Yup, that's the GS that did the picture I used as my avatar for a while and yes I'm so very proud of him..........to get such a good score when he is actually a year behind the rest makes it an absolutely wonderful achievement for him........but his was the only art from that school that was chosen for the Moderators Exhibition and now we know why.

Well got to get this old butt moving as I have to go get my car assessed.......grrrrrr! Not what I need to have to do right now.

Have a great day all! Love n hugs. Chrissy

Kate.....what a funny story, did make me smile...:)

Yes, no hair when it's 40 degrees is definately an advantage but as we're having Xmas day at my sisters & there'll be about 20 people there I'll have to put a wig or scarf on....so not so good in the heat!

And yes Chrissy, you're right, we all know it's coming but it's still hard......when hubby came home last night I said 'cancer lady is back'!!! It kinda makes it more in your face! Oh, well......will make the best of it, have lots of fun wigs & loads of funky scarves!
And well done to your grandson....you should be very proud.....:)

Midnight....I really do feel for you, the dramas of running your own business seem to be endless....I hope this latest one has a good outcome.

    Jenn.....hope all goes well & you're feeling ok.......just think, you'll actually get a good sleep....LOL

    Have a lovely day girls....

thanks Kazzie, yes it has been most of year,  this guy is known to police,we found that out after the interview and after we employed him that he actually was on probation as they came and saw us, well these days without a good reason you cannot dismiss them with out huge dramas even giving false info in interview, we asked him if he had any criminal history and only a speeding tickets, we think, we sure he was the one who stole 400 bucks out of hubbys wallet, but as we were two staff down, had to let it ride and we did not  have proof, you cant  just acuse him. we were told by his probabtion officers to watch our wallets and cards. we thought by him working would keep him off the crime path, dont' know so much now. think we could of stuffed up big time. he is a real charming guy, oblidging, but not always honest in what he tells you. so guess we have learnt the hard way, just hope he is not laying mudered somewhere.  lol Linda, i to watch alot of crime programmes, CSI etc.

Karen - hope you are feeling ok today, it's a shame about the hair - but it is cooler.  I would only wear a hat when I had to - a light one, and if it's family - can't you go au natural?  Surely they wouldn't mind, and you'd be a lot more comfortable.

Jenn  thinking of you - you'll be at the hospital now, hope it all goes well.

Kate - lol - yes, can just picture it.

Chrissy - congrats for your GS, can't tell you are proud.

Ariom - thinking of you too.

Well I had a very intersting morning.  Had my MRI this morning.  It's a baseline one to keep a check on the "good" breast.  I've never had one before, and this is a brand new MRI machine.  I was fine - found the noise not a problem, what with the ear plugs and headphones they put on. I ddin't feel claustraphobic at all and actually dosed off a couple of times.  Then they put the dye, or whatever you call it in, and apparently I'm allergic to it.  I threw up all over their brand new machine.  I felt like an idoit (when I stopped feeling so sick and stopped throwing up), and they said I'm the first one that's done that in over a year (in the old machine). So - I'm now home, and feeling a lot better.

Oh Trish that's just awful! Sorry you had to be the first to christen the MRI but I guess someone has to do it........lol........seriously though not so good that you are allergic to the contrast. It's iodine based so that's why a lot of people have a reaction.

Well the quote for my repairs will be sent to the insurance tomorrow so I guess I now just wait to hear from them when the repairs can be done.. Finally finished all the shopping for Christmas baring what DD is bringing from the market. That just means I now have to find a home for it all and start the cooking. Home made mince pies, caramel slice and plumb pudding icecream just to start.............now I'm rested its time to get going!,

    Love n hugs all! Chrissy

    Hi All!

I haven't read through all the posts since I left, will catch up later.

Well here I am at home. I was released from hospital less than 24  hours after the surgery. I feel fantastic!

Fortunately I was one of the ones that the Sentinal Node tracer was an absolute non event. I can't believe how much fear I had for that procedure, and the gorgeous young man who did it told me that I could call him any name I wanted to, that he wouldn't lie to me, it was going to hurt. He told me what was happening, the swab, the needle, and then when he removed it, I asked when it was going to hurt. He said Moira, you"re done! I didn't feel any pain at all. After the first half hour scan I had to massage it in and then two more ten minute scans and the image was perfect. He held it up and said there it is, that is the node. I was so grateful. Half an hour after that I was in theatre.

I got back to my room at 3.30. Only one stonking big drain, but it isn't putting out much, and my Surgeon says he will call me in a few days, his office is closed for the holidays, to find out how much output there is, and he will meet me, open his office,  to remove it asap.

I don't know when I will get my pathology results, but he is quietly confident that it will just be the DCIS.Low percentage possibility of more, but can't rule it out.

I am so indebted to this man, I guess we all feel that way about our surgeons. I researched this man before I decided to go with him. Great reputation in London, setting up breast clinics, and Head of breast  surgery in Johannesburg for many years. He decided to move to the regional area where he lives now to spend more time with his family. Everyone at the Hospital loves him, and now I do too. He even explaned that he went a little further with the scar because I had a natural "pucker" that he wanted to fix so I had a more smooth finish.

Well I feel like I have been punched hard, but that is about it.

I can't thank you all enough for the support. I know I have a ways to go, but I am over the first big hurdle. They told me at the Hospital that I did really well for almost 60, so I am happy with that.

    Hi all

Chemo was ok today. It will hit on Saturday but usually not too bad.

Kazzie. I am feeling for you today. My hair left about a month ago. It was tough.

We have had a few very hot days here and I have started just going around bald. My husband says that if I am confident, everyone else will get used to it. The eyebrows have helped enormously. I even did my Christmas shopping bald. Got great service.

Sounds like christmas lunch is with your inlaws rather than your own family so it would be harder to relax. I hope you can enjoy it as much as possible. My sister and I are both bald at the moment so we have agreed to wear reindeer antlers for at least part of the day. I will try to post photos! :)

Either way, I hope you can enjoy yourself. People seem to take their lead from us. Most if all, I hope you feel well.

    Cheers

Woohoo Ariom!!!! Well done you! So glad all went well and you are home recuperating.

Angela hope the SE's aren't too bad on Sunday.

Well I e just finished in the kitchen for today........not a bad day overall, got the mince maide for the fruit mince pies and then four dozen of then little pies done! Oh man they are soooo fiddly but the kids and DH love them. Also got the base done for the plum pud icecream so I can get that churned tomorrow and in the freezer. I'm thinking ill do the caramel slice probably on the weekend so that will just leave the salads and meat to be started on Monday. Sometime in between all that I have to get the bottom rooms cleaned and beds made...........gosh! They say there is no rest for the wicked.......man I must be really evil.....hahahaha! Have a good one all?

So glad it has gone well Moira :-)

So I was called back into the op holding area at 3.15pm. Rolled into theatre at about 4pm and woke in post op at maybe 5.15? Felt good so was up and dressed and they let me leave at 6.30pm. Now at home and hubby went and got us pad thai which eased the mild nausea a bit.

3 small incisions from the laproscopic procedure, one of them they just opened a little of my abdo incision. Turns out my cyst wasn't attached to the ovary but slightly to the fallopian tube. They were able to just remove the cyst without removing anything else! Surgeon says that there's pretty much zero chance of it being cancerous, but I'll only be happy when I see the histology report when it comes in.

So very sorry Trish, thats a horrible way to find out your allergic to something. With luck your fast asleep right now and completely back to normal tomorrow.

Hope you dont get too sick Angela, fingers crossed the side effects will be gentle. Also hope your all sorted Karen and not feeling too traumatised. I thought of you ladies today when it felt like it was 45 degrees - would you believe I actually wished for a minute I could go back to being bald lol. Was so very hot today. Still is for that matter and I just got home from work and its 11.30pm. Air cond straight on and the electricity bill can just go hang for now lol.

Yay Jenn - good to hear you are home and ok.

And Ariom! Wow! Go you - well done.  I'm so happy that you found the pre surgery procedure easy - see we told you it was almost a non event, and to get home so early - that's so great!

Angela I hope your se's are very gentle on you, and thinking of you too Karen, hope everything is going ok for you too.

Thanks Linda - I slept like a rock, and am back to normal this morning.

Well I had more bad news yesterday afternoon - my new job has fallen through.  I'm pretty pissed off about it really, I could have applied for a number of jobs over the past couple of months and didn't because this one was "certain".  They (the powers in the USA) have decided not to put any more staff on in Australia over the next 12 months.  Hmmmph ...  I guess if something sounds too good to be true then it usually is.

    Trish

Hi Trish, just got up after the best sleep of my life! I didn't move all night.

I can't believe how well I feel, except that I feel like I have been punched hard. Onward and upward now.

I am so sorry to hear about your job, what a let down, and to think you didn't apply for others because you had this isn the bag. I hope something else, even better comes up for you.

Oh Trish, I am just reading through the posts that I had missed and saw yours about the reaction to the contrast for the MRI. So sorry to hear that. I am an allergic person and have had some nasty reactions in the past, even anaphalaxis for sulpha drugs. I just hate trying anything new, and my fear of chemo is terrifying. So all my fingers and toes are crossed that that is not on the horizon for me.

For the others here who have gone, and are, indeed, going down that chemo road I am in awe of you. You are inspirational women, and I am so glad to have read your feelings here.

Trish, I hope you are feeling better today after that experience.

To everyone else, I wish you all the best for you and yours for Christmas. I am so looking forward to seeing my Daughter for 10 days. She arrives on Saturday.

Trish, that really sucks about the job. I'd be P.O too!  So sorry, but I'm sure things will work out in the end even better for you and you'll be pleased (on reflection) that things worked out the way they did. Hard to see that now though. xxxxxxx

Trisha.....that sucks about your job! I hope it all works out for the best in the end.

Jenn & Ariom......you go girls! What a pair of troopers! Glad you're both home & feeling well & chirpy....

Chrissy.....I want to come to your house for Xmas! You're one busy lady these days.....I'm sure your family thoroughly appreciate you & your big efforts xxx

Angela.....I hope your SE's aren't too bad & you're able to enjoy Xmas day.

I'm lucky enough that Xmas week is my 'good' week & I have my chemo on the 27th.

It is my family we are having xmas lunch with, not in laws, but my sister has a step family so it's not really just family... Unfortunately, I'm not as brave as you.......I'm not comfortable going 'topless' except at home in front of hubby & kids. I run for the scarf if anyone knocks on the door....LOL

Lyndal....no, not feeling too traumatized...LOL. As of all you know you get used to it & there are worse things than losing your hair!

I hope everyone is just about done with the Xmas shopping & cooking.......& have a great weekend.

Trish, what a pain about the job, man, am sory to hear that, nothing is for certain these days, promises dont mean a thing either, i think they made to be broken.  you deserve better anyway and as the girls say there is something alot better for you, where one door closes, another one opens and its bigger and wider with lots of oportunities. hope you feeling better today.  i have two goats at my my place today, i want them to eat the over  growth and they getting  their  hoofs, nails or what ever you call their kind of feet done and old trevor has the  dog bailed up in kennel and everytime she tries to get out , he bunts her kennel and she ducks back in quick. lol, its usually her doing the intimidating, the boots on other foot lol, she is a big coward when faced with an enermy. old trevor got her well organised lol.

Oh Trish......bugger!!!!! What a pain and so disappointing for you! I think they could have let you know a bit sooner particularly considering they chased you.........really bad form on their part.

Ariom and Jenn so glad you are recovering well.

Angela and Karen hoping the SE's aren't too bad for you and you will be able to enjoy Christmas. Karen everyone is welcome at my house at Christmas, it's open house that's why I make plenty of food so I can cover whom ever decides to drop in.

Kate I probably won't get the pics till after Christmas as the mail really gets backed up but no probs an extra day or three wont make any difference.

Well got to go churn this icecream and get it into the freezer and out of the fridge as there is way more to go in there........lol. Thank goodness I have two freezers and a very large fridge!

    Have a good day all!
