edj: Glad that Wally is holding his own and not getting any worse.

Karen: Happy for you that your evaluation went well!

Ruth: Bruno is such a doll (can you describe a dog as a doll?) Always love your WWW pictures.

Hi All. I've been walking/running regularly since last time I posted. Also pulling lots of weeds in anticipation of getting bales of pines needles to spread. There is a shortage of pine needles and I finally found a place that had gotten a shipment of them. Dh and spread 60 bales of pine needles today. My body will pay for this tomorrow!

Today is forecast to be our first 90 degree day this year. SE Virginia is now the climate zone (you know, those zones on seed packets...???) that Charleston or Savannah were 25 years ago!

Have been maintaining my regular routine of yoga/pilates despite either a flare up of carpel tunnel or a small broken bone in my right wrist. I have had to wait 4 weeks for an appt with the orthopedist P.A., but go on Monday so will finally have an xray.

This month my yoga studio started to offer TaiChi...not what I call exercise, but good for balance and meditative practice, I like it.

My other studio is starting Aerial Yoga (hammock yoga - not the Cirque de Soleil aerail that I know some folks do), the first class is Tuesday, I'll report back!

I, too, always look forward to the WWW photos, TT

I ran this morning and I just have to wonder, if Garmin thinks every run I do is harder than my normal effort and yet they are all really similar to each other . . . what is my normal effort??

We got nearly 1 1/2 inches of rain yesterday and it all came down between 3 and 10 PM. That's a lot of rain.

Pound this morning, dog walking, Dance2fit tonight. I cleaned up the yard and watered the perennials since we are apparently never going to get any rain (send us some of yours, edj!).

For now, I am dreaming of dancing. Literally. Every night I dream I'm either back in ballet classes, or waltzing around a studio. Sometimes I own the studio; sometimes not.

I'm hoping to get my second drain removed tomorrow and to get the okay to start doing SOMETHING, even if it's just get back to walking my dog!

Mommy: We are going to get snow here tonight. Haven't changed out my clothes yet, but maybe next weekend I will be optimistic about it?

I have exercised an average of almost an hour a day every day this month! Somedays have done more than others, so I have taken complete rest days on occasion. I am super proud of myself, and also am happy to be getting back in shape. I am noticing my heart rate is lower at the same levels of effort and exercise. I did have to back off a bit on the weight training because I developed some cording, which my PT is working on, and my trainer is working with me on a specific lymphedema prevention exercise protocol. I just was getting so excited about lifting progressively heavier weights I am disappointed to have to back down a bit. Still, that is how things go, isn't it? Overall progress is wonderful!

We need rain here, too. Thursday was a sunny day but around 1 PM the wind picked up, it got dark, and it rained like h*ll for about 15 minutes. Then it stopped and it got sunny again. Crazy. But enough to coax the violets into bloom. We have wild violets all through our lawn. I just love them.

Job interview went well (I thought) on Monday and I aced the skills test. But second interviews are this next week and I haven't heard back so assuming I didn't make the cut. It's only a two-year temp job and I have an ideal skill set but maybe they want someone younger who can grow into the job. Whatever, their loss. I'm applying for other jobs, including a half-time limited-term position with a supervisor I know and like (and he knows and likes me). I wouldn't need much training so am hopeful this is a better fit.

It's been nice enough to walk outdoors every day. One benefit of being retired is I can walk in the morning before it gets hot.

I walked 4 miles today and haven't done that in about a year! The mental and physical satisfaction I feel right now has me in a good mood. I think this sparked up some motivation for me.

Badger good luck with your job search!

Lots. of walks yesterday plus myCUbii and by 8pm my battery on my Apple Watch 4 - which I bought from a friend in January was down to 10%. I don't know how long she had it , but the battery doesn't last nearly as long as my Fitbit which could go a few days.

Meeting a friend for coffee this morning. Haven't seen her since the beginning of the school year. It should be nice enough to sit outside. I miss our chats. I texted another friend Friday evening about chatting but I haven't heard back. Trying to re-connect after way too long of not seeing friends. Prefer outdoor and will probably wear a mast still.

    Have a great Sunday

I am sure you had a great coffee, Karen. I believe the CDC says if all people in a small group are vaccinated that it is safe to unmask (particularly outdoors).

    Good Job, Jinx!

Several dog walks, Barre Sculpt & Yoga here. One of the walks was with my next door neighbor who has a 10 month old yellow lab. Our dogs adore playing together so we are thinking of sharing the cost of a fence. We and the dogs wandered around the neighbor checking out various fencing options. Maybe it's a good thing we couldn't travel last winter since we also need to replace the shingles & all that is very $$$$$$

Had a wonderful time meeting my girlfriend yesterday. The weather started out sunny and 60s then the winds kicked up, clouded over, temp dropped and it started to rain. I last saw her before the school year started - way too long - she is a retired teacher that I met before Miriam was born when she had just retired and was subbing in my building. Want to make plans to see her again next month. Actually, she is the only friend I have gotten together with since the pandemic - first sitting outside on her lawn - yesterday at Starbucks outside, more or less socially distanced.

Today 35 years ago I became a mother - 35 seems like such a milestone birthday.

Supposed to rain all day. It's in the high 30s and raining.

    Have a good Monday.

    Hey All...

    Nice job Jinx27!

Well, I just got my second drain out and have the okay to walk my dog again! I think she's simultaneously glad it's me walking her again and disappointed I'm only up for about 40 minutes instead of our old 1hr+ walks, but I just can't ask friends to keep walking her as early as she's used to if I can do it myself! Both because I'd feel bad asking, and I need the exercise anyway. Plus, it's nice to get back to a "normal" routine, y'know? Today was Day 3 back at it, and it feels good.

ruthbru, you got to walk with a baby! Don't let my husband hear you say "10 month old yellow lab"...we all love our ~10 year old beagle whom we adopted 2 years ago, but she is not the hiking dog my husband wants. Also, while her short little legs are a good match for my own (I'm 5'1"), he has recently had a chance to hang out with dogs more his size (he's 6'6"), and is really kind of jonesing for a lab or retriever or some kind of large dog he can hike with. I'll be curious to hear if you decide to go ahead on a fence!

I have sent an email to my PS asking her to drill down on what movement or exercise is okay at this point, and what the milestones are for adding in more, so I'm hoping I'll hear back today or tomorrow on that.

Hope y'all have a great day!

This weekend was a mixed bag--I ran 5 miles on Saturday and then had a Meniere's attack so there went my plans for a lot of the outdoor chores on my list. I'm just glad I didn't spend the day vomiting.

Yesterday I cycled, and this morning I planned to run 4 miles. Wow ok cycling uses my quads differently and my legs were trashed this morning!

Karen, isn't it a weird feeling when your own personal children are in their 30s? Mine turns 32 in three weeks. Yikes!

Salt, so glad you are drainless and back to dog walking. Yes, 'normal' is the best! I wonder if your surgeon would refer you to a PT if you asked. They would probably know more about how to build up in the exercise department. Ivy, the 10 month old yellow lab neighbor, is very tall and weighs 80 pounds, so she is a big 'baby'! We are for sure getting a fence. It's just a matter of what kind. We know we don't want a privacy fence, so it's more about the material and the height. First we thought about the ornament metal, but after looking at prices, we are thinking black chain-link (ornamental is thousands of dollars more!). So now we have to decide height, 4 or 5 foot. Four foot might be a little low for big dogs, but 5 foot looks too much like a prison fence to me. Decisions, decisions!

After a nice weekend, it's cold and windy today. I may have to drag out the lined windpants that I just put away. One way or the other there will be some dog walking and I plan to go to Mat Pilates & Dance2fit for the formal exercise part of the day.

Rainy day all day - lots of worms came out due to the rain. Brief break in the rain that we managed to get in a walk.

Ruth - your son and my son are the same age - mine turns 32 in 9 days! I'm not sure if its harder to imagine that my oldest is 35 or that my youngest is 23!!! I remember asking my mother when she would feel old and I think she said when my brother turned 40 (or was it 50)!!! My mother had kids much younger than I did.

Salt - we had giant dogs for many, many years - they were loves but definitely not runner partners. We lost our last fur baby in September 2019 - not ready to get another one - if we do it will be another rescue, but no more giants. I don't want a dog that weighs more than me!!

DS took the day off to get some errands and appointments done. He, his GF and the 3 dogs met us out at a hiking trail later in the afternoon. We know a back section of the trail where you hardly ever meet up with anyone else, so the dogs were able to be off leash and had such a great time running and frolicking!

    So many beautiful dogs!

My little pup and I did 30-40 minutes this morning, and got completely drenched, but it was still good to be out.

Karen, I adore large dogs. The bigger and fluffier, the better! But my desire for the largest, fluffiest dog I can find has definitely overshadowed by the experience last year of being the only one around when my 35 lb. dog had a medical emergency, and I realized it was a good darn thing I'd adopted a very small dog, or I would not have been able to get her to the car and to an ER. The reality is, I love dogs of any size and there are real limitations to what I can handle in a pinch!
