I have had a gloriously wonderful day . . . worked in my flower beds all morning, sat in the hot tub and then read a book on the deck for ~ an hour . . . then took an oatmeal & bubble bath . . . then briefly went shopping - bought fresh corn, plums, peaches and a book . . . and ate greek salad and clam chowder at a good restaurant here . . . planted some mums this evening . . . . altogether perfect, and I feel fine. I did notice that ~ 20 or more hairs dropped out while "scratching" my head, sitting after gardening . . . . an indicator of what is coming my way this week . . . EACH hair, I'm trying to say OK - one dead cancer cell = 1 dead hair follicle . . . yea team!
Have a pleasant evening! (It's August 11 - normal temp in WV is ~ 90-95° with high humidity - today it's been low 70's and little humidity - - WONDERFULLY PLEASANT.)

Hey Titan - I am "FROM" Ohio - have lived in WV TOO long, but claim OHIO as my home - 4 of 5 siblings live in Ohio as well as many cousins, etc.

Recent visitor... yep... some things never change in my household.... critters..... and more critters. This was a juvenile broad-shouldered hawk, most likely attacked by a Great Horned Owl.

The boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an urgent problem with one of the main computers.
He dialed the employees home phone number and was greeted with a child's whispered on the first ring, "Hello?"
Feeling put out at the inconvenience of having to talk to a youngster the boss asked, "Is your Daddy home?".
"Yes.", whispered the small voice.
May I talk with him?", the man asked.
To the surprise of the boss, the small voice whispered, "No."
Wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, "Is your Mommy there?".
"Yes.", came the answer.
"May I talk with her?".
Again the small voice whispered, "No."
Knowing that it was not likely that a young child would be left home alone, the boss decided he would just leave a message with the person who should be there watching over the child. "Is there any one there besides you?", the boss asked the child.
"Yes", whispered the child, "A policeman."
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee's home, the boss asked, "May I speak with the policeman?".
"No, he's busy.", whispered the child.
"Busy doing what?", asked the boss.
"Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman.", came the whispered answer.
Growing concerned and even worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter through the ear piece on the phone the boss asked, "What is that noise?".
"A hello-copper.", answered the whispering voice.
What is going on there?", asked the boss, now alarmed.
In an awed whispering voice the child answered, "The search team just landed the hello-copper!"
Alarmed, concerned and more than just a little frustrated the boss asked, "Why are they there?"
Still whispering, the young voice replied along with a muffled giggle, "They're looking for me!"0 -
Yes, I am a Houston Texan fan - they won last night! I believe they are supposed to be good this year as long as everyone can stay healthy! Going to be a fun season!

Hello ladies!
So sad to read of Becca's passing.
I am now in a hotel in Maine. Rain and fog - oh joy! Picking up MIL at noon.0 -
Titan--- my son made that when he was little, and I always loved it. But, silly you, don't we *all* have skeletons "on" our closet? You know me, always the jokester!
Sailing..... maybe I'll drop in and post more pics now & then.

OBXK - sorry for the crummy weather here in New England. It's been humid and rainy, and I don't think today is going to be great although it may clear out later this afternoon. I hope you see some sunshine! Otherwise, eat some lobster, clam chowder and blueberry pie! Oh, do that regardless of the weather!

Michelle_ we are loving the lobster! My 12 year old insist on eating it daily. He ordered lobster pizza yesterday at lunch. I am headed out to brunch soon, I hope I can get a bowl of lobster bisque, to enjoy on this gloomy day. Kid is in the heated outdoor pool with dad. I enjoying the first little bit of alone time on days making memories...

Heidi, he is beautiful! Are you rehabbing him? I love all kinds of wildlife, but I'm glad we don't have Great Horned Owls here. I have an indoor/outdoor habitat for my cats and a few months ago had Barred Owls nesting nearby. One even sat on the privacy fencing looking at the cats one night about 8 pm. I was really worried but from what I read, it seemed the Great Horned Owl is much more of a threat to larger animals like adult cats.

When we went to Maine a couple of years ago, I ate lobster rolls every single day! Oh, and the blueberry pie was a regular thing, too!!

I am a HUGE football fan. Sunday in our house growing up was in front of the TV and my mom would make sure we had Sunday dinner before the late game. I grew up as a Browns fan - my Dad is a die hard. Poor guy......they always suck. But they're fun to watch. My brother moved to Indy for University and so now we're all COLTS fans. He has seasons tickets so my DH and I get down a few times a season to watch. We're going to the COLTS and Green Bay game in October - it's the Breast Cancer game. Should be a great time.

Dropping in to say hello to all - been so busy both at work and getting my grand-daughter back to school tomorrow (and not to mention broke from all the shopping!). Starting her senior year and college hunting - I'm too old for all this again - help!!!! Welcome to all the new gals that have come on board - I wish you all well and may you all have gentle journies with your treatments.
Heidi - glad to hear you are well, happy and living life to the fullest. Keep on keeping on.
Luv - Keeping up with your posts, you are truly an amazing lady. I take my hat off to your courage, valor and upbeat personality. I am sad that you must go through further treatment, but at the same time remain optimistic that this next treatment or trial will work it's magic. You are and will remain in my thoughts and prayers.
Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and wish you all a good week ahead.
Hugs,
Linda

Thought I would pop in to say Hello to all. I haven't been here for a while, but all is well and coming up on my 2 year cancerversary! It's exciting but nerve racking at the same time! Thought I'd share this picture with you guys. Hope I insert it right. This is my husband's business and, well, I guess someone thought it should be a drive through!
I think of each of you often. You're always in my prayers....

Funny story about lobster rolls. First A/C chemo treatment and DH offers to go get us lunch. I've read that you shouldn't eat your absolutely favorite foods during chemo, and most probably not while you're being infused, lest you develop a nasty association between that food and chemo! He loves D'Angelo's subs and he thinks he can get away with going there because they have lobster rolls. So off he goes, comes back with his steak and cheese fat bomb and a lobster roll for me. So there I sat, eating a lobster roll while my chemo nurse pushed the red devil!!! I couldn't eat another one until well after I finished all my treatment. It's a wonder he didn't kill it for life!
Christina - thanks for posting that link...it sure sounds hopeful!
Linda - so sweet of you to say that! And yes, there's a reason why we had our kids young. Oh my, I can't imagine raising a child at this point in my life, but then, it's great that you are able to do it.
Yes, treatment sucks, but it beats the alternative at this point!
Angelisa - oh my, that's not good at all!!! I'm sure that made the local newscast! And congrats on getting to the two year mark!
Cocker - wishing nothing but good news for you and your daughter tomorrow.
OBXK - don't miss out on blueberry muffins, too!

Lobster rolls for lunch today! Things went pretty well with all the in laws today. Only had to put a brother on law on his place, when mistakenly thought he was in charge. Silly man!
My bones are killing me, and I'm feel like the song. " Go ask Alice" Ritalin for the days, Ativan at night.
Hope everyone in treatment is doing well.
Annie - did I miss the news on Mandy? Hope the next week flies.0
