Cheryl, well done and my niece got engaged while her father (my bro) was here so..looks like I'll be in Newport Beach this spring for a wedding and definitely will try to hook up with you. Ginger48, I'm sure you will do a terrific job with the tri and my sister did her first half iron man in July after competing in tri's for about 7 years.  Sweet & Special, you sound back to your old self and well done on the golf.  Have fun on the date Claire.  Go Robbie The Wonder Dog! Enjoy your time away Ruth.

I'm back from a running family to Heathrow and using today as my day off.  Did a 90 minute iyengar yoga class yesterday afternoon with my boy.  It utilizes many different props and we held poses for longer periods of time than my other classes.  I like it.

I hope to make it to San Diego next summer Kindergarten. It depends on when our South Africa trip ends up being scheduled.  We still have to work that out with the outfitter and 3 other couples.

I took today off work to have a long birthday weekend. Just got back from a 75 minute walk/run (about 12-13 minutes total running).  Just after I got started on my 5 minute run interval at the cemetery I ran into my mom and her walking friends so I walked with them for a while and ran after they left.  I think my run intervals were something like 2 minutes, 7.5 minutes and then another 2 minutes.  Will report on yard work later today.

Odie, hot tub sounds very relaxing. I can’t even tell you
how long it’s been since I’ve been in a hot tub.

    bethq, good job!

Ruth, that trip sounds like so much fun. I can’t wait
to hear all about it and see your pictures!

sweetandspecial, golf sounds like fun! I used to hit a
bucket of balls with my husband every once in awhile, but never learned to
play. It sounds like really good exercise. This reminded me of your squats!!

    image

Hb, hot fusion? Oh my! There's no end to your energy.

Lilac, I’ll have to google “iyengar yoga class”. I’ve never
heard of that but it sounds interesting.

Kindergarten, I can’t think of better exercise than running
    after 4-year-olds!!!!!!

Did 15 min. walk last night. Another 15 min. this morning –
I can’t wait until I can do a full 30 all at once!!

Happy weekend sculpted sisters!! Sorry if I missed anyone - not sure how you all keep up!!

Ruth - looks like an awesome trip - have a wonderful time!

We're still plugging away decluttering and clearing out everything, even old boxes I inherited when my parents died and never really looked at.  One box of my mom's old stuff was fascinating - she'd kept the original newspaper that had the huge headline about Roosevelt's death and another one with the big headline announcing the end of WWII. I also found a mint condition program from the 1949 Truman-Barkley presidential inauguration.  Tucked in a corner was an old Baby Brownie camera.  I need to find a good antique dealer, I guess.  On the more recent side, in one of my old boxes I found a Beatles 45 rpm record - Paperback Writer on one side, and Rain on the flip side.  Headphones

Pilates DVD this morning.  Off to the cabin this weekend.

I always enjoy everyone's photos. Here's a picture from my favorite  place to walk. 56 minutes today around this lake.  Trying to catch up for being lazy earlier this week.

We walk 30-45 minutes per day, usually along a coastal route overlooking the Pacific ocean. It's the usual sites of surfers, sea birds, and the occasional Sea Lion, Seal, and Otter. The nutrient-rich waters have drawn huge schools of anchovies in recent weeks, so many that its been usually active with gray whales and other sea creatures following the food.

In addition to the extra long walk/run this morning I spent a lot of time outside, most notably about an hour push-mowing our new (incredibly lush and therefore thick) front lawn - pooped me right out, omg!

I worked only about half a day today, and took the afternoon off. Took a two hour NAP which felt divine. Followed with a bit of work and then a 5k run. Big accomplishment of the day was connecting an old friend and colleague with a potential job. He has the right background which I think is relatively difficult to find.

Gearing up for a steak dinner. Promises to be hot on Sunday so planning a swim which I haven't done this year. And never in Lake Sammamish which also should be interesting. I am thinking of cycling in.

Tomorrow is an early AM cycle, farmers market, (shower), hair trim in Seattle, and then the date. Wine bar and then dinner unless I scare away Mr. Single Chain Ring.

Gorgeous sunset tonight. However, I can see that summer is waning. But another few days for the blackberries I sampled on tonight's run. - Claire

hi all and welcome JohnSmith.  Great pix everyone!

Ruth, one of my all-time fave memories is the Badlands at dawn.  I was traveling and pulled into the NP around midnight to sleep, woke up @ sunrise.  Unbelievably gorgeous!

I've walked after work most every night this week and also this morning.  Logging 20.3 miles for the week. ♥

Teacher, I developed a seroma on my right hip after one revision. It took time and ultrasound administered by my PS to heal.  Try not to get down - soon enough, back to forward motion.

    5k run today

41 minutes of cardio (exactly) today and some leg weights. Feeling like even leg weights are stressing my chest though, maybe I need to ease up a little. Also, even though the elliptical has no arms it seems like my foobs have some bounce going on so maybe I shouldnt be doing that either....sigh

Welcome JohnSmith, posting here shows a great support to your DW.  Let her know we will be thinking about her.

ruth, et al, not quite sure where I put the little fella but, yes, the buyer did back out so realtors are showing it again.  Glad I'm not in a crush to get it sold but would just like to get it done to get on with the next chapter.

Been walking every evening and will go out now for my program's 'mandatory' 60 minutes walking today.  Did get in about 20 minutes earlier while the house showed but want to do the 60 mins at one time so going out again.

    Later my sculpted friends.

No targeted workout today but lots of garage cleaning with DS in preparation for getting a yard sale set up when DD is home the week of Aug 25.  I can actually traverse the garage side to side and front to back without fear of tripping and breaking my neck AND DH can get his truck inside for the first time in months - YAY!!!!

I've taken a step forward in the technological world - my family got me a Google Nexus 7 tablet for my birthday Smile.  DS ordered it, set it up and brought it to me when he came home last night.  So far, so good, but I'm sure I've only seen the tip of the iceberg as far as what it's got!

Patoo, you better find that little statue.  See what happened?

Oh Sweet, cleaning our garage is on the list but I really don't want to do it.  That is one of my least favorite tasks.

I walked with my son 25 minutes this evening.  I also played bocce for about an hour but I'm not sure that's enough exercise to count.  It was quite fun though.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

No formal exercise for me today but I did get some walking in while running errands plus played in the pool with my sister and niece. I also started working on putting together a circuit training plan for weekends and those days when I can't get to the gym that I got from my trainer. Bought a pack of index cards and a Sharpie. On each index card, I wrote an exercise. Will pull cards at random to perform various workouts.

Hoping it will help me get more exercise besides walking or cardio on weekends.

Hi all. Took 14 family members on a work sponsored trip to Wonderland today. Walked over 13 kms. My job was looking after 2 11year olds, 1 6 year old and a 4 year old. Did manage to get on Shock Wave and Wind Seeker but other than that it was kiddie rides all the way. Super fantastic day.

Sweet, golf is great exercise! I took the Monday coming off work so I can get in 18 holes. Going with my DH and another couple. I had to cancel my trip to SA because of the hot spots down there. When are you going?

Ruth great pics - hope you have fun on your mini vacay.

Patoo, sorry about the house not selling yet. It'll happen. Not to worry.

JohnSmith, welcome. Hope and smiles for your DW.

Did I hear someone say next year's gathering is in San Diego? I love that city. Was I invited? I didn't see an invite. Now I'm going to cry a bit. Lol.

Red yes it's San Diego (actually Carlsbad) everyone is invited, we are the more the merrier bunch, we'll be sure to let you know once the dates are finalized. LB I am so excited that we'll be able to get together, I am actually going over to Newport to live for two weeks next week once again I'm going to be the  wet blanket for my friends son, she doesn't trust his friends, she knows her house would be party central if she left him alone. TH that is a gorgeous lake. Odie what a great idea and it will be fun cause it will be a surprise when you pull the card. Sweet welcome to the new world, what a lovely gift, and garage cleaning is so nice when it's done and you'll get to earn a few dollars when you have the garage sale, so a double benefit. Patoo I'm so sorry the deal folded. SDB I love that card, very funny.

Did a Spin class this morning then a day of house cleaning and laundry.

Hello my sculpted friends!  Took a lovely hour-long walk in the cool stillness of early morning.  Logged 3.7 miles.

Red, yes everyone is invited!  Just checked timeshare again and there's a 3-BR suite (not ocean view) available for three nights if we check in 10 June but I'm going to hold out for a 4-BR (preferably ocean view).  Am checking daily now. We can always get back on the phone and ask about connecting rooms.

I live near a main road and can hear traffic if my front door is open, which it is at the moment.  There's a dissonant mix of sounds this morning: Amish buggies clopping over to someone's house for church, and a group of motorcyclists off for a ride.

Happy Sunday everyone! ♥ to all

Hi all.  Thanks for the sentiments.  I'm sure it will sell, eventually.  All in God's time, not mine!

After church took a friend to a neat place, Grounds for Sculpture, here in NJ.  It's acres and acres of outdoor sculptures, many amazing because they are so lifelike.  So got in my walking today.

He and his cart are sculpture.  (I'm real!)

    image

    Sculpture taking a nap.

    image

Couple napping on the lawn (Yep, they're sculpture; so is the book)

    image

Guy in suit and Gal in pink skirt are sculpture.  My friend in jeans is real flesh and blood.

Hmmmm, Patoo. Not sure quite what to make of this. Reminds me of the work of George Segal a few decades ago.

Update on me. Cycled 20 miles yesterday and 35 today. Date was great fun even if I was a bit worse for wear this AM. We are meeting Saturday for a bicycle ride. Mr. Single Chain Ring hasn't been on a bicycle since guess when? So ahead of the curve right now.

Plans for a Lopez Island excursion too. The most accessible and easiest to cycle in the San Juans. It can be done as a day trip.

Hot here, so curried Oregon shrimp salad for dinner. Planning a salade Nicoise for tomorrow evening. Loving this time of year and the bounty. Will be more temperate by the end of the week. YAY!!!

Thinking a swim for tomorrow evening. - Claire

    Hi ladies!

This is my first visit to your forum and I'm loving the topic!

I am 4 months post-implants and have been going to the gym and using the elliptical, light weights, etc, for a couple of months. However, just last week I went back to Jabz- a boxing studio for women. I had last been there 9/12/13- the day before my mastectomy. Needless to say, I have a long way to go to get back to my previous level of strength and fitness, but I'm on my way. Mentally, it was awesome to walk through those doors again!!

Welcome uds!  Cheryl, can't stand the NB traffic in August - good luck. Kindergarten are you also located in OC? Patoo, really like the sculptures.  TwoHobbies, that photo you put up was perfect - thanks so much!  Yesterday was terrible weather wise as we had gray, strong whippy wind and pelting heavy rain as were experiencing remnants of what was Hurricane Bertha.  This morning is clear blue skies and stunning actually.  I'll post later on exercise accomplished, for now morning coffee and a bit of tidying up around here.  This is an interesting sculpture in Philly:

Loving the sculptures! Yesterday I only walked for an hour with my sister as she was getting ready to go back to Michigan. I did make a decision to cut waaay back on my alcohol intake though! After a weekend of celebrating seeing my sister I wasn't feeling too good and couldn't remember bits and pieces....dont like that at all. So yesterday I tried to really take care of my body and hope it will continue into the week. It's hard because my husband has a few beers after work but I am going to try to stick this out.

Does anyone else limit their alcohol intake since their diagnosis?

I walked 64 minutes yesterday, which is good because its rainy this morning so I don't know what kind of exercise I'll get in today.  I hope it clears up because I have the day off and I really had planned on outdoor activities, not indoor.

Badger that is a dissonance but I would love the sound of a buggy going by.  One of my most memorable days was going to an Amish community as a teen.  It was like being in the 1800s, which I kind of loved, being a fan of the Laura Ingalls Wilder books!

Enjoy your tablet, Sweet.  I keep thinking I will get one and ditch the laptop.

Odie, that's a great idea - making a circuit.  My downfall keeps being forgetting my stretching and weights, so I'm trying to develop an idea for getting that in more often.

Red those amusement parks will get you in a good walk, won't they? That sounds like a fun day.
