Hi all, I ahve been busy sewing, sewing and sewing some more.  I lose all track of time when I am in my sewing room.  Trying to work out some anxiety about the Nerve Conduction Study that I will have tomorrow morning.

Elisimo - I had one during chemo for my numbness/tingling.  It wasn't too bad, just a little spark - like ouch! Quick.  It seemed to help to relax.

Thanks for the infromation Omaz, I am trying not to freak out since this is the first time I have had this done and DH won't be able to go with me and he generally goes with me to all my appointments.

Omaz - friends all are still working, except one that lives in High Point, NC and that is a little too far for her to come and be here in time for the appointment since it is about 2 hours away from me and the appointment is at 7:45 in the morning.

Sherryc - I appreciate all the thoughts.

barbara, granny & tori - thanks!  I am doing better with the rash, now my skin just feels like sandpaper and looks blotchy but I am no longer itchy.  I have entered the bruised and sore phase, and I have some bruises in some pretty weird places!  I was expanded to 575 cc's on the left and now have a 600 cc implant so I have swelling and soreness.  I did manage to get out of the house yesterday for a few hours which was very nice.  Still nervous having spiked a 101.2 fever on Wed. night - it didn't last so I didn't call the doc.  I see him Tues. so I will see what he says.

elisimo - good luck on your test.  Hopefully easy as omaz says.  We are in your pocket.

I'm here too. Just trying to live the good life. Just bought a house (first time I'm planning for my future since cancer) and spendig time with my DH since the first year of our marriage I was going through chemo. Right now life is pretty darn good. I've gained aoubt 10lbs but I guess that is to be expected since I'm all these wonderful menopausal drugs. How is everyone doing? Anything new and excting going on?

    xoxo

Nothing much new here. Except..have I told you all how much I hate my job? I would retire if I could get health insurance for less than 2K/month. But DH is great and I am plugging along.

Well I survived the nerve conduction study.  DH changed his plans and told the people at work that he needed to be with me so he went with me to the appointment for the nerve conduction study.  I am really glad he did that as I kind of lost it during the test.  The shocks were bad enough, but the probe that delivered the shocks was worse especialy on my legs.  I thought the tech was going to stab it all the way to the bone!  The Dr. said I have mild neuropathy in my hands and feet, like I didn't already know that.  Oh well at least it is in my record now as being dx.  Only took 3 hours so I got to go to a new fabric shop before coming home to a nap.  DH is so good to and for me, glad he loves me in spite of me.

Elisimo - I am so sorry you had to go through that.  I must have had a different version because it was 'only' about 30 minutes!  Glad it is over with and your husband could go with you.  Was it Electromyography (EMG)?
  • Elisimo
    Elisimo Member Posts: 1,262

Omaz - I'm not sure what the call it they only told me it was a nerve conduction study, but it very well could have been an EMG. All I am sure about is there were a lot of electrodes and a lot of shocking.

At least I got a trip to a new fabric shop and a long nap after.  I felt like I had done a marathon workout at a gym.

Elisimo - Last weekend I converted 3 long-sleeved shirts into short sheeve shirts.  I have too many hot flashes to wear long sleeves anymore.  That's about all the sewing I have done for a while.  This summer though I am committed to teaching my 16 year old daughter how to sew.  I started sewing when I was 11 and am glad I know how.  I am not sure which I like more though, picking out the fabric or actually sewing it.  There are so many beautiful fabrics.

Omaz - Glad you are getting a little sewing in and hope your 16 yr old wants to learn how to sew. That would make the teaching process easier for both of you.  I love the feel of the fabrics and then putting peices together to make something pretty or useful.  I had gotten too busy to sew for a long time, but bc changed that and now I am sewing again and loving it.  I got to renew an activity that makes me happy and calms my days.  Good luck teaching your daughter how to sew. I hope you two have many pleasant hours together learning and creating.
