Wednesday Weigh In

Science gal-that's great! I just got a pedometer also and have found it very motivational. I admire your strength, and have to start thinking of why I sometimes make bad choices. Congrats on your excellent choice!

Thanks Sylv- I have figured out that I make bad choices because I am feeling sorry for myself and internally use my cancer card to say "I deserve this". But food shoud NOT be my reward for bad days or just because I am having a little pity party about all my sucky treatments. Our bodies need good nutrition, now more than ever.
I need to turn more to retail therapy for my instant gratification - I love thrift stores and a two dollar purchase can be much more fun than eating a big mac. Also walking around stores helps rack up the steps on the pedometer!0 -
Finally, I broke through my slow weight loss for at least this week. I tried something something different, and lost 3 pounds. Now I'm at 164.4, down from pre-diagnosis of 180!
It's nice to see efforts paid off!!!
Hope we all have a good week.!

Wow. great work Peggy! I will wait & post tomorrow to see if I made the whole 6 pounds by the 4th....I'm still a drop up & have a banquet tonight, so it's not looking promising.

Peggy - great news - good for you!
I didn't gain and I didn't lose this week - exactly the same.

Same here, too. Won't make it til tomorrow. I still don't regret the chocolate truffles I ate last night.
Happy 4th everyone!

Yahoo! Lost 2.2 176 from 178.2. I have been either walking outside daily or on my treadmill for half an hour. I'm really trying to look at my food choices differently, as I realize I self medicate with junk food. Now I'm trying to imagine bad choices as something "cancer" wants and to look at my healthy choices as a way to a longer life. I'm hoping that I can at least loose the newly acquired chemo weight easily ( hopefully it hasn't settled into a more permanent state) and then try and loose the remaining 20-25 pounds I've been lugging around this last decade.
Hope my American sisters have a great HEALTHY 4th of July!0 -
Great job Peggy and slv!!!
I am holding steady at the same weight this week and will intensify my exercise efforts after I finish radiation therapy august 1. Hoping to lose my last ten of chemo weight gain then.
Slv I agree totally with the "self-medication", I have totally used food as my reward and comforst system through my chemo and surgeries. I never used to do that. I am also eating a lot more healthy now because the evil tumor cells want caffeine and sugar. Convincing myself that I dont!!!! My healthy cells want kale. LOL
I am looking forward to watching the hot dog eating contest tomorrow on the fourth of July- but NOT participating haha.
May the force be with you through the parties girls!0 -
Ok still 9 stone 7 so happy to not have gained. My legs are thinner and I'm starting to look good better than 6 months ago. People have said I look better so I'll take that and be happy. Going to yoga tonight which is hard work but worth it.

Down .5 to 131. Still in the bouncing around range.

Dropped back to my pre-vacation low. Now I need to break through this wall!!

down .5 this morning so not quite 6 pounds in 6 weeks but darn close!
Doing a Firecracker 5K fun run/walk tomorrow. Of course, I am walking not running. As I like to say, I'm built for comfort not speed. But I'll walk really really fast! Thankfully, this year it will be WAY cooler than last year when it was nearly 90 degrees by 9 a.m.

still need to get off the last .8 for the six. Those of us who were trying for the '6 by the 4th' and are close, lets try to finish them off by next Wednesday!
Happy Birthday, America!

OK, Ruth, it's a deal!
Watching the Brewers-Nats game, then we'll head to a family BBQ.
Have a safe and happy fourth, everyone. Happy Birthday, America!

Well, the bet certainly did not stop me from eating everything in sight yesterday, but it's helping me be good today anyway (I just threw out the leftover chips!).

OK, so last Wednesday was my official start to a new push to lose some weight. I'm tracking my food and exercise on loseit, very eye opening to see how many calories I consume on the weekend (cocktails and snacks). The weekends are really my downfall, I can be good during the week, then become too social on the weekend. The key is being social while not eating and drinking to excess, which I need to work on.
So, I am down 1 lb to 162 - a good start. Hope to break through the 160 barrier by the middle of August, slow and steady weight loss which I hope will be sustainable.

No loss this week, but yahoo no gain! 176

Ugh two pound gain for me but I had a buffet lunch right before an unexpected weigh-in at my RO's office, moment of weakness. I will try harder before I get weighed next week!!!
My hope was to hold steady through radiation, then work on that last ten pounds, not GAIN!!
At least I am able to work out a bit more though, now that the severe edema in my right ankle is finally gone. 15 mins on the exercise bike this AM, which is good for me, right now, with this "new normal".
Congrats to everyone who lost, keep up the good work!0 -
Congrats on losing the edema, sciencegirl!
No gain for me either. I'll take it.

Me too. Stuck at the same. Can't wait to break through to the next lower ten!! But I made peach cobbler for company and thoroughly enjoyed it, too. I should just make broccoli for company. ;-)
