Wanted to change my name to susieq60 but it was in use even though the person only posted once 4 years ago. Tried to get the mods to free it up, but they couldn't. So I then had a flash and changed the second s to a z :)

hey Suzie, Happy Birthday, hope your dinner is wonderful for you, yummy food.

Linda. Have they got the NZ lamb burger over there yet at Maccas? When they do, it is soooo good. Yummy, better than the kiwi burger. we had the australian burger over here a while back and that was yum, hubby liked that. i like this Lamb burger.  i assume you are talking about the mac cheese burger, or  have i got the wrong end  of stick and you talking about something else. lol, well anyways if the lamb burger does get over there, it is seriously yummy.

    Hey my lovely Aussie girls,

Am wondering if one of you would be willing to let my groups on here know how my surgery goes when hubby puts an update on my Facebook wall after my surgery this week?

Apart from letting everyone on this group know I am also hoping to get my status update to these groups:

    1. September 2012 Surgery

    2. DIEP 2012

    3. January 2012 Chemo

Tony (Anthony) should put a message on my wall either Friday night or Saturday morning :-)

Racy, a huge happy birthday to you - you kept that quiet. I wish I was clever enough to put a snazzy pic here of a birthday cake, but best I can do is send you cyber hugs. Have a wonderful dinner. xxx

Hope it is a lovely dinner.

Feeling very cross and sad today. One friend is now sleeping most of the day - she is in the hospice while another is struggling with her fourth lot of chemo, not dose, but fourth round and is pleased that she hasn't lost her hair this time. Then today another was rushed into hospital because the abscesses on her shoulder began to hemorrhage - this is from mets to her shoulder. I hate this disease so much. And I have a scan tomorrow.

Sorry to be a grump but some days it gets at me.

Had a great day with a friend. We drove through to Gordonton, near Hamilton to look at a quilt shop then went on to Te Aroha to try to find where her grandparents were buried. Successful day for all. I got some fabric and she found what she was looking for. It wasalmost 6pm when I got home but it was a good day. I know that next week I will have to help my friend cut out the bag she got.

Hope you all have had a good day.

Have you visited the Quilters Dream shop in Auckland Alyson? It is owned by Wendy who was one of my bridesmaids all those years ago :-)

Sorry to hear all the bad news from your Kiwi friends...

I ve been spending the last few days out in the garden trying to tame the weeds but I think I'm fighting a loosing battle. I will keep at it as you never know I just might overcome those little green blighters.

Good luck with the surgery Jenn - you are very brave.

Racy - I love La Cena in Wilston Village - best calamari around. It's mediteranean cuisine.

Thanks for the birthday wishes - I'm just glad the day is over.

Midnight, we do have a lamb burger here, but I dont know if its nz or aussie meat, it is yummy but really really big and dagnabit, McDonalds dont deliver and I was too stuffed to jump  in the car. Thanks to the malfunctioning sandwich bar I had to be at work at 7.30 today and I have to meet the mechanic back there tomorrow at 7am for him to put in the new outrageously expensive compressor sigh. I really need a holiday Tongue out

I was actually referring to Macoroni and Cheese ala Kraft haha. 12 mins and its pretty yummy and a wonderful fallback when I cant be bothered to make anything more time consuming

I so hope it goes brilliantly for you Jenn. Are there specific arm exercises that you will have to do? Any particular exercises on how to regain muscle tone etc? I havent looked into recon at all and was wondering if they push you to rest or to exercise after one?

Regardless I hope it goes great and that you are very happy with the results.

Suzie so sorry, happy birthday. Racy sorry if I'd prematurely aged you...... or, maybe it is a compliment? anyway that was a bit tardy of me. Can't even use the excuse of chemo brain anymore!

Jenn, I too hope that the surgery goes really well. I'm sure it will. Aly I'm sorry that you've had a sad day dealing with your friends' health issues. Yes BC does really and truly suck!

And Trish (I know you're not supposed to start a sentence with and) I'm dying to hear if you got the gig. I'm sure you will have. It's a real kick in the arm to know you are now ligitimate wedding photographers.

Paul comes home tomorrow and I have to tell him I reversed into a car in the car park. Not much damage to either car but we'll have to use our insurance for it (it wasn't minor enough not to worry about) there was more damage to the other car than to ours but Paul goes crazy over dents and scratches etc and you'd think it was the end of the world. So girls if I should mysteriously disappear never to be seen again .... it was Paul OK? Wink xxx

Sorry about the car Kate :-/

Physio that I was already seeing gave me some back strengthening exercises a few weeks ago to do.

The PS wouldn't give me a re-referral to the physio when I asked - said that his surgery doesn't cause problems... mmmm...

BS gave me the referral saying that if anyone's surgery was going to cause me problems that need physio it would be the PS' with the wide abdominal incision and muscle being cut ;-)

I actually have a physio appt today then I know my physio will likely drop up to the hospital early next week (I am using the hospital physio dept) then see me regularly again from a few weeks later).

Not sure what he will have me doing...

Kate sorry to hear about the car - but these things do happen lol and we'll keep an eye out for you - if you don't check in here we'll be after Paul - no worries.

We won't know about whether we get the booking until we meet with the bride and groom - end of October some time, but I'm fairly confident - she sounded very positive, so a while to keep fingers crossed lol

Jenn - what time is your surgery?

Kate....sorry to hear about the car, tell Paul when he first gets home coz he'll be really happy to see you so prob won't get angry....I can feel the love :)

Aly..so sorry to hear of your friends... & so many of them.....yes, this f#####g disease surely does suck :(

Susie....hope your birthday was special x

Trisha...fingers crossed for the wedding job :)

Jenn...all the best with your surgery. I had BMX with DIEP May last year (12 hours & 15 mins in surgery!) & the first 48 hours in the hot room were the the worst!! Pain wise, not too bad at all. Pretty much pain free in the boob area but the stomach took a bit longer. I think I was on pain killers for about a week & then onto panadol for a few weeks. I had an office job at the time & had 3 weeks off before going back part time....walking straight was still a bit hard & tiredness an issue!! Everyday got better. I used to walk around the house every hour or so, starting with a few minutes & gradually building up before progressing out onto the street!! Anyway, enough about me, I'm sure it will all go well & I will be thinking if you xxx

Thanks Karen, it's good to hear local stories :-)

Yes Trish - I have been told I will likely need to be at the hospital at 6 or 6.30am on Friday. Won't know for sure until I phone on Thursday afternoon.

The surgery is about 10hours I've been told and I think there is a whole lot of marking up they have to do first. Not sure if I get knocked out before then... I do know that my PS got all enthusiastic telling me about incisions and tilting me at different angles and I just zoned out at that point. ;-)

Jenn - I remember (vaguely) when I went in for my mastectomy that I was given something in the "anaethesia suite" (!!) and I don't remember a thing after that until I woke up in recovery.  My BS told me later that I was indeed awake when I went into the op theatre and they had me sitting up and they were marking me - I don't recall any of that - what ever they give you is wonderful stuff, apparently you can converse quite intelligently (lol) with the surgeon and everyone else, but you just don't remember it.  Hopefully they'll give you some of that magic stuff too lol.

You are so right Trisha, happy medicine is so great. I do remember going into theatre because things had changed just before the op from lumptectomy to mastectomy. Had it when I had my port in and cannot remember a thing.

You will be fine Jenn and we will be there with you.

Had better go and get a few things -haha- from the supermarket. Isn't it strange how you go for a couple of things and come out with a whole trolley full?

Jenn...I went in the night before, got marked up & then was given a good dose of sleepers! They woke me at 6.00 am to get me ready & I remember being a teary, nervous wreck before getting wheeled into the theatre & then I was out for the count :)

And yes, thank goodness for the happy drugs......you'll be fine & will love your new figure!!

Oh yea, Chrissy, i got my blood results for my colestreol back today as i have been on stats and there has been a remarkable drop. so that is good.  i used to drink this iced coffee, well i still do, but only 2 litres every three weeks, not every three days. i have not completely stopped, but cut it way back, drink tea now or hot instant coffee, mainly tea, i dont have sugar as i would in coffee.  But that iced coffee was probably not helping my colesteol. so the stats are doing something good i guess, 10mg.

Jenn, be prepared when you wake up that your hands are likely to be very swollen. It's from lying in the one position for so long. When I had my surgery it was nearly 9 hours and I noticed my hands straight away as my fingers were so fat they were sticking out like sausages and I couldn't make a fist. It went down naturally within the next 12-24 hours with natural movement.

Talking about the drugs they give you. I had asked for something to relax me before surgery. My whole family was in my room with me when they gave me this foul little stuff to drink. Ten minutes later, I was knocked out cold - mouth open and drooling. They all had a wonderful time at my expense and even took photos. The buggars!
