you touch common items (passing dishes, scooping food out with the same spoon etc)? Did you hug anybody? If any of those answers are yes, you should stay home. Sadness!

Thanks all. we were inside with masks but did eat at separate tables, but I will do a step video at my house instead today. We are very angry that the fam kept his health and results from us as clearly we wouldn't have gone had we known, and now we've chosen to quarantine which messes up our other plans due to their selfishness and betrayal. Anyways I've been going to gym classes since May, the gym is through a hospital so I feel 100% safe with their strict covid rules. I am down 25+ pounds from before cancer but seem to be on a plateau around 165, so I am watching calories now. I am short so I should weigh 130 or something crazyI will never get to nor desire to, but I would like to lose more weight since I bother to exercise 😂

Welcome Together! I can understand your anger at their non-disclosure. I would be, too. Glad you decided to skip the gym tho sorry your plans are messed up.

30 mins Shovel & Sculpt yesterday plus a plank. I'm still at 60 sec on straight arms but can do another 60 on forearms. Working on it!

Together, I would be royally pissed and questioning my friendship with them. But that's just me.

Badger, edited to add that both versions of plank are good, they just target different areas of the body. From your hands, you'll target the shoulders and triceps. Forearm planks works the core more. I choose forearm planks precisely for that reason.

I'd be really mad at the non-disclosure too. More than inconsiderate!!!!!!!

Oh geez, I have been doing full planks!! I can probably get to 3 minutes by the end of the week if I switch to forearms. (I already did a 2:20 full plank today, so will wait until tomorrow to try it the other way.) I went to Pound & then had to brave the grocery store since all our Christmas leftovers are gone. I'll do Zumba tonight.

Planked (on forearms at all times for me) and then was at a Yin Yoga class...I have seen a few new folks at the studio, not sure if they are visiting family or setting new intentions for the year. Really hope all are staying really safe if they come or else stay at home.

Welcome Together, I agree with all my friends here...stay home/isolate and we give you permission to be really pissed off at this branch of the family!

I didn't realize what the difference was in plank form, I'll have to switch to forearms, my core is very weak and needs work!. I do a class called "R.I.P.P.E.D." three times a week. The other class would be a sculpt and tone class. I have recently started trying to drink water as I only drink Pepsi Zero and my kid says that's dehydrating (she's a teen athlete vegetarian). I got my first in-body assessment two weeks ago and not sure it was motivating

I realized that finishing this out as planned wasn't going to make that three minute plank feel any easier plus tonight my husband and I are attending a virtual wine tasting. I'm positive that planks are easier when I haven't had alcohol the night before, so I just went ahead and did the three minute plank this morning. My form wasn't the best there at the end (butt wanted to drift a bit high) but I stayed off my knees and finished.

Wow, good for you edj! We do so much arm work (including lots of planks) in the Barre Sculpt class I take tonight, that I decided not to do the assigned plank today & will tack in on to the end. We will probably walk dogs this afternoon & will do something else for steps if I don't get enough through those two activities. In a few minutes I am going to play a game with a friend via Zoom.

Welcome Togethertolearn. Re: Planks - I have had the best "duration" by doing forearms against a wall (but, still not on track for the 3 minute mark). With forearms and knees on the floor, my form deteriorates after 1 minute. Also tried forearms with toes on the floor - only can do this for about 15 secs before the back starts hurting. In my HIIT class, the instructor also demonstrates planks using a low couch/toes on the floor. I am OK with my progress, since prior to March I had never done a plank at all!

Will try timing myself tomorrow and Thursday to see how long I can last.

WRT planks, wherever you start is fine, however you do them is fine. Paying attention when your body says enough is key.

Ok I just did the plank (the new way for me, on the arms), and wow that is harder! 😂 I did a minute then called it quits. But I'll keep doing that way from now on.

Yeah I find forearm planks tougher than from my hands.

Current me was so happy this morning that past me finished that challenge yesterday! Today was HIIT and bodyweight legs.

I did forearms this morning, and yes, they are hard. I think I will have a better chance of getting to 3 minutes with them than with full planks; but will still have to work my way up.....drats!

We had about 6 inches of snow on the ground when I emerged from the house this morning. So shoveling was my main exercise (along with a 30 minute walk). I am taking a guide relaxation class over Zoom tonight. Wonderful, but the opposite of exercise!

cold but sunny here in Northern New Mexico, so I've been doing a lot of walking. We had a bit of snow yesterday, but hubby managed to shovel the path to the hot tub (which is in the shade, so unlike the driveway and front walk, it doesn't melt when the sun comes out)...I would have done it but he beat me to it! Really!

The first case of the variant was diagnosed yesterday in Colorado - its a 20something whole has not travelled, so of course there are more cases. I think I'm in group two as I'm an educator (School Psychologist). If I'm in the schools, then I want the vaccine sooner than later. If I'm remote, I'll wait for the 65+ group. DH and I are no higher risk to get it but higher risk if we get it to have it bad and complications.

I'm annoyed that the politicians that don't meet any criteria other than privilege of being a politician before people who should be getting it.

Hard to believe we are at the end of December. This has been one LONG year!!! Our plans for New Years Eve are the same for any other Thursday night. The only exception is that my traditional New Years Eve dinner is home made potato knishes and grilled chicken wings. But I haven't been home for New Years in at least 5 years!!! We won't even stay up till midnight!!! Seeing the ball drop was fun in our youth!!

DH and I went up to the mountains for 3 nights. We went up Monday and were going to stay till tomorrow morning but came back this morning as DH was having blurry vision on and off in one off and he could get an appointment for this morning. So we packed up and headed back to Denver. Thankfully - all is okay - he has a floater in the center of his line of sight and it is quite annoying. So far his retina is in tack but the doctor was him to see a retina specialist in a month to be sure all is still okay. While in the mountains, we did some great winter hiking. It snowed Monday night into Tuesday morning (probably 1/2 foot) so it was hard hiking - a couple snowshoes broke trail for us. The skis cleared out last night and it was -8F at 6:30 in the mountains. Denver got a little snow too but today the weather is nice.

Ruth - great picture of you and the shovel!! Smile

    Welcome Together.

Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.
