    Hello ladies: Laughing

I am February 2010, doing OK.  Not sure what to do with the extra pounds, and not sure how to "relax" properly.  Always feeling like a little sardine dangling on the end of the fishing pole, waiting for the big fish to pounce and eat me.  However, notice a few new things, like headache!  It comes and it goes gals, but I am sick and tired going to get things checked so I don't.  I have a regular appointment coming up in July, no scans, just a "visual" assessment.  Being diagnosed so young I was lucky to be pushed through "rapid diagnostic clinic" in one of the best hospitals in Canada.  However, medicine being state sponsored like it is, you cannot ask for scans, all scans have to be duly justified, and I look great and cheerful to them, so they blame all pangs and tangs on chemo and loss of estrogen.  I am completely menopausal.  My pain threshold is high, but they always ask me to rate it, and somehow so far, knock on wood they have been right to dismiss it.  I guess they know their suspicious patients when they see them.  I am concerned that no one scanned anything in a while, and they do the basic mammograms and breast MRI's annually.  What about other stuff, prone to recurrence, liver, head, bones, bladder, ovaries, lungs...  I feel like I totally skipped my 40ies, and went straight to 50ies.  Heavy and slow.  I wish I could still pick up my kid, but he's big too, and easily embarrassed, so he wouldn't even let me, I think.

But I am thankful for whatever I can get too.  A great line from a movie SPEED, after Keanu and Jeff dismantled a big bomb and survived the blast they go to a bar and get properly drunk.  Jeff says "I'm gonna go home make love to my wife", Keanu answers "Harry, you're gonna go home and puke."  And Jeff replies "Well, that'll be fun too"...

Live your lives girls, like the Parisians did the last night before Hitler invaded Paris, or something like that!

Boob looks fine, shoulder freezes, swimming helps (sadly no more front crawl and butterfly, only mild breaststroke).

Dx 2/25/2010, IDC, 1cm, Stage II, Grade 3, 3/19 nodes, ER+/PR-, HER2-Double lumpectomy L, one cancer, one not, auxiliary node dissection, FEC chemo and 30 + 6 rad zaps, all behind me, forever I can only hope.

shelle - so sorry to hear of your sudden loss. You and your extended family are in my prayers.  I know what a loop this type of news can through you.  Let me know if you need anything, even a shoulder to cry on. I have been know to just show up on doorsteps when least expected.

I found out last week that my aunt was just dx with a recurrence of bc. Her original dx was in 1958 or there abouts and it is a miracle that she survived the treatment that was available then, now she is really scared of that same treatment being the only option for her now. Fortunately there are a lot more options now that are less devastating.  Pray for Aunt Billie, she is the last surviving sibling of my dad. (My dad died 5 weeks before my dx.) She has been in a nursing home for the last 4 years, and as her son says, giving them hell.  She calls herself a feisty old duck!  Her prognosis is fairly good considering her age, 91 in Dec.  I think her dr may need more prayers, just dealing with her. Hehehehehe

Sherry - thanks for the prayers for Aunt Billie, she came through surgery fine and will be on what her MO tells her is her chemo, but acutally it is Famara!  I was surprised at this but then I have not found out her exact dx yet.  Her kids are not talking to me right now since they seem to think I will be the executor of her will if something happens to her and as far as I know that is not the case and even if it were I would refuse.  Dealing with my Mom and Dad's has been more than enough of that.  I will leave any other relative that "pleasure".

Elisimo so glad your aunt Billie came through surgery well.  Too bad about the kids.  $$$ too often brings out the worst in people.  One of my best childhood friends family stays in an uproar and it is all about the $$$$

    Hi All,

I think I am about out my funk now. I've missed you all. I see lots has been going on, prayers all around. I'm not going to try to catch up, I'm just going to jump back in.

Work has finally let up, and I can start walking again (thanks for the speed walking ideas Amy Jo). My energy has been kind of low, not sure why, so I hope the exercise will help. My DD is in Raleigh tonight at the Roger Waters concert, her birthday was yesterday and I sent her tickets for the concert tonight.

Going to bed early gals. Goodnight!

Huggs to you granny - pray you get relief soon for your LE.  Found out my problem was cording when I had the pains in my arm and LE PT worked them out.  I go every 6mos now to get my Ldex numbers check for increase in LE so far so good I am staying within the accepted margins.

I hate to say it but the temp in No Dallas area has been mild compaired to last year.  I do not know if we have had many days of 100+.  Last year we almost had 40 days straight.

I will share my fav scripture vs. that I said when I was first dx and still say everyday.  Phil 4:13 I (we) can do all things through Christ which gives us strength.

On my way to get my zometa infusion and my three month MO check up.  Everyone have a blessed weekend.

2010 sister here, too.  Lots of treatments and surgeries and I am finally, after more than a year and a half, able to think about doing more than working or being in a chair or bed. I get around a lot for work, but no healthy and active or recreational activity. Too many pain issues, but I have a pain mgmt physician working on that so I hope to be able to have a more normal life soon.

My lymphedema therapist suggested I start with the LiveStrong program for cancer survivors to ease into things and because they know how to be careful with issues people like us have.  If the YMCA in my area of town has it, I will hope to start that soon. But the only one around may be way north of me, so I will need to figure something else out. It looks like many of you are doing so well and I plan to catch up with you all one day!

can you give me some info on the LiveStrong program...I have a YMCA in my area and would love to get slowly back into shape.I tend to do things too fast expecting instant results...im learning that it doesnt work.

You will catch up one day.As i always say the worst is behind us.look forward..

please stay with us...and keep us posted...we care!!!!

Granny, with the swimming and the Zumba, it sounds like you are well back into things!

    Here is info:

    http://www.livestrong.org/What-We-Do/Our-Actions/Programs-Partnerships/LIVESTRONG-at-the-YMCA

It is designed as a transition program for adult cancer survivors to help get them back to normal or a "new normal".

Thanks for inviting me to stay with you.  I have been a member here since right after my second of six surgeries.  I have been sort of watching from the outside but getting more active. I need to branch out from reconstruction which as been very difficult for me.  I am looking for more needed positive personal experiences.  Could it be in IDC? Who knew...

    Karen,

I had all kinds of expensive scarves and wigs, but I lived in and loved these softhats:

    http://www.softhats.com/category.php

My favorite was the Options hat.  I also liked the Fold Up and slept in one of those most nights.  Between those two and the colors available you can cover all needs.  I loved these.

hello, my name is Cindy, I was diagnosed with IDC on June 8th.  My initial pathology show a 1.9cm tumor triple positive grade 1/3. Opt'd for lumpectomy which was performed Friday July 20th which included extraction of three of my lymph nodes.  Kind of sore, but know it could have been worse.  I was told by my surgeon that she believes she got clear margin and where it was close; she took a little extra good tissue.  Great News!!! I have to wait until 7/26 to get the pathology report and determine whether I will have to undergo chemo in addition to the 6 1/2 weeks of radiation.  I am encouraged by the support each of you provide each other.  Needing a warm hug of encouragement too.  It is amazing how our priorities change when we are shaken to our core by cancer.  Hope to return the support to others that are facing this valley.
