let me start introducing myself..I was 53 when diagnosed
And 64 when I was diagnosed with a new primary
I have 2 adult daughters and 3 precious grandchildren 2 girls and 1 boy the oldest one is over 3 years old the middle one just turned 2 and the baby boy is 17 months.
I'm so grateful we all live in the same town
I'm a very lucky woman to be here and spend time with them
My 2 daughters were pregnant when I was diagnosed....
TO BE CONTINUED......

Shelia ..what a great idea to introduce yourself !!!
Here's mine ...I was 55 when diagnosed 3 years ago ...I felt as if my world had fallen apart ..and BC occupied my every thought ...Time has been a great healer ..and I usually manage just to enjoy each day now ...unless I happen to have a pain of any kind anywhere ...or tests coming up !!!! Then I am a basket case 😱
We have 3 kids ...2 daughter's and a a son ..8 grand-babies ..the eldest is 7 ..so we have very hectic ( crazy ) family get-togethers regularly , as we all live less than an hour from each other !!!!..like Sheila I feel very grateful 😃
I also feel very grateful to have all of you here to talk to each day as well.!
Life is Good 😘

Susug, probably the combination of Stage I, Grade 1, only 4mm and (I presume) hormone-positive/HER2- led to the recommendation to skip chemo, especially if OncotypeDX wasn’t widely covered back then. (These days, your tumor’s clinical features & biology would be clear indications that chemo wouldn’t be warranted and therefore no need for Oncotyping). But that second diagnosis—contralateral, DCIS rather than IDC—should be more comforting. Highly unlikely to recur if treated with surgery, radiation & anti-hormonal therapy.
BB, I’ve read that the “5 yrs NED=‘population' risk” (i.e., the 12% risk for someone who never had bc) applies to triple-negative invasive bc. Those of us who are Luminal A, B or “HER2-type” (either triple-positive or hormone-negative/HER2+) are never really off the hook, no matter how long we’ve been NED or how aggressively we’d been treated. Those of us diagnosed later in life (60s or older) are statistically likelier to die of something else before our IDC recurs, unless we are otherwise healthy enough to live well into our 80s or even 90s.
To put things into perspective, though: my son’s ex-girlfriend’s mom (a lifelong smoker and, till she remarried a teetotaling Evangelical, more-than-“social” drinker) was diagnosed a year and a half ago with Stage IV pancreatic cancer (not the rare slow-growing Steve Jobs variant). She had a Whipple, radiation, and chemo; and went back to work full-time. But this past week she was diagnosed with non-small-cell lung cancer (not sure what stage, the ex-didn’t say). Mets? Nope—a new primary tumor. So much for “one cancer at a time.”

Wow, Sheila! See what you started? 15,000 posts and I was the one...thanks for letting me know.
I hope the new ladies here will come back and keep it going...so many have found this thread over the years and met lovely people and gotten the help that was needed.
I hope that the effects of the hurricanes did not affect anyone here adversely. My area will get a brush from Jose's wind and rain, but it looks like it is moving away from the coast.0 -
Joan ..The hurricanes have been followed on the Australian news ..so frightening !!! ..I've been thinking of you all .
School holidays here ..so have been busy with grand-kids sleeping over ..Hubby has been making them a dolls house ..!!
Hugs to all !

I've got five granddaughters age 7 - 1. They are all going to be flowers girls at our youngest daughter's wedding next weekend. The one year old just started walking. It is going to be so cute.
We had a granddaughter sleepover a couple months ago with the four oldest. I'm still exhausted from it.

Farmerlucy...Oh ..how special having all the grand-babies as flower girls !!! I can imagine all the great photos the photographer will get ..!!!
Susug ..enjoy your grandson's birthday ! One is such a great age ..so much easier than when they become Terrible Twos and the Troublesome Threes ..HaHa ..they're lovely at every age 😃
Bosum ..I'm sure you will be a wonderful grandmother when the time comes !!! My Mum died when I was 21 , so didn't get to see my children .. which still makes me so sad ..
Sheila .I think one at a time is the best way for sleepovers ..they get to be the very special person and have you all to themselves !!!
We are moving house.. .going to build the next one !.Our house here settles at the end of October ..so going to be very busy between now and then ..I'll need you girls to keep me sane !!!
Hugs to all ..

I lived at my current place since 1983 before that I was in the same building on the third floor I moved to the first floor because I have my private yard....children were very young then..
Every night after they fell asleep I used to move all the small things downstairs...
It was the best decision I made I bought a small pool for the children..
Now grandchildren play in the pool.......not the same pool of course LOL 😀😀😀
I'm grateful.....
Sheila ❤

Sheila..Wow ..that's a long time to have lived at the same address !!! I used to work in a nursing home up until a couple of years ago ..and one of the residents there had lived in the same house her whole life ...she was born there , her and her hubby stayed living in the house with her parents after they married , and she only moved to the nursing home at aged 95 after her Hubby passed away ..She had a photo of the house on the wall ..a picture perfect white timber cottage with a picket fence , and pretty garden !

Forgot to add ..( this is like a PS 😃 ) the 95 year old lady had breast cancer , and a mascetomy 30 years earlier ...and at age 90 they found cancer in her remaining breast ...but decided not to treat it except for tamoxifen , and friends that still work there told me a few weeks ago that she's still alive and going strong 😃

Morning all. Welcome Dodes. I'm just down the turnpike from you. Can't wait for the cool weather this weekend. Lucy - great story about your 95 yo friend. I moved a dozen times as a kid, but since I've been married (35 years) we've lived in two places. I love my house. We laugh because we're reaching an age where we think - bathrooom remodel? nah, the next owners can do that.

Afternoon all... my baby Jax birthday was great! Completely worn out but fun. I have noticed lately I'm fatigued a lot. Went to MD today for my yearly routine test results...... I'm in stage 3 renal disease WHAT! Crap!!!! He said probably due to my heart Ugg! Yep I have heart issues since 2005. EF of 35 to 40. Im so bummed. I have my mamo Oct.13. I have been worrying about that for about a month. I'm having a problem with my right nipple (DCIS side) its scaly and ruff. My skin doc did a biopsy on it a couple of months ago with neg results gave me medicine went away for a few weeks how it's back. Has anyone ever had the problem with DCIS. Now I have to tell my husband.... I need a stiffdrink

Sheila.... no I have never had chemo I have had cancer in both breast... 2 years apart. Lumpectomy and rads on both. 2014 then 2016. I have heart disease this caused my kidney problems from what my MD said today. Having a ultra sound to see how much damage.i really hope this next Mano is ok. But this ruff, scaly, itchy rashy nipple is bothering me. Thank you for hugs.

ChiSandy ....... you ask me about chemo on a earlier post. The reason I have never neede chemo is. In 2014 my IDC cancer was ER -my second cancer opposite breast was DCIS they only require you to do radiation.

(( Susug )) ...so sorry to hear about your doctor's appointment ..honestly , if it's not one thing , it's another ..re the nipple , during the last summer my remaining nipple ( I've had a mascetomy ) did become irritated and itchy for a couple of weeks ..I was starting to worry , and placed some padding between my bra and nipple which really helped ..I think it may of been caused by a combination of the heat and rubbing on my bra ...its good you've already had it biopsied ..In your pocket for your ultrasound and while you wait for your mammo..
Hi to all xx
Edited for spelling mistakes, missed words ,etc etc !

Lucy.... You are so right but with me it's not one thing, it's 3!!!!!!things. I went back to look at the years all the health isssues started. In 2010 I'm just clicking a long having fun in a healthy life. Then one day I was dizzy BAM! Found out a virus attracted my heart. My EF was 30. They almost put a pacemaker in. Put me on meds and I got better. Not great but felt better. EF now is 35 to 40. So I got use to dragging around it just became what you call TIRED!! The 2012 my twin passed away I'm still not over that. Then in 2014 cancer left breast lumpectomy and rads. Two yrs later 2016 DCIS right breast with rads.so far no chemo. Don't think heart could take it. NOW! Kidney disease. I was so pissed when I left drs. office. Three diseases and none have a cure ugg!!!! This is strange but with cancer at least they can take it out and treat it with this kindney no meds nothing. If you passed me on the street you wouldn't know there was anything wrong with me. On the outside, the inside is fallin apart. Sorry about the rant I'm still in a fog over all of this Thank for this place it feels safe.

Susug ..sending hugs ..you've been through way too much ..I don't blame you for feeling pissed ..! So sorry that on top of all this you lost your twin sister ....I have twin 5 year old grand-daughters , and although they are not identical they are like peas in a pod !! .Do you have a date for your scan organised ?
0 -
yes I have my diognostc mamo oct.13th. I also have a ultra sound of my kidneys Mon. Oct 3 rd. Called today to see if I could do them both mon 3. They are working on it. Yesterday I went through my patient portal to look at my blood work. I went all the way back to 2013. My kidney levels were low then. I'm very upset with this that I wasn't told. I think they didn't even look at it these last few years because they have been low several years now.

awe! I bet your 5 year old twins are fun. Me my sister were like two peas in a pod. There is a closeness that's hard to explain. I feel like part of me is missing. We we're so close and our husbands were best friends. Life can change in a minute. Hugs Sus
