CALLING ALL STAGE I SISTERS

happymom8285 - I was taken off the Prempro when I was diagnosed. My onc told me it was probably the culprit that gave me BC. Such a nasty pill. If the hot flashes get really bad, I will ask for the Effexor. What it would be like to not have hot flashes - heaven.
3jaysmom - Love the tree lights - got any to spare?

Jo, you know what will happen to the light "holder" if you take his lights. He'd be neckid!

Meece - neckid? LOL! The quilts are amazing. I have a friend here who makes quilts for everyone for special occasions and the amount of work is incredible. Hats off to you for being so creative.

bnickols-welcome and for what its worth I would call my doctor.
Meece-what beautiful quilts, I am envious of your talent.
3jaysmom-love the christmas lights-they made me smile.

Thank you ladies for your compliments.
When I start a quilt, it is made for someone in particular. When I complete it, it has to go to that person. (No matter what)

Meece - Let's see if I got this right - One of my favorite quilts
I am getting so smart in my old age.

Whoo-Hoo! You did it Jo!

Meece..So you already know where the quilt is going.......
When I first saw jays picture without my glasses on thought it was a tiny tree with lights.
Now I know it isnt LOL
I also caught up with the word neckid
And finally Good Morning. I see my sisters from WC are already up.
Coffee time.......

Anybody taking Arimidex? I was wondering about adding the supplement, glucosamine condroiton to help w/the side effects of aches and pains. I'm taking calcium to combat the Arimidex - but thought adding this would also help.
Anybody with opinions?
0 -
ibabie - I had to stop Arimidex and start Femara. Glucosamine would be good for both meds. My onc advised trying Aleve or Tylenol first and if that was not enough then the Glucosamine. Hopefully th SEs are temporary. I have enough stuff to take right now.

Really wasn't a big issue, till I took a seasonal merchandiser job and now feel like an 80 year old woman getting out of bed and up and down the ladder, etc... I'll stop by the health food store this week and pick some up then.
The other SE are somewhat manageable, depends on the day! hahaha.... but this one has me worried as I've always been in great shape.

I have been of Femara since April of 2007. The second day that I started it I woke up in the morning with the ends of my fingers feeling like someone was sticking pins in them. From there it just got worse. So many pains in bones and joints and I have had to have a ton of dental work done. Dentist says he does not think that the doctors really explain enough about what the medications can do to your body, including your teeth. My hair is very brittle, where it was not before and I cannot keep my fingernails smooth. I almost cried after I sat or when I would first get out of bed, because the pain was so bad. Hot flashes and dry skin. The only side effect I did not have was weight loss, which I would have welcomed. Only within the last month have I seen any relief. I have been told that people just stop taking the Femara because it was so bad. However, I also have talked to people who had no problems. I think our bodies just tolerate some things better than others. They did offer to change my medication three weeks ago, but since I have been taking it since April 2007, I did not want to take a chance on anything else in my system and the side effects have lessened. Ever prescription that I get says THIS PRODUCT CONTAINS A CHEMO AGENT. I guess that is the reason for so many side effects. I really hope that you are one of those who have no problem with the medication. Best of luck to you.

jo1955-- I went through premature ovarian failure at age 40. I was on the prempro for many years then had a total hysterectomy in 2000 and was switched to just premarin. In my opinion, I don't think the estrogen had anything to do with my bc. I took estrogen of some kind for 17 years. Much more than the average taker. I've had breast issues for over 30. I know it's certainly personal, but I really don't think taking the pills had anything to do with my bc. However, now that I know my BC is estrogen fed, I quit. According to the info I got when first dx, by the time we feel a lump the cancer has already been there for at least 8 years! So it seems to me, if we are already predisposed, it's gonna happen! :-) The "good" far outweighed the "bad" in my case. Choices, choices, choices! What is one to do? :-)
3jaysmom---my, my, my!! love it! I wonder if I decorated my DH..........twinkle, twinkle.
And those on Femara, Tamo, or Arimidex, if it's not working for you, try something different. They all have different SE's that don't affect everyone the same way.

happymom8285 - My BC was picked up on a routine mammo and because of the location would never have been found by doing the self exam or any exam of that type. All mammos in the past were clear. I have had my surgeon and onc tell me in their opinion the Prempro was the culprit - but then again I was on hormone pills for quite awhile to control fibroids and heavy period bleeding. Who really knows? What I do know is I won't do any estrogen again. After the bad SE with Arimidex is am hoping the Femara works.
You are right - if we are predisposed there is nothing we can do about it but just deal with it.
bnichols - So sorry to hear you are having to deal with so many SEs from Femara. I know each person reacts differently to meds and each of us could tell a story about what we went through and how we dealt with it. It's not fair what we have to go through to try and stay healthy.

Meece I am so sorry to hear about your sister-in-law. Sympathies sent your family's way. Have a safe trip.
Sheila I am sorry I missed you maybe we will catch each other today somehow or not I am off work waiting to hear from the docs office. I of course am having much anxiety, but I know that is to be expected. May try to dig out an old Xanax and take it. Doubt it will help though they don't really seem to.
Barb thanks for the prayers and the B9 vibes they are kindly excepted.
Everyone think of Val today if I remember correctly I believe this is the day that she was going with her DD to see the surgeon( ? )

Thank you for reminding us, Mimi. Take the Xanax, it may just take the edge off. I will pray that you get the results soon so you don't have to stress longer than you must.
Val, prayers for you and your DD as you see the surgeon.
