Claire - good hopes for you that Scotland is open this summer. As both my husband and I have Scottish heritage, one of my summer options had been a car trip through Scotland in August...I still have little faith summer international travel will happen.

Re electric bikes, there are lots in my town too. As a walker it takes some getting used to as that bike 100 yards down the road seems like it is immediately on you as you are crossing the street!

Wonderland - yes, selling the NH house was a huge deal. In my lifetime it was our summer house, our family being Boston (Newton) based. The Newton house was sold in the late 70's and my mother retired there in her early retirement years...but when she starting calling in the 90's to say someone needed to come home and help shovel the roof(!) - it had to go. My great grandmother's steamer trunks from when she came home from college at the Sorbonne were still in the attic. It took two years to clear out. I still miss it...but not the months of cold followed by mud season.

    Happy Friday all, TT

Karen: You can definitely send that snow down here! We are in a terrible drought, and I'd welcome it. It did cloud up and I had high hopes for a little April snow here at the very southern end of the Rockies, but no such luck....

It's an absolutely gorgeous day! Sunny & warm with a clear blue sky. Wonderland would call it Carolina blue. Took a nice long walk in the sun.

Took mom to see the doc on Tuesday. The cut on her leg isn't healing well. She's been on a diuretic and in compression socks for fluid retention due to congestive heart failure. Now, she's got edema in her left arm & hand, most likely due to non-use, so will get a compression sleeve for her left arm. I asked the doc about a gauntlet for her hand. TY BCO for educating me about lymphedema.

On the way to mom's, I was driving on a divided 4-lane highway. I travel in the right lane but moved into the left lane to let someone merge in from an on-ramp. There was a car traveling in the left lane far behind me but I didn't realize how fast it was going. The driver came up fast, whipped around me, almost hit the merging vehicle, and zoomed away. I thought, if there's justice in the world today, there will be a speed trap ahead. (I go fast but not excessively so, and travel this road a lot so know 1) how fast I can go without getting pulled over and 2) where the cops like to lurk.) Imagine my delight when a few minutes later, I passed by a state trooper's car with lights flashing and the jerk pulled over on the side of the road. There was justice in the world.

Glad the jerk got his just rewards, Badger!

The house is cleaned, the dog is walked, and I even made muffins (I had some buttermilk that I had to either use or throw, some blueberries that were getting a little old, and one bag of last year's rhubarb still in the freezer. So I threw them all together and made blueberry/rhubarb muffins).

I hope there's some answers for Wally.

Do not send that snow east!

Going to miss class tomorrow due to being mom Uber service. But I noticed I was strutting a bit at work this week - I'm so happy with my new body!

I did an early morning PiYo class so that I could watch the Royal Funeral. We are meeting up with DS, GF & their 3 dogs to hike around at an old fort this afternoon.

TrmTab: That's cool about your great grandmother's steamer trunks. And she went to the Sorbonne. Wow!

badger: Wish I was enjoying a Carolina blue sky instead we have clouds. I hope your mom can get her swelling under control. Jerks drivers are so dangerous. Glad there wasn't accident but especially happy he was caught!

    Together: Feels good, doesn't it?

Ruth: Have fun at the fort today.

    Walked/ran earlier today.

Wally is doing OK right now. Part of that, I'm sure, is the relief at being home again and not at the vet. So I'll keep watching him.

Did a short run today and I need to solve the blister problem I have with one pair of running shoes. They feel great on, especially where I broke the bone in my foot last year, but I continue to get a blister on the outside of my big toe joint. I stopped by a specialty shoe store and picked up a pair of insoles to see if getting my foot up a bit higher in the shoe might help (I have very low volume feet with high arches).

I caught some photos from the funeral--I feel for QE2, widowed after nearly 3/4 century of marriage. That's got to be hard.

Karen- we got your snow in CT yesterday and I was not happy about it! 4-6 inches but lots has already melted. Treacherous drive to school in the morning and saw 2 cars that had flipped over and were on their roofs. Also saw a few jerk drivers who were tailgating others on very slippery roads. Love that yours got caught, Badger!

    Wonderland- your cards are beautiful!

We are finally on April break. We have been in person all year and I am looking forward to a week off.

Ginger - our snow from the other day has mostly melted except northern exposure grass. I think there is more in the forecast. Enjoy your spring break. i have 6 weeks left in the school year - when I get to a month, I start counting the days.

Yesterday I slept all the way to 6am. Today was payback - up at 3 - took something to help sleep but no luck so finally got out of bed at 5:30 as tired of watching the clock. Thursday and last night was just shoving food in my mouth so up 3# - so not happy - that has to stop!!! Nothing like waking up in a lousy mood. Lots going on but that is nothing new so not sure what is going on.

My Medicare card arrive yesterday - still only Part A since we are both working and have health insurance through DH work. We are going to meet with someone this week to figure it all out - traditional Medare, Advantage, Medi-gap etc. even though we have at least 8 months, I want to know what is the best way to go for us. Since I plan to keep working I can look at what the school district offers - and it's open enrollment now, so I can at least get that information.

Need to work on my EOY evaluation today - get all my artifacts together, beyond just certificates (Professional development) what I have learned and do my self appraisal. My EOY is not till the 28th but my evaluator wants it one week earlier so the 21st. a great

    Have a great Sunday. days.

Busy few weeks here, but I have managed workouts everyday. Our snow from Friday has mostly melted, but our daffodils are pretty crushed. Fortunately I cut a bunch before the storm to enjoy indoors. My mom out in Colorado got >13", which was more than predicted and they need it even more than we do.

I rowed 10,000 meters yesterday and today did a group strength class (sort of HIIT training) then did some weight lifting on my own. I might try to do a couch to 5 k session on the treadmill later. Does anyone know of a good video C25k? I need to do it on the treadmill (due to neuropathy outside I have to watch my feet, and even then my balance sucks), and I have an older treadmill that doesn't have bluetooth, so looking for something with nice scenery and intervals I can watch on my ipad so I don't go nuts.

Pretty grey here today, which always kind of puts a damper on my energy. Plenty of weekend chores I should be doing instead of sitting here :)

I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

We walked the dog around a golf course this morning, and out at a marina this afternoon (it was COLD out, but I think Bruno is going to be a water dog), in between I went to Barre Sculpt and Yoga.

3-6" snow forecast for this evening into tomorrow morning - saying staying off roads after 4 or 5. Probably wet, thick cement snow.

Another early morning - woke up at 3 to pee (seems to be a pattern) but barely slept after that - more watching the clock till 5 when I got out of bed. Beyond frustrated.

Working on putting my EOY documents together - uploading artifacts and writing reflections all due by Wednesday - then I need to do my self-appraisal by the 28th when I meet with my evaluator - not worried about the evaluation - just having all the correct documentation in the correct places.

About time to jump in the shower to start my day. Have a great Monday.

    Saying hi to Bruno!

    image

Strength training livestreamed and then a long walk with Sammy. Will check out the gym tonight on reopening day.

Claire, Islay and Jura look windy. Excited for you.

As for e-biking I've got at least 20,000 Kms behind me and am on regular bikes only when I'm abroad. Like in New York City last year during lockdown. I got around with the Citibike. It was tough as NYC is not always flat.

Hello Sammy. Bruno would like you to come over and play. What fun that would be!

Pound this morning, Zumba tonight. Two dog walks in-between.

Karen have you ever tried relaxation, or hypnosis CDs? I have some of both and use them all the time.

3 days in a car riding home from southwest florida! I'm pooped, When I got home went for a long walk with my beast, (Grady) 90 pound golden, he loved it. He was in car with me. Soo nice to be back in RI. Weather nice for our return. Truck cleaned and vaccumned, laundry done, grocery shopping done dinner served. I'm pooped but sitting here drinking a cup of sleepy time tea to help me calm down

Martaj - glad you got home safe. Three days in a car is LONG!! Grady is a big golden - beast is a good description. We've had many giants but no dogs for past 1 1 /2 years - still go back and forth what we want to do. The house is lonely without a dog, but we do like the lack of responsibility if we want to get away for a week-end or when we are allow to travel again.

Regarding sleep - I've had insomnia since Dx. I was taking Ambien for years with good results then started having side effects so stopped with doctors approval. On Restoril and at first it was great, but no only getting 5 hours max sleep. Ruth - at 3 am meditation etc is not on the top of the list. Walking, my Cubii and reading are my go to for relaxing - last night was better. Crawled into bed at 10:10 woke up at 2 something to pee and then back to sleep till 4:45 when I got up. I feel rested.

Not sure how much snow we got. Took pictures out the back window just before 5:00 am then a couple out front window about 20 minutes later. I'll have to post from my phone. Today is one of. my in person days - its only 15 minutes but hoping the roads aren't too bad at 7:30.

    Have a great Tuesday.

Martaj, send us a picture of Grady so we can enjoy his cuteness!

Karen, I shouldn't have said meditation, but guided imagery.....where you are walking on a beach listening to the waves, smelling the salt air etc. I have several CDs like that and others of nature sounds. I too was on Ambien for quite awhile during & after treatment, and then took over-the-counter things for awhile. I finally decided I needed to get off the drugs and this has worked okay for me. (Not great, but if I put one of the CDs in, and can get back to sleep for awhile anyway.....it may be worth a try).

I have a haircut this morning (thank goodness), dog walking this afternoon, Barre Sculpt & Yoga later. I've broken out some new walking/running shoes as my knees have told me it's time. I believe I will have to get myself to a store and try on various hiking shoes/boots as I don't think that is something I can do online....ar least not until I actually know what brand/style actually feels good on my feet.

RuthBru - Bruno has such cute markings. I have a haircut today (this afternoon) as well. Last time I had a haircut was 11/24/19! Have done self trims on my bangs & ends and it has grown very long (see photo below). Think I will likely keep it fairly long. Glad I stopped coloring several years ago and went "natural".

It is great to be able to cautiously venture forth due to having had the vaccines.

Seems like Silver Sneakers will continue with their Zoom offerings as they have been extremely successful. Local Cancer Support Center classes are still unknown as to when they might migrate to in-person. However, I am all setup at home so no problem if these continue on Zoom as well. Did Cardio Fit Steps (great dance instructor, a professional dancer from the UK) a short while ago and next up is Barre Lates (barre & pilates combo) at noon. Later this afternoon is Bodyweight Boot Camp (like HIIT) and then Zumba Gold.

    Happy exercising to all!

I had my first run on Monday at 20 minutes. I was the only one using the treadmills at the gym, also the only one doing a kettlebell workout. The back of the gym where the weight machines and dumbells are was where the men (no women) were congregated. May try it again tonight. Yesterday was Zumba and carrying heavy groceries.

Love, the pic, too, Celia. I think you should blow it up.

We have snow AND lightning and thunder here now, and I am feeling lazy!

Tempted to make a fire and sit in front of the woodstove.

I can probably justify not doing anything since I had an hour of strength followed by an hour of rowing last night and have the same tomorrow night. Still, it has been unusual for me to take an entire day off...

There must be something in the air, I overslept today!

Got in a 4 mile run and felt great, but because I was running late I cut short my strength workout. It was 26 degrees when I ran!!
