Duckyb, LOL! Let me know if you find out which crops would be right for "under-the-bed gardening," and I can give it a whirl.

I've been taking Arimidex for several months. I am done with menopause--the hot flashes and night sweats for 6yrs now. SO, now that im taking the estrogen blocker the same symptoms are back. Another 5yrs.? Is there another hormone that wouldnt put me back in the menopause and waking up in a puddle?

Should have been to bed a long time ago, but keep on reading these posts. Trying to get caught up. Had a fantastic time with the little ones! They are my light, that's for sure. Lots of hugging & playing, more hugs & games.
Priceless ~ ~
Jo ~ What an Angel you are.
((((( ♥ Sheila ~ hugs ))))) Congrats on the 10,000 posts. I flew through the party on my way here, will certainly go back & see if there are any leftovers. Hope you put some in the fridge. I have missed you...
((((( ♥ K ♥ ))))) I'll write soon!

jo, You got that Christmas spirit (all year long!)
Val, Sounds like you had a good time up in the cold north woods of MI. I bet the grandkids kept you hoppin' so much that you never even felt a chill.
ubnsmiley, You make me happy that menopause and Tamox. all appeared at the same time for me. I knew I was in for hot flashes one way or another. What has me really worried is that some women have reported that they continue to get them for years after menopause (not due to Tamox.) A 70 year old was writing about them. Geez!

I haven't had any menopause symptoms yet since my hyst/ooph last Friday but my poor mother endured hot flashes until she had a bad heart attack when she was 80 years old. For some reason, they stopped then and haven't been back these last 7 years. Crazy.

Never had any symptoms during menopause, not one................I wouldn't know a hot flash if it came up and introduced itself, and had my period till I was 56..........one month, ............nothing,...............and that was it............the end.................however,..............Femara is giving me a little kick in the ass...............nothing serious, b ut its not as easy as menopause...................................Oh still don't get hot flashes.........................except when I drink too much Vodka.................Hi Granny......................

I had my first hot flash last night but despite it, I had my best night of sleep that I've had since the surgery so I'm not complaining!
My sister was blessed with no hot flashes either Ducky and I think I would have had periods till 56 with the way it was going! My grandmother didn't stop until she was 60. At least I don't have to worry about that any more!

Wow! You gals have been busy...lots of news and gossip to catch up on and yummy food to try! It's been a rather tough year and I finally have had a little break (it's been almost a month since I've seen a doctor!) so I've been trying to step away from the mirror and the computer as much as possible while I have the opportunity to focus on the rest of my life. Back to it in January and February with an MRI then another round of appointments with MO, PS, and BS.
Today is my first cancerversary. One year ago today I had my first round of biopsies and I got "the call" later in the day about the first cancer (ILC) that was diagnosed. Totally floored because the MRI a few days prior was not done because of anything suspicious, but because I had very dense breasts and was tired of the non-diagnostic needle-in-a-haystack mammograms. I fought for 6 months with my insurance company to have it done. No lumps, no family history, "normal" mammogram - I just got it in my head that I wanted an MRI as a baseline screening and had no suspicion that anything would actually be found. Initially thought that lumpectomy/radiation/hormone therapy would be the treatment, but all changed later in the month when the rest of the biopsies were done and the DCIS was also discovered.
To celebrate, I emptied all the pre-BC bras out of the lingerie drawer a few days ago to make room for all the pretty new ones. And it seemed a good time to pack up all the "get well" and "thinking of you" cards that I've had displayed all year to remind me of all my supportive family and friends. Make room for the beautiful holiday cards that are rolling in. I have a very nice bottle of wine and I'll splurge and maybe have TWO glasses tonight!
I know you all get it. My wonderful DH, some of my family, and one friend (diagnosed 2 years prior to me) really do get it. Now that implants are in most everyone else just wants everything to go away and be OK. Despite looking at 5 years of side effects from hormone tx and more corrective reconstructive surgeries in my future I keep hearing from those that don't get it, "Yay, you're ALL DONE! You caught it so early it's like you didn't really have breast cancer at all"....huh????? As I said, I know YOU LADIES GET IT so 'nuff said.
Thanks for listening. Even though I'm not a frequent poster on this thread I do keep up with it. Have a great day!!!

Congrats, TinaT, on your one year milestone!
I've heard that hot flash tendencies can run in families. totally not true for me. My mom said she couldn't even remember having one, whereas I have lost count of then many I have had.

Thanks all! It's after midnight so I guess I officially survived it! Did just fine all day - it will probably hit me Friday like a ton of bricks when I least expect it and then the tears will flow!
I've been one of those who chose NOT to share with the whole world. I'm a very private person and had a few bad experiences early on feeling like I was being grilled in a public venue. Disagreeing with my choices ("You need to see my friend's surgeon" or "I think you're being awfully drastic to have a bilateral mastectomy if you don't have to. Why would you do that? You need another opinion!") or staring at my chest to try to figure out what I'd had done if I didn't supply all the details....ugh! Small town where everyone seems to know everyone and all that. Couldn't seem to get it across to a few people that just because I didn't feel a need for EVERYONE to know didn't mean I wanted to do it alone or that I didn't have support.
These threads have meant the world to me over this past year. Advice and commisseration from others in my shoes, going through the same thing at the same time or, better yet, just ahead of me to prepare me for what lies ahead. Except, no two paths seem exactly the same so there are still always surprises along the way to keep it exciting . Anyways, thanks to you all!!!

Sorry it's a day late, Tina.

You ladies have been busy! I have been fighting an upper respiratory infection since the 25th of October. It has wiped me out and I am exhausted when I come home from work. I have to do the stuff that has to be done instead of reading up on the threads. Hope to improve enough to keep caught up here.

Congrats, Tina ( I'm a day late too, sorry! ) A milestone for sure. I celebrated my one year last month. And you're right about some people thinking ( and saying ) "Yay, your done. Aren't you glad it's behind you?" Hmmmm......well, I'm glad I caught it early, and treatment was not as horrible as I was expecting, but behind me? Not yet anyway. Not until 5 years of tamox is done, and frequent doctor appointments, and all that. But those who haven't faced cancer don't really know what it's like. They can't. That's one of the reasons I love this site ( and ALL you ladies ) so much. Total understanding. Glad I can come here for support whenever I need it. You guys rock!
Welcome CWinkler! Sorry you have to join our little club, but we are all here for you whenever you need support or have questions.
((((everyone))))

Thanks again everyone. Off to a follow-up appt. with my local BS (not the one who did my surgery, but the one who will be my long-term follow up BS). Then, a break for the holidays - yay!

(((Meece)))
It's been a slow month for me.
Almost no Dr appointments.
I'm always hungry i don't understand what's happening.......I never feel full no matter how much i eat. Blood work is normal. Weight is climbing.................
I shouldn't be complaining and be grateful but I don't feel happy lately.
