Seebha, some people have been told to flush the toilet twice after using if you share a bathroom with others. You'll see that the Adriamycin (if you get it) comes right out in the urine. Other than that I make no special concessions for having a little one. I kiss her on the cheek more often than lips if she has a runny nose, etc because you are more susceptible to infection. Unfortunately yesterday she was perfectly fine, we shared a straw, and 2 hours later she wakes up with a scorching fever!! Ugh! Hope I don't get it!! You won't be in bed all day, you will have good days and bad days. I recommend a nap every day at least.

Just chiming in....my advice is to not get so caught up in thinking about how you'll feel. I devoted so much energy on dreading it. I say just go with it and make NO plans. That's the one thing I did. I am an overcommitted woman, so for my chemo I committed to not a single engagement. Not only did it help me rest more, but it helped me mentally.
I wish you the very best, and take all the meds, even when you don't feel sick. They make you sleepy but it's worth it.0 -
As far as what to bring - you can choose to make it your own quiet time with a book, your ipod, and/or a nap. Or you can bring a partner or friend to keep you company. My husband came to most of my treatments and we brought simple games to play that didn't require too much energy. Make sure to have a sweatshirt on hand - as I think most chemo rooms are cold. And bring some snacks too.

Another 30 something checking in. I was diganosed last year at 32, I'm 33 now and still on herceptin and just started tamoxifen. I'm married and I have an 8 yr old boy and a soon to be ::gulp:: 13 yr old girl.

Hi Ladies...I thought I had posted on here but maybe not! I was diagnosed at 31 in Sept 12'. Did 4 Dose Dense/AC followed by 12 weekly Taxol. Finished chemo the end of Feb and had BMX beginning of April. I had an excellent response to chemo but because of my age and being Triple Neg I decided to do radiation as well. I am at the end of my 3rd week of RADS and all is good so far...just a little fatigue and missing my family so much! My treatment is 4 hours from home so I have to stay here all week and go home on the weekends...sorry we have to share this common bond but glad to know I am not alone!!

I just wanted to say Hi and let Jenna and Rachel know that my diagnosis is close to theirs and I had the same treatments last year..It actually wasnt too bad and I continued to work and have 4 children 12,10,7, and 6 years old at the time...Have faith and focus on the positive not the negative!

Hello young warriors. I am 36 was DX in March, 1.98cm ER/PR+ her2- grade 3. Stage 1b. One dr says stage II one says Ib doesn't matter really. Same treatment.
8 days out from my 1st a/c dense dose treatment. So far so good. Standard side effects nothing unbearable or unmanageable.
Glad I found this thread today it's bitter sweet seeing others my age dealing with the same.
Curious though why my Dr is only giving 4 taxol treatments following a/c as I am seeing many woman my age getting more treatments. Wonder if I should question this second course?
Any suggestions?

Raindeer - I was 37 at diagnosis. I got four dose dense AC followed by only 4 taxol too. I started herceptin with my taxol. Not sure why some get more taxols. Chemo with kids is doable ladies. Not fun - but doable for sure. Good luck!

12 taxol weekly equal 4 every other week.. Equals to same dosage... Just weekly is. Less at a time Bc I was going to di 4 bi weekly then opted for weekly.. Less side effects

new here and I am 37. Just had a bilateral mastectomy 3 weeks ago. Waiting to hear from oncology to find out what the next step is.... Chemo or not . I hope to connect with someone who's going through similar things as me. Trying to stay positive in all this, just some day's its really really hard.

I had my bilateral mastectomies, chemo and now tamoxifen. Let me tell you, it is still very hard. Sometimes I think this isn't really happening to me, but it is.
It does get easier to cope with but new things always arise. Keep you head up, and think positive thoughts.0 -

hi ladies thanks for the warm welcome. I should get a call in the next 48 hours from the cancer centre to book an appt to talk to an oncologist. *sigh* I had waiting.
