Ariom, I forgot about your toe! Hope it does give you some distraction though. We'll all be thinking of you Wednesday, I hope you have a restful night tomorrow night - please don't worry about it too much (I know easy to say) but at least don't worry about being in pain, it really isn't that bad. Sending you lots and lots of (((((hugs)))))
lol @ Midnight, yes - some people are just too much.

Hi all! The girls and I went to see Jersey Boys yesterday and it was F A B U L O U S!!!! It's was the sort of show that as soon as it finished I really wanted it to start all over again. The good thing was thAt my girls enjoyed it just as much as I did.......lol.......no generation gap with that music!
I baked the birthday cake for my GS when I got back to DD's house yesterday so it just needs to be filled and iced. He is a funny boy, he likes me to make his cake and the only years that I missed was the year I had my mastectomy. He's 14 today and still insists I make it for him..........lol.........at least it will be a grown up meal tonight as we are going to a German Restaurant called The Old Mill at Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills. Should be niCe but then I have to drive home as I have an early appointment with my lymph masseuse for a treatment. At least its only a two and a half hour drive and I should be home around elevenish so not too late.
Jenn I sure hope you are feeling better today..
Ariom good luck and please don't stress about the pain side of things as it really is not that bad. The worst is if you catch the drain rather than the actual operation site, there was virtually no pain there for me at all as it was numb due to the nerves being cut. They do give you a pain pump when you come out of theatre so if there is pain it will be well taken care of.
Midnight some people don't know not to look a gift horse in the mouth.......the hide of that bloke!
Have a good day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Well, the lamb roast sure is the meal of the moment.......I'm cooking one tonight...LOL
Oriom....I do hope your toe gets better soon! I remember kicking my baby toe years ago, felt like it was broken & I could't wear a shoe for about 2 weeks! It's still quite tender if I kick it. All the best for Wednesday.....you sound very organized so I'm sure it will all go to plan....:)
Jenn.....I hope you're feeling better.....you sure have been having a rough time lately.
Chrissy......what a lovely 'tradition', baking your GS birthday cake each year....I'm sure you love it! Don't you have a football team of GS's?? Do they all want grandma to bake their birthday cakes?
How are you enjoying your new IPad??
Shingles are clearing but VERY itchy.......it takes a lot of resistance to not scratch til they bleed!! It's day 12 since my chemo (Paclitaxel & Gemzar) & I still have my hair.....there seemed to be quite a bit in the sink yesterday morning but no big clumps falling out....I was told I'd definately lose it so I keep checking!!! When I had TC 2 years ago I lost it on day 11 so I guess was expecting the same this time.....different chemo though. It's awful thinking of it but in a way I want it over & done with......if that makes sense!!
I'm having lunch today with some of the Perth girls on the Aussie BC Forum.......then I'll need to come home for my nana nap afterwards...LOL So best get myself organized.....I'm a bit slow getting it together these days, I blame it on chemo brain!!!
Hope everyone has a great day.
Karen x0 -
Ha! I feel bad about the number of times you guys have had to give me sympathy. These events seem endless...
Good luck Ariom :-)
Karen - glad you are feeling a bit better! Hope you have a good time at the lunch. I haven't met any other BC women/men except you guys. I think the breast care nurse at my centre decided early on that I was too young for her support group, and they run mid week when I'm at work anyway...
Now that I have Thursday this week as my surgery date for my single ooph to get rid of this pesky complex ovarian cyst) I have had to spend the morning changing other appointments. I now have my herceptin tomorrow afternoon instead of Friday, and I have an appointment with the site psychiatrist on Wednesday.
At work today, but taking it easy since I am still not back to 100% after the gastro bug on the weekend.
Oh, and back to feeling really sad today as one of my old school friends (in New Zealand) told me this morning that one of the other "girls" from our group has been diagnosed this year with Her2+ BC like me and is going through the treatments :-(

Please excuse not individually mentioning everyone but without going back with a pen and paper my brain just doesn't do it. Lots of good thoughts to you all. Lamb roasts sound great, it is really cold and raining here today.
I have been feeling more and more nauseous since starting Tamox. Having it at night has made no difference. This is constant full on nauseau. I had a really, really bad time with nauseau during chemo and can't believe it's happening again. I don't want to be taking more meds permanently again. Anyone else have this problem, and does it go away with time?
0 -
Kylie I'm on Femara but had the nausea to begin with but it did settle as my system got used to it. I would suspect that T would do it too ifyouhave a tetchy tum. Hang in there as I'm sure that it will settle over time but talk to your doc about something to calm the stomach for now.
Jenn I'm so sorry to hear about your friend (((((((((hugs))))))))). There are plenty more where they come from so don't worry about using them all up.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Chrissy - I saw Jersey Boys in the West End in London last year - I sing the songs in my head all the time.
The good thing about the lamb roast is the left over meat - much cheaper than beef from the deli

Kylie - The first brand I got (Genox) I had a day about 2 weeks in that I felt spacey, had a headache and felt nauseous. The second brand I got (I'll have to back to find the brand) gave me a headache and mild nausea that lasted over a week and ended up with me sent me off for a brain CT to check for brain mets!
I have gone back to the Genox brand and am filling my script early to make sure I can still get that brand (they had a shortage/had run out of that brand that first time).
Maybe you can try changing brands? PS: The Genox one is the only gluten free one available in Australia if anyone needs gluten free...

Hi All, had my 4th fill today - now have 400 cc's another 250 to go. Think I will take a break from these fills until mid January. Does anyone use an arm compression to prevent problems whilst flying. I don't have lymphodema yet but would like to do everything to avoid!
Any tips on where to buy the compressions please?
Chrissy your baking skills must be 2nd to none, 14 yo are really hard to impress so you must be doing something right!

Just popped in to say goodnight to everyone, and thanks for all the messages. I am off to stay close to the Hospital tomorrow for an early admittance on Wednesday.
Just had dreadful news that Colin's sister's husband in Sydney just passed away with massive heart attack. I am in a fog right now, I don't know how we can work in a funeral at the moment. I thought I had it all pretty well organised, but now this.
0 -
So sorry to hear this Ariom. I pray you and your family can find the strength to get thru the coming days.

Well, party done and I'm finally home after a two and a half hour drive. I'm a bit tired but at least I can sleep in in the morning......lol. The cake was a hit not just with the birthday boy but with all the other guests adult and children alike..........he said the mark out of ten was fourteen so I take that as meaning it ticked all the boxes...........lol..now to get prepared for the influx for Christmas and boy do I have a lot to do!!!!!
Oh Ariom, what dreadful news to receive just before your surgery! My condolences to you and your family. I'm sure they would forgive you not being at the funeral with all that is going on at the moment. ((((((Hugs))))))
The clock has just struck midnight so I think it's time for this pumpkin to be in bed........catch you all in the morning.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Ariom, so sorry about your family's loss. You have a lot to cope with this week. Many hugs and wishing you good thoughts. x

Thank so much for the kind words.
I am feeling a bit weepy this morning, not for me, but for Colin's sister. She will be so alone without him, they adored each other.
I was doing really well, the last week has just flown in and I am totally comfortable with my decision and feel better about the surgery since receiving so much support from all of you. It is just a matter of getting it overwith and moving on.
This was just so much of a shock. I have never known this man to ever be sick in all the years I had known him. He definitely went out the way he would have wished, never a patient, and with all his faculties. He saw his only Daughter marry just weeks ago!
We are about to leave, so I won't be on here till I get home. Don't know when that will be yet, 7.45 admission tomorrow. So I wish everyone well, and thanks again, will let you know how it went when I get back. Cheers to all!

Hi there ladies.
I had a lovely week relaxing in sunny Queensland and am now home and thinking how on earth I can get the Christmas prep done, plus chemo on Thursday. Then i think how lucky I am to have such dilemmas.
My sister has her last radiotherapy tomorrow. She will still have nasty sores on her neck on Christmas Day, and i will probably feel a bit seedy (without the wine unfortunately) but we have agreed to both wear a pair of those silly reindeer antlers on our bald heads for at least part of the day.
I won't list a reply for each one of you, but I do read every post and think about each of you. This is such a wonderful site, and I am so pleased we have this Aussie/Kiwi group. Very special.
All the best everyone

It is a momentous day today. My youngest son's last day of primary school. He is excited to be moving on to High School but it is an emotional occasion as it is a wonderful school. Everyone in the school (it is small) dressed up in something starting with D (which his name starts with) to celebrate with him.
Ariom - hugs and good thoughts for you today.
Angela - holding your hand for Thursday and good thoughts for your sister. It sounds like you are a wonderful support for each other. You made me laugh with the reindeer antlers.
Jenn - good luck with psych today and know that you have lots of cyber support for your op on Thursday.
Trish - how are your teeth going? I hope they have improved. My hubby left for Cooma at 2am this morning and I told him to wave.

Welcome back Angela.....your Xmas reindeers deserve a photo post....:)
Good on you & your sister!
Bugga having chemo the week before Xmas.....I have mine next Thursday.
My hair is coming off today it's been coming out in big clumps & I've decided today is the day.......I know you get over it but it's still quite emotional & confronting! Once it's over & done with I'll be fine.....
I got my Genetic Testing Results yesterday.....Inconclusive (which is as close to negative as you can get!). Doesn't help me at all (except my treatment would have had to change if it was positive) but it is fab news for my 2 daughters & sister. It said due to my age at diagnosis & triple neg status it puts them at a higher risk than normal but at least they can be own top of monitoring & testing etc..
Orion....good luck today (((hugs)))
Jenn.....hope your phsyc appointment is helpful & you're feeling better....& getting some sleep!!
Kylie....your little boy is growing up
And I hope everyone else is doing ok & nearly ready for Xmas....
Karen x0 -
Kazzie, so sorry about your hair loss :-(. I empathise with you.
Jenn, good luck with your surgery tomorrow!:-).0 -
Karen I know its not much consolation, but at least your hair will stop hurting. Its a horrible feeling when its ready to come out isnt it So very happy for your family to have the genetic worry removed.
Angela, lol @ the reindeer antlers. Glad you had a great holiday, best of luck for Thursday.
Good luck Jenn, I'll be thinking of you, but will be working very late tomorrow (midnight trade) so will hope to catch up on how you went when I can get online on Friday.
Ariom, hope everything went well, hope to catch up on you when you can get online again.
Apologies if ive missed anyone. Hope all are well or as well as can be.

Don't have to be at the hospital until 2pm so if I come home it will be very late tomorrow. Otherwise will be coming home Friday.
I'm allowed breakfast tomorrow -yay!!!!
See you on the other side again...
Jenn0 -
Awe Kazz, even though we know the hair will go and accept it, it's still real hard when it happens ((((((((hugs))))))). Good news about your genetic testing and as horrible as it sounds, I'm glad that your girls and your sister will be closely monitored in the future.
Ariom sure hope you are doing okay. Post when you can.
Awe Kylie it's such a milestone for our kids when they go to Hightail School. It seems over night they go from babies to teenagers........it's hard to fathom where the years have gone.
Jenn I sure hope your appointment went well and you are now getting some much needed sleep.
I had some wonderful new tonight, my DD rand to tell me that GS1 got his Sase score today for his year 12 art subjects. ( he has just completed year 11 but did two year12 art subjects).. My boy has achieved a 19.4 / 20 A+ for his design and 18.6 / 20 A for visual arts. His score has him placed in the top 13 out of 850 for the state which according to him is in the top 1.5%. Needless to say I'm extremely proud of him and can't stop grinning..........lol. I do hope all the other year 12 students get the scores they rightly deserve as there is so much pressure put on the kids now............it's so long ago that I can't remember if we had the sort of pressure but I doubt it.
I'm off to Clare in the morning to get an insurance appraisal and quote for some much needed repairs to my car after the little set to on Saturday night. I'm actually a bit peeved as the insurance say that they can't nominate blame because the road markings were not up to par so I have a $400 deductible to meet.......grrrrrr! That's more than double my usual excess..........not happy particularly not right now at Christmas time. Oh well not much I can do about it.
Have a great day all! Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Chrissy is that the GS whose picture you had as an avatar? Fantastic results, you must be very proud.
Hugs to everyone having treatment today. xx

We are in bit of a quandry right now, we have a truck driver who has not turned for work yesterday and today, he has work phone and we cannot get hold of him, hubby has tried him about 20 times yesterday and about 5 times today. cannot get hold of him. the phone is off and their personal phone comes up with nobody allocated to that phone as he tried to call his partner to see where he was, do not know what to do at this stage, after three days it is grounds to sack him for abandonment of his employment. but we would like the phone back as its on a account system with our company. what a bloody pain, i am dam sick of these guys, excuse me having a rant here, we have had problems with this one, but he never failed to show up for work. DH has to do the run he was doing, which means the company we contracted to had to find a temp to do the run hubby was doing. as we dont know whats happenend to him its very hard to know where to go next. i may have to ring labour dept and find out where we go from here. sorry to burden you girls with this, but its very stressful and this time of year.

Midnight, as his employer maybe you have the right to contact the police and advise that this person hasnt been heard of in 2 days, that it is unlike him and could they please attend to his place of residence to ensure that something bad hasnt happened to him.
Its worth calling the police maybe. For all anyone knows he has been robbed and is tied up in his house waiting to be rescued. Can you tell I watch too many real crime shows lol.
Hope it works out for you, this time of year is very stressful for self employed people, i'm with you there.

Hi everyone. I have a funny story to tell. When I was at the gold coast hotel, I got up in the middle of the night to turn the air con up as it was very hot and stuffy, not wanting to wake Jill (and not being able to find the light switches anyway) I thought I'd take the wall control panel into the bathroom to see how to turn it up. Well I pulled and pulled and ended up pulling it off the wall, but it wasn't a remote control one, it was hard wired in! OK, so I then tried to push it back into the wall (wires and all) and it wouldn't stay so it was just dangling. In the morning I kind of got it to look like it was OK and told housekeeping that I thought there was a problem with the airconditioning and she said she'd send someone up to check it out. Well a couple of hours later, Jill and I were going back to our room after a swim and as we were getting out of the lift on our floor, this HUNKY guy in workman clothes with a full tool belt around his waist, got out of an opposite lift and started heading down our corridor. Now, trying to appear all light and innocent about what he was about to discover, I jovially said "Oh, I know where you're going - you're coming to my room" he turned and gave me the cutest smile and the slightest wink (he really was cute) and then kept on walking... past our room and out of sight. He was the window washer! OMG, I felt like an old cougar. !!!!!
I can only imagine he must have had fun at the pub that night telling his mates about these two old birds hopeing to get lucky with him.. thank goodness I didn't see him again, except from the distance as he was hanging 28 storeys up washing the windows.
Chrissy I mailed your photos yesterday so you should get them soon. I worked this week and am now on holidays until beginning of Jan. I haven't done any chrissy shopping so today and tomorrow thats what I'm doing. I have just read that it's going to be 40 in Perth on Tuesday. We are usually 2 or 3 degrees cooler down here. Karen, I think it will be an advantage not to have your hair then.
LOVe to all xx
