I hate all the 'Happy Birthday' and CTCA commericals...I am sorry but not all cancer survivors are healthy, happy people...

Jo ~ Do you have room for me in your pocket for tomorrow's Mamm? Yes, just take the meds for pain & breathe slowly to relax, that's what I do. It helps. (hug)

Annette ~ Thinking of you as well. (hugs)

Sheila ~ I just HATE those commercials - I run to the mute button if it's close. SLAP - SLAP !!

Well, I just found out some news this morning from my DD#2. She is 32. She found a lump in her left breast just before Easter, so she knew this when she & family were here for the holiday. She didn't tell me because she didn't want to me majorly worry, to freak out, (who, ME??), & to, just, well, you know. Anyway, she went to the doctor, had a mamm, (had pain under breast on right side at rib area, so had both sides done), US, MRI, biopsy, & it is just a fibroadenoma. THANK THE LORD.

She wanted to tell me so much, but she knew how very worried I was about DD#1 last Dec, that she just didn't want to put me through that again. I would have liked to have known I told her, but I understand her reasoning. That's not important in the long run anyway.

Both of my DD's have had fibroadenomas when they were younger. I told her to be sure to get a copy of the biopsy report & the MRI. She got copies of mamm & US. They told her she was right to contact them immediately because of her family history. Damn this crap!!! I hate lumps/BC & everything that goes along with it!!!!

Okay, I'm calm again ~ I just wanted to tell you this because you understand my fear of either one of my daughters getting bc.....

Valjean - I am so glad your DD#2 is okay.  What a scare that must have been.  I hate this damn disease - it does not care who it effects or when it will crop up.

There is still plenty of room in my pockets.

I just got the reminder call to be at the imaging center at 8:00 in the morning with my referral and insurance information.  Now the reality is setting in and the anxiety just went off the scale.  I am going to take my pain meds with breakfast and all the other pills I take and hope that I get a tech that is gentle.  Also hoping to get my results tomorrow - that is the part that worries me the most.  My onc was the one who ordered the mammo and I don't see him until the 20th.  I will probably go crazy if I have to wait until then.  Will let everyone know what happens.

Jo - I have already had my first mammo and it didn't feel any different than previous ones.  The techs were super gentle but no pain at all.  I hope it is the same for you.  I'm there with you as well.

raincitygirl - Last year I had my annual screening mammo in July and that one was uncomfortable.  Then had to go back for a diagnostic & US.  That mammo just about did me in it hurt so bad.  I thought the tech was going to squeeze my boob right off.  I am hoping for the best tomorrow but prepared for the worst.

Jo - I'm scared too.  And afraid of the mamo, the one last year hurt so bad I almost screamed.  And now I have the after effect of surgery and radiation to make it more tender!  I check in at 10:15 tomorrow.  Wish it were earlier so I could get it over.

I'm thinking you girls have some insensitive, inexperienced techs on the mammo machine.  I mean really, the squishing is majorly uncomfortable, but it shouldn't HURT HURT! Ask for someone else to finish if the person you start out with makes you want to scream.

Jo - giving you a big hug and jumping in yourpocket tomorrow. You will be ok with all of us with you. the pain meds should help too...hell...that did not even occur to me until you said it....might wear my ipod next Tuesday!!! (hell..guess i can't since it is an xray....ARGH!)...going to drop my tamoxifen off too...they have a donation box for any unused cancer meds you have so they can check them over and give them to cancer patients who are not on medical....that will feel good doing something for someone else on such a shitty day.

I decided on some retail therapy ...bought some sandals that don't hurt my feel and plan on tossing out the others into a value village or sally ann bag....they won't hur someone else's feet. just can no longer wear a heel...so...naots here I come.

Sue...I can't wear racer back bras or bathing suits either...kill my back. I have three old warner sport bras that I have been wearing to the ground since bc...just don't feel terrling supported or sexy in them but then I don't feel tha way anyhow so I guess hat is not key right now....painfree bra wearing is key! I found some support camisoles at walmart that i like...but the band on th eleft side is digging in to my shoulder so...need to sort that out and go to the fabric store in my mall at school and get some padding.

Jo/Chabba/Annette- i would a. tell the technicians how scared you ar ebecause you are still really hurting from rads...I expect that will do the trick....bring a friend or give yourself a treat afterwards...coffee, a 20 minute break before you return to work...a good cry in the car..whatever you need....I will split myself into tiny pieces...might just sit on your shoulders instead of your pockets so I can remind you all to breath when you need to....ok the rest of you...I have staked out the shoulders!

    hugs ladies..breathe!

Sandee - If you are going to hop on my shoulder, please hop on the left one.  My hearing is better in that ear.

I am going to let the tech know my concerns and that I am scared.  It was not a pleasant experience last year and I did not have a lump scar that was in the way of the bottom plate.  I am going to insist they do the right one first and then the bad boob last.

JO and Chabba I am in your pockets with you,

I agree with Raincity and Eph I have never had mammo's hurt.  Maybe a little uncomfortable from the squeeze but never painful.  The one I had two months ago was the first since surgery and radiation and even though I have the nerve damage and pain the tech was great.

Ok now I have a question for those of you who had rads a while ago.  My rads field hit half of my underarm so that hair does not grow.  I still have to shave the upper part of that underarm.  My question is will the hair every grow back or how long before you know for sure if it is going to grow back.  I am thinking if it does not grow back I am going to do laser hair removal on the remaining so I don't have to shave at all, but want to wait and make sure.

Sherry....I am one of those which hair never grew. (complete arm pit not partial)

And the strange thing was that good side armpit didn't have any hair the first 2 or 3 years.

    good Morning♥

Good Friday Morning Ladies - Back from the mammo and the rad tech was super gentle - it did not hurt at all.  It also helps that I took a pain pill before I went.  I have to wait until Monday and call my onc to get the results. She had me wait while the radiologist looked at the views and no additional squeezes were needed.  I am taking that as a good sign. Hate the dreaded waiting game.  Not going to stress about it.
