Midnight, I'm so sorry to hear of your ordeal - that must have been terrifying. You poor thing. Sending you ((((hugs))))) and hope you get some sleep soon - and your poor hubby too. He must have been beside himself.
Lolalee - that's ok - we all talk to the wrong person here at times, it can be hard to keep track sometimes. Jenn is from Sydney too.

Have to be there at 7am tomorrow morning.
Found out today that my PS has a waiting list 2yrs+ long for recons. I managed to skip up the list and get him in only 3 months :-0
I gather I probably won't be able to get back on here for a good few days, so please know I love you guys and will be thinking of you all. Hope you are doing OK Kylie...

Yay Jenn - we'll all be thinking of you too. We'll be in the recovery room with you holding your hands and we love you too :-)

Yay Jenn that is great news! We'll all be there holding your hand and watching to make sure you're okay. Take it easy about getting back on here...........there's no prob coz we know where you are........lol.
Wow Midnight! What a night!!! Did they do anything other than give you some stonkingly good pain meds? Sometimes I wonder just where the docs head are........the minute you told him you were on Tamy he should have pricked his ears up. Sure hope you are okay now and I heartily agree with the others re letting your uber doc know what happened.
Having a taste of summer here today..........the temp is up around thirty! Go away summer! I prefer spring to hang around for a lot longer yet.
Have a good day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
no i sat there in those uncomfortable plastic chairs and waited for about 8 hours. they gave me the meds about half hour after i got there and that lowered the intensity, but did not go away. i was actually wondering at 6 whether i would get to c anyone, and the nurse asked me if i would go to my own gp as they were very busy and i would be probably be waiting alot longer and i thought what a waste of time and then at 6.40 i was ushered in and saw the doc about 7.40, but at least i could lay down and shut my eyes. hubby would of been livid if i never got to see anyone after a long wait. he was tired as with sitting with me. but i am glad in one way i was by myself as he may of had a hissy fit and i would of been abit embarssed. and he was the mood to as well. lol
Jenn very glad its all back in schedule and you will have it done and that you know now rather than tomorrow morning. great news.

WOW Midnight! Did you say you are a breast cancer patient when you checked in? You get seen really quickly here if you say that...
Jenn0 -
yes i did, and they went, oh ok. and that was it til i saw doc in the morning. they wrote it down on the sheet. so i dont know. never mind i will have a fantastic sleep tonight, I think Palmerston North Hospital is getting to bussiness like, making money. never mind, that how it went, it was a long night. and when i got out there, i was starving, well more thirsty, i did not take any money for a drink, never thought about it actually, so was dying of thirst as well. went and had Maccas brecky. i was ready for it too. just wanted to get out of there.

I have followed Kates lead and put my name in my user name. Now KylieT instead of katopet.
Sorry to hear about your horrible experience Midnight. I hope you are feeling much better today. It is hard during the night, unless they have an after hours number, but I have contacted my GP and told him to ring emergency, this has made them jump! But I agree with the others, you should have been seen straight away. Hugs to you.
All our love Jenn, we will be thinking of you. xxx

Kylie, yay for no metastasis!
Midnight, sorry to hear of your ordeal. I go to the ER at the same hospital where I had treatment. I don't know if that is an option for you.
Jenn, I will say a prayer for you tomorrow and look out for Tony's message.
Best wishes to everyone else.0 -
(((((((((Midnight)))))))))) - I hope they can find out what caused it - get better soon.
Jenn - all the best for tomorrow
Lolalee - I had lumpectomies on both breasts and rads on both - you can always have an MX if it ever recurs or you get a new primary. I hate surgery of any kind, so rads was an easy choice for me. Really, going through rads would be way easier than major surgery, drains, implants etc.

Thanks suziq60 for your valuable input, I know the 6 weeks of treatment is preferable to the long procedure of implants etc. I guess my concern is long term on my lungs and thyroid as I already have issues with that and do not know of the impact of RX in that area, so hard to know what the right TX for me would be.
Jenn best wishes for tomorrow. Your PS must be very good to have such a waiting list, how great he was able to fit you in so quickly. You will be in good hands, looking forward to hearing from you when you have recovered.

Hope everythng goes great for you Jenn, we'll be thnkng of you and lookng forward to dh's fb updates.
Midnight, I hope your asleep and wake up in the morning feeling much better. Id also lodge a letter of complaint to the hospital just for the heck of it. Least then something is on record about their pathetic way of prioritizing patients. Plus include about how the nurse said after youd waited 6 hours that you should go see your gp as they are busy. I would have been screaming at that time for her callous disregard of your long wait in such pain.
Hi to everyone else. Just finished work and Im knackered so am keeping this short.

Lolalee - I have a very large goitre (5cm) - there was no impact on it. In fact, the rads were no where near it.

Hi All, haven't dropped in for a while but just wanted to wish all well and especially Jenn with her surgery tomorrow. All the best and take it easy...

Wow what a morning it's been here already - with worse to come apparently. We are getting a front that moving quite quickly from the west (thanks Kate and Karen lol). Our power went out at home before I woke up, and DH (who is a very light sleeper) woke me to say the alarm wouldn't work and did I want to go to work.
It was 5.20 so I figured I'd get up. Problem is, when we have no power we have no water (it's via a pump from water tanks) so - no shower this morning. Luckily we always have bottled water in the fridge and a gas cooking top, so at least I could have my morning cuppa lol. But the wind, thunder, lightning and rain is just incredible, and this is only the precurser apparently - the "bad" stuff is still on the way.
I'm at work, so power is on here. The sky outside is that eerie purple that makes it look like the end of the world lol.
I hope everyone else is ok - have sent Jenn a text telling her we are all with her, and I'll be saying a prayer for her this morning too.
Trish

Trisha....sorry for sending the bad weather LOL. Ours wasn't anywhere near as bad as yours sounds
Jenn....by now you will be having a lovely sleep, thinking of you & looking forward to hearing how it all went ((((hugs))))
As I said earlier, I had my BMX & DIEP in May last year, I then I had nipple reconstruction in April this year & today I'm off to get my tattoos!! A bit nervous,,even though it shouldn't hurt due to no feeling since the surgery......but still!
Once I was diagnosed with mets I wasn't going to bother with the tattoos......but then decided that would be like giving up! So, here I go....fingers crossed for a pain free experience
Hoping everyone has a good day.

Hi Suzie, I have PM you regarding the goitre. Ii is comforting to hear that you had no impact from RX. I have annual US and bloods done for multi nodule goitre on both L and R. I am always asking dentists to refrain from taking Xrays due to the goitre. Wasn't sure if RX would have impact, the mapping showed that the rads would go as high as the collar bone and I did ask if they could do a block but RO said not necessary.
Also the under arm area was to be hit, don't know why that would be the case as I do not have nodule involvement that I know of....so of course I worry about the LE. The lungs would be hit by about 12 gy which seems significant to me.
Just wonder if all of this is normal.

Oh Trish, I just checked out your BOM radar, yep you sure are copping it. It looks like we are finally going to get some decent weather from tomorrow. Yesterday was only 12 degrees here. Where Paul works it was 42 so quite a shock to his system (can you imagine what it must be like there in February?).
Oh and congrats on getting the wedding. That's a really big step, and the first of many I'm sure.
I've got to rush out now, so no time to respond specifically to everyone, but seems we are all muddling along OK. Thanks Trish for the text to Jenn, that was sweet and typical of you.
Oh and welcome Lola.

I know its too early but I keep checking fb to see if theres an update on Jenn. Feels like its my real sister laying on the operating table.

Linda I know what you mean. I think it's wonderful we all think of eachother as "real" sisters. No-one else really understands what this is like, exept us, so it's a pretty stong bond.

I think Jenn might still be in surgery - it can go for 10 hours.

Any word on Jenn ???0

Not yet - hope we hear something soon

No news on her wall yet I keep checking.
Trish that storm came through here last night, plenty of thunder and lightening but no rain. The wind today has been horendous! Litterally blowing a gail! I had to take my dog to the council today as they needed to update her chip number and I almost got blown over as we walked there. I think it's blowing so hard it just blows the clouds away as so far there has been no rain.
I'm trying to teach myself to knit lace and it's going okay so far but every now and then something goes way wrong and I find myself having to unpick stitch by stich.........I'm determined that I will get there in the end.....lol.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy
ps. I'll keep an eye out for word from Jenns DH

Just checking in to see how Jenn is again ?? (I'm not friends with anyone from here on Facebook). Hoping no news is good news . . . . . .

Lovely to see everyone so caring & checking on Jenn
When I had mine done last year, it was 10.00 o'clock at night before my husband was letting anyone know how I was (except immediate family of course).
It can take up to 12 hours & by the time she gets through recovery & into her 'heated' room it will probably be quite late
Finger crossed for some news soon....
Chrissy......you must be a very patient lady good luck with the lace knitting...
Hoping everyone is safe in the storms...
