Thanks so much ladies!  Funny how so many times I feel my hair looks like crap but I still get compliments on it.  I've always thought everyone else's perspective must be skewed but maybe it's mine.....lol!  Vanity, vanity, thy name is apparently 'Sweetandspecial', hahaha

beth & anyone else interested, please think about coming on our annual trip. We really have fun & it is so, so awesome to be able to meet people who have really become your good online friends & make them into real-time friends!

My legs/knees are so sore......not from exercise, but from shopping for 4 hours on Wednesday in cute sandals!!!!!! Geez......

This morning I did Insanity and then was going to take a short walk, which turned out to be a long walk because, as I was walking back toward my house, two conservatively dressed ladies with pamphlets were walking from my neighbors door and up my sidewalk. Apparently from one of those religions that knocks on your doors & grabs you unaware! Being covered with sweat, and not in the mood to engage with theological debate, I keep right on walking past my house & did another loop. When I came around again, I found they had captured the neighbor from the other side (who had innocently come out to work in his yard), and were talking away at him.......so I kept right on walking again & this time sneaked through neighbor's backyard, into my backyard, & into my house through the patio door, which thankfully I had left open. So that is how my 30 minute walk turned into an hour!

Enjoyed the photos and history Ruth and Heidihill, thanks so much! We may take a trip to the Dolomites in the October school break and have the link you put up before bookmarked. Mary,  hope Mikey is with you for years to come. Teacher, Beth and uds17, I have great empathy and understanding of working it back.  My frozen left arm and three months off the gym after surgery took a toll.  It took time, and patience which is something I too am in short supply of.

Power step with weights and body balance at the gym this morning

I got permission to do a bit more so I did 5 reps of 20 squats, leg sweeps, bicep curls and tricep. I was tired after just that little bit, but felt good. After next Wednesday I can ride, too. It was a good day!

Welcome uds!  Teacher glad you were allowed to do a little more, although I can't really understand wanting to do squats.  LOL

Really enjoying the pictures, everyone.  .  The people sculptures were so cool. I think I missed them last time.  Sometimes I think I'm on the last page and I post and then there was another page!  I'm glad I managed to notice and went back to see them.

Ruth I was always an avid Laura Ingalls Wilder reader so those pictures remind me of her books and the illustrations and scenes she describes.

Pat that blueberry hill looks like my kind of place.  A nice hike with blueberries, my favorite fruit, and then a nice cool pool to enjoy.  Yes!

And Heidi, just gorgeous scenery.  What a treat to see.  I had to laugh, I can read all kinds of foreign languages if its food!

Catching up for the week since the last time I posted was Sunday.  I walked Monday, Tuesday and tonight, 30 minutes each.

Squats reps are awesome for a great, firm, beautiful butt!  Not fun to do alone at home though - I loved the squat track of body pump years ago during a group class.  Up to 128 squats during a single song and my buns were pretty cute back then and I was going to class 3x a week Smile

I was a big Laura Ingalls Wilder fan too, books first then the TV series!

hahahahaha.......got all excited about my former buns of steel and forgot to report my exercise for today.....lol!

50 minute brisk walk after work including two 5-minute run intervals.  Slow runs, to be sure, but runs just the same.  A month ago trying to run a two-minute interval was REALLY pushing my limits.  Progress is progress, right?

    Night my sculpted beauties

Took today off (allowed by the program).  Tomorrow supposed to be beautiful so will do extra and try to do the whole walk/run session which I think is about 55 mins - yikes.

ruth, it's good you got the extra exercise but don't let anyone force you to listen.  There is a right way and a wrong way to do the Lord's work including taking 'no thank you' in stride.

    Night my sculpted friends.

Heidi: Thank-you so much for sharing your pictures. Gorgeous!

    Ruth: Too funny!!!

    Sweet: Great progress!

Hi Everybody. Yesterday dh, dd, her bf, and I went tubing down the New River in the NC mountains. We had the best time just floating with not a care in the world. Dd is starting a new job at a new school. Today we went to her classroom and cleaned, cleaned, cleaned. I was so tired afterwards that I took a 2 hour nap when I got home!

I am meeting Mr. Single Chain Ring for a date later today, but we are not cycling. He blew out his knee rollerblading. So my ride will be solo. I finally got to do a run last night and it felt great. Nice to have it really cool this AM.

Right up there with the religious folks are those selling "skills education". I really did not want to be wakened at 6:45 AM for this. So I am up when I intended to get a bit of beauty sleep. I still have an East Coast mobile number, so why the call at that hour.

I was able to take most of yesterday afternoon off, so finally got to the dry cleaners and caught up on ironing. Used a World Market coupon so have things like peppercorns and candles stocked up. Changed out the dead flowers on the dining table.

Thinking 25 miles of cycling and a long walk later. We shall see. Have a glorious late summer weekend everyone. - Claire

Hello lovely ladies. Not a lot of exercising this week. Had too many other things happening. Like a dinner cruise on Toronto Harbour last night that was super.

I did, however, have my final assessment at Well Fit on Thursday. I am pleased to report that all of my strength numbers are up. I went from a 90.5 on my right arm to 104! Same kind of progress all over my body and I lost almost an inch off my waist in 12 weeks. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I am very proud of myself.

I also stopped drinking my beloved beer 14 days ago. Sigh. I'm cheating a bit with near beer (0.5% alcohol) when I get the urge and I refuse to feel guilty about it.

My DH and I on the cruise last night with the CN Tower lit up in red in the background.

Good luck on your date, Claire!

Red, congratulations on your strength results & an inch off the waist is AWESOME! Great picture too!

Walked for 45 minutes & did 15 minutes of abs. I NEED to really clean the house, so will get some more exercise that way...blah!!!

I did it!!! I completed my triathlon this morning: 1/2 mile swim, 12 mile bike and 3.1 mile run. I am so excited. 8 weeks ago, I was on the couch doing absolutely no exercise. I feel so good!

Ruth-I also read Orphan Train and really thought it was good. Hard times for those kids to live through.

Love everyone's pictures. How do you post them?

Patoo - you are absolutely right.  Last time a couple of those young men came to the door I opened it before I realized who they were.  We had a very nice chat (on the deck), they spoke a bit of their religion and the book of Mormon, etc. They were very interested in my DH's restored antique gas pump, were fascinated by the local lake (Fremont Lake - quite large, and where the city I live in gets its name). Then I asked a few questions, told them of my religious heritage through the generations, my inherent faith and long-term membership in the church I was baptized in.  I wished them luck on their mission and we parted amicably.  Now that I think of it I should have asked them if they have a national 'do not call on' list.....lol!

Claire, do tell us all about it!   Badger, I had a beer. Sometimes that's what's needed (right, Red?).  Congrats, Red on getting stronger and slimmer. Great combination. Congrats, Ginger!

Lilacblue, you might be interested in downhill biking and hiking the iron trails (via ferratas). My two daredevils did those while I did some biking on paved paths. For the former you get a special downhill bike, full face helmet and body pads.

Zumba today with a new instructor.

hi all, was up @ 4:30 a.m. with wicked foot & leg cramps.  It's been a while since they were that bad.  Just now realized I didn't replace the bar of soap under the mattress pad when I stripped the bed and washed the linens last weekend.  Coincidence?  I think not.  It's a folk remedy that works for me.

Busy day so far: read the paper, checked on TS, caught up on threads, spent time with DH before he went to work, then ran errands.  Brought a project home and need to complete for Mon.  After Tues, my boss is gone until after Labor Day and I need some decisions made.  I also want to take a walk but it's too hot right now so will wait 'til evening but will get out there.  ♥

Woohooooooo Ginger, congratulations, did itThumbsUp Red you also get a woohoooo on both the strength and inch off your waist, that is fabulous. Ruth I had a door knock this morning, actually they rang the bell and I was in the kitchen washing up and the next thing they were banging on the door, yes I'm home but I had my hands in water and can't get there in two seconds.  Sweet I did Body Pump on Wednesday and on Thursday my quads were on fire from all those squats. It doesn't help when the pretty little red headed girl teaching the class kept saying 'go deeper'Bawling Claire have fun on your date.

Yesterday afternoon I went to a fitness convention it is meant for those in the industry but my spin instructor invited me and gave me a ticket in, it was fascinating to see all the different modes of fitness and wow some of the new equipment that is coming out was fascinating, I saw a few different demonstrations, Jillian Michaels has a new program coming out that will be available in gyms and there was an elliptical that instead of a back and forth motion it was cylindrical, a few dance programs and new spin bikes, thought of _Ann_ at the hula hoop booth, of course never did catch up with the girl who invited me as she was in a class but I ran into Jericho my Sh'bam/jam instructor and her fiancée, they were there demonstration Pump and Combat, small worldLoopy This morning was an hour on the Spin bike.

I mowed the front lawn today, 45 minutes and then I dug up old roots and shoveled and raked for an hour and a half.  I'm trying to smooth out a bed where there were huge bushes we had to take out.  The plan is to plant grass but the more I work on this project the more I think a nice layer of mulch is the answer!

I'm also doing an impromptu fast today.  I didn't feel very hungry this morning so I thought I'd try to go all day and overnight.  We'll see how it goes.  I'm pretty sure I can make 24 hours but we'll see beyond that.

Hi all.  Walked some errands.  Then stopped in Barnes and Noble and had a latte and browsed 2 magazines then walked back home.  Did some packing in the garage and now relaxing before doing more cleaning/packing and may take another walk later.  Weather is beautiful, warm but not humid, perfect for being outside.

Those of you following our CA 2015 trip, please check your email and respond.  If you are not on the list and want to join or follow us, let badger know to put you on the distribution.  Sooooooooooo much fun - just ask the ladies who hung with us for CA 2014.

    Awesome, Ginger.

Here are BCOs directions to post a picture. If they don't make any sense to you, I can write out a blow to blow description on how I do it.

How do I add an image to my message?

To add an image to a Topic or a Post, click the image icon in the Post/Topic toolbar.  A popup will appear where you can enter the image’s URL (see note below), description, and dimensions.  Click "Insert" to add the image.

Ginger, I add pix stored on my PC using the Insert Image button.

Click the icon that looks like mountains, then click on Choose File.

That will take you to your computer.  Select the drive containing the pic you want to upload (I go to My Pictures), select the file you want, then click Open.  Voila, your pic appears!
