Lets Post our Daily Exercise

I'm thinking having some home equipment would be a good thing. It takes at least 20 min to get to our gym and at the end of a work day that is somewhat of in inconvenience.

I always have great intentions as far as using equipment at home but they typically turn into laundry or closet accessories (treadmills are great for draping rugs over to dry and for hanging clothes on (in case there's anyone in the world that didn't already know that....lol). Good thing my gym is only a half-mile away. I haven't been to the gym for a while but when I do it's early morning before work. Lately it's walk/runs in the evening which is tough because I'm whipped at the end of the day plus it really cuts into the time I need to keep up with vacuuming, laundry, groceries, meal-planning/execution, lawn maintenance, gardening, bill paying, etc, etc, etc........sigh

Here are a couple pictures of where we walked this morning. Some great trails the cross country teams use for practice.

Beautiful pix Ruth!

Been MIA from this thread due to a bad back.
Started walking again today - walked 15 minutes this morning and did my stretching. Will try for another 15 later this evening.
Beautiful pictures Ruth! Reminds me so much of the ecological reserve very close to my house.
I will take pictures to share the next time I'm up there.

Hey slow - good to see you and sure do hope the back issues resolve. Back pain is not fun at all. Glad you were able to get out and walk today.

Hi everyone. Yesterday I did 8699 steps and today I took my pedometer to the gym with me, got on the treadmill with it and discovered that it takes me 2214 steps to walk 2 kms at 3.5 mi/hr. So far I'm up to 11,517 steps today so almost 11 kms. (10 kms = 6 miles) not too shabby, if I do say so myself. When I first started walking 4 months ago I was hard pressed to do 5,000 a day, now I am rarely less than 7000. Thanks to all my sculpted friends who kept encouraging me. Thanks also to Ruth, for inviting me to this forum.
Slow, good to see you again. Sorry about the back problems. It's tough for people who don't have back problems to understand just how much it hurts.
Sweet, we have Tony Little's Gazelle in our house. It's great for laundry.
Ruth, lovely pictures.
Kindergarten, 5 lbs is super and it's even better it was over 2 weeks. Less likely to be water weight. Lol
Have a lovely evening.

Thanks sweetandspecial. I've never had lower back pain before. I have a new appreciation for people that go through that on a daily basis. Such a coincidence - I have that same clothes drying contraption as you!! Except I think they call mine an exercise bike.
Kindergarten, congratulations on the five pound loss. Sorry I missed it earlier.
Wow Red, I think I did over 10,000 steps just once since posting on this thread. That's my daily goal and I know I will get there eventually. That's awesome.

I'm feeling a little lazy this week. Saturday I think I did too much and I was so dang sore I took two days off. I have only done two 20 minute walks this week.
Laughed about the exercise equipment. We had an exercise bike, then got sick of it and didn't move it to the next place. Then we got a treadmill which we also didn't move to our current place, but now I wish we had! It was frequently used as a towel rack because we didn't have anything in the vicinity to keep us entertained - no TV or window to look out at. When I asked my husband if we should get an elliptical or join the gym he voted join the gym.
I didn't end up making it to the state fair. We got up Sunday morning and it was so hot and humid that no one really felt excited about going, so perhaps that was a blessing for the caloric intake, although it is still open through this weekend so we may go yet!

45 minutes of cardio at the gym

Kindergarten, congrats on the 5lb loss. Way to go!!!
Welcome back Slow. Hope your back continues to get better quickly.
Red, nice to see progress and strength building, huh? You should be proud.

Had to laugh about the exercise equipment/laundry contraption comments. I regularly use my treadmill but hubby thinks it makes a great hat holder. And has the nerve to giggle when I try to scold him...
Exercise for me today was 30 minutes on the Elliptical plus 15 minutes of weight training.

Hi everyone. Walk to run program gave me the option to take a day off but I did 30 mins on the treadmill anyway. Total a little over 6300 steps today.
Nice pics ruth. May have to take your advice and bury the little guy as the house sale is threatening to fall through!!!!
Night sculpted friends.

Get out there and bury him immediately!!!

Three buckets of balls at the driving range tonight in preparation for a company outing tomorrow. Didn't want to get stuck with some awesome golfers and take my first swing of the summer in front of the whole company plus our agents
! Too late for my normal walk/run route when we got home and besides I had laundry to fold and cheesecake to eat (picked up on the way home from the driving range....lol)0 -
Well did not a very productive week activity wise. Went to the cottage ate waaay to much and I think I might have polished off a whole bottle of white wine by myself while watching movies and eating popcorn. Girlfriend turned to me and said you know I only had a glass and half of that bottle I said "what"? No wonder I felt so crummy this am. Oh well I will just get back up, dust myself off and get back on track starting tomorrow Nice long walk with Robbie the Wonder Dog in the am and then I might try a little run/walk later in the day. Also will do weights tomorrow. Patoo start digging quick fast, fingers crossed everything works out for you. Teacher hope you are feeling better. Lois calories consumed on vacation don't count. Kindergarten great job like Ruth I may have found them... Sweet I'm so glad you are feeling better, you had a rough go of it.
Yesterday did Body Jam and this morning did Sh'bam where like an idiot I did a leap thinking I was a young dancer and i came down and felt my knee crack, tonight wrapped my knee and did Body Combat as they say there's no fool like an old fool. Also had my mammogram today and got the 'all clear' see you next year.

I have been offline for almost 2 weeks but have been either swimming, biking or jogging every morning. Today I ran for 35 minutes. Couch to 5k program has really worked for me! 8 days till I complete a sprint Tri. 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 5k run. Did one 6 years ago, (pre-cancer)and I am super excited to reclaim my strength!
Ruth- thanks for the book report; makes me glad I have started exercising again this summer.

Go Ginger! That sounds like something I need to try.
Doing just fine with the exercise. Did a 5k run last night. 2 mile walks Monday and Tuesday as still dragging from the weekend. This on top of my weights and crunches routines which I do week days.
Got a project that is keeping me beyond busy. Great to have the work and it's something fun and challenging. Hope the first of many to come for this new client.
I took Tuesday off after the Golf Tournament, or at least I didn't go into the office. I spent the day working on the new client project, but took out three hours to finally finish the closet. Everything fits!!! So wonderful to have it all organized. I even have a space on a bottom wardrobe shelf for my dress boots. Have my shoe rack set up again too. Was thrilled to take the last moving boxes to the dumpster.
Chatted with Mr Single Chain Ring the other evening, and we are meeting at the wine bar on Saturday. So a hair coloring and trim in the offing. I am actually quite excited, and we'll see.
Need to get back to the project, and it's also a hair color morning. BTW - I don't exercise in gyms as prefer to do weights and crunches at home (that way they get done) and the great outdoors. I haven't really lost any weight this summer, but I haven't gained any either. I am firmer and more sculpted from the cycling. One of the few who really means it when she says she has an "athletic build". - Claire

Great pix, Ruth! Teacher - you've really had a rough time with this last surgery - hope you're on the mend now. Patoo- hope the house sale holds together and you can settle with no issues. Sweet- I'm always so impressed by anyone who would even think of golfing - it seems like a very intimidating game. Ginger - good luck on the sprint tri! Cheryl - woohoo on the good mammo news!
3 mile walk last night, half hour run this morning.

hb, great mammo news!
Cheesecake sounds great! Wine sounds great! I'm just so hungry ALL the time!!

Patoo, hoping that house deal closes soon.
Ginger, Wow. Good luck with your program.
Claire, it's so fun to read about all the exercise you do and places you go. Hope it works out with Mr. Single Chain Ring!
Added another 15 min. walk last night.
Did 15 min. this morning and stretches so far.

Congrats on the clear mammo Cheryl. Hope the knee mends quickly.
Good luck Ginger. Great challenge, sounds fun.
Went to bootcamp tonight and am going to soak my tired self in the hot tub. Sweet dreams sculpted sisters.

30 minutes on recumbant bike and a little legs. Maybe walking in a pool tomorrow would be nice, can't swim yet!

Love reading all the exercise updates....big or small, they are moving us forward!

Did my Core class this morning & Zumba tonight. Tomorrow I will get up, go to Insanity, zip home & get ready to leave town
for a 4 day weekend. DH & I are going out to the North Dakota Badlands with another couple (our good friends whom we visit every winter in Arizona). I LOVE the Badlands and haven't been there for awhile, so am very much looking forward to the trip. Google Medora and/or Theodore Roosevelt National Park if you want to see what we will be up to (otherwise I will give you an update on Tuesday if you want....or even if you don't
). It should involve a lot of walking, hiking, touring, and eating....not necessarily in that order!0 -
Lylin: Tomorrow is a brand new day! Sweep the past week away and get back to it
however you can – everyone falls off the wagon once in a while JCheryl – you crack me up!
You hear your knee CRACK and you go back for more the same day??? Sheesh!
You need to take care of those dang knees – they’re gonna have a lot of
touristing to do in San Diego next summer…..lol! Thanks for the well wishes – I really am so
thankful to be feeling good again. That
incredibly fun yet miserable week in California in June seems like a lifetime
ago already! And congrats on the clear
mammo – YAY!Patoo – yes – get out the shovel ASAP!
Ginger48 – way to stay on it – good luck on your upcoming
competition!Claire – you continue to inspire me with your
self-discipline. I differ from you in
that I only seem to get my weights and ab work done if I go to the gym. Can never seem to get it done at home – there’s
always something else that needs my attention.SlowDeepBreaths – great job on the walking. Keep up with small improvements in time and/or distance and before long you’ll be
amazed at how far you’ve come
Odie – I continue to think a class called ‘boot camp’ is
something I’d really enjoy. I haven’t
been to my early morning class since early March and need to get back in the get
up early and get it over with habit.Beth – I much prefer a recumbent bike to the normal
kind. I have issues with my neck and the
recumbent position is much better for me.Ruth – you, too, are incredibly self-disciplined each and
every day, both going to group things and doing your own thing at home. Great job!Today for me was 18 holes of golf on a fairly ritzy, difficult course. It was an outing for our agency force (I work for an insurance company) and is a scramble format using carts (else it would take forever for 18 foursomes to finish!). Regardless, it was a very warm day with lots of sun and I started smelling my own sweaty stink about halfway through so I KNOW it was hard work! I'll be sore through the shoulders tomorrow from all the swinging, and will probably be a little stiff through the glutes and quads from so many single and double leg squats picking up the ball. Funny how single leg squats seem sooooo hard when you're doing them for a workout, but they're easy as pie when you're on the golf course....lol

Sweet, glad you had a good time at the golf outing. DH has really been pushing for me to get a set of clubs so I can go golfing with him. Looks like I will have a new hobby soon....LOL
Like you, I am much more disciplined if I go to the gym but am trying to put together a circuit training workout to do at times at home. Of course it won't replace my bootcamp class which I love for the intensity and variety.

Have a wonderful mini vacation Ruth, I look forward to pictures and a report. Sweet hope you're not too sore tomorrow. SDB little by little day by day that is how we get there, good job. Ginger very impressive, you will rock the Tri. Odie I agree my Bootcamp instructor pushes me to do things I dont think I can do, mind you I moan and complain all the way through but I love it.
Did RPM class tonight then a half hour of a class that was call Hot Fusion, it was a dance class but because I came in late I had a hard time 'getting' it.
