So Sheila, what was the main topic in your dreams last night???????????

Deb, glad that you have a happy feeling today instead of a "Holey Crappy" feeling!

I have been reading this thread for awhile now and love it. (I posted something once). I feel like I have to tell you all something that happened to me today and see if this ever happens to any of you all:  I went to have my eyes examined and the doctor asked me about meds I am on.  I explained I was dx w/BC and will be taking tomax (haven't started yet).  She asked if I had node involvement, I said no. As we are talking, I have my face behind the machine you look through to see the letters, the doctor tells me I should have my eyes dilated (not necessarily today)  She explained, although the risk is very low the cancer can travel to the eyes. What letters can you see on the bottom line?  Well, I started crying just for a moment, I did not want to, but I couldn't help it.I know I will be fine, but why do my emotions get the better of me at the most unexpected times? Does this happen to anyone else?  I was telling my DH about this, he is so funny, he said,"no one told me this could cause me to lose my eyes too!!!"

    nmi-

I am an emotional person prior to bc and definitely after... my hubby always says, "God didn't skimp on the emotions with Nicole!" I cry to every movie, every story... an overly passionate person to say the least,... so yes, I do relate to your eye exam and the tears. The dr gave you something more to think about... you never thought going to the eye dr was going to give you anxiety and now ALL appts get you anxious!

I am trying to catch up on the "sphincter" conversation... I think I must google so I can relate :)

Okay ladies, off to host a slumber party for my 11 year old, she is having 7 girls over tonight! Am I crazy??? And, yes I went overboard and spoiled her to pieces... she is my angel, even if she is a preteen! My 2 yeard old on the other hand, she is my little pistol! Keeps me on my toes!

I'll check in tomorrow and let you know I survived!

Okay, so I couldn't go prep for the party before I googled anal fissures, I learned something new today :)

Have a great night ladies, and welcome all the new ladies!

BTW- I mentioned I have really deep and hard scar tissue, I also shared that I have lymphedema and I go to therapy three times a week, well my therapist says my scar tissue is not getting any softer after all these therapies, she is recommending I go to a plastic surgeon and see if they can inject small cortizone shots! I am apprehensive... never thought about it... I guess it is something I can research!.. or something else to ask the doctor. Also, not sure if any of you Stage 1ers are taking Zometa treatments every 6 months, but I am due for my infusion in the next few weeks. It makes you feel like you have the flu... I haven't read about many of you doing this maintenance drug... it is every 6 months for the next 5 years, suppose to help my bones! I've only read about woman in "late" stages getting it, my dr is cutting edge, please share if you are doing this!

    Thanks!

WinkWelcome Katie, I am a relatively newcomer as well, just dealing with the uncomfortableness of the TE and hot flashes.  I too am being educated on this site. I am now on Arimidex and everything is going along smoothly, thank God.

I will be away for 2 nights on business with my husband, and will miss this site. Will be back Wed. A.M.

It is snowing here in Jersey, but it really is pretty and I really appreciated the snow for the first time.

Everyone, I love all the animations all the creative ladies have posted. Keep well everyone, be back Wed. A.M.

Thanks Nicole, I guess I am like that too!  Sometimes it just takes even me off guard when I cry. Nice to know there are others out there too!

Question- Why is there such a difference in the number of nodes biopsied, even if there is no involvement?  I have noticed number such as; 0/1, 0/8, or 0/17. Does anyone know why the surgeons do this?

nmi...I do think about the same thing sometimes. I had a SNB I believe if that one is tested negative they don't take any more out. Because its been said that cancer cells cant skip the first node and go to the next one, maybe another googling is in order.

Nicole....I wasn't the only one didn't understand Deb condition was I  ?. Are they doing bone density test every 2 years.? Femara is slowly making my bones holier, but my PD says you can wait 2 more years for Bonita. Zometa should be standard therapy for every women who is ER+

No I am not on Zometa. I was just thinking outloud.

rongt ...Have a safe trip its lousy outside. I had my eyes examined short while ago she didn't say anything about dilating my eyes

Isn't this place amazing?  We can talk about anal fissures and hormones and roller coaster emotions, and still we have ladies wanting to join in.  Obviously no man would ever want  to impersonate a lady and chime in, these are definitely not topics of interest for the male gender.

    Welcome all newbies.

Nicole...betcha your having fun right now with your 11 yo and 7 girls!  I have an 11 year old girl too, and she's wanting a sleepover on her bd in February...and you know what...I'm going to spoil her too!

Actually, guys...there was another thread started the other day asking what things we do different  now that we have BC.  You know the one thing I do different?  I'm not such a CHEAPSKATE, LOL!  I spoiled my 4 kids for Christmas this year (8 gifts rather then the usual 5--that might be spoiling for some and not for others but there it is Laughing), even tho' we're a little short on cash...but I didnt go into debt or anything.  I figure...if there is a chance that I'm going to "croak" anytime in the next 10-15 years, I want them to remember this Christmas and every other memory I can give. They are grateful kids, and I know they will appreciate it.

nmi--when each person gets injected with that radioactive dye, whatever nodes light up on the xray are the nodes the docs take out because if they light up, they might have cancer in it.  So 6 of my nodes lit up and they took those out...fortunately all were negative (whew), but that's how it works I think.  Also, sometimes they take all of them out if they suspect cancer in them.

I have been on Arimidex since July 07, so far so good, some joint and muscle pain but I take Advil when it gets the best of me.

It's getting late in MA and snowing we may get 5 inches, guess DH and i will be shoveling tomorrow.

nmi, cakeisgreat is correct.  The surgeon injects dye or radioactive material, in my case it was the blue dye (which, as a side note, makes you pee blue for a day or so), into the tissue near the tumor.  Theoretically, sentinal node will be the first one that receives the dye.  This means that the cancer cells which might be "escaping" the tumor would affect the sentinal node first.  In my case, the dye traveled through the sentinal node before they could get to it, so they had to take all the blue nodes, thus, 0/16.

I definitely have no medical educatoin, other than my experience, but this is how it had been explained to me.

It is difficult to get in the cozy holiday mood when you don't even need more than a short sleeved t-shirt all day.  I was baking and had to open windows to cool off some.

Makraz, you look like you really enjoy the sun.  Our biggest weather issue is fog.  Most days it will burn off by 8 or 9 am, but it can come back by late afternoon.  I am cold-a-phobic as my kids say.  So when the tempis under 50 I am cccccccold!

So...ages and gender of kids... I don't have any girls, and would be happy to become Auntie Meece!  DH and I serve in the nursery at our church every other week.  We get to play with the babies who are new to walking.  DS and DDIL have been married 3 1/2 years but aren't able to get pregnant yet.  We try not to talk babies around them.  SD has one 2 yr old, but she is withholding him from DH because she is mad that he married me. So, we have aching arms for little ones, although older ones can be fun, too.
