Oh and Stormy u'r right it steals so uch even thos things come back it takes a while where u feel like it's back.
Now here's an example of DIGNITY: I proably told u I had a bone scan on Monday the Onc. didn't like something in me or whatever---but when the tech came out to get me he called my name and when I stood up I got instant explosive diarrhea--he introduced himself and I said I'm shitting in my pants and he said Oh don't be nerveous and I said no, I'm not nerveous I'm really shitting in my pant. I nedd a bathroom.--I always have to bring more clothes with me everywhere so I clean up and changed (yes I do wear depends) and went to the nurae to port accsess and when that was done stood up and all over again--changed then waited my 2 hrs. for my test.... The point of this little story is I was in the waiting room and I wasn't even embarrassed and it was running down---I will never hace dignity again cuz this has been going on for years.LOL

Camillegal~it almost ran down my leg, laughing at your apparent calmness over the situation!
God Bless you Girl!!!0 -
Oh Cami....Super Big Hug!!!! 2 of my sons have Crohns ages 25 & 13 now. They have had Crohns for years. This has happened a few times to them! YOU DO have dignity in spades Girl!!!! Is this because of a reaction from Chemos? Or that you have a secondary disease like ulcerative colitis or crohns? My oldest sons wife just had her colon out a month after their 2 end son was born. She has UC. You deserve another HUG!!!!

Hi Julz both of u's sons. Oh Lord how awful.
Mine started when I had my first chemo and ever since--i have test galore after chemo by all different Drs. and Now I have to go thru the tests again No one know why. LOL I'm so used to it--that's why I have no shame or I'd never leave the house hahaha
Oh now u'r DIL has this horrid thing OMG and they have 2 babies--I'm so sorry for u'r family. Julz

I had my excisional biopsy last week and I went in yesterday for my post-op visit/path report and I have been told that I have DCIS with micro-invasion. I took a friend with me for another set of ears (my mistake!). I stayed and visited with her for awhile yesterday before coming home and as soon as her boyfriend got home she cracked open a beer, so that was my cue to leave. She calls me up last night and tells me she got me onto military insurance as she knows the commander of the american legion, WTF?? I was not in the military the required 180 days to qualify for any type of benefits and I know this from talking to the VA. She then proceeded to tell me that she did this so that I can sell Avon under her to cancer patients!! OMG, for one thing it was not her business to tell anyone my diagnosis and I am not going to sell anything to a cancer patient!! That is just mean and I was so upset and all I can do is sit here and cry. I am just having a super bad day!!!! I want someone to twinkle their nose and make me well.
0 -
Im twinkling my nose so that you get some new friends..........
sorry - that was too much - when i think i have heard it all.......someone blows me away........
0 -
I know many of you have heard this before, but I got the, "You look great...considering you had cancer." WTH. I guess for a "normal" person I look like crap.

Sorry internet went poof for almost 2 days!
Cami my oldest son was DX with emergency surgery his 2end year of college. Then the next son down had emergency surgery his second year in college but no Crohn's just severe irritable bowel syndrome. Then 4 years ago my Son & his wife had the first Grandson & she was DX with severe ulcerative colitis a month after he was born. Then my youngest son was DX with Crohns easily because of his brothers DX's. So this year my DIL gives birth to our 2end Grandson 12 weeks premature because of his Mother's UC. He has CDH....congenital diaphragmatic hernia which has a 50% survival rate in full term but less than 1% for my Grandson because he was a preemie. A month after he was born she had her colectomy. 4 days before Mother's Day our little miracle Zachary went home. He is now almost 10 months old & believed to be the only CDH preemie born at Hershey to survive! It was a few weeks after he was born that I found my BC. It's been a HE double toothpick ride this year but I have many things to be thankful for! I belong to a Crohn's info board like BCO & a few mothers have horrible sick kids that are in the hospital for weeks & months on end. One toddler even died of it. I also know of a teen in my local area that died a few short years ago because of her Crohn's. Although my boys & DIL have been through some ruff stuff I know it could be far worse! Cami it doesn't matter who or why it still is not fun at all! Sometimes we have to roll with the punches even when they hurt so bad & try to find something what ever it may be to hold onto to get through!!!!

Barbe you make me !!! Gentle squeezes back at you I hope they get that "D"_"M" pain under control!!!!
((((Day)))) I'm glad he "EX"ited with the rest of it!!!! Makes me so mad when I hear about spouses being so horrible when your so sick....it doesn't matter how sick....they just forgot about the in sickness & health right after they said I DO!!! I hope those problems are better for you now?!!!
Welcome Blackcat!!! We learn who our friends are through this journey that no one wants to take! The friends that are there for us no matter what! Not this kind of friend! I am truly sorry you had to go through this just after getting the words no one ever wants to hear from their Dr. Let the tears flow! They will help to heal your heart. Yes it will take time but I hope that soon someone unexpected will step up to the plate & be that FRIEND that SHE should of been! Twinkling my nose every which way I can....with a special hug too!
Welcome Loriio! Yes we have & I bet if we took a poll it would probably be the top thing said most! It still makes us BC girls wonder ALL kinds of things! Still it is never easy to hear because of ALL the kinds of things we think after hearing it!

Oh Julz, it's worse when things happens to u'r kids. All the pain and worry to deal with. And then u too. But bless u'r baby what a tory too.
Julz I have no pain whatsoever (tG) just extreme D in bouts--some often, some I can go 10 and nothing, I've had so many test for it and nothin shows. Personally I think it's SE till now from Aromasin but a they keep on reminding me I'm no Dr.--wel they are and no one knows LOL at least my theory has some back-up. Now I ave it again today--so I've been medding me up-hahaha--The thing too is cuz I have no pain I have no warning that's why it just explodes out in the oddest places. And I don't even feel like I have to go--it just comes out. So no one yet has found the problem, they're treating the symptems, OOHH I'm really rambling here all off topic. hahaha Sorry
BTW no one has said anything stupid o me lately---not for a long time if they know me at all--I;m the one that talks stupid to others.

I'm having my exchange surgery on Tuesday. I just made the comment to my husband that I'll be so happy to have the tissue expanders gone. He then asked, "What are tissue expanders?" ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME? I've had them since June, and my dear hubby didn't know what expanders are. Ugh! He obviously pays no attention to anything I've said the past few months.
Lori0 -
Good luck tomorrow and isn't that just like a man, they just seem to tune us all out.....

Lori: That sounds just like what a friend said to me. It went like this every time I saw her ..."gosh you look great".. and in public, which didn't sit right with me. So finally I just said "how the hell am I supposed to look?"
And I'm getting tired of nurses or P.A.'s asking if my blood pressure has always been high. I said no it's normal at home, but when I go see a doctor, it goes up. Think they will EVER stop asking -- probably not. Let's see, you walk a mile to the little exam room and sit in a chair, then they quickly strap on the BP cuff. Why does it not dawn on them that of course, the count will be higher?? Duh.

Shelly- when I was admitted to the hospital for my surgery last year the nurse took my BP then said "your BP is 156 over 90, is is usually this high?" Me: "um,no" Nurse: "do you have any idea why it's so high today?" Me: "well, I'm having a double mastectomy in about an hour" Nurse: "oh, never mind"
0 -
oh dear, my BP Is over the top hi whenever I enter the "cancer center" and at times they look so shocked like I am the first one to show up with a BP that is so high
I have asked the nurses to tell me a dumb joke, you know the type the average 7 year old tells? It usually gets my BP down.....and if they do not know one...I have one for you to use.....
so a story about the 7 year old in my life, he has ADD supposedly, gets lots of Ds in school but he has created a web site~~~with his own cartoon character....it is a combination of pokie mon on the bottom and Saddem Huissen on the top.
And it has more "hits" than he has friends
dumb huh?

Mom of 3 & Proud : Love your stories. I just cannot understand why they are not taught in nursing school to not rely on BP's on patients just walking a mile before sitting down, and the stress we are under every time we see the doctors !! Another thing I have a tiny issue with is "how" they do BP's. From what I read, they are to put your arm elevated at level height with your heart. The ones I've had never, ever, do that.
Proud-- my son was diagnosed "ADD" several years ago, yet his IQ was in the "gifted" range. He struggled in elementary school, but got straight A's in high school. I think there are lots of people like him, that just needed school to be interesting and fun, but when they're little, they are mostly bored so he would daydream a lot. Is there a program for him during school to expand on his abilities outside of the normal subjects?
0 -
Shelly, no idea how they diagnos the ADD. Torrey flunked out of several schools including community colleges. Spent lots of dads money. Then started messing around on the internet and sort of playing at investing (no real money but researching) Next thing I heard is he had convinced dad to bankroll him for stock trading and he ....well is making money!
ADD? makes no sense but he seems to have found a spot for imself!

Love this topic, your stories and come backs. Sophiafred -- zing! So here is my rant waaah waah waah...
My DH drives me to hospital to for me to undergo 2 hour operation to get revisions on BMX. As he is backing his beloved car into a tight spot in the hospital's underground parking lot, I try to help by telling him there is plenty of room on the passenger side. I hear, "CRUNCHHHHH!" I look over and his driver sideview mirror is getting crunched by a pole. He yells at me, "F%#%!, you were distracting me!" Then I hear, "SMASHHHH!" as I get a slight whiplash when the back of our car hits the back wall. WTF?! So his whole demeanor is that it is my fault that he damaged his precious car. He somehow blames me for hurting the body of his car while I am about to go and get my body cut into and there is just no attention or discussion or tending to me at all in that area!
I feel I shouldn't complain because he has been a solid help in many ways and has stuck by me. But this just took the prize at the fair for me.

ADD is attention deficit disorder, it means that they have a hard time staying focused on one thing. This is very different than ADHD which is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder! I hate the term disorder, because it makes people sound like something in them is completely wrong. But ADD is diagnosed through a battery of questions/answers, my son had a brain scan, a psychological exam, etc. Typical signs of ADD are: inability to follow many directions, disorganization, lack of attention(obviously), easily distracted, failure to complete a task. It has absolutely nothing to do with intelligence AT ALL!!! My son who is very bright, was highly disorganized. In elementary we could control this, one class, colored folders, etc. In junior high, all hell broke loose. He had a locker, and things just landed there!! He would go to school, go to his locker throw things in there, haphazardly, and then go to class, not grab what books and folders he needed, didn't take homework with him, etc. It was horrible. He knew the topic,, could do the work if he brought it home, but forgot to turn it in, because that was not what he was focused on. A typical moment in our life was like this: Me, Jason will you get out a can of red beans so I can make the chili, its in the cupboard, by the fridge, third shelf down, in the back. Jason would walk to the cupboard, open it up, and say "what am i looking for?". So I broke it down: Third shelf down, (he'd pull out that shelf/draw), toward the back(he'd look to the back), "it's a can that says red beans or maybe kidney beans(he'd lift the cans till he found it). Too many directions confused him and he couldn't remember what he was doing. This is what it is like for a child or adult with ADD. In a classroom of 5 of these students it's a whole lot of fun, each of them learn in their own way and have managed to survive. I just repeat the directions several times until they do what they need to do.

Kerrber--no offense meant to your son, in reality I can not tell you the exact diagnosis of my nephew. His mom is very sensitive about such things and really hits the roof to think that her sons may not be perfect?
Me, I think my nephew is charming and clearly smart but used to think he would end up as either a sales guy like his dad or a comedian or a cartonist! Stock trader never crosed my mind!

My DH is like that and I`ve blamed his brain tumours as he wasn`t like that when I first met him. Sometimes I`m nasty and give him a direction and when he starts to do it I add another thought. That makes him stop dead! hehehhehehehe. My bad???? My husband is brilliant and has an incredible memory for facts. He`s the kind of guy who knows something about EVERYTHING!! I love talking to him! He`s the first man that could meet me intellectually. He is not stupid at all.
