Warrior, I grew up in San Jose. You'll appreciate this, my third grade teacher was married to a 49er, a defensive lineman. He was huge. We thought he was a giant when h'd visit the school. He got injured and I sent him a get well drawing. He sent me an autographed picture that hung on my bedroom wall for years! The Niners will always hold a special place in my heart. I have a Niners shirt but have to secretly wear it up here in SEATTLE! However, I will be wearing my Hawks shirt Sunday....I remember when I had two more infusions to go. You are almost there!

Haha to all you SF fans...lots of luck beating Seattle. I predicted Seattle and Denver in the SB so still got a shot. I was a 49ers fan way back when Joe Montana was there but not really since. Don't like Pete Carroll but cant argue with his success at Seattle. I heard they have the loudest stadium in the country - like earthquake status...wow! Also on GMA they reported no ticket orders will be taken for other than Seattle fans and you have to live in the area? Seriously...not fair because they have fans in other states. Should be a good game and ditto with Denver vs NE...pulling for Peyton Manning. Cant stand the Patriots. My son, friend and sister are die hard Dallas fans so as usual they will be watching the game from their couch. Unless and until Jerry Jones lets his coach do his job they will be bridesmaids at best and having Tony Romo as qb - never make it to the SB with him...diane

I had numbness for about a year, gradually improving during that time.  The only thing that remains numb is the underarm itself which I only notice while shaving, but during that year the bicep and complete back of my arm was numb or pins/needles.

OMG 49ers love on BCO!  Love it!  Jeannie57, do you remember your teacher's husband's name?  You know it was a while ago because she was still working while he played football (don't feel bad, I'm not the youngest crayon in the box either.)  Happy to see you've got 49er love even though you live in WA.  I went to college in WA (Whitman College) back when the 'Hawks were an AFC team and used to hope my 49ers would play them in the Super Bowl, and yeah, Edwards750, he has done a lot for the 'Hawks though there's only room in my hear for one loud, inspirational coach (Harbaugh!) And for the tickets...for once I am rooting for all the rich f**ks in the Bay Area who can afford to buy zillion dollar tickets on the secondary market and who will SHOW UP AND REPRESENT!!!!!  As for me, I will be sending good vibes from my couch at home, where I can see everything and it doesn't cost me a dime.

Now, onto BC...yeah, that!...#10 Taxol today and rads consult in half an hour.  Moving right along.  Oh, and if any of you want to join me on FB, PM me and I'll add you to my list...I have weekly 'fuzz updates' there...chemo hair porn.  Irresistable, I know. ;)

Keep on keeping on, all my love,

    Michelle (Warrior70)

warrior70, my teacher's husband's name was Charlie Krueger. It was a l-o-n-g time ago! You like Harbaugh? He looks like he could shatter into a million pieces from the stress. Hawks have a great record here at home so we'll see. Niners offense is good. You sound like you have a good attitude about your treatment! One step at a time and you'll be done before you know it!

warrior - more 49er love here - I am a native Californian, lived there for the first 27 years of my life, and my dad is a Cal alumni, so the Bay Area is familiar turf!  I grew up in L.A., went to college in San Luis Obispo, kept moving north to Sacramento. I met my husband there, and then the Air Force moved us all around, including a brief return to California for two years.  I was able to see the San Fran/Buc's game this season here in Tampa.

Jeannie57, thanks!  I will Google him.  So cool!

And SpecialK, you lived in Sac?  My best friend from college lives there...she has a gorgeous house in the Fabulous 40s.  Nice place!  You went to Cal Poly?  I'd love it if one of my daughters went there.

So cool we're all here, even if the reason that brought us here is lousy!

Warrior, having a coffee at Starbucks, wearing my Seahawks clothing.....I had my three month appt. with my MO this week. I was worried because I thought I found two swollen nodes in my clavicle area and near my groin. I was assured they weren't even nodes. Phew. I was so happy and relieved. I hadn't felt that kind of joy in awhile. Of course now I'm wondering, can I trust them??? Have a great weekend!

    Furfriend, Congratulations!!

An update about me and my SE: I had my last chemo #4 on Dec 4 and I just passed week 6 post chemo. I started working on week 4 and started Tamoxifen on 12/25. Very tired, is this a SE and what can I do about it?

I feel tired, mainly from work driving to meetings back and forth and catching up after four months of being on medical leave. Lots to do and somewhat stressed for being so behind.

My hair: they are growing but I don't see a full coverage yet, they strted to grow a week or so ago but again, thin and not the full head. They must be now a quarter of an inch long. I am wearing the cutest wigs and they look so real and always perfect I love them. They are synthetic.

My nails: they were dark after chemo 2, like a black shade. I had them cut very small. Now I am leaving them longer and with dark nail polish. A friend who owns a spa gave me organic nail polish and I am using that. They are growing long and healthy! Still not going for manis or pedis. I just got too scared of getting germs from places and my DH actually got Mrsa from one pedi place! That hapenned two years ago, but after that and now my BC I am doing them myself, at least for now until my strength come back. As I said, I still feel tired.

My weight: I gained 30 lbs total, between getting the bad news of BC (10lbs), BMX (5-10lbs) and TC (10-15lbs). During the BMX I gained lbs mainly because I wasn't moving, the pain is indescriptible, you ladies know what I mean. Fluid retention is also an issue with the chemo and steroids. During TC I was earing mashed potatoes for breakfast, lots of carbs (noodles, potatoes, bread) that helped with the stomach cramps. I took Nexium and still do, but because of the past ulcers my stomach suffered. Now I am on a diet, only vegetables and fruits with small portions of meats. Nothing fried, no carbs, no sugars. I have lost 7lbs without starving myself. I am still swollen but that might take more weeks? Who knows...

My skin: I had dry skin during chemo and for that I used Neutrogena sesame oil after my showers on damp skin. It worked very good plus the smell is very nice. On my face I was washing it and right after I used any face cream I had, still do the same. I still have to ask my MO about Botox but I will see him in two months so I don't have nothing to report on that topic. Oh! I shaved my legs for the first time! Those little suckers grow faster in my legs than in my head! I am using an electric shaver and won't use a razor anymore. I read somewhere that shaving the armpits and using deodorant right after is not good. I am using a deodorant I found that doesn't have aluminum chlorohydrate. The brand is Crystal Essence and has a pink ribbon on the cap.

Look Good Feel Better: I went there this past Tuesday and the ladies were great. Lots of freebies and some good make up and tips. I still have my lashes, but they are thinning out. Same with my eyebrows. I am not sure if i will lose them all at week 8 like somebody mentioned, but at least I know now how to do them in case I lose them.

TE: I have my exchange scheduled for January 31st and I am thrilled about that. It is so uncomfortable to sleep with the TE and can't sleep on my side, the muscles hurt. Some people say with the implants I will be able to move freely!

Well, that is all for now. I will keep reading all your posts and keep us up to date aith your progress!

Headeast, thanks for the full update.  LOL at the leg hair!  I'm still doing Taxol and I've had to shave my legs/ armpits twice now!  Congrats on TE; no rads for you?

headeast, so good to hear from you, wow. 6 weeks post chemo already, it must feel weird in a way to be done with  that aghhhhhhhh chemo and trying to pick up your life again. Well, i was told it takes weeks to revover fully so pace yourself, chemo strong stuff.

I'm lucky i retired 5 years ago at 55 yrs old. I worked as a procurement specialist fir a large aircraft company, pratt and whitney canada, part of utc corp. was there for 34 years. My hubby still there as an engineer. Hes younger than me. Lol.

Anyway going thru this bc i was glad to be home. However, i have 5 more taxols to go the. Finito! Well, surgery and rads. I have a ways to go.

I still am tired on taxol, i am excercising, and yes eating more, when my taste is good actually had a vanilla latte the other day it was soooooooooooo good.

Are we allowed to have botox, juvederm or even a tattoo? Yep thinking of getting one once this over lol

    Have a good sunday miami!

Oh warrior70 and Mercedes, no rads for me, they removed it all, nothing to radiate!

I am 45 and wish I would be retired to go boating all day long! I wish I would have known that my energy is not there and to pace myself. I was coming from work this past week and getting straight to bed. So tired it was not funny! I am not walking because I am tired. I really want to have my energy back. I need it to be me again!

Mercedes, I didn't know you were doing neo adjuvant therapy. I had a BMX and ALND and that saved me from rads and the fear of other breast having cancer some day.

About tattoos:  I never understood why people would hurt themselves and add ink in their bodies, now I do. Still I don't think I will get one, too painful. I chicken out every time I went for Botox!

headeast wish i was in florida now, we are going thru another deep freeze here minus 18ughhhhhhhh.

Taxol#8 tommorrow . So far side effects not so bad, except for my legs being weak, especially by the end of the day and if course my appetite is picking up which is good i guess.

I didn't lose too much weight during chemo. I am 5'6" tall and weigh 130lbs. So i can afgird to gain a little more.

I have my appointment on mar. 11th with my surgeon to discuss surgery, im getting a little nervous about this.

I have  about 5 weeks revovery before surgery so from ladt chemo feb.19 to probs end of march mo treatments, hey maybe i can swing a trip to florida. Lol.

Cheryl, a trip to Florida is a must, especially with the weather you are suffering up there! Today was 68.

I am so looking forward to the exchange. It is very hard to sleep with these bricks on my chest and they hurt.

Yes, you can afford gaining weight. I am 5'7" and was 140, now 163 and working on my diet to lose what I gained since my dx.

Hey mercedes, congrats on Taxol #8 tomorrow!  Taxol #11 for me (hopefully; haven't gotten my lab yet, but feeling good, and hoping...)

If you're worried about surgery...I would rather do 5 surgeries than 1 chemo protocol.  I think you are doing the hard part first!

Well, it's been about a week since 'the game' and I'm (mostly) over my disappointment...helped along by the fact that CHEMO ENDS FOR ME ON THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, Taxol #12...5 days from today!

I think that I finally have a LITTLE tingling in my finger tips, but it is very subtle and intermittent.  My scalp is almost entirely covered with fuzz...dead rodent colored, but hey, it's hair!...and I have little hairs in my brows and lashes.  Woot woot!

So glad to be reaching the end of this stage of the journey!  Plan to stay here to encourage everyone on the path!

    Keep on trucking'!

Warrior, congrats on one more chemo! I remember how good it felt to be done. Then I got pneumonia, haha! Not looking back. The Niners played their hearts out and had some bad injuries and calls. I will be rooting for the Hawks.

I hate to tell all you freezing ladies this, but I spent a few sunny hours today floating down a river, watching bald eagles. It was glorious. We did have our warmest layers on, though. My daughter is inAnn Arbor, MI. Brrrrrrr.

    Me again

    Headeast n Gals,

just read you post as well & my nailbeds turned dark 3 weeks ago. Guess from Taxol# 3 &4 .   I do have numbness in my fingertips and my toes.  The super cold weather has been a bear as I have to scrape off my car from ice/snow.  Walking to and from buildings has left me short of breath at times..  This has been going on for 3-4 weeks now.  My appetite is much better. Love you BCO gang XOXO
