Good plan Longisland8y and Annie, great new photo.  Ruth, excellent time by the daughter of your friend and judging from the photo, she looks a very seasoned runner.  Nahini, your photos are proof that spring has arrived for you.

Beautiful photos, Nihahi.  Claire - sounds like you're already in mid-season form!  BTW, what's a metric century?  Cheryl - class with Eduardo!  HappyRuth - I love how your friend's daughter is energetic and waving and cute as a button, when those around her look like they're really struggling.  REd - ironic indeed!

Did my planned run home from work yesterday - just over 4 miles. Lots of bikers, runners, and walkers on the park trail - seems like everyone wants to be outside after our horrid winter.  I'll do a shorter run later this week, then should be ready for the 10K on Sunday.

My SIL sent me this picture - I'm sure I look like the old woman many times when I'm walking or running, but deep down I still feel like the shadow.

    NatsFan- beautiful picture.

Yesterday during my walk on the beach I felt like breaking into a run - so my husband told me I should run ahead and he would catch up to me.  Off I sprinted for about 30 seconds (which is a lot for me) and I felt as though I had run miles.

I turned around to look for my husband in the distance and was most surprised to see him about 20 paces away.Singing

Turns out my sprint was more like a slow motion jog.  It must have been my shadow-me running.  Smile

I was rushed for time today so did my 10km on the exercise bike in 25 minutes instead of 30.  Liquid Awesome.  Uurgh!

    Hi everyone!

Nihahi, such gorgeous pictures.  Were they taken with a cell phone?

Ruth, thanks for the recipe (plan to make it this weekend) and Lilac, your Easter feast sounded yummy.  I'm visiting you and Ruth!  LongIsland, how thoughtful of you to continue your support to NY Blood Center. And Claire, I can't even imagine that bike ride of yours!  You are obviously well-trained for endurance - it sounded like a nice trip. Ann, do you hoop to music? Bounce, cheers to your liquid awesome!  :o)

Reporting in:  40 minutes gym - 6 miles EFX and then 68 minutes mountain - 4 mile hike/jog

Stopped by the grocery store on the way home to pick up fruit and then when putting fruit away, realized I'm very impressed by the invention of the banana holder!  No matter how I hook the bananas, it never leans or falls over!

For those of you who haven't exercised yet today, there's still much time left to get it in.  I'm cranking up the voices for you!

PT appt done, but the techs think I have shingles.  Since the rash is near my mastectomy scars and drain sites, I just assumed it was related to the surgery.  Still have time to at least get on the treadmill for a bit tonight.  Loseit.com going well - day 3 :)  Weigh in tomorrow!

Oh no Cdelv!  Are they going to give you some antibiotics? Should you exercise with shingles? Will the heat and sweat make it worse or will you hurt more?

Inspired, so that's what got to me - thanks for the voices.  Was really not feeling up to it but came home changed and forced myself back out to the gym.  Only did 40 mins on the treadmill with a little jogging, I mean very little, but at least I got it done.

    Night my sculpted friends.

Love the flower photos Nihahi. And admire the spirit and perseverance of the Boston marathon runners.

Hit the gym after work for 15 minutes on the Elliptical, 15 minutes on the bike plus weights.

Good luck tomorrow Cdelv66 at the weigh-in. Happy Wednesday everyone.

Sorry ladies. No exercising for me today. After an 11 hour day and most of it sitting, the best I can do is sit in the jacuzzi and hope my back feels better soon.

Gage is still with us, but now I'm torn. They're saying severe brain damage and all his white matter is hardening. Perhaps it would be kinder for all if...

patoo....there is NOTHING "only" re: 40 minutes on the treadmill! Good going girl!

cdel...holy crap...shingles!!!!!! When did this start???? Get to a doc to get on the anti-viral asap....you most definitely do not want a full blown shingles attack!

5k brisk walk today....so looking forward to being given the ok to start throwing in some running again. I was considering getting the bike cleaned up, but...the forecast for the next couple days is not pleasant.

LOVE the shadow image!!!!! Don't we all picture ourselves like that shadowNerdy

    Have great nights everyone.

Red, so sorry. That is such a hard place to be.

CDV, gee, I hope it isn't shingles. My sister had it this fall.....no fun! (Ladies, get the shingles shot if you haven't already!)

Wow, I had a busy day. I did a last minute sub gig for a teacher who woke up with the flu. That meant I got there at the last minute, had no clue what I was doing ahead of time, and the things she had planned didn't work anyway because the internet was down.....so it was punt, punt, punt (luckily I always bring a bag of supplemental materials!). The day turned out fine, but was totally hectic....the mug of coffee I poured at 8 am.....I finally had time to warm it up & drink it at 2:30 pm!

It was a nice day, so I took a long walk before dinner & did 15 minutes of arms. Still enjoying leftovers!

    Sweet shadow picture!

I went to the gym and spent about 30 minutes on the stationary bike today and also walked the dogs and did some stretching.

Cdelv, I hope you can get a definitive diagnosis and get the anti-viral if needed.

Not much movement today, hooped maybe 20 minutes and one set of weights.

Cdelv if you do have shingles get the anti virals quick, I've had them and they're unbearably painful. Mary I am so stealing the photo it's exactly what I look like coming out of a dance class, I look one way and feel like the other. Patoo I know how hard it is to get out once you've come home so great job.

Tonight did Body Step at my gym, and then my friend and I drove to another gym and we did an evening Sh'bam class, I have to say getting into the 2nd gym was a real pain, they wanted to give us a tour and a sales pitch we just wanted to pay and go to the class, it was an ordeal getting in but it was a great class.

Yesterday I walked 1 1/4 mi around the track at lunchtime and that was it.  I was exhausted yesterday & never so happy that it was the one day this week where I had no commitments after work.  I felt like my chemo SEs were back a little bit yesterday, but who knows.  Actually slept over 9 hours last night! Hopefully that will give me the energy I need to get to my TFB and HIIT classes after work today!

Go Annie!!!  I was dragging last night so just a two mile walk which was just as well as started to really rain as I was finishing up.

For anyone doing an exercise event during chemo, I highly recommend exercise potions....I know that GU Gel saved my hide during chemo and beyond.  What I found was that I didn't have energy reserves past about 20 miles of cycling, but after I ate one of everything in my cycling bag, I would be fine.  I was achier than normal (I think from Taxol) so also needed ibuprofen.

A metric century is 100k or ~62 miles, vs 100 MILES which is a regular century in the US.  Just the most gorgeous and fun ride if a nice day.  Especially the part along the coast.  I was so obnoxious on the bus ride to Canada as kept pointing out places I had cycled for most of the trip.  Interesting how much ground I really have covered.  Learned yesterday that Seattle just passed a master plan for cyclists, which will be wonderful.  Even now, I could cycle the 30 or so miles there via bike lanes and trail.  Actually, there are 2 different routes in, and I have done both, but never all at once.

The other place I want to do is Lopez Island.  There is a ride on Saturday, but I have other plans.  So that goes on my list for this year, and I do need to get back to the San Juan Islands.  This is the flattest of the major islands, and just stunning on a clear day.  On Saturdays, the ferry makes a early unscheduled stop there, and lets off cyclists only.  Anyway, a good organized ride about once every 2 weeks will keep my hide in shape.

I still need to explore my new place via bicycle and figure out the streets.  It's relatively flat on top of Redmond Ridge.  I may be able to ride the trails on my hybrid....no, I'm not getting a THIRD bicycle.  So lots going on cycling-wise.

I think the best benefit is.....butt exercises, what are those???  This completely takes care of my lower half although I do need crunches for my midsection.  And most of all, it's FUN!!!  Who can argue with that. - Claire

    Reporting In: 58 minutes - 4 miles mtn hike/jog

Annie - love your updated photo and congrats on being on track to reach your goal! Cdelv - you too, that's great about loseit.com.  Do you have that as an app on your phone?

Pattoo - all exercise is good, it all adds up and if you consider this ... 40 minutes is a very long time to be exercising.  That's the entire time of one half-hour television show plus 10 more minutes.  lol The hardest part is leaving the house, so perhaps we can throw in some extra bonus points for you, because you pushed back through the feelings of not wanting to go and did indeed go!  That is a big accomplishment right there.

C25K done for today. Today was tough. It's in the 30's again. (Huge pout!) I "woke up tired" today. PCP has me on the schedule for a sleep study cuz I flunked a test. Shocked Difficult family stuff going on so emotionally pooped as well.

Anyhoo, DD and I were jogging along and I (in my head) was getting mad! I felt like I was really having to push myself today and there she was just trotting along with her iPod. Devil

Then I did the math and gave myself a mental slap upside the head. Hello!!!!

Take me. Subtract 32 years and two kids and some medical issues and I just might equal her!

So YAY ME for sticking with it! I did the whole thing, but today was just not an "on" day.

Claire...thanks for the cycling inspiration! A friend and I signed up for a ride in a couple of weeks and I can't wait! I WISH I could do the metric century option, but since I'll be with a couple of other ladies who are not bikers we are just doing 25 miles. But it's a great way to kick off the cycling season. Spring Tour...aka The Homemade  Cookie Ride. ThumbsUp

    L-R-L-R-L-R-L-R-L-R kind of day!!!!!Nerdy

dulci....you are +32 years of awesome....give yourself a huge pat on the back!!! Where are you in the C25K sequence?? I am pretty sure I'll be back to the early days of it when I finally get back to running.

We are in week 4. There were several different plans online. I chose the one that looked most doable to me. By the end of this week we should be running 20 minutes straight. Yikes. Right now we are at Run 8, Walk 3, repeat a few times.

    Ha!

It was 40 degrees, with a 32 mph wind and rain this morning....so the WWWs were forced to take shelter in the mall for our walk . Here is our poster for today; the reason the lady with the food is featured is because she ALWAYS orders an English Muffin for breakfast & today, as you see, she went wild and ordered a real breakfast (yes, we are easily amused), and of course we had to feature our Boston gal....who actually ran the second half of the race faster than the first & said that she never 'hit the wall'.....just ran like the wind all the way through!
