We are having a combined Easter Celebration /Hubby's 60th birthday party at a restaurant today ...with family and friends joining us ..Hubby's not too happy about turning 60 ..I thought he wouldn't care ...but it's been playing on his mind the last couple of weeks 😲...

My grandson is here!!!! He was born last night at 11:15 pm after 26 hours of labor!! I talked to her yesterday morning and she said she had been having pains since 9:30 the night before. I asked her why she wasn't at the hospital!! She thought it was false labor because the pains weren't consistent. I told her to call the doctor and at least ask him. So she did and he had her come in to be checked. Well, he sent her straight to the hospital!! He said she had been in labor for 12 hours!! I got to witness his birth!! A first for me because my children were adopted!! Very special!! In the room with her was her husband, her sister, me and her birthmom. He weighed 8 lbs 5 oz and was 21 inches!! He's a big boy!!! Missed my birthday by 24 hours and 45 minutes!! I kept asking her if she could hold off!! Lol

Congratulations, Oceanbum! My grandson will be 2 on April 19 - there is absolutely nothing like it! Watching them transform in tiny humans is just incredible.
Enjoy every minute!

Becky ...Congradulations !!! 🙂 Gosh... he is a big baby , and especially seeing he arrived early ! My 2 daughters and DIL all had C -Sections , but I was at the birth of my last grandson and actually cut his cord ..which was so exciting...His Dad had fainted ( he can't stand blood ) during her previous 2 deliveries so I went in his place !!!!!
Oh.. how "inconsiderate " of your daughter not to hold off another 24 hours and 45 minutes 😋🤗💖

Becky, congratulations on your new Grandson! How exciting! Grandchildren are the absolute BEST!!! They can lift your spirits like nothing else. I am lucky enough to have 6 and they all live close enough to visit often. Post some pics when you can:)

Thank you everybody!!! It's such an exciting time!!! My daughter is being discharged today. Little Scotty is in NICU. They are monitoring his O2 and glucose. He has to stay a while longer. Could be a couple of days, maybe longer. It's going to hard for my daughter to leave the hospital without him. But he will be in the best of care.

Hi Celia! Thanks!! You caught me!! No oceans in southern Ohio!! Lol No real story. I am a beachbum once a year for a week on vacation. Would love to live there someday!! The reason for oceanbum instead of beachbum is because as far as user names go beachbum is always taken and oceanbum is usually available!! I've been using it for years for that reason!! Lol

Diagosed with IDC, left breast, a week ago, less than 1 cm, only picked up on MRI—this is my 1st post lumpectomy screening. Lumpectomy was 25 October for atypical hyperplasia (precancerous)—we were surprised to find IDC as this area never showed on ultrasound or mammogram.
Meet with surgeon, oncologist and radiology oncologist next week, trying to wrap my head around this and make the best decision

Pjh148: so sorry you find yourself here but being here when we have b.c. is really a blessing. Glad your lump is really tiny. Hopefully, the nature of this tumour will be easy to treat. (((HUGS))))

Pjh148, As hard as it is, it is good that you went to your follow ups and got your DX early. It will be a whirlwind for a few weeks, but hang in there. There are many here that will help you along the way. You are not alone! Best wishes moving forward.

Pjh- So sorry for the dx. I had atypia first and then IDC was found later. So glad you had the MRI. I know it is all so shocking right now. It’s not always going to be like this. Take things step by step. We’re here for you.

Welcome, pjh! We are here to help, and your fuzzy Maine coon cat companion is too (apologies if your kitty is no longer around). They are the sweetest cats who seemed to know when I was upset.
We are all happy we are Stage 1 and not something worse, though no BC at all would be better.
It can seem overwhelming at first, but once you know your plan of care options, you will feel more in control.

PPjh...Sorry you are going through this ..We all know exactly how you are feeling ..come and chat any time !! ...I was first diagnosed with DCIS ...and was also upset to discover that pathology after mascetomy found IDC as well ..which hadn't shown on mammogram or ultrasound either ..Try and live one day at a time , and be gentle on yourself ...Know that you will get through this , and back into living again .Time is a great healer ..

15,000 posts and then it just stopped!! So I'm giving it a bump to get it started again!!
How's everybody doing? Just checking in.
I had my last surgery (fat-grafting) April 20th. I finished up my 12 cycles of Herceptin May 25th. Life has returned to the new normal. I am back to work full-time. I still get very tired by the end of the day. And I found this weekend that I am not up to walking and climbing stairs at a football stadium like I used to be. By the time I got to my seat I felt like I was going to pass out!! I definitely need to do some training for next year!!

Ocean ...yeah ..it's a good thread ..it would be great to get it going again. Glad to hear your through your treatments ..and it definitely takes a while to get back to normal .. emotionally and physically ..

I just got diagnosed maybe six weeks ago now. I already had my lumpectomy, waiting to hear whether radiation or chemo is next.
I love that the 5 year survival rates are so high for stage 1. But I can't help but look at the 15 year survival rates, and they're not so high. And I can't find anything about 20+. I haven't met my medical or radiation oncologist yet. I feel like the information is very clear that radiation reduces the rate of recurrence in the same location, but it's not so obvious to me how much it actually improves mortality/extends life.
I was so freaked out at first I went along with everything the surgeon said. But now I've had time to read and think more. It's so hard to wrap my mind around.
I'm trying to work through this time to conserve my paid sick leave for chemo/radiation, but my focus has been terrible.

Salamandra, I totally relate to your thoughts about the long term survival rates. It’s one of the little voices in my head in the middle of the night.
I finished my radiation treatment a week ago. Skin’s a little itchy, but not too bad. I’m really noticing the fatigue, especially in the afternoons. I’m still try to figure out my new normal (I don’t like that phrase; none of this is normal!). It’s great to connect with you all
