So nice to see all the activity here. Welcome Dodes...as you can see, we have some light-hearted discussions about everyday life, mixed in with questions and posts about dealing with breast cancer.
Susuq sorry to hear of your complications with kidney disease and the changes on your breast. I hope you have answers.

Lucy, I hope you had a good anniversary celebration.

I also found time with my grandkids was especially rewarding during my recovery from my BC diagnosis.

    Wishing everyone a good week,

    Joan811

    Hi all,

I will be done with my arimidex/anastrazole therapy in 6 days. I'm looking forward to it because I'm hoping it will get rid of the SE's like aches and pains, I feel so old sometimes, my hands, my shouders and neck hurts so much especially when the weather gets cold. ( I work as a cake decorator , that's why the parts of my body mentioned are the ones that aches a lot. I do excercise for bone health, I do weights and walking and cardio, I also take vit. D and calcium and multi vits. I have trouble losing weight though, My onco said that losing weight is hard when taking the AI's. On my last dexa scan in July 2017 showed that I have Osteopenia, ( a mild boneloss just a little bit higher than normal is what my onco said) , My onco. asked me if I want to continue taking the anastrazole for another 5 years since I have only have mild SE's , I told her No, because I read about the article that it may not be beneficial to me anyway, My BC is stage 1, low recurrence rate, negative nodes., and I'm post menopausal (surgical/hysterectomy) She readiy said, "That's ok, there's not much benefit to you huh, and there's really no proof if it does help.". I do not want to make my bone loss to get worst or my cholesterol to go up or have my kidneys and liver fails,if I continue on taking the AI, but at the same time gave me something to think about.

Anyone continuing their AI therapy beyond 5 years?

    Hola friends!

Just felt the need to check in. I had my six year checkup with my oncologist yesterday. She has moved to the north of the city, but it was well worth the 45 min trip. I feel like she is family.

I was really sweating it, mostly because I've gained weight his year. Thank goodness there was no mention of it. She was fine with me deciding to stop hormonal therapy, though she would prefer ten year. She said I really didn't need a yearly MRI if I didn't want it, and she saw no big reason to visit the gyn after my total hysterectomy last year. It was wierd stepping into the clinic, since it's been a year.

It feels great to know I have an excellent doctor in my corner if something comes up.

I hope you are all well. Stop by and update us!

    Big hugs all around!

Figured I would update also. So far all of my mammo and ultrasounds have been good. On last visit, oncologist noted that every lab Iโ€™ve had for the last year has shown my liver enzymes going higher and higher, so one mri and ultrasound later, I have a fatty liver probably caused by the tamoxifen. I have only taken it for a little less than 2 years with 8 more to go. Otherwise, Iโ€™m finally learning to stress less and live life more

Farmerlucy ..congrats on your 6 years ..I also had a hysterectomy last year ...so no more gyn visits for me either !!! :-)

Lovinggrouches ...the last time I had my bloods tested my ALT and AST were slightly elevated too .. .and they never have been before ....maybe it's the tamoxifen causing it for me as well :-(

    Hugs

My 6 month follow up, last week, shows my tumor marker slightly increasing...eh. Slightly over "normal". Another lab in a couple of months. I hope it's just a fluke. I know it is not always reliable, but that worry is there. Otherwise, feeling well!:). I'm glad my MO is staying on top of things anyway. I quit my Tam after 2.7 yrs.

    Congrats to you all!

Keepthefaith ..my doctor checks the CA15 3 tumor marker ..and I wish he wouldn't...From what I read most doctors don't , because they are unreliable and cause lots of unnecessary stress ....and I can't handle any more stress !!!!!!

    Hi Everyone,

I am new here. Diagnosed last week. They didn't stage it but I believe it is stage I. I can't even quite bring myself to type it all out, still kind of in shock. Left Breast Calcifications, DCIS with an 1mm area of micro invasive. Worried that I'm ER- PR- and HRET2 positive. Still getting treatment plan in place. Met with surgeon yesterday, have meeting next week with radiation oncologist and thinking partial MX with node check.

I've been reading a lot of posts on this site since a few days after I was told I needed biopsy. The thing that seems to stand out to me is that I don't feel like I'm seeing many people post who chose not to have MX. Even lots and lots of stage 0 people chose to do that. It scares me to think my getting a lumpectomy or partial MX could be a big mistake. Surgeon has said she thinks I would be fine going either route. She has a great reputation and works at a well-regarded breast center in major metropolitan area. I liked her very much; she was so respectful and forth coming and I have no reason to doubt her, but I'm just so scared.

Thank you for anyone who cares to respond.

Hello! I'm a Stage 1 Sister. Today is the one year anniversary of my first diagnosis. I was diagnosed in my right breast on March 6, 2017 with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 1/3 +/+/- with pre-cancerous calcifications that were Focal Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia. On March 21, 2017 I was diagnosed in my left breast with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Grade 3/3 +/+/+ with a group of pre-cancerous nodules that were Ductal Carcinoma In Situ. I did chemo first with Taxotere, Carboplatin, Perjeta & Herceptin. I had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction in Sept, 2017. I had my exchange surgery in Dec, 2017. I started maintenance Herceptin treatments in Sept and I have one treatment left!! I also started Tamoxifen in Sept.
