I spoke too soon. The weight I thought I had gained visiting DS & GS showed up on Thurs. 134 again. And I had worked so hard to get to 132.

Consolidated my losses / stayed the same. I actually gained a kilo (!) in between and had to cut down on cakes and co. as well as exercise more before this morning's weigh in. Thanks for being here to make me do that.

yay Ruth and cindyl!  Wish I could say the same, but alas, there no longer is a 5 in the middle of my weight.  160.5 this morning - sigh :(

Pat - It is so frustrating when you don't think you are doing anything "wrong" and your weight bounces up, instead of continuing that nice gentle downward slide.

158 this morning - one lb down. I am struggling to keep myself in check - just want to eat and eat! Started Tamoxifen on Aug. 1, but don't want to blame it on that. That's just too easy.

    134 still. :(

    Hello Ladies,

I've decided to join you all. I was encouraged by reading your posts! They show that despite our achy joints, sore muscles, and slowed metabolisms losing weight on AI's or Tamox is possible! No more excuses for me. I've been out of treatment for over a year and it's time to get serious about consistently losing towards the goal of shedding my extra pounds of fat.

Thank you for inspiring those of us who need some encouragement on the journey to fitness. I feel that I need accountability and others to cheer me on. I've lost 40 pounds since diagnosis/treatment in 2010. BUT, I need to lose 65 more. It helps me to break it down into smaller amounts, so right now I am working on the next "deacade" of weight, or 10 pound chunck.

My goal is to not be in the "obese" category any longer. Every time I read about one of those studies that show that overweight and obese women don't do as well and are more likely to have a recurrence I break out into a hot flash because I am so freightened. I want to do all that I can to get to a healthy weight. So here I am.

Most days, 5 to 6 days a week, I am getting in 30 minutes of exercise. My feet are horrible due to treatment related side effects, neuropathy, etc. So, I am walking a couple of times a week, biking a couple and swimming about twice a week. It is really helping me to feel better and have more stamina.

I follow Weight Watchers online for portion control and accountability. I try to make breast cancer healthy choices within the program and not just eat to stay under the points allotment. I find that I need the structure and it keeps me on track. Since I don't go to the meetings (costs quite a bit more than the online program) I need someone to share my losses, and even gains, with. As fellow survivors you ladies understand our unique challenges and can celebrate our progress towards a healthy weight. Sometimes I have so much to lose it becomes discouraging. But I am inspired by others on this forum who have lost large amounts of weigh and show that it can be done.

Lastly, most others may be motivated to lose weight to look better or to be able to fit into clothes or even feel better. But as cancer survivors we have the very real motivation that our lives may depend on it. That has made all the difference for me this time around the table and scale! I am excited to join you all on the journey to health and fitness.

    With Appreciation,

    Charlotte

Welcome, Charlotte.  Welcome to the running scared club.  I've been obese my whole life (well at least) since I was 5 or so.  I too read those studies and got motivated.  Whatever it takes, eh?

  • Welcome Charlotte!

After having two week where all I did was bounce around and have my weight go up, I went down 1.2 lbs this week and am down a total of 15.2 lbs. I really don't know what I did differently this week but I'm not complaining.

I'm still using www.loseit.com and am loving the help it gives me for free!

Welcome Charlotte! loseit.com is great and free! I know it really helps me stay on track when I know that every Wednesday I will 'have to' report my progress (or lack thereof). And weight control, along with exercise, are two big things we can do for ourselves, not only to reduce our chance of recurrence, but to reduce the chance of a long list of other health problems too!

If you want some exercise pals, to go along with the weight loss pals, check out the "Lets Post Our Daily Exercise" thread on the fitness forum.

Now I'm off trying not to eat a midnight snack!

160-  Back to a six in the middle, boo.  (c:  I was just given the go ahead by doc to begin    C25K again.  Tomorrow is day one and hopefully I will see a 5 in the middle soon!

Charlotte, that sounds like a great exercise program!  Adey, good to have you back!

Up 300 grams. Liefie, I do blame it on the Tamoxifen. I think it's building bone! I started two weeks after you.

159.5  down a lb since last wednesday, but up a 1/2 lb since last friday - still, the overall trend is down, so I'll take it.

Welcome back Adey - I'm still only on week 4 of c25k, I'm taking it very slowly.

Down a pound.  10 for the last 4 weeks and 33 overall.  1/3 of the way to my goal!

Grrrrr. 133.5 this morning. Down .5 from last week, but still up 1.5 from two weeks ago. Guess I'm going to have to add exercise beyond walking.

159 lbs this morning. I have been see-sawing between 158 and 159 for some time now. As long as I don't break through the 160 lb barrier - LOL. Just cannot get myself motivated to stay on a definite eating plan. I mostly stay within the designated calories per day, but don't eat as healthy as I should. Why is this so hard?

Maybe I had better start checking in here. I was 268 in January when I got the nasty mammogram and biopsy. I am down to around 252 now. Got to get to around 160 and get rid of all these estrogen factories in my fat cells!

I am working out and increasing my aerobic capacity as much as possible.

     I have gone from a size 24 to a 20.

    Gotta keep on!

    Welcome Akinto!

You have made a lot of progress already!  Remember, you did not gain all that weight overnight either!  This is a great thread to keep you weighing in, and if you want some motivation on excercising, try the "Let's Post our Daily Exercise" thread.  Also, if you want extra help with eating, you can check out the free website to keep track of intake and excercise.  www.loseit.com

Well, I finally got back on my Wii board to weigh in and have gained 6 pounds over the summer - See what happens when you stop checking in regularly!!Embarassed

My sisters, niece and I have started the C25K program (we are actually re-doing week 1).  Last time (Monday), I actually did not get winded on our last running portion, so I hope that when we start week 2 in the program (next Monday), I will be able to do it!

Congrats to everyone for their accomplishments whether it resulted in weight loss or not!

Hello to My New BC Weigh-In Forum Friends!

Welcome Akinto. I also have to lose a lot to get to a healthier place. We can encourage one another on the journey.

Just came from the fitness center at the medical center where I had all my surgeries and treatments. Before biking I did my Wednesday weigh-in there as I was hoping I didn't have to post a gain my first week with you all.

Down 1 lb 8 oz (or 1.5 lbs, but it sounds like more in pounds and oz...doesn't it?) WooHoo! 41.5 lbs total lost and 63.5 to go.

Had a few social get-togethers this past week and am pleased that I didn't avoid them, but neither did I over indulge like I would have if I wasn't keeping track.

    All the Best!

    Charlotte

    humm sounds interesting.

  • I'm up 0.4 lb from last Wednesday but I've been bouncing around all week and for some reason my pants feel looser the last few days.

Congratulations to all those having losses this week!
