YOU LADIES GIVE ME SUCH JOY, I LOVE THAT WE CAN ALL SHARE THIS STUFF AND LAUGH ABOUT IT! I went to the Urgent Care this morning... decided to get there right when they opened, to avoid all "those sick people"... first thing the receptionist gives me is a "mask"... and behind me walks in a few more hackers... I went in the corner and waited for my turn. I got on antibiotics, ear infection. Much like many of you, it started out with sore throat, went to sinuese, etc...

JO- I had a similar experience on antibiotics when I was in chemo... it SUCKED!

Elimar, Meece and Sheila thanks for your comments, I was concerned NyQuil would counteract with my Tamoxifen... with this said, I'm going for it tonight!

Sue, you have me in stitches over here, my ears are popping!

Cake, I am grateful you are on the tail end of this thing, REALLY it lingers!... and you have been through the ringer.

Wen I got back from the dr, my daughter says, "Really Mom, you so don't deserve this", and I honestly agreed!

CAKE, those UTIs can take a long time to get better. They are usually very stubborn. Glad you are better. I just hate being sick. I moan and groan.

Odd thing is that when my husband was ill (he died 3 yr ago) I was not sick ONE day in the 5 yrs of his illness. NOT ONE DAY. Would see the grandkids with their runny noses and never caught a cold or anything.  Managed to pick up a nasty head cold in the end of Sept (I think) and still blow my nose every AM and cough a bit. But it is really all gone and I have no need to moan. At least not about the cold. Sue

Hi everyone,  I also am dealing with a cold, yuck!  I just finished chemo on the 12th, so my immune system is still not great.  I am not on Tamoxifen until next month so I guess I have time to figure out what interactions might not be good.  I don't think it is crazy to worry about such things.  It is a whole new world to deal with.  Just with the chemo, and the meds to deal with the se's I have felt like my grandmother, taking so many drugs.  Well, I hope you all have a lovely day.

    Hugs,

    Susan

    DenverDiva,

At 42 I bought my first weekly pill box.  You know the ones tht have the days of the week on them?  Just like Grandma?  Yes, I bought one because I was unsure if I took my meds or not, so this helped alot.  I laugh everytime I look at the pill box and think:  I am much too young to need one of these!

Stopping in to wish Seyla888 and the Stage I women a good Thanksgiving week!

Don't feel like my energy is up to par going into the holiday season, but I'm thankful that my main treatments are behind me.

Nicole112, although I didn't have an ear infection (no fever or sharp pain) that terrible virus did linger and make my eustacian tubes inflamed for about two weeks.  Glad you're on the path to recovery now.

yes ladies - at 44 I bought the geriatric pill box with the days of the week - just like my Dad has.  I will say I LOVE it - and never forget my vitamins (and now femara).  It started out with anti nausea, prilosec and cytoxan pills (CMF chemo).  I actually bought one for dh and our kids - ds is on adhd meds and all of us are taking vitamin supplements and remember to do so if we have the pill boxes - each a different color!

Those of you who are sick, I'm sorry and hope the viruses clear up soon.

I am up early washing my kitchen floor.  My sister and neice are flying in today - I thought they were coming on Wednesday and really need to stop blaming cancer for my messy house!!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

    Deb,

That's what happened to me with my Tamoxifen so I ended up getting the pill box and I never have that problem again.

April, I bought one for my kids too, they both take ADHD meds and I hate when I can't remember if I gave it to them or not.   Visuals help!

    Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Linda and Deb - both are reasons we got the pill boxes!  Now that DH is so much more hands on (after chemo and rads) we both gav ds his adhd meds on the first day of school.  Scary (he was fine).

I have had to count entire pill bottles for myself and ds to see if I had taken or given the medication, so it's the pill boxes from now on!  Chemo brain?  Maybe but I think it has to do with too much going on!

    Hi Ladies,

I don't post much, but I read thru this thread and thought maybe I'd give it a try and see if anyone has any input for me.  It's a long story, so I'm going to shorten it alot.  I haven't seen my onc. in over a year. Last time I did he took an MRI which showed a herniated disc.  Seen my GP for it and he said there's nothing we can do, other than PT, which my ins. doesn't cover and he let me know my white cell counts were down.  That was in March.  Anyway, the pain has got progressively worse and the other night I was out dancing, and my legs just went out.  I felt it coming, I couldn't stand anymore.  I called my onc. about a month ago (before this) and they were suppose to call me back to make an appt.  I called again today to let them know and she said maybe I didn't need to see the onc. anymore and I should call the GP.  Sorry so long...I just have no idea what to do.  Maybe post this somewhere else?

Little-G... You came to the right place because I had a similar experience few weeks back.

I had pain like aching in my breast I waited and called my oncologist whom I still see every 4 months. He said I should call my BS, okay when I did he was going on vacation for 2 weeks

<I love both my oncologist and BS> So this is What I did waited another 5 days and took myself to ER . They did blood work US of the hurting breast everything was fine.

I'm not telling you do the same thing but it worked for me.

    Let us know whats happening.

    Good Luck

    Sheila,

Thanks so much for the post. My problem is that I am self insured and my deducitble is $5000, none of which I have met for this year.  I haven't had a mammo or breast MRI for almost 2 years now.  Since I was dx with ILC, the mammo never picked it up, so the onc. recommended MRI.  But with the economy tanking, I just can't afford it.  I am frustrated.  I have a hard time when it comes to doctors.  I'd rather not see them.   But when I can't stand for more than an hour, and my hips and spine are hurting, I think I finally need to find out what it is.  And then for them to tell me maybe I dont' need to see the onc anymore.  I don't get it.

JO..my GP is an Osteopath.  My bones have been aching for over a year now.  I did get some PT exercise's and do that, but it hasn't helped.  Advil or anything else dosn't work either.  For the most part, I just deal with it.  But I guess I thought its time for some answers.  And yes, I agree with you on the bloodwork.  Dealing with doctors is not a strong point for me.

Little-G....Are you on hormone pills? Your deductible is high but maybe you should have a  bone density test. I'm just throwing some ideas. Just keep calling and ask them What step you should take for your problem. At least one of them should give you an answer. You have to know where you stand my friend.Wink

Seyla..No, no meds for BC.  It's a long story, like all of ours.  I refused chemo when dx.  I did do the 7 weeks of rads and have my ovaries out, I was pre-menopausal.  I refused the tamox.  I got a lot of grief on the boards for this in the beginning which is why I didn't post that much regarding my tx.  But we're all different, and we all have to decide which way to go.  I don't regret any of my choices.  Like most of us, there was to much thrown at me at once.  I guess I can't ignore the symptoms anymore is all.  And it may be a disc issue and not cancer at all.  I'm frustrated at the lack of answers and I don't know where to turn is all.  If the nurse dosn't call me back again, I'll fight it another day.  Thanks to all that gave me advice.

    Hi Everyone,

Have any of you had a mammo on the affected breast?  I have one scheduled for Nov. 30 and I'm nervous.  It has been 6 months since my surgery and the doc thinks it has healed well but it is still tender.  I'm not worried about them finding anything because I just finished my rads in Aug.  I'm more concerned about the pain.  They really smash the boobies!

    Roseann,

I finished rads the middle of December 08 and had my first mammo that March and it wasn't bad. The anticipation was worse than actually doing it.................. as with so many things.

Pill box here also, one that has AM and PM.  It is soooo much better now, I don't forget when to take my meds.

Little, I am so glad you made the appt.

Just finished making my cranberry relish, I like making it a head of time to let the flavors mingle.

I am done my tx and have been NED for 30 months, but it still is very tender when my onc gives me an exam, her little fingers press soo hard I swear she can feel my ribs and I am a B cup on the left and a C cup on the right.  LOL

I have a pill box which is round, so I don't have to look at that long box. Its much smaller. If I didn't have one i would be lost. On the other hand my father who is 84 doesn't use one and he insists he knows exactly what he is doing. I don't argue with him anymore.

    Have a good night ladies!

Hi, I have been reading your posts for the last week and finally decided to join you. I was diagnosed 11/11/09 and am scheduled for a lumpectomy on 12/1. I,m not sure I know how to use this site, how to bump? How to know your in the right place? ect.Any help appriciated.  I didn't get a sports bra when I had my biopsy and wish I had. I am a D cup and my tumor is at 6 o'clock. But since reading the posts and you girls talking about front closing ones, that is what I went out and bought today. Never once thought about what it might take to get it on. Thanks ladies!!

I am 65 and live alone. Do I need to have somebody here with me or will I be able to manage alone? Some of you have had a horrible time and others say it was a breeze. I have a Navy son in Virgina and I am in Oregon. He will come home for a week if I let him
