Oh I hear ya Proud! We all do what we can.
Higher prices & less greenbacks is doing it for me! Lost 3 pounds this week. I hope it stays off. I got 25 to go!0 -
Jutz--good for you! 3 down is good. Yeah, higher prices, less disposible money as more goes to the dumb meds! Been at the pharmacy this week 3 times....today was cheap as I am really good at finding the discounts on stuff. Got my BP stuff for $4 a month instead of $50 per month!

Yeah! Good for you! My Nexium cost me $40 a month. I have tried other types of acid blockers but cant do without the nexium. LBetween DH, myself, & 2 youngest sons still at home we have 12 prescrips a month! One son has crohns & must have a probiotic that's not covered under insurance that's about 20 a month. I'm glad I have insurance as our meds out of pocket would cost a couple of Grand a month.

wow, you have more than me! I think I have 6 scripts ongoing. Part of the reason I am looking forward to when my onco says my 5 years on aromasin is up! got another year to go, others not much chance of getting off although I do take vesicare for over active bladder and working on my kegels and hope hope to get off it!

Yeah well I don't take anything for the BC because I'm triple neg except the D. DH takes 5 for his car accident 12 years ago. I take 3 for BP, cholesterol, & acid reflux. Plus 4 over the counter vitamin stuff for heart health & such. Then youngest takes 13 pills a day for Crohn's, it used to be 20. The next one up takes 2 for ADHD. We won't even talk about the other 2 out on there own....Crohn's, IBS, ADD! A big mess dealing one day at a time!
Lets here it for Kegels! At least you can do that exercise where ever & nobody knows! It just never ends....I hope you can get off that & chanting go one year....go one year, go, go, go! Then good bye "A"!

Thanks Jutz, and you are right, I do the kegels will driving the NJ Turnpike! The seem to be working for me. But you seem to have lots more than me. I confess I really know nothing about Crohns
hope it stays under control for your fam

I'm glad they are working for you. Not fun all that encompasses!
As for Crohns my oldest was DX at 19 after having emergency surgery for abscesses in his abdomin & a bowel resection! Pain, fevers, major tummy issues, stunted growth. My youngest at age 11 was DX & missed 30 days of school because of it. Although rare it can kill. A 2 year old died due to complications! I am thankful that my boys are fairly controlled with the meds but they still have tummy/abdominal issues weekly sometimes daily. Anyway it's a chronic illness some do well others not so much. That's the easy explanation. I still know it all could be much worse & that's what keeps me going. It's not been easy but I keep going.
Oops I went way off course again! Sorry all!0 -
Julz u really have u'r hands full. Crohns can be really painful. U'r poor kids. It's all worry for u too.
I'm glad of the ins. I have, but it still costs $$$..I'm on 15 different meds a day so it still adds up, but without Ins. I'd be taking nothing LOL

I remember what it was like for my family when Dad was sick and we had no insurance. When he got sick we were going through bankruptcy. He was unable to work for 4 years. By the time he was able to go back to work we had piled up well over $50,000 in medical bills. He went back to work in the spring of 1956 so that was really a lot of money. I know it took them over 10 years to pay it off and Dad was able to get a very good job with the Federal Dept of Agriculture. He was in charge of one of the major farm assistance programs for the State of WA and considered one of the country's top experts on the program within four years of going to work there, made good money and we continued to live frugally even if we did have better diets. I put myself through college, even managed to loan Dad $300 to buy a car for work. At that time they were still paying off those bills. Since college I have always had medical coverage. Shortly before I found the BC I figured out approximately how much I had paid in and what employers had paid on my behalf for coverage. Then I totaled my medical expenses since retirement---almost double my insurance cost! Money well spent.

Hello to all, new here
Well since I have been diagnosed August 2012 the most dumbest and hurtful thing that ever has been said to me is that GOD must be punishing you !! That really hurt me but I will not hold it against my mom . I am now understanding that a lot of people have no idea how this disease can tear the very fiber of your existence to shreds . When the doctors asked me how are you coping with this , I took it as to mean why are you not falling apart . Reading your posts gives me so much courage and hope.

Fighter69......what's with mothers?????. My mother, God rest her soul, when I phoned and told her she had a grandson (she knew I was praying for a girl) said the same thing....."it was my punishment for praying too hard for a girl"!!!!!!!!!,

Unfortunately, sometimes the ones we love say the worst things and have the bigest capacity to hurt us.

Hello to all - sorry I deserted everyone for awhile. I really have missed talking with you. My computer was down and I just did not have the motivation or energy to run the self-repair program. I finally sat down for three hours yesterday and fixed it! I have also been so busy with med appt's. I had another lung biopsy - this time in VT. It went well. (the physician's assistant I was assigned to for the day was SO nice - and handsome - "Tony" was his name). The RO was also great. They were not able to get a core bx., but did get enough tissue to deem my lung tumors as triple neg breast cancer - oh well, that's what my MO and I had already expected.
My MO did not want to wait to start chemo., so I started Fri. Will have a port put in, again, Nov. 2nd., as I will be doing my new "cocktail" for at least 6 months and prob. longer if it works. I'm doing Carboplastin and Gemzar - Infusions two weeks in a row, then one wk. off. Gemzar sounds like a newly discovered planet - where in the world do they come up with the names for chemo? I'm tolerating it well, so far. The dexy, of course, is driving me nuts. I took Decadron orally last time, but this time I have to have it IV as one of my meds sometimes has delayed nausea - often a week later, so the I.V. dexy is longer lasting (plus I can't skip it as I did sometimes when I used to take it at home). I have been cleaning my house like a maniac - I finally took some Benadryl so I could sleep.
I will be reading through recent posts to catch up this weekend - really missed you guys! I knew you were with me, even though we weren't writing. My thoughts and best wishes are always with you.

Forgot to mention a comment my Onc PNP made - I won't call it "dumb", as she is great - she was just very nervous about talking to me about my recent dx. - you know how the med profs have that look when they know that you know things are not going well....After she gave me the new med info., she said, "This should work well as bc responds well to chemo" - Her face turned red and she looked down at her papers - I did not say a word - I know she knew her statement was not fitting for my situation as my bc obviously has not responded well to chemo! Oh well - I know she was trying to give me hope.
Here's a dumb one you will all most likely understand - I am actually the one who thought of it - have not said it to anyone until now - At least with mets to the lungs and ribs, I have not had to flash my breasts to anyone who comes into the exam room. Everyone is more interested in my back now - its' kind of a nice change in a wierd way! lol

Welcome back Sherry! Sorry to hear about the confirmation of your lung mets pathology...that SUX (Ooops! different thread!) I've heard GREAT things about Gemzar, that new planet that you are going to be visiting for a while...hehehehhehehe.

(((((((((SHERRY)))))))))))) Cyber Squeeze....gently so! You have been in my thoughts much lately! Wondering how everything is going....Thanks for reading my mind & answering me without me asking! I'm glad you finally got someone that knew what the "BLEEP" they are supposed to be doing! WOW what a MOMENT with the PNP onc! on her part for sure! Sometimes us health profs open mouth & incert foot for sure! I think they need to have Bedside Manners for beginners 101 in med school! Ahhh yes the dreaded BOOB show to anyone & everyone! Now they want to see the "MOONS" higher faze! At least now they can't tell if your cold! hehehehe! Unless they need to see BOTH sides of the MOONs higher faze!!!! Hahahaha! Glad your back with us......no pressure it's a good place to come & go as you want!

CAM.....Darn your too funny!!!! Hahahaha.....I guess Sherry does have to make sure it's clean or they could tell if she's been rolling around in the HAY!!!

The dumbest thing was when I told my friend for the first time, it was less than a week after my first surgery and I had bruised very bad from it. So I had already told one friend; so we went out for a tea and I told her we got the results back and its cancer she said "oh how do you know that, cause you brusied" what does that even mean?! Another one that I found very hurtful, once everything was over "oh, well you are healthy now, it doesnt affect you at all, just get over it, your fine" yes Im healthy, but I still have the scar to remind me everyday what happened, I still have all the worries that come with cancer. Goodness, people!

Annie I still et amazed at how some people react so insensitively especially to their friends. U need full support and can feel anyway u want. Especially with all the info out there--as little as I know I know enough not to be a stupid a$$. Well I can be a stupid a$$, but not about this or any illness.
