Down .5 to 161.5. Down is a miracle after my pigout at a friends 50th birthday party sunday. Make your own sundaes - I almost went back for seconds!

Down .5 to 130.5. I swear there was a 29 on that scale a couple of days ago.

Up one and a half pounds - tea party on Friday, dinner with friends sunday, carrot cake last night. What was I thinking losing my focus like that? Will do better. Have to.
Ruthbru, what did you do to lose the 5 vacation lbs so quickly?
0 -
Thanks Svl! I'm just under 5'2" and smalled-boned, so it's not all that impressive, but I'm happy with it! I was over 140 lbs when diagnosed with BC, so this is definitely healthier. My WW goal weight 4 years ago was 126 lbs, but sadly, I didn't maintain that after I became a lifetime member. I'm only one of their temporary success stories, but I'll be going back.

It wasn't so quickly...it took me two weeks to put them on and three and a half to get them back off!

Okay, Ruthbru, thanks for putting things into perspective for me. It never fails to amaze me how quickly I can put on pounds, and how long it takes to shake them off - LOL!

Here's a joke sent to me by my sister. Enjoy!
A naked woman steps on a scale, checks her weight, and announces, 'I will subtract 5 lbs from my weight. Boobs and brains this fabulous should not count against me!'

Happy Weds, I am down too. Wish I were down two but one will do!
I own a funny book titled, "My weight is always perfect for my height - which varies."

Liefie, I love that

Do not try this at home! (story by Deidre Cox Baker of the Quad Cities Times)
The medical director of the Iowa Department of Public Health, or IDPH, sends out a news alert every week.
Dr. Patricia Quinlisk e-mailed the following news today, speaking of an Iowa woman who deliberately swallowed a type of worm in order to lose weight.
This tapeworm can live for years in a human's digestive tract, and grow up to something like 20 yards long. It also reproduces by itself.
Yikes! Can you spell "d-e-s-p-e-r-a-t-e m-e-a-s-u-r-e-s?"
Here is what Dr. Quinlisk had to say:
Recently an Iowa health care provider consulted with IDPH about a patient who had deliberately ingested a tapeworm (probably a scolex) that she had obtained via the internet.
Tapeworm infections are usually caused by ingesting food or water contaminated with tapeworm eggs or larvae, and is associated with weight loss. Despite the risks associated with tapeworms, patients can find suppliers of this tapeworm in order to as a weight lose strategy.
Ingesting tapeworms is extremely risky and can cause a wide range of undesirable side effects, including rare deaths.
Those desiring to lose weight are advised to stick with proven weight loss methods; consuming fewer calories and increasing physical activity.

Good Grief! If those are the two choices, I'd rather be overweight than wormy!!!!
0 -
LOL I will keep my plumpness if that is the other option!
Happy saturday everyone
Seriously though I am done with rads and my vacation to see family afterward and now ready to start the "ten before Cristmas" diet plan in earnest.
I was 155 yesterday at the doc's office weigh-in. Aiming for 145.
I am short and my weight had crept up to 167 during chemo. That first ten came off pretty easily when the meds and steroids stopped, but I have been right around this weight for a few months now, will take some exercise.
Salads with diet dressing and workouts here I come.....0 -
Agreed! Read that this morning and thought WTF. Mentioned it during this morning's hair appt. The girls had already heard about it, but on national tv, the Today Show maybe. So this isn't an isolated case of idiocy.
I'm on track for the Christmas challenge. 18 weeks - 9 pounds - I can do it. We can do it! ♥
0 -
Yes, Ladies, we can do it!! And for anyone who reaches that ten pound loss before Christmas, it'll be just as big a challenge to maintain it and go into 2014 still ten poounds lighter than when we started.
0 -
Was down on Weds, up on Thursday and back down on Friday. Think my scale is trying to sabotage me but I will not be deterred! 10 lbs by Christmas or bust.
0 -
Geez, I worked at an ice cream social today & they gave me the job of dishing up the wide variety of CAKES!!! A very bad combination for the diet!!!
0 -
Badger, so funny! My weight is perfect for my age -- which also varies.
I'm thinking of those tequilas with live worms. I might be persuaded with enough tequila.
Patoo, 2 days down and 1 day up means you are still ahead. Keep it up, I mean, down!
Gained 800 grams on vacation despite ramping up the exercise. Now that I'm back I need to just shut my mouth!

On vacation again. Can't find a scale (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)..

Good morning everyone. I'm down a whopping .2! Oh well at least it's not up! Now 173.6. Two more rads to go, then my friends want to take me out for dinner to celebrate, so may be up next week- I deserve to celebrate, don't I?
0 -
Yes, Slv, you definitely deserve to celebrate!
I am down 0.8, not much, but I'll take it. At least it's in the right direction.

Well, I've been so frustrated that I haven't posted in a few weeks. Exercise and eating less and I currently weigh what I weighed when I joined this thread. :-(
I am now ready to face the fact that my insulin resistance is making this a very uphill battle. So I'm hitting the low-carb plan hard and praying it will make a difference. My 25th college reunion is coming up in early October.0 -
Up .5 to 162. Wrong direction! No excuses either.

I have gained 6 pounds since February and am struggling to get it off. I have been using developing Lymphedema as an excuse and it is now time to step up to the plate or should I say push back from the table. Looking for encouragement. At only 5'3" 6 pounds is a whole size and I refuse to buy bigger clothes again......

For those of you needing encouragement or dealing with insulin resistance, check out this blog:
This is just to her home page, but look through her articles, scroll all the way down the list. There are some great ones that deal with specific health issues, and how to adjust our thinking to help with weight loss and control.
I'm getting a lot of great info, help and encouragement from "Georgie."

Well, sorry, that link didn't work and I have to get to work, but maybe you can just type it in.

Up .5 to 131.
Guygirl, I'm 5'2" and can relate about just a little bit being a whole size. I've lost weight, am doing exercise, but am still an "apple" shape. Buddha belly go away!
0 -
Wren, I'm also 5'2". We shorties just don't have much room to over eat. I just got below 130 two weeks ago.

Thought I might give this a try...I am a failed WW lifetime member too and would like to get this belly fat off and back down to 126 or 130. Am currently at 159.5 today. I'm 5' and my old WW goal weight was 126. Maybe even just posting my weight here will help me to be conscious of the food choices I make during the week. I'm menopause and on a chemo that I think as a weight gain as a SE but really, I can't use that as an excuse. I know that this belly fat is not good for fighting this cancer and it has go come off. I'll breath better, be able to tie my shoes better, sleep better, clothes fit better. and I could go on and on...I'm glad I found this board. Thanks so much
Linda

Linda, my old weight watchers goal was 126 also. I was a little over 140 at the start of the year when I was diagnosed, but now I'm hovering between 126-128. Posting here once a week really does help.

hi ladies and welcome Ellen & Linda! Slow & steady with lots of support is the way to go. I'm down .5 so another half-pound closer to goal.
Annie, after you post a URL, put your cursor at the end then hit either the enter key or the space bar. That will make your link hot. http://askgeorgie.com
Heidihill, LOL at varying age. When people ask how old I am, sometimes I'm tempted to add ten years instead of subtract ten years, so they'll think I look really good for my age!
