Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah and Happy Solstice!
A timely food safety message for all the holidays:

We've been having wacky weather as most of us have -- first something like 22" of the heaviest wettest concrete-like snow last weekend, with a 4 day power outage last weekend, followed by yesterday's torrential rains and high winds and then flash freeze. Fortunately this time our power did not go out for long.
Now going to hunker down and watch the Muppet Christmas movie. Stay safe everyone!

TT: Happy you got your window replaced just in time for the cold weather.
YesIAm: 4 Day Power Outage!?!?!?! Oh my goodness. And I was nervous with our 3 hour outage - it was freezing cold outside but nothing like you had. I can't imagine what all you had to do to get through it. Hope you have a generator!
On Christmas Eve I prepared and helped serve food at our church to anyone who would like to eat. Luckily the Fellowship Hall stayed open for people to stay warm during the day. Another church was staying open and providing cots for people to stay the night. All of our food was served bc a lady who routinely checks up on people living in tents came to the church and we packed takeout lunches for her to deliver to them. It was too cold to get out of sleeping bags and tents to come to the church. Very thankful for her!
We had a low key Christmas which was so nice. Ds, dd, and sil came over. We opened presents and then cooked brunch - eggs, hashbrown casserole, sausage gravy, pancakes. Later we had margaritas and turkey sandwiches with leftover turkey from another meal. I feel like I have done nothing but eat!
Walked in the house today.

Hope everyone has survived the Holidays! We had a very nice time despite the rotten weather. I did a little indoor walking & some toning between all the eating. After today, I am throwing any unhealthy food that is still leftover out (think potatoes, dressing gravy)!! I did get up and go to Pound this morning & will go to Zumba tonight. I need to chisel off the holiday pounds before mu body gets too used to them!

Love the picture, Ruth!
I haven't been doing much. Brought one of the cats to the vet for routine shots and check up today. The appointment was for yesterday but she took one look at the cat carrier and hid in a new place I don't know about. I couldn't find her so had to reschedule.
Did some housecleaning. Walked/ran yesterday and today.

Great picture Ruth!
We have finally crawled out of the frost, but with the holidays each day another one of my exercise classes is cancelled...blah. I am very happy for the instructors to take the time, but also very much want to keep my routine going. With school closed, I really look forward to being able to do more exercise rather than less, so now that we are back to the 50's I guess it is walking for me!

I slept in this morning but will go to Dance2fit and Yoga tonight.

Walked/ran today. It was 62 degrees and felt great. Only had to wear a long sleeve shirt.
Ruth: Have you started dress shopping yet?
0 -
I'm in the look at websites and order color swatches phase. Wonderland, remind me again where you got your dress.
I did a bunch of errands & had coffee with a friend this morning. A dog walk & maybe a toning DVD this afternoon.

I ordered my dress online from Kay Unger. The dresses are beautiful. Wish I had another occasion to wear a fancy dress bc I definitely would order another one.
Only formal exercise today was walking in the house. Then met dd and sil for dinner and undid any good!

oh what a year it has been! A short hospitalization, a surgery, a secondary procedure all of which kept me from excellent for a few weeks…. But I still managed to reach my goals! Onward and an upward in the new year.
This year I biked 2841.8 miles, rowed 791.6 miles, walked 153.7 miles and did a small smattering of running, swimming, strength, and elliptical

Excellent, notascalm! Hopefully 2023 is a year of perfect health for us all!
I went to Yoga Strength this morning and will do some sort of cardio later today.

notascalm: Impressive! Surgery, hospitalization and you still met your goal. WTG!
Ruth: Hope you were able to get your cardio done today.
I visited a friend this morning and then packed up most of my Christmas decorations. Still have a few but the majority packed away next year.
In 10 minutes a New Year begins. Happy New Year to All my BCO friends! You mean the world to me and I wish you the best!

Happy 2023 to us All!
I did a little cardio dancing to Marshall Fitness yesterday afternoon. DS, finace, their 3 dogs, the dog they are babysitting & the tiny puppy they are fostering came over for dinner last night (very simple, I threw a frozen lasagna in the oven, opened up a bag of pre-made salad & warmed up some bread-sticks). They had ordered their wedding invitations on Black Friday (when there was good sales....they won't actually go out until spring), so we looked at them, mother-of-bride/groom dress color swatches, different bouquet combinations she had found on the internet, and also played Scatergories. So it was a fun evening. They left before 10 & we managed to stay awake until midnight. Today we are invited to a New Years Day Open House. I need to do some abs & a little cardio at some point. Tomorrow I better start a post-holiday diet!!!

I went to Zumba this morning. Did errands, made dinner for some friends, had a friend & her dog over for a playdate & am now sitting down doing nothing (leftovers for supper).

Happy New Year everyone.
Went to yoga last night, but today spent most of the day trying to get my mother into a doctor appointment for a UTI that developed over the weekend...5 hours in an online waiting room until their day timed out! What a waste of a day and no closer to an Rx!
Currently I am sitting outside on our patio (with a small heater) drinking champagne. Currently 57, but today we hit 67 for one brief instant...after the 9 degrees of last week it is totally glorious.
After the cold of last week our 20 year old F150 needed a battery boost, so I did get that done today (a trickle charge) while in the waiting room and then took it for a nice ride at sunset. A beautiful red sky sunset.
Take care everyone, TT

TT: Hope your mom can get an appointment asap! UTIs are badddd. Your drive sounds lovely! I'm enjoying the warmer weather also.
Ruth: Glad Bruno had a playmate today.
Walked/ran late this afternoon.

TT, keep on the medical people, UTIs can morph into really bad things. Do you have an urgent care she could go to if she can't get in tomorrow?
Here's Bruno & his buddy, Otis, having a fun snow day!

Pound this morning, Zumba tonight, took down all the Christmas decorations in between.

Here's the Wednesday Walking Women picture. The signal we're making is Bison Horns. The North Dakota State University Bison football team are playing for a National Championship this weekend & their saying is 'Horns Up!".

The Bruno pictures are cute! Love the tug of war one.
Go Bisons!
It's a cloudy, rainy day. Exercised in the house.

I'm going to Dance2fit & Yoga tonight.

Pretty day. 63 degrees. Walked/ran. Felt good to get sweaty!

Dd bought 2 huge ornaments (size of a beach ball) from Michael's during their after Christmas sale. She asked me to dot one of them. I've been staring at it everyday wondering what to do with it. Decided tonight to just pull out my paints and see what happens. My exercise of the brain.

That is gorgeous!!!

Always love your dot paintings Wonderland!
It was also in the 60's here yesterday (actually for most of the past week)...but our last day of nice weather of that kind for at least a couple of weeks, so we sat outside at sunset yesterday to see the colors and watch the full moon come up, beautiful.
So the "horns up" looks very similar to UTexas' "hook'em horns" just with the hand facing away or towards the body! That should be a good and COLD game. My school was beat out at the quarterfinals by Montana St...in subfreezing temps...way to cold for our team from Virginia.
I did 3 of the yoga by adrianne videos yesterday in her new year free series...I have been wanting to do one of her kick of the new year series for several years, but haven't and not sure I am totally impressed. Off today to the live yoga studio for a yin class at lunchtime, and hope to get back for a happy hour workout at 5.
Happy Three Kings Day -- according to our family rules, this is the last day to have the Christmas tree lit, taking it all down is my weekend chore. TT

TT, the Bison have an indoor stadium, so weather is not an issue for them anytime.....and the championship is played down in Texas where it will be in the 60/70s (their opponent is South Dakota State who beat Montana is another very cold outdoor game). South Dakota is ranked #1 & the Bison #3 so it should be interesting.
I tried out a new Denise Austin DVD today, 'Fat Burning Dance Mix', and will probably do a dog walk this afternoon. I am also tracking my food as I need to get off the weight I gained over the holidays!!!

I was cleaning out my crafting cabinet and rediscovered these little wooden reindeer. I had cut them out probably 35 years ago when I cut out and painted several of them for Christmas. These 2 never got painted until yesterday.

Met a friend today for our walk and talk session. Fast walking and talking is hard on me as I prefer to walk alone and only "talk" in my head. lol. And, I end up not walking as fast as I do alone. But it is nice to catch up with my friend.

I felt inspired today to paint the other side of the huge ornament. This pattern definitely has more dots than the other one.
Went for my walk/run but stopped halfway through. I had eaten very little during the day and even less to drink and it was affecting me. Lesson learned. Came home and told dh to be ready to go out to eat in 30 minutes. Now I'm well fed and ready to wrap up in a blanket and watch Glass Onion.
