Hi all.  Haven't done anything yesterday or today waiting after work  for repairmen to fix a couple things.  Last night they didn't show up and then they've been here all day, or was supposed to be (I guess since I was at work).  Seems most of the work wasn't done until I got home and they are still here.  Replacing my garage door opener and sounds like they have the manufacturer's service people on the phone so something didn't go in right.  Also pointing the front steps which should have been finished hours ago.  I'm not a happy camper.

Okay, breathe!  That's better.  Guess I'll put on my sneakers and jump on the treadmill.

    Night my sculpted friends.

Patoo, seems its always that way, isn't it?  they don't show when they are supposed to and don't finish when they are supposed to.

Walked 45 minutes last night and 30 tonight and now I'll do my stretches.I do always forget to stretch until I see a reminder here.  Thanks, Sweet.  I read it also keeps your blood vessels flexible and that's good for heart attack prevention.

Welcome animallvr.  Do you have a soft sports bra that you are wearing? How about a soft sock in between a sports bra or heck, maybe a piece of a maxi pad as padding?

Another very hot, humid walk/run.  50 total minutes including five 3-minute runs.  I'm getting there - running was 30% of my total time tonight!!  Went a different route so hopped in the car afterward to 1) cool off with the windows down, sunroof open. AC on and oldies blasting and 2) see how far I went (about 3.5 miles for an average of about 14 minutes per mile).  Works for me.  Now some leg lifts/reverse sit-ups and stretching, then shower (ahhhhh) and some yogurt for a late dinner.

    G'night my sculpted beauties!

tried out a new bike path near providence, RI yesterday. It was so beautiful riding right along the water and it was paved. Rode about 14 miles.

This morning I headed into school to work in my classroom only to discover they had just waxed the hallway and I would not be able to get in for an hour. I had my running stuff in the car so I went for a 45 minute jog. I am still slow but my endurance is definitely growing. Came back, stretched and made some nice progress in my room.

Oh Cheryl, I'm so very sorry to read of Frank...sending you gentle hugs.  Beth, hope the exchange is easy for you.

Body balance and yoga last night and off to power step this morning.  Big, expensive plumbing job today in our house - taking out old and putting in new immersion tank and hope the upstairs and stairs hallway carpet comes out of it unscathed.

Lilac - it's hard to keep the flooring unscathed with that kind of work going on, I know.  Hope you have considerate contractors in the house today Smile

Bethq - good luck today........see you on the squishy side!

Oh, on the bright side.......I'm wearing a sheath dress today that hadn't been out of the closet yet this summer.....YAYHappy!  It's roomy enough so it's comfortable but form fitting enough to flatter my figure nicely.  Thank God because I certainly don't look this good nekkid!  I haven't lost any weight so it must be the walking/running is starting to tone things up a bit.

Oh Cheryl! I am so sorry about your cat. I still miss my Rosalind who died 8 years ago.

Ginger....the ride along the water sounds divine. Have you done Block Island? One of the most spectacular rides ever, and you can ferry it over.

The season is definitely changing here, although still warm. Gorgeous skies the last two mornings.

Sweet...yes, exercise could make the difference. I remember a decade ago when a former colleague and I were going through outplacement. She took a good look at me and got her hide to the gym. Later, she thanked me because she had noticed the same thing.

I am down a couple of pounds, but think due to a major hormonal rush. I can see a difference too and the skirt I wore on Monday fit a lot better than just a couple of weeks ago. Just in time for the professional stylist and photos I am having done next week. Svelte is much better than chubby for these occasions.

Gosh, it's only Wednesday. I can't wait for Saturday's ride of Lopez Island. Think 30-35 miles. Promise to post pix if not socked in with fog. But expecting mid 60s for temps and glorious scenery. Lots of others with the same idea. Doing Saturday to avoid the traffic back to Seattle. Thinking too that a picnic on the rocks on the far end might be fun. I am trying to remember the last time I did something similar. Think 10 years ago with my friend Kathy on Mt Belvedere in VT. I got gourmet eats for our hike, and it was great fun eating them while looking down at the valley below.

But I don't remember the last time I did this with a guy. It's wonderful to be with someone who likes BOTH good eats and the outdoors. Plus is as active as I am. No issues with how I look either. So just fun.

Thinking more fun times to come.....plus lots of work. Life is good. - Claire

    Cheryl again, sorry about Frank.

Good news, I think. I checked out a gym just around the corner from my work and it looks great. All the high tech machinery a girl could want plus Yoga, spin and Zumba classes right before and after work . This could work for me, plus it's only $19.99 a month!

Walked the dog plus last night and did a little over 5 miles.

Cheryl, so sorry about your cat.  It's so hard to lose our pets who have been our friends for years.

Yeah on the dress fitting, Sweet.  I noticed a pair of pants are particularly lose and haven't lost any  weight this summer.  I keep bopping up an down the same two lbs but I do hope I'm getting some benefit in the firmer department.

Good luck with your surgery, Beth.

Claire I love that you found a partner who enjoys the same things and so cool he doesn't care about age.

Red, $19 a month is a good bargain.  I will have to start looking in the fall as I know I won't get out as much.

I am taking the day off to go to the doctor so I went on my favorite lake walk, 45 minutes.  I also notice the change towards fall mostly in the wildflowers that are blooming.  It doesn't feel like fall today - mid 80s and humid.

Cheryl, so sorry about dear Frank. I am glad that I got to meet him this summer. Sending a hug.

Our Wednesday Walkers were especially happy today because it is the first day of teacher workshops & we were out walking instead of sitting in an auditorium listening to a boring speaker drone on and on and on.......we were so happy, in fact, that we had to smile and use smiles on a stick to convey all that happiness!

90 minutes mow (push version) & sculpt after work - that's more than enough for tonight.  I'm bushed! DD will be coming in on Friday - can't wait!!!  Have only had her home for one long weekend since October 2013 and that weekend was for a funeral Sad.  She's here for a whole glorious week (and I'm off work), flies home on labor day.  I'll be sick of the debris trail she leaves through the house house by then but will miss her terribly again when she leaves.......sigh

(edited to change 'DH' reference above to 'DD'.  I've seen DH hundreds of times since October 2013 - sometimes it seems like it's every day.....lol!!)

Cheryl- sending you a hug; losing a pet is so painful.

Claire- I biked Block Island years ago. So beautiful! We had hoped to do it this summer but the schedule did not work out. Will have to do it next summer.

I took a vacation from exercise today. My body just felt like it needed a rest day. Getting DD organized and packed. She leaves for her sophomore year of college on Sunday.  I will miss her but not her mess...

Cheryl, sending a huge hug your way. I am so sorry about Frank and understand how hard it is to lose a fur baby.

Beth, hope things went well and you are enjoying the new squishies.

Exercise yesterday and today was clearing flower beds/garden to bed down for winter soon. Still fighting some sort of bug so  not quite up to par this week.

Thank you everyone, of course I have spent the day second guessing my decision as it happened so fast but deep in my heart I know it was right but my head well that's another thing.

Did Body Combat tonight, was in tears as Jericho my combat instructor brought me a beautiful bouquet of orange colored flowers in an orange vase as Frank was orange.

So sorry to hear about your cat Cheryl.

Been away from the boards for a few days, spent last weekend in Vermont at a wedding - got a little hike in on saturday morning which was nice, but otherwise far too much eating and drinking and not moving.  But speaking of moving, last Thursday morning maintenance came into my office and announced that they would be moving my office furniture to another building that afternoon!  I knew that it was coming, and had been trying to purge unneeded stuff the last couple of weeks, but the short notice caught me off guard. so my workdays have been spent rearranging furniture to suit my new space, and dozens of trips back and forth carrying the remaining contents of my office.  No problem getting my steps in this week! Now I am somewhat settled, but still need to empty the remaining work related stuff from other offices at the old building, since it is being razed.  So lots more steps and carries in my future.  So tired at night that I have not gone to the gym since last week, which I know is just an excuse :)

    (((Cheryl)))

    Love the smiles, Ruth!

Claire, sounds like you hit the jackpot!

Sweet, thanks for the reminder to stretch more. It only occurred to me maybe three years ago that my stiffness could be addressed with stretching. I am much more flexible now than I have been in decades but still have to remember to stretch.

Will be exercising with DD in a while. Just back from the oncologist and he wanted me to do a scan. I managed to negotiate a postponement until the fall. He said as long as I was feeling well and maintaining my weight... He also switched me to Arimidex after I told him about my eye issues (detached vitreous gel). So it's goodbye Tamoxifen. My joints loved you (hated Femara) but now I just have to stretch more.

Heidi - it's funny how the world has by and large stopped stretching just for the sake of stretching. You remember elementary school gym class where we would touch our toes and 'reach for the sky' and stuff like that?  Who knew back then how truly important that stuff really was!!!  I stretch constantly all day long, even if it's something like shrugging a shoulder tipping my head to relieve the ache and burn form sitting in front of a computer.  I've been known to go down to the women's lounge room and do my sit on the floor stretch routine just to get the kinks out during the day too.

We shall see on "jackpot". Thank you though. I will say I am glad I have an all you can eat phone plan. I also learned yesterday that he was checking me out prior to Mile 170. Somehow, I don't think this would have ever happened if I weren't toned and fit.

Did a run last night and then made a pea vine, onion, oyster mushroom, and saffron soup with chicken stock as a base. For after the ride Saturday evening. The soup has cream too. Not sure if will be better hot or cold. I had an omelet and salad for dinner. Omelet was filled with potatoes, onions and oyster mushrooms and seasoned with tarragon. YUM!

I remember walking post lumpectomy. It was either that or driving my downstairs neighbors nuts with pacing the floor. I felt much better with the three miles around Green Lake. I remember my surgeon telling me to be sure that I wasn't overdoing things, but that was before my post surgery check. She was amazed at my recovery, and gave me the OK to cycle.

Heidi....I still take ibuprofen a lot of the time pre-ride when my knees are aching. Sometimes combine with a latte. Arnica gel and I are tight too.

Do my first Toastmasters meeting tonight. I need to get better in front of groups. Not something I am naturally good at, and working solo for many years, I lost my edge. I need to come up to speed quickly, and I think I will.  When I get some money in, I may sign up for Dekker Communications during my NY visit. I did that once, and it was a quantum leap in improvement.

I am working from home this AM. Yesterday was two home runs....a database training session and then getting the next steps in the website done. I have learned that I design and the young man helping us out executes. So more work on Monday figuring out website next steps. Flash and captions are part of what we need. So is a section on National Health Policy work. My picture is part of this initiative.

Lovely late summer morning, and so nice to have it cooler.  Need to figure out what I need for $8 at Staples so I don't lose it. Think some sort of tray or organizing item.

I need to plan out my fall.....now that it is upon us. Some is an unknown, but I still need a list of fun things to do. I feel that the past week has been a personal and professional breakthrough. I see a combination of hard work and fun. Plus continuing to explore new things. And so exciting to be doing the best work of my career...it really is. - Claire

Claire - I still say you should have your own cooking show.  I've never even heard of some of the stuff you cook and/or eat!  So glad you're in such a happy place right now personally and professionally - enjoy!!
