    Yuck, I'm so sick of Vitamin D levels. My last one was 29, but I freely admit I wasn't taking it every day. The onc. gave me a script for the 50,000 ius a week, but I'm going to shred it. I've been through this with him, and he doesn't listen. It's D2, which doesn't seem to do much of anything for my levels. I'll just be more conscientious about taking my 2,000 ius/day of D3 and I'll bet anything my level will be in the 50-60 range. My onc. will pat himself on the back, no doubt, and I'll bite my tongue.

    Mccrimmon-I kept my port for 4 months.  When it was time to do exchange surgery, the PS needed to fix a divot that was on the same side as the port.  So it was removed at the same time I had the exchange surgery.  Onc was OK with it.

    Hugs to you Kelley41.  Please ley us know how things go for you.

    Hello to everyone!  Have a good weekend, all

    Kelly - maybe it's a cyst.  I had one under my armpit on the cancer side for a while and it all swelled up and turned into a boil a year ago today on Remembrance Day. Anyway, I was put on antibiotics and it eventually went down.  Maybe your's is something like this. Hugs.

    Suze: GO TIG GO!!

    Kathrynn: too funny...now I'm picturing tigger jumping up and down on Suze!

    question: Anyone take Marinol while on chemo? I had my 3rd round TAC Monday and it has been a nightmare...the bone pain has been rediculous, my stomach feels full of mud, my eye sight is blurry, I have a stuffy head and have been using hydrocodone to knock myself out and to get rid of the pain for just a little while. My onc suggested Marinol and I was going to do it and then the nurse practitioner wanted me to try kytril instead. It seems to be helping some with the nausea, although my stomach still feels grose ( ugghh...I can't thing either to spell) I'm thinking there has to be something better but hate to keep spending money on meds that won't help. Just wanted to know if anyone used Marinol, if it helped and if you had any negative side effects.

    thanks

    Yeah Mitty..those alcohol studies are based on er pr positive BC's...not Tn's...not saying you should go out and binge..but hell..they don't know what causes TN cancers..but haven't heard anywhere that it is alcohol...

    Lee Ann..I have never heard of Marinol...I took 1 pill of..something (I can't remember) the morning of of chemo then 1 more pill the day after and another the day after that...they also gave me something else to take if I felt any nausea (I can't spell either)..at all....being constipated just sucks...how about eating a couple of apples?

    Sorry you are going through this Kelley..but your dr's don't seem to be concerned...you will probably want it OUT though...

    Suze, Girl, if I could come and kick that f....kng Cancer out, I would do it, anything in the world.  We don't want our Suze to be in pain and it makes me SO MAD, I swear that this shit has come into our lives.  Go Tig Go, kick the shit out .... sorry about my language.

    riley - my Vit D level is rising slowly but surely.  I take 2 - 2000 iu D3 every night.  Yesterday's blood test shows 36.  Previously it was 30 (4 months back).  At diagnosis, I think mine was 22.  The brand I take is from Walmart, Spring Valley, 4000 iu daily.

    Kymn... You look simply adorable!  LOVE the hair!  Sorry about the X situation... I lurke but I've read what's been going on.  Hopefully things will straighten out soon for you on that front.  Been through a divorce myself and I know how ugly things can become.

    No news to report here... feeling great... hair super curly.. had my first trim a week ago.  One of these days I'll update my photo.

    If I don't check in before Thanksgiving... I hope everyone has a safe, happy one with lots of goodies to eat and hope those still going through chemo feel well enough to enjoy it.  One of these days someone is going to post that they've found the cure.  It will happen... keep the faith!

    Ladies I need some advice from anyone who had a lumpectomy ( had mine Tuesday)

    This morning I was putting on my makeup and kept hearing this gurgling noise. It took me a few minutes to figure out it was my boob! I know you can have some serous drainage in your wound, but my boob is sloshing like an old fashioned water bed every time I move, lol. I kid you not, you can hear it "slosh" every time I move. Anybody else have this problem (checked the post-op info, nothing about sloshing boobs)

    Kymn, you're gorgeous! You look great with a pixie cut.

    Lee Ann, I had Marinol briefly at the start of my chemo. I got anemic, dehydrated and a tummy bug. The last thing I wanted to do was eat. It did seem to help, without me being too giggly. Just... contented, I think is a good way to put it. I smoked pot back in the day, and the Marinol was nothing like that feeling. Once I got my appetite back, I didn't even finish the script (25 pills). They reminded me of great big fish eggs - round and jelly soft, but beige.

    Kathrynn - I had seromas on both sides and could poke them to make them jiggle, but never heard sloshing. You might need that tapped - does it hurt?

    Kymn..you are one gorgeous lady!  Your X doesn't deserve you at all.

    I know losing our hair sucks but it is amazing to me how amazing we ALL look with short hair..my DH thinks short hair is sexy now...and one of our friends really liked my bald head..ha ha..funny stuff..

    Most of the women I know who have had breast cancer still have short hair..I won't ever grow it long again...course I'm 52 now...don't wanna look witchy.

    Wow Kathryn..that must have be interesting to say the least...did you call your nurse or doctor?

    Thanks ladies, doesn't hurt, but I'm big breasted, would probably take a couple gallons to make me hurt, lol. I kid you not, I literally went and checked the toilet, because i thought the noise was the toilet running, heheheheh

    Titan, I started to grow my hair out a little, but quickly got fed up with it and went short. I think I'll keep it that way. And my chemo curl is gone now. Cry

    Speaking of hair and issues, when I decided dyeing my hair wasn't such a priority anymore and stayed grey, my sister (3 yrs older) was downright... gleeful. Seems my dyeing my hair for the past 25 yrs has been sticking in her craw all this time. She belongs to a very controlling church and dyeing one's hair is frowned upon. And she has hated that her hair was greying and mine wasn't. When I realized what was going on, I just had to laugh. Amazing what petty stuff comes bubbling up sometimes.

    Kymn - you look terrific!

    Count me in on the group who's keeping their hair short. I always had long hair (was just below my bra at the back before chemo).  However, I've been getting it cut every six weeks to keep it short and tidy.  I do not miss my long hair one bit.

    I've been trying to grow my hair back to a bob for about ten months and do not like it. So getting a really short cut and color on Wednesday, similar to when it was growing after chemo, and I liked the sassy punk kind of look.

    Kymn - you look faboosh!  Seriously, that cut works for you so well, I'd keep it!  And you carry the platinum blond off perfectly.  New life, new look!!!

    It is amazing how many people say "you carry the short hair look so well" once you actually have short hair, lol.  I will never go back to long - even if I could - just because I adore how easy it is, and I do think it can be very sexy.  I get a little side-burn thing going on, curl it a little, very cute.  And I've found some pretty fun wigs, so I'm okay with changing up my look that way now.  It has thinned considerably on the Abraxane, but that is slowing down so I am still able to get away with nothing for now.

    Titan and Heidi - I was super grey - silver really - the first round of hair that came back.  Then I colored it, and the new growth is much less grey.  Weird!

    kathrynn - sloshing boobs!  Hah!  Yea, I'd say that is a seroma.  Be sure to bleed those drains if you still have them.  I hated bleeding them, it hurt, but moved things along.

    Gilly - I like your short red hair!  I used to have a shoulder-length inverted bob myself, but as you know, things never grow in the same again, sigh.

    Reilly - that's funny about your sister!  I used to give my sister grief for keeping her hair blond and down to her tush (she's 46), but you know what?  It is her hair, and not my business!

    LauraJane - thinking of you.  Check in when you are up to it!!

    ~~~
    Hanging in there.  My dad and sister are coming to visit in two days.  I haven't seen him since my intial diagnosis, it is going to be difficult.  He doesn't do "emotion" very well, although he's come a long way since I was young.  He's afraid of what he will find here, but thankfully I still have my hair and look healthy.  I plan on really pushing him to come to terms with my health, and opening up with me.  It will be rough, but worth it.
    On a positive note - I am soooo happy for my older sister.  Me and DH introduced her to a co-worker of DH's a few month ago, and they are head over heels in love.  She has such a bad track record with men, and this guy is just amazing.  I am so blessed that I am finally able to see her happy and content (even if it doesn't end up lasting, at least she has now!).
    Physically I'm hanging in there.  My cough doesn't seem to be getting any worse - maybe even a smidge better? - so I'm taking each day.  I wake up feeling good, have a few "fits" throughout the day, but that's about it.  I have to start taking something next week to prevent steroid pneumonia, as I have a small amount of fluid on my lungs (very minor), so that could also be causing some cough.
    Anyway, that was a book.  Just felt chatty today.  Hope everyone has a great day!  I'm watching NFL today - go Bengals - and my college team won their big rivalry yesterday (go FSU!), so I'm a happy camper!!
    Good to hear from everyone!  Kymn, your hair is really cute!  I am headed toward the brillo pad look myself - mine came in its usual curly self but I think much grayer (don't really know because I've colored it since I was about 35.) Bought some Burt's Bees citrus facial scrub today to try to help my poor dry facial skin.
    The halaven (eribulin) is starting to kick my butt.  I think I remember reading that it has a longer half life - whatever it is, I can tell I'm going to have to cut back on my work schedule.  I didn't do anything yesterday but walk 2 miles and stayed exhausted all day. (And I didn't even have chemo Friday.) Today I just now got to the office.  I have walked two miles and made quick trip to grocery to get some fruit. I have so much work to catch up on that I feel rather defeated.
    My white counts are low, though, and I remain anemic - so I guess I deserve to be tired. The PT stretched my scar area yesterday and it felt fantastic - took away that "drawing" feeling.  He instructed me on a good stretch - yoga child's pose, then reach affected side's arm as far as possible up and over past the midline of the body.  The trial nurse thinks my white counts should rebound enough by next Friday to get chemo.
    I love all th hair stories and descriptions! I was surprised how much my husband liked my short hair the last time I went through this crap, but I grew it back out. I will probably keep it short this time if it comes back! I am now 2 weeks pfc and have hardly any hair growth, just these crazy wild sparse white hairs that are about a quarter of an inch long and a few dark stubbles. not attractive at all:)  I will probably always color my hair, I always get bored with my color and besides, it is what I do.
    Oh, I think the my work is having a benefit for me, I am not positive but it kinda looks that way. They scheduled a holiday party for clients and staff on my surgery date! I jokingly gave them a bad time about it. Then I was looking at the flyer and it was asking everyone to wear pink. The staff sign up sheet also had "pink" cupcakes on the list. They are collecting money for drinks, which we do every year for different charities. Maybe they are raising money for bc research. I kinda hope it is not for me, as my ssdi starts soon and when it does we will be ok financially and I would feel bad if they give me money when I may not need it. I am bummed about missing the party, it is always fun, some clients and friends bring items to sale, such as xmas decorations, jewelry, purses, alot of cool stuff.
    Heide how far out are you?  I am almost 18 weeks and have almost as much as your last pic.
    I am loving the short hair, just wish I could do something with it.  It is trying to curl, but not long enough yet so some just sticks straight out!
    bak- I don't really remember. I just looked in the mirror one day and said, "Hey, my hair's growing back!" Maybe 2-3 weeks after last chemo?
    ks- I'm *way* out (last chemo was Dec.7th 2009) but I did go through the same stage you are at now, where it wanted to stick out, so I freaked out my 20 something sons and punked it for awhile. Laughing
    Kathryn,
    I actually heard sloshing too! This was after my drains were pulled. I went back in for fluid removal almost weekly after my most recent MX. My surgery was in May and by July I finally was able to stop going in for fluid removal.
    Did I read it here? "Some women are just juicier than others". Truely, at my age that is not where I wish the "juice" was! Ha!
    Kymn,
    Love that smile and the short hair! I have been thinking of you since I first read about how things are going for you...referring the x. One way of releasing some of that energy is to take a few of the things that you have of his/your life together and BURN THEM! I did this once and it was such a release...I visually burned my ties to him. Moving on after that was much easier.
    For all of us: an affirmation I often use for release. You know the women you thought were your friends until you got F*BC or as in Kymn's case an X...
    I release you and let you go to your highest good. The good of one is the good of all.
    PEACE
