Ran this morning, this should have been my rest day but I have my EMG test at 8 tomorrow morning so tomorrow will be my rest day.

Not going to lie, not looking forward to having what's described as "thin sterile needles inserted into one muscle at a time." Sounds very unpleasant and I just hope I don't make any noises.

edj - I had EMG testing about14 years ago and I don't remember it being so bad. The orthopedist wanted to be sure that her diagnosis of carpel tunnel was accurate and that the pain was not from somewhere else. The neurologist was great - I had severe nerve damage in right hand and moderate in left hand and said without surgery I would have permanent damage. I had CTS surgery on right hand and while waiting for surgery on other hand went off the AI and miraculously the CTS in the left hand went away just like that!!! I called Astra Zeneca and they had just come out with a new insert and CTS was listed as a side effect. Hope your test wasn't too unpleasant and you get the results you want and need

Fell asleep. on the sofa last night before the news (10pm) - don't remember when I woke up and crawled into bed but woke up again so took something to help with sleep and slept till 5:30 - felt good yet, feels like I over slept!!! Testing a kdg student this morning and the rest if paperwork which I desperately need the time and tomorrow starts my weekend.

    Have a great Thursday.

Both tests are done and both were very unpleasant. I thought I was just having the EMG but nope, I also had the nerve conduction test. Those needles aren't all that small and especially hurt on the top of my foot, the bottom of my foot and the places on my lower back--lower back ones still hurt 3 hours later.

The tests showed no issues, nothing that would be causing the numbness I've had now for 15 months. He recommended an MRI of my back to rule that out. Sure, why not--at least I can take a nap in the MRI machine.

ouch edj! My feet are very sensitive, I hear you!

Enjoying my wheelchair PT sessions and doing the exercises 2 or 3X a day on my own: mostly building leg muscle strength for when I finally get out of this wheelchair. The PT did have me on a cycle/bike machine for five minutes; I really liked that and could have gone ten or fifteen minutes easy.

Next ortho doc apt is next Thursday the 13th: really, really hoping I can start putting weight on my leg after that!

It finally rained here the other day; we got the same rain I think you got up in CO Karen. That might be it until monsoon season starts in July!

Hubby got his second Moderna shot yesterday and has been sleeping off the fatigue much of the afternoon, so I am off to cook dinner. It is challenging in a wheelchair but I've gotten the hang of it. Every bit of exercise, even rolling around the kitchen helps, right?

I hope they can get to the bottom of this without torturing you too much more, edj!

Writing pretty much the same thing on all three threads that I frequent - copy/paste.

Not looking forwards to mother's day. Mother's day just isn't the same anymore - my mother passed away January 2018 and my MIL September 2019. I haven't been blessed with grandchildren yet. I don't like all the mother's day adds. It is a hard day for many. For my older daughter who has been struggling with infertility for years which also makes me sad. Mother's day is always near my birthday and my son's birthday. It will be just another day of the week. I know my kids will call and DD#1 sent a card, but when I think about mother's day, don't think about me. Hard to explain.

Rain is in the forecast for the week-end. Was planning on hiking in the mountains but now just thinking of staying home. We were going to go up today and come back Sunday morning. It's already past 8:00am and haven't done anything to get ready. It's only 75 minute drive, but if we go by the time we get our act together the day will be half over! Rain here too but more room at home than a small 1 bedroom.

    Happy Friday.

Mother's Day is meh to me. It's always felt made up, and while I enjoyed the gifts from my kids when they were little, neither are they type to observe so-called holidays like this. My husband and I don't have kids together so it's a non-event to him, too. He drove to Tulsa yesterday to see his mother today and flat forgot to take the card I bought for his mom. Fortunately (?) she won't realize it since she has early Alzheimer's disease.

And I cannot imagine struggling w/ fertility around this time of year. Hey, let's just go ahead and pour salt and vinegar both in those wounds.

On the fitness side, I ran 4 1/4 miles this morning. I've got some lovely bruises from yesterday's needles and my right foot is just not feeling right.

Treadmill Mon & Tues as we finally got some rain. Weeded flower beds Weds AM since the ground was soft then went to visit mom. Walked Weds & Thurs outside and plan to head outdoors this afternoon. It's a sunny day. A bit windy but nice & cool. Last week's 90s were too much, too early. I got my second COVID jab last week. Hubby and I are going out for supper - Friday fish fry, a Midwest tradition. First time in more than a year that we've eaten in a restaurant. Making beef stew tomorrow to take to his mom's on Sunday. Nourishment is better (and cheaper) than flowers.

To me, Mother's Day encompasses all who care for and nurture others (think Mother Earth). Teachers, aunts, counselors, youth group directors, coaches, choir & band directors, nurses, pet moms, those who volunteer at animal rescues, those who 'mother' their elderly relatives or friends etc. etc. I had a wonderful mom who also 'mothered' others in many of the ways I mentioned above, and I have tried to be a little like her.....so I like Mother's Day, and definitely like being taken out to dinner and getting presents from both my human and dog children! 😄

Speaking of dogs; DH, Bruno and I took a fun hike this morning. This is what happens when you run so fast that your ears go straight up in the air!image

Bruno is so handsome. Good point Ruth.

We decided to come up to the mountains. Great afternoon hike. It's in between winter season and mud season! Hope we get a morning hike tomorrow as it's supposed to rain in the afternoon. So far no rain yet.

Have a great Friday night and Saturday.

weekly totals 80.7 miles. slower than last week, but that makes sense since I did more walking & rowing than the week before, and that is slower than biking.

I also did more strengths exercises (not tracked) to continue building my shoulder and arm back to normal.

I did NOT want to get out of bed and walk my dog this morning. I found myself wishing I'd played the Mothers' Day card...and then mortified I'd even had that thought retroactively. How am I supposed to get and stay in shape with that attitude? Good gravy... So I got up and walked my little beagle. I made her come back after 45 minutes so I could try to save some energy for all the other things I hope to accomplish today.

Do any of you have walking apps that make walking more fun for you? Years ago, I did The Walk, and enjoyed that. I feel like I'd either like something with a story line, like that one, or some kind of walking meditation series. Got anything you'd recommend? Addictive podcast suggestions also welcome.

Have an awesome day, everyone! (Or, you know, survive. You are enough, and sometimes things just don't feel awesome.)

Ruth - thanks for the birthday greetings! No birthday cake - not my thing! But did get nice gifts. Mani/pedi gift certificate I asked for and 2 pairs of Chaco sandals from DH and my kids. DS let it slip about flowers for mother's day - he always gets me a hanging basket for front of house - we were talking about the weather the beginning of the week.

Great 3+ hour hike yesterday morning. We didn't. leave till almost 10 so - weather was great when we started out - it got warm so DH put his vest and rain jacket in the bungy on his camelback. As we were heading back it started to snow pelts so he stopped to put them on. And no rain jacket so we started back up and thankfully some nice couple were coming down and had DH's jacket. The snow pellets stopped and then started again pretty hard the last half hour. We got back around 1:15 and relaxed - we did manage a walk before dinner. Trying to decide if we are going for short hike this morning before heading home. It is cold at 7am (25F) and DH wonders how muddy the trail will be after all the rain yesterday. I'd like to give it a try, depending how cold it is in a couple hours.

    Have a great Sunday.

Saltmarsh, I don't know if they have this where you live, but here you can download an ap called Woof Trax & when you walk your dog the Humane Society gets points. DH is rather obsessed by it and I think he & Bruno are in 3rd place locally. I just use my Fitbit and like to see my steps, heart rate etc.

Hope everyone who has special kids in their life had a Happy Mothers Day. I did. Bruno gave me a gift certificate to my favorite beautify salon, DS gave me a beautiful hanging basket of flowers (his gift choices have gone up many notches since he started dating his girlfriend!). I didn't cook any meals, was able to spend some time working in my yard, and we went on a fun hike with DH, girlfriend, and all the dogs......so it was a good day.

We decided to do a short (1 hour) hike before we headed. home. It was gorgeous in the mountains. Shortly after we got home the rain started and rained on and off. Supposed to rain all day. Two beautiful hanging baskets for the front of the house - petunias - my favorite. - gift from my kids, but of course DH picked them out since the kids aren't local.

Busy day today - when I looked at my calendar last night for this week, felt overwhelmed. Woke up early but managed to stay in bed till just after 5 - didn't want to get up at 4 something.

    Have a great day.

No walk yesterday as it rained ALL day. We got a little snow last night, but not as much as predicted. Rain all day today (maybe snow too) and I think rain again tomorrow. Then finally on Thursday the weather will warm up to HOT by Saturday. BCO won't let me post pictures from my computer so will try to post some of the week-end from my phone.

DD in Canada got her first shot yesterday but had a bad break out of eczema from it. Second shot isn't till Aug 30th unless Canada does something to get its act together.

    Have a great Tuesday.

Karen I love your photos, looking good lady!

Ran yesterday and today, we have a mezcal tasting tonight so I figured tomorrow probably wouldn't make for a pleasant run day! Both runs felt pretty good, still just running by how I feel and not worrying about my heart rate or my pace. Yesterday was 4 1/2 miles, today was 5 3/4.

I'm under strict orders to call my dermatologist anytime I see something worrying just in case it's another melanoma. Well I have a hard black spot that wasn't there before Saturday. So I called my dermatologist yesterday and should hear back today (they aren't in the office on Mondays). I'm sure it's nothing and I'm still going to get it checked out.

Always better to be safe than sorry, edj.

Gorgeous Mountain Hiking pictures, Karen! It is beautiful here today. We went Hiking on the Prairie this morning. DS in out of town for work today, and if he gets back in time we will do some more hiking with them later in the afternoon. Yoga tonight. Bruno gets 'fixed' tomorrow so will be off the grid for a week or so as far as having fun goes!

Beautiful, Ruth! It's been another dreary day in Kansas. I'm sure in July I will moan and groan about the heat but our temps are about two months' behind. This is typical March weather and I'm over it.

Stressful day at work, I took it out on my treadmill and blasted some tunes for 25 min, then hopped on my mat and did some small work with some weights. Since walking consistently Ive seen small dip in my weight. Cant believe it. Im going to keep going!
