Nats: Please give Mikey a special pat on the head for me.

Patoo: Enjoyed looking at the sculptures. They look so real!

Pat: The swimming hole looks so inviting!

Ruth: Love all the pictures and especially the history!

Welcome to all the new ladies and Good Evening everyone. We have been having rain, rain, and more rain. Tomorrow the weather is suppose to change and be clear with low humidity. I'm looking forward to it! I have been walking/jogging when I can in between the wetness.

Pat that water looks gorgeous. Patoo I love how you just keep going, I know I just can't run no matter how hard I try. Beautiful pictures Ruth.

Tonight Body Combat with .... Drumroll please. The wonderful Eduardo Winking I honestly thought my arm was going to fall off, then after that class jumped in the car and drove down and did Body Jam, we were about 20 minutes late but still got to dance for 40 minutes and worked up a sweat.

Had my training session last night - I love how hard he gets me to work, I tend to weenie out when I do it myself.  Realized I am making progress as now I can do those twisty plank things, when I first started in March there was no way my hands were ever leaving the ground while planking.

Came home from the gym and after a quick supper I got hubby to video me doing the ALS ice bucket challenge - fun!  Thought I would escape, but a friend tagged me.  What a viral way for ALS research to raise money, it has really taken off.

Ooooo, Cheryl - a rendezvous with Eduardo!!!  I bet the other California Dreamin' ladies who took his class with you are gonna be jealous!!

30 minute run this morning.  I saw only one bunny, but saw the mom doe with her two fawns.  They were in someone's front yard behind a split rail fence - one just stopped at the fence line and just stared at me, probably wondering what in the world this panting red-faced primate was doing running by.  It was so close I could have reached through the fence to give it a scritch behind the ears - at that point it finally realized that maybe it needed to follow mom's lead and take off!  I was so close I could even see it's little muzzle whiskers. Wow.

    Ah, Eduardo!!!!!

Skipping exercise today because it is my Book Club's annual field trip day (or as we call it 'read and feed')......we will meet at 8:30, have coffee, travel to a bigger town about 100 miles away, have brunch (one of our members just retired and moved there to be closer to her kids, she is hosting our brunch & we will get to see her new house), then shopping, a stop at Barnes & Noble where we will pick our new book (and have dessert, of course), then maybe more shopping, maybe a movie, dinner at someplace fancy, and then, just by chance, the author of the book we just read will be speaking at a community event at 7pm, so we will stay and listen to her before coming home. (The book is called Orphan Train, the author is Christina Baker Kline.)

Forgot to report last night - ANOTHER 2 hours of power washing deck and house.  Outdoor temp was about 58 degrees by the way so by the time I finished my self-imposed assignment at 7:30pm I was very grateful for water heaters and hot steamy showers...........mmmmmmmmm.  One more section of deck tonight, then on to the rest of the house siding and the garage siding, a coupla dingy looking sidewalks (that also badly need to be edged, btw) and anything else I can find.  It's quite amazing the things you decide to clean once you have that doggone sprayer in your hand!  Haven't walked/run since last Friday but do have approximately 9 hours since then of controlling the power wand emitting high-pressure water spray, reaching, bending, climbing ladders and scaffolds and pushing/pulling deck furniture all over creation to get it out of the way.  Oh, and lots of pulling the rip-cord to get the power washer started after many fuel-ups and minor interruptions.

Love the pics and the history tidbits, Ruth! That message is so funny, Cheryl! Obviously Fitbit does not know what a cheryl is. Sweet, I should just go get a sprayer in my hand and see what happens.

They zapped my left eye today with laser so am not exercising other than going to pick up my bike which I left at the doctor's as I could barely walk this morning. Will post pics later from my summer vacation.

Heidi - you should try it sometime!  I accidentally sprayed the back of a lounge chair last night and was like holy cow - I didn't even realize this was dirty until I sprayed it!   5 minutes later I had what looked like a brand-new lounge chair - it's awesome!

What's up with your poor eye?

SandS, thanks, I will continue to try.  You're right, if I can just do a little it will be enough.  Today was  either a day off or 20 mins walking only so I did the 20 mins.  Tomorrow is back to run intervals.  I need to keep it up so I can get a handle on this weight which is inching on - annoying.

    Night my sculpted friends.

hi all and welcome uds17.  Great pix & history lessons, Ruth.

Mary, sorry to hear about Mikey's heart.  He's such a little trooper and is lucky to have you and M.

Cheryl, if I knew how, I'd put your face on the Energizer Bunny!

My car died this afternoon but got it towed to a garage for a look-see.  Hopefully, it's nothing too serious or expensive.  Meanwhile, borrowed mom's car, which she's used maybe three times since moving here in March.  I'm a grateful badger!

No walk tonight (yet) but I plan to go out later, after the sun sets but before the moon rises, to see if I can spot some shooting stars.

Great job moving everyone, keep up the good work! ♥ to all

I'm whipped.  Another 2 hours of power washing tonight (total so far 11 hours over 4 days). Fitting in 2 hours of this after work and then tackling everything else on my normal evening to-do list is running me ragged, but I wanted to get it done before DD comes home the 22nd for a week (can't wait!!).  We'll be having a yard/garage sale one day when she's home so that's more evening work to tackle next week with sorting, going through closets, cupboards, basement piles of stuff, marking prices, setting up in the garage (thank goodness THAT got cleaned before the power washing started!) and so on.  Hope we actually get some down time while she's here to enjoy each other!

    Night my sculpted beauties!

Hit the gym today for a circuit workout with a couple of coworkers but wasn't quite up to par as my thighs are killing me from bootcamp last night. Going to rest up in preparation for bootcamp tomorrow.

    Have a good night everyone.

Heidi hope the eye problem is resolved with the zap, looking forward to the vacay pics, I love armchair traveling. Sweet you make me laugh cause I know exactly what's going on, you do one thing then you see something else and then another, at least when this is all over you're going to have the sparkliest house in the neighborhood. Badger hope the car problem can be resolved quickly.

Did Body Pump and Sh'bam back to back this morning, Odie I feel your pain, after Pump I could barely dance and so tonight all I did was water the garden and that took a huge effort as I was so exhausted.

Ruth - forgot to say how much I loved the pictures and the history!  To my East Coast eyes, that sure is a different-looking part of the country.  Sweet - you've gone crazy with the power washer - very impressive at how much you've done!  Good luck with the yard sale - hope you make many $$$$.  Badger - good luck with the car and hope it's something that's quick and easy to fix.

    Pilates DVD this morning.

Beth - it takes time, but it will happen for you if you keep working at it.  The first time I got on an elliptical after chemo I managed all of 5 minutes before I had to stop because I was completely exhausted!  And to add insult to injury, during those 5 minutes the machine kept blipping off because I was going so slowly. Scared  I think all of us here can share similar stories of starting out after active treatment - at the time it seems you'll never get any strength back.  But keep at it and in 6 months or a year you'll be the one here impressing the newbies with all you can do!  Happy

Granted no chemo for me but the pressure of the TEs on my chest makes me really short of breath on the elliptical and I have to go pretty slow. Yep, Im not a very patient person!

Yikes, I just lost my post with all the pics and commentary!  So this is going to be shorter...

100 years after the start of World War I, we spent our summer vacation in places formerly part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

    image image

Top photo: Prague towers and turrets. DD and DH climbed up the clock tower. I took the lift. Really glad there was one. Bottom photo: The Moldau River with the Charles Bridge further down. We biked up to this vantage point in a beautiful park, formerly someone's hunting grounds.

We had a chance to hike and bike on military roads built by Italian troops during World War I.

    image image
Top photo: Waiting in a tunnel on a road with 52 tunnels as it started raining, complete with thunder and lightning. About 10,000 soldiers died in battles here. Bottom Photo: Entering another tunnel as we decided to go back down. The tunnel is actually a spiralling ramp inside a rock formation

image (Photo from gardamtb.com) We rode down this winding miltary road starting way above Lake Garda. This was the easy part, since it was mostly unpaved lose gravel terrain. I walked/pushed a lot.

Wow Heidi....I can push/walk my bicycle with the best of them. Spectacular scenery and a reminder that I MUST do (hike) the Naches Peak Loop this summer. Perhaps with the new guy I am seeing? This after our simple ride on Saturday, and trip around Lopez Island.

Just simple walks this week, because it was blistering hot at the beginning of the week, and last night, I got back from a meeting too late from a run. I think tonight is a wine bar evening as my aerospace engineer friend Dottie is in town.

I am working on a Patient Information Guide for brain tumor patients. All the information I wish I had been given starting out. I got the useless manual as part of a study of the useless materials vs nurse navigator. They went with a nurse navigator, which was also my recommendation based on what I learned on these boards. Interesting how I am able to recycle this learning into a useful tool, and eventually for all cancer patients. (I think we will be doing a generic cancer version at some point.)

I am also working on a branding upgrade for a research firm. These are their presentation materials and they need serious work. I am one busy puppy.

Lovely to have it cool here again. Will let all of you know how my Saturday cycling date goes. - Claire

    Great pictures and history, Ruth.

I'm out of sorts today because PS said to wait six more weeks before going back to trainer due to extensive bruising and scar tissue that will need be zapped with ultrasound over the next few weeks. He said I can keep walking and I know that's good for my heart, but I miss my "real" workouts.

NatsFan- thanks for the words of wisdom. I'm trying to take it slow, but it's really tempting to go all out when I feel so good! I'll have a look at that link you posted.

    Thanks again!

Wow, Heidi! What an awesome trip and awesome pictures! Being a history nut, I would have been in heaven! Thank you for sharing.

We had fun, fun, fun on our Book Club field trip yesterday & I really did not have time to exercise because we left at 8:30 am and didn't get home until midnight! Today I did Core, came home & did a pilates DVD, and tonight I will go to Zumba (and that point will be 'caught up' from skipping yesterday).

Hang in there beth, teacher, and uds. It is definitely frustrating!!!!!

Beth - you'll get there!  You're barely 2 months out from the BMX.  I still felt like a newborn babe at that time myself but look at me now........a power washing dynamo!

Heidi - two words.     I'm.......Jealous!  (technically I suppose that's three words but contractions only count once in my bookWinking)

Claire - were you born an overachiever (lol) or is that something you've 'achieved' with your stellar determination level?  You amaze me.

Teacher - you'll get there too!  Take care of the problems first so they don't cause further complications down the road.  Walking is great for now......hang in there Smile

No workout for me today.  Took the afternoon off to drive over to Mt Pleasant (about 75-80 minute drive) for a haircut/color.  Yes, it's a long way to go but my DS's fiancé is my hairdresser and hasn't been able to make it over here for several weeks.  After a few years of frustration trying to find a local hairdresser who could get it right, Jamie nailed it the very first time I asked her if she was willing to give it a whirl.  We all know the value of having someone like that, right?  Definitely worth the drive once in a while!

btw - my deck looks awesome!!!!!

SandS - your DS fiancee does an awesome job.  I kept looking atyour hair when we were in CA because it was sooooooooooooo beautiful.

Heidi, great pictures.  I'm not a history nut like ruth but would have loved to have been there just for the scenery.

badger, hope your car is okay and not too costly.  Had mine in for servicing today and over $500. later I'm on the road.

Now, it's late but can't go away without doing something so will get on the treadmill and try to do today's program which has some running segments.  But SandS has me motivated to at least try.

hi all, car trouble was alternator, not as dear as I had feared.

Heidihill, awesome pix!  Did you go for panna cotta, joghurt torta, or ricotta strudel?

We're planning hotel rooms for California Dreaming trip June 2015 so if anyone's interested who isn't on the e-mail list, pls PM Ruth or me and will add you to the chain.

It's cooled down now from the day so will head out for a walk soon. ♥

Are there pictures somewhere of your California trip this year? Sounds like fun!

40 min of cardio today and Sweet and special I also got my hair done after my pre-op appointment (exchange is the 20th).
