Perfect weather here; took a couple walks (one alone in the morning) & one with the family later in the day, did 30 minutes of toning, and had a picnic. A very nice day.

thanks girls...I told my daughter I went to the food store for an hour 1/2 and got my exercise...rolling the cart gave me support and I walked down every aisle and back around....this 5th chemo really did me in and I was doing so well...now tonight I am super exhausted!  Most of my exercise has been my food store excursions and walking around my yard and gardening...bending, pulling, digging...with a lot of rests in between...but now I am super exhausted...if I am still like this tomorrow I will get iron level checked ...I really wanted to get to the beach before hot sun and shell hunt...thanks for the welcome!  Rosie

Hi friends, been lurking occasionally but haven't posted in the last few weeks.  I have been moving though primarily because I've been good about posting on loseit.com so have gotten many days over 10000 steps.  Also getting ready to sell my townhouse so lots of housework pulling stuff out to declutter, cleaning, etc.  So much 'stuff' - why?????  Stuff still in boxes from when I moved here 11 years ago.  Really, obviously I don't need it!

So going to relax now then off to bed to dream about next week!!!!!

    Night my sculpted friends.

8km jog/walk this morning, yoga, a short hike this afternoon and grocery shopping. I'm done for today.

Annie...I combine what works for me from C25K, Galloway's run/walk methods and chi running principles. I think we're all built differently, and no system works 100% of the time for 100% of the people. Yoga has taught me to listen to and respect what my body "tells me".

Ruth, drunken raisins... I think I remember that being posted. I have to try it. Just because! Cheryl, love that shirt.

I'm baaack!  Four days of a hooping conference in a North Carolina forest. Incredible event jam packed with workshops, performances, jams, dance parties, trick share, and socializing with other hoopers in a summer camp like setting. I went through a lot of discomfort due to the weather (not used to humidity), the cabins (ten ladies in bunk beds), the food (really pretty good but it's hard eating in a cafeteria at fixed time windows), lack of privacy, kind of icky showers, and just the overload of "face time" for this introvert.  But the immersive, intensive experience worked its magic and I had many blissful moments.  My frozen shoulder limited my hooping at the event, but I still gained from it.  So... exercise, I did 3-4 hours of workshops per day, danced several hours for two nights, and walked all around the venue all day long. I feel really good although sore.

I'm going to get a consult about surgery for the FS, and inquired about joining a clinical trial. I feel so awkward due to the constriction. It's throwing off my balance, creating new pains in my wrist and upper back, making it uncomfortable to sit in chairs (because my scapula is winged out), and even looking really weird and distorted. I can't face a two-three year wait to get it back to normal.

Also... so looking forward to the next adventure next weekend!

I've been MIA (or MI non-A) for a while due to some health stuff. Topped it off this weekend by my back suddenly going out. Grrrrr. I'd been looking forward to some major biking and the weather was perfect. Phooey.

This morning I did a half hour of a tentative, slow run/walk. Hopefully I'm on my way back to "normal."

dulci....that is el crappo!!!! take things easy and look after that back.

_Ann_.....frozen shoulders are really tough to get through. I hope you find a way to deal with it that works for you. Sounds like the hooping getaway was a good one!

yoga done...now off to work....hoping to get in some more "stuff" later in the day. Have a good one everyone.

Rosie - I'm one of the ones who chemo hit really hard, so I absolutely think that brushing your teeth during chemo counts as exercise - having to take out the brush, squeeze on the toothpaste, then stand there for a few minutes all while moving your arm up and down - it was exhausting! Singing  Dulci - ouch on the bad back.  Take care of yourself. Ann - sounds like the hooping event was wonderful, although I'm with you about the primitive camping-type accomodations - give me a hotel room with clean sheets and a hot shower everytime!  Nihahi - your pix are breathtaking!  Thanks for the explanation on your name - I've been wondering about it myself.  Patoo - I hear you about clearing out stuff.  It's amazing how much stuff we accumulate over the years.  We've been slowly working on getting rid of our stuff too.  No wonder we're not the target demographic of advertisers - at our ages we aren't buying stuff, but are actively getting rid of it. Winking

Someone wrote a while back about having a "Presidential weekend" clearing brush (a la George Bush).  That's the kind of weekend we had - we went up to the cabin for the 3 days, and spent the entire time clearing out the gardens and clearing out the undergrowth, mowing the meadow, rebuilding the stone borders around the garden beds, and trimming.  Every muscle I own is sore today, but the place looks so nice - I hated to leave.  And yes, the bear is back, so we have to start taking in all the bird feeders each night.  We've named the bear "Dexter" as he's very dextrous - on Friday night he managed to open two hummingbird feeders and 5 feeders full of seed, all without damaging any of them.  Usually the bears just tear the feeders apart and chew right through them, but this bear was deft enough to leave them undamaged.  He also opened one of the suet feeders, but left that undamaged as well.  However, he did go off somewhere with the other suet feeder - we'll probably find it in the woods this winter when the undergrowth dies out.  It was a perfect weekend - temps in the 70's with clear blue skies and low humidity.  The phoebes have returned to their nest under the eaves - they have three pretty nestlings that look like they're ready to fledge - we took pictures so I'll post one if they came out.  And the scarlet tanager couple is still hanging around, so we're hoping they decided to nest here instead of going further north like they usually do.

Quite a weekend of work around the cabin Mary and well worth it.  Ann, welcome back - what a fun time in all the workshops, dancing, etc..and I'm so pleased to read you talking to consultant and getting unfrozen once and for all (hopefully).   Dulci, hope you are back in action quick.  Took my son who is off school for a week of term break to buy running shoes (Asics) as he has become inspired.  Today we have had constant grey drizzle - typical late spring UK weather.  Perhaps he and I can go running tomorrow.

Body balance this morning and soon to leave for 8:15pm yoga.

Love all the scenic photos and reports from all your activities.  So inspiring.  Never tried a fitbit but did have a heart-rate monitor and exercise tracking watch but I gave it up for an app called Nexercise which was free in the app store and runs on my iphone.  Since I carry the phone to the gym and when I walk and run to listen to music it works to track the steps/distance/speed while I'm moving.  I don't listen to music while I bike but I do carry my phone in case of emergency so I track the bike speed/distance anyway.

Been a soccer watching mom all long weekend but did some walks in between cheering for games.  Got in a circuit workout and a nice bike ride. Legs are sore today so will walk or run if I have the energy and then some yoga.

Finished rads today.  Yes!!!   Glad to be reclaiming some time in my days now.

Record 5th nice day in a row.  I'm so glad I took the extra days off around this weekend as the weather turned out to be beautiful.  No garden work today.  Went to the city with my hubby, had breakfast and walked around the lake.  I'm not going to want to go back to work.

I have forgotten who asked but I also use a phone app that measures your steps or you can turn it on to record the time of exercise or both!  The one I use is called Argus.  Its free.

Rosie, chemo hit me really hard too.  No shame in counting pulling a few weeds as exercise.  I wish I'd pulled a few weeds last year when I did chemo.  My yard is a mess and I'm paying for it now.

Congrats Ms Mez on finishing rads.  I know how glad you must be!

Nat that is a smart bear there.  He's afraid if he destroys your bird feeder you won't put it out!

Walked the dogs today, about 1.5 mile. Got my clip-on walk/run interval vibrating timer in the mail today, so I'll try running with it in the morning.

Got in a leisurely long walk at lunchtime and a brisk 5km walk before supper. Will do a bit more yoga before bed.

Annie....I've seen ads for that interval gadget. I'm going to be interested in hearing what you think of it. There is a free app you can download on your cellphone. I always take my phone when I'm out, so I have been using that, and the c25k app, kind of alternating the two.

mz.....happy dance for you for finishing rads....that is such wonderful news!

OncoWarrior, thank you so much for your comments. I had FS on the left side in 2010, two years before BC, which was also on the left. It fully resolved after three years. Now I have it on the right, and I think it's worse than the prior. I did try PT on the first one, and I did not feel I got much benefit. I see my primary care this week and will ask about more aggressive treatment. I also found a clinical trial for a non-surgical treatment. Don't have details yet.

Did a lot of free-form movement today and hooping.

I ran 2.6 miles with walk breaks using my new Jeff Galloway vibrating clip-on interval timer. My first time using this device I liked it a lot. It freed my mind to think about other things or nothing at all. Judging from the amount of liquid awesome produced, I think I got a good workout.

Will do some weights and dog walking later today, but now it's time to shower and get ready for work.

ms_mez, well done to you and now, onto summer!Smile Cheryl, you are  a hard core Eduardo follower and I'm like that with Sue, my step and body balance instructor as I take her to Monday night step at another gym.  Thankfully, not an hour away.  Nice sunny legs out  walkers photo Ruth.

Freestyle step this morning and it was a new configuration of the steps, with two steps in a "L" shape and we twiddled and stepped  using both in a really fun routine.  During term break, as our class is usually smaller with committed regulars, Sue does something completely different  and body balance afterwards, skipping body attack; saving energy for this afternoon.

Odie, this afternoon ran with my boy and he ran a 29:08 5k two minutes ahead of me - first time out of the gate,
not long after eating a whole pizza. Oh to be young! Fingers crossed,
the running will last through the summer.

This thread moves so fast!  Can't possibly read all the pages, so will just jump back in.  My daughter and son-in-law visited for memorial day weekend - was great to see them and catch up.  Too many occasions to overindulge, and not enough exercising, so the scale was not kind this morning.  She and I went shopping and I think I found the dress to wear to my sons wedding.  It is a tiny bit snug, so more incentive to be a better eater and exerciser.  It is way way too long, so will have to be shortened, which might be challenging with all the layers.  But it is pretty, color looks good on me, and formal enough for my daughter-in-law to be. Of course it looks quite different on my short mature body, but I think this will be the one.  Of course, I've said that twice before already! Next step, shoes.

Busy busy this week after work, so no time for the gym.  Cold and rainy here today, so I got an abbreviated walk in at lunch, but step count way down.  I'll try for the gym on Friday.

Ann - I had FS before BC. It was awful. Had surgery. Did intensive for months with good utcome. Today it us great, almost full ROM. After my reconstruction surgery, now mild FS in my other shoulder!

I would always choose giving birth or a double mastectomy over shoulder pain. Good luck to you next week. Please tell me about the clinical trial. Thx

Exercised 32 min on elliptical... Did not meet my goal but happy enough.

Ruth - you all look great in that pix!
