Trish, huge congratulations. Have you accepted the job? If I were in your position and already said yes, I could not proceed with the other application, unless they offered a million $ salary lol. Then it could become a bidding war.

Trish, was it you who mentioned Acceptance and Commitment Therapy?

When are you NSW and ACT ladies planning to meet?

And Kate, what dates will you be in Brisvegas? Best wishes to your pooch.

emotionally im doing ok at the moment but still stressing out about work heaps. i try to keep my mind busy trying to think of other positive things but it doesnt always work.

    Thanks everyone

I start the new position on Monday for a month's trial - if I like it then it's mine.  Which is very nice of them to give me a chance to try first.  They are putting a temp on for a month to do my job.  Haven't heard anything about the other job at all - I get a bit frustrated with these sorts of jobs - they advertise, but then don't do anything about it for so long as they are "so busy".  Not sure if it is because they are too busy or not really that committed to putting someone on in the first place.  Will see what happens.

Racy - no haven't heard of Acceptance and Commitment therapy.  What I was using was "Mindfulness" which works well for me - you have to train yourself to empty your mind and become calm and then think of positive, calming and happy things - works for me.  There's a cd that you can get from the Cancer Councl.

We should try to set up a "Southern Highlands" get together - but it will depend on when Kylie is finished Rads I think.

And yes - Kate don't forget to tell us when you are going to Brissy - I'll book some flights as early as I can.

    Trish

    xoxo

Hi all.  I'm not in the best frame of mind at the moment as I have found out that one of the young lads who used to be in my cub group many years ago was murdered along with his wife.  I am devistated.......... From my group of twenty four he is the third to be gone........my son, my other leaders son and now Scotty.  I so want to be in Cairns to be with his mum as I know her well and I know the emotions that she is going through.....it's so hard.  I rang her the other day and we had a long tearful conversation about the boys when they were young.

Sorry to bring the mood down but I just needed to share with someone and who better than my pals here.  Thanks all.

    Love n hugs.  Chrissy

Oh Chrissy. I'm so sorry for your loss and especially in such terrible conditions. I don't really know what to say, or what is appropriate given the circumstances, but I feel for you so much. If I was there right now I would give you a long hug and just let you cry. I'm truly sorry. Love Kate xxxxx

Hey Chrissy, that is so sad, what a terrible thing to happen. very sorry to hear that. I used take cubs myself, i took the little ones, Keas, we called them. my first hubby was a cubleader too. i was also a rover scout, adult scout over here, you may have different names, so i know how you can get attatched to the little cubs. But that is very sad. .  Chrissy, your grief is our grief and lots of warm hugs to you, xoxo midnight,

Alyson, you are so right, life is just not fair or even equal at times. Good people die young, and some really horrible people get away scott free with atrocious things. I guess at moments like these its just about cherishing your loved ones and really appreciating the good in people. None of us knows how long we will be around for. I'm sorry you have had bad news to deal with too. Unfair and just not right. xxxx

Brissy ladies, where would be a good central place to meet? Trish and I are going to stay in a motel somewhere, probably both arriving on a Saturday (date to be confirmed). Is there an area (north, south or city) that is convenient to you? Do we want to meet on a Saturday night for dinner and who knows what? or would a Sunday brunch (a long one I would imagine) suit you better. Once we have an idea of what you guys want to do, then we can plan around that.  So looking forward to it xxxx

Chrissy and Alyson, sorry for your losses, wishing you both cyber hugs.

Trish, I hope the job offer has done wonders for your confidence. Go girl!

Only 1 week and 2 days of radio to go. So whenever everyone else wants to get together I am good to go. Trish and anyone else who has to travel should pick dates and places, I am easy as long as I don't have to go on a bus.... x

Kylie, wow, you'd come up to Brisbane??? fantastic. I will get onto my neice this weekend, and if she can't pick a date for her 21st then I'll pick a date regardless and if I miss it, I miss it, but tickets need to be bought (while still affordable etc). I'm leaning towards the weekend of the 8th - 9th December for a reunion. How does this place with you guys??

Oh Aly I'm so sorry to hear that news!  I really do hate motorcycles and it doesn't matter how experienced the rider is or how carefull there are always the unknowns thrown in that end with a death as there is just no protection at all.  ((((((hugs)))))) to you and your DD.

Sorry Kate, I was responding to Racy's question about the NSW and ACT meetup. We had tentatively decided on somewhere in the middle.

I would love to come to Brisbane, but after all of this our finances are not great. At least when I was sick in bed with chemo I didn't spend anything, radio. seems to be a constant expense. x

Oh sorry Kylie, I got the wrong end of the stick. Still I hope you NSW gals get to have a catch up. I hear you on the finances... it's going to be tough on us for me to manage it, but even if I don't eat for a week, I'll make it over East up North somehow.  Hugs to you. You're nearly finished with rads whoo hoo !! xxxx

Oh Gosh Alyson, what a loss that will be to the opera Nz as well. very sad.  my hubby wants to start riding his bike, but i hate bikes and will not be a passenger at any cost.  When he does i will worry till he gets home. Lots of people say its a cool way to get around, but they freak me out.

Chrissy, i hope you will feel better soon with your news, both  you and alyson had tragic news over last couple of days. xxxx

Paul used to ride a big BMW1100. But he got wiped out by a car (who was in the wrong). Would you believe it but I drove past the accident and found him unconscious in the middle of the road with the ambo's working on him. It was an abosolute nightmare. I wouldn't let him have another bike after that. Cars just can't be trusted and often don't 'see' them until it is too late.

So sorry to hear it Chrissy and Alyson. Condolences to their families and friends and of course to you guys. Life can really suck sometimes.

I'll make myself available for whatever you ladies like when you get to Brisbane. I would imagine you could take hotel rooms in the middle of the city if freq flyer points or finances can extend that far as it is central to everyone. I would most likely take a hotel room too so I can have a few drinks(after all it would be for a very special occasion) and not worry about driving. Most visitors to our fair city (if out at night) would end up at the Casino Innocent and we have a few hotels that are not as expensive as the casino within a short distance from there. Offhand the Hilton and one or two at southbank. Also depends on where the wedding is, cause us Brisbanites can always travel a bit, its you guys coming a long way after all.

So sorry to hear of so many young lives lost. Hugs to both Alyson and Chrissie. Assuming I have read in the media about your poor young man and his wife Chrissie - very sad story. Some people are so evil!

I am up for a southern highlands trip! I have my appt with my BS on Monday at lunchtime and should know in the few days after that what the plan will be for timing of my BMX and ooph. Thinking a weekend sooner rather than later would probably be good for our get together.

What about lunch in Mittagong or Bowral?

ladies, just catching up on news while cooking dinner so I'll be quick.

Chrissy, that murder has dominated the news here. It is heartbreaking for everyone. So tragic and unnecessary. I understand your shock and grief.

Alyson, sorry to read that you have also suffered an untimely loss. It reminds us all that life is fleeting and easily lost.

Kylie, funny about the bus and hooray that you are 'in the home straight' lol. Try the XPT between Sydney and Canberra. It's a very pleasant trip.

Let me know when your meetup is and I will check my availability.

I am free for catchup in Brisvegas on 8 or 9 December. Once date is confirmed with Kate, we can discuss details.

I am getting emails from Qantas about sales but need to know dates.

    Must check spaghetti!

Wow there are so many posts here and I only missed a couple of days!  Massage business is picking up and my blog keeps me really busy.

Trish - I looked at your photographic website - beautiful!  Thanks for telling me about it.  Loved the photos.  Got homesick when I saw the gum trees!  Do you and your partner take the photos?  Re the Canberra fog - send some over here, will ya?  Murderously hot and dry here in Colorado. Crops failing.  Re Grand Canyon - let me know if you get over here, you can stay with us!  It's a trip worth taking, believe me.  Congrats on the weight loss and promotion!  Thanks for the film recommendation - I hope it comes here, but I fear we won't see it.  I'll have to go to Perth probably!  Dampier is a beautiful part of the world, itching to get back.

Midnight - Here are some links for you on Cranial Sacral Therapy and Meniere's:

    http://doctorstevenpark.com/tag/menieres

    http://www.brainrenew.com/foundation.html

    http://www.open-source-cranio.com/cases/menieres.html

    Good luck!

Lyndal - Thanks for that link on the 3D Ultrasound machine coming to Perth.  Might be a good reason to move back!  Funny about Sandra Cabot - I read her Liver Cleansing book years ago and followed what she suggested.  Good info.  I felt better afterward although it's not a fun diet.

Kate - I had a Jack-dog too, so I know what you're going through.  He was a beautiful Aussie yellow labrador and when we moved back to Colorado, he clearly didn't know what to make of all the snow.  Not impressed.  Sure hope you find some healing for him...

Chrissy & Alyson - Awful news, so very sorry.  Awful news is afoot in Colorado again too.  Just last night a mass shooting at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie.  Insanity.  Making us look bad again here in Colorado... I honestly don't know why so many tragedies are occurring, there are obviously some very sick minds out there.  The shooter was a neuroscience student, even stranger.  I'm sure you'll all be hearing about it.  Makes me heartsick.  I was involved with the Columbine shootings back in 1999, I provided massage therapy to some of the teachers and victim's advocates, so I know a little of what everyone is going through.  So hard and so inexpressibly sad and tragic.  Anyway - sorry for the downer.  We need some levity here.  Anybody know a good joke?

     Hugs to all today.

Marnie, thoughts are with you and all in Colorado with another terrible shooting. I know it can happen anywhere (ie. Port Arthur) but Colorado does seem to have more than it's share of unstable froot-loops. Who would ever have thought that a fun night at the movies could turn out so badly.

It is a glorious day here after a couple of weeks of gray cold weather. I feel like bursting out of my skin with joy. Funny how a little thing like a sunny warm day makes the soul sing.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. xxx

I'm coming down with another cold grrr.  Seemed to miss out on having one siince dx and now 2 in as many months.  Not impressed.

Apart from the cold though everything going well.  Looking foward to Kate choosing a date for Brissy - told my DH I wanted flights to Brissy in December for my birthday present lol - tax refund should pay for it.

Kylie and Jenn - lunch in Bowral sounds like a good idea!  Let me know when would be good for you Jenn and we'll tee it up - we'll have to make sure Kylie can get there any other way but by bus!

Hope everyone has a great Monday.
