Hi Karen, sorry to hear that you are suffering from painful shingles!  Just doesn't seem to stop, one painful episode after another - shitty process.  Hope you manage to get some relief from this crap!

    Hugs Lola.

Sorry about the shingles Karen :-( And the WCC :-/ Hope you feel better soon.

Got word this afternoon that my single ooph surgery will be next Thursday. Surgeon will book me for overnit but said I can go home Thursday if I feel well enough. It's going to be a painful Christmas, but am thankful that this can be done and if it's still in this year we are already over our hospital excess etc so it's cheaper.

Oh Karen, I'm so sorry you have to deal with all this extra crap on top of chemo, as if chemo and stage IV isn't enough. Thinking of you and sending you warm and gentle ((((hugs)))

DH had shingles some years ago and it was bad for him and he was pretty healthy at the time, so for you it would be a nightmare. We didn't realise that it could affect me as I haven't had chicken pox, so I had to sleep in a different bed for a couple of weeks.

Jenn, with getting the ooph does that mean you can go off tami and go onto an AI?

Chrissy yay for the new iPad, you'll love it, I couldn't be without mine. Typing this on it now!

Hey Trish "who desn't have colon cancer" (happy dance) :-)

There is nothing wrong with the left ovary or my uterus so I have asked for only the right (my right) ovary to be removed. It is a mystery to me how this will affect my estrogen levels and menopause status but my oncologist says that I will be able to remain on Tamoxifen. I will be making sure the consent form I sign before the surgery is only for the one ovary! If there are any further "problems" they find they will just have to finish up and tell me about them later...

I have no idea what my menopause status is currently anyway. I had regular heavy periods right up until the one after my 2nd round of FEC back in February. Since then - nothing. I have not had a single hot flush that I've ever. noticed, not even after I started Tamoxifen. My oncologist has not shared her opinion and has not done any hormone level tests.

    I don't "feel" menopausal I don't think, but what do I know?

woo hoo Chrissy, that'll be fun, having been thinking about getting me one of those, i am not very techincal tho, are they complicated to use and the other thing can u use them in a vehicle with out been hooked up to anything. why i ask is, whn BIL goes away he can take  that with him instead of annoying me for directions and i cant read a map to save myself, he could do that himself, does it have gps and stuff like that, like maps. maybe worth looking into.

Jenn, hope yr up coming surgery is a success.

Karen, hope you ok and feeling abit better today.

Gosh girls, isnt it terible about that school in the states, all those kiddies and teachers killed. gosh, why kill those kids. what have they done to him or them. if you feel that bad, kill yr self. my heart breaks for them.  one of those,my mother has more time for those kids than me. as he killed his teacher mother and probably the dad too as they found a body at the house. wow the mind just boggles at these mongrels.  he would not last in prison,so  just as well he is dead. Those poor families. anyway without getting too depressed, i will leave that as i will end up depressed. have a good day girls.

Midnight an iPad can definitely travel! Small, light and very portable and even has a maps app so you can get directions very easily!

Trish I have a question re hooking an external hard drive to the iPad......... 1 can it be done using the cord that comes with the iPad and 2 if you can is it possible to watch stored movies from that external hard drive ? I'm hoping that its possible as I have a terabyte of external memory that contains about 100 movies and series that I have yet to see and I thought it would be great if I'm away to have something that I want to watch to keep me entertained............ I guess I could just hook it up and see but I don't want to put something onto it if it will damage it.......can't be doing that....oh no!......lol......gots to have a toy or two to play with............lol.

Gotta run goils as I have to get organised to attend my grand nieces first birthday! OMG! I ant believe she is one already!

Hi girls....feeling a lot better today :) apparently the rash looks better....I can't see it very well as it starts round the back of my neck & I can only see a bit at the side/front. i'm sure the anti virals must be kicking in by now though. I still want to scratch them to death!!!

Trisha....fortunately everyone in my family has had chickenpox so i don't have to 'hibernate'.... It's amazing how many people have come forward & said they or their partner has had shingles......I didn't realize it was so common. I apparently picked it up due to low immunity.

I'm at day 10 of my first cycle so gotta watch the temperature & i keep checking my hair to see if it looks likes falling yet :( so far nothing but if I remember correctly it happens all of a sudden.....mine started to fallout on day 12 last time but different chemo this time so who knows....

Chrissy....you enjoy that fab new IPad ....:) the only problem with them (which I find very frustrating at times) is that most things you want to do I.e. your movies, you have to purchase more Apple products for it to be compatible!!! I love mine & use it all the time & take it everywhere with me but my son refuses to buy one because of the whole Apple thing.....& you can't upload certain programs......I think Adobe might be one of them (could be wrong though, got chemo brain!!) I just know there are certain websites I can't go on coz it's not compatible. But hey, don't let that put you off, I LOVE mine & as my sister says, they are idiot proof...LOL

Welcome back Angela....hope you had a nice relaxing holiday. How are you feeling?

Glorious weather over here in sunny Perth so I intend to enjoy it before it gets too hot.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend...

Jenn...I had one ovary removed when I had just turned 50 and went into immediate menopause...not one period after and was regular before (though had heavy bleeding). The hot flushes started straight away too.

Hope it all goes well..I know its a simple op (for the Dr.) but we all hate hospitals don't we?

I have done virtually nothing about Christmas...just can't get into it at all. My youngest son is going to America on the 8th Jan...hasn't booked..hasn't enough money  (to my way of thinking)...he's not worried at all.

Hope your shingles continue to ease up Kazzie...horrible things!

Your catch up in Brissy sounds fantastic girls.

Sigh one week ago this morning I was waking up at our apartment, had a leisurely breakfast with Trish (sleepyhead Kate was almost comotose) and then we had the Kookaburra Queen River Cruise. Followed by a brief visit to the Treasury Casino, then we ordered in Chinese and Chrissy came over and we chatted till late. (no proof exists I had a couple of glasses of wine haha)

This morning I had to be up at 5, at work at 6 and just finished now (4.30pm). Guess which weekend I preferred Tongue Out

Linda, I wish it was last weekend again too, not that I had a bad day today (I had a great one) but I miss you guys, and I had a great time with you :-)

Karen so glad you are feeling a bit better more ((((hugs)))) for you to make you feel even more "betterer" lol

Kylie so good to hear from you xoxo

Jenn, I had part of both ovaries removed when I had a hysterectomy 27 years ago, but didn't start going through menopause till about 7 years later. Different situation to yours though, guess you can't compare.

Chrissy I don't know the answer to your question - it's not something I have tried to do. Google should have an answer I think.

Well we just watched 'Battleship' and it was a bit corny and cheesy, but on our big screen with surround sound it was spectacular we enjoyed it immensely

Time for bed, sleep well everyone

    Hi all,

Just coming back to the land of the living. I don't know if it was food poisonong or a virus, but I was throwing up hourly from midnight to 5.30am this morning. Had the big D as well :-/ I just dragged the doona and my pillows to right outside the bathroom door and snoozed there between sessions. Our floor is hard and the doona is not very thick...

I have felt emotionally much better since crying with the phsychologist last week. She messaged me on Friday to say she will contCt me Monday about trying to get an appt with the psychiatrist.

Oh Jenn, I am sorry to hear what a bad run you're having. It has to get better soon!I wish you all the very best for your op on Friday.

Sorry to hear about the Shingles Karen, but you were on to them fast so hopefully it will be  short lived. There are a lot of people suffering with this at the moment, you are the fourth I have heard of recently.

I was getting my stuff all ready yesterday for Hospital when the phone rang. I started running and caught my toe on the edge of the door. I am sure it is broken, it's black and not in the position it should be! I have taped it to the next one, and that has helped. Sleeping was an issue for me last night because it was so damned painful.

I have been walking every day to help keep myself well, but because of the toe I could only manage the block today. Our weather is blustery and wet, muggy, but cool too. There aren't many boats out today either.

I went to the Farmers Market yesterday and bought heaps of organic fruit, so I'll get stuck into that and do some reading.

    Take care everyone!

Isn't it amazing how much a little toe can hurt. What made it worse was it was a bloody telemarketer, not even someone I wanted to talk to.

Well herd i am back at brissy airport waiting to board soon. Was it really a whole 9 days ago that trisha and lyndal were there waiting for me? Its been a great trip and i assure you the highlight for me was being here in bris with my bosum buddies. The rest of my time has been quite a contrast. It was of course wonderful to spend time with my sister but also a strain as they are in very poor financial health and so power was cut off and a couple of other immediate concerns needed to be addressed and rectified. So an eye opening time for me. My neice whose 21st it is is 7 weeks pregnant and not very well so party was really a non event.

I feel for your broken toe Ariom and Kazzie feeling unwell. Did they say for certain you will loose your hair? Gotto board now....so long Qld.... its been great xxxxxx

Oh Jenn I really feel for you! On the Sunday morning after our get together I woke up feeling ikk with the dreaded D. It lasted all that day and I really felt ill but my niece was wonderful and took care to make sure the boys let me rest so come the following morning I felt fine. I thought it may have been something I ate but I really couldn't think of anything out of the ordinary. Here's hoping its just a twenty four hour thing for you and nothing else. (((((((((( hugs)))))))))

Karen here's hoping you feel better soon. ((((((((( hugs))))))))

Awe Karen, I had hoped for you that things would have been better for your visit with your sister. At least you have spent time together and that is a good thing.

Well, I'm still at my DD's and she is about to play Avatar so I will say bye for now and enjoy it with her..

Hoping you all have a great day tomorrow.....

Suzie you are in good company, we had roast lamb for lunch today as well, mind you probably not as hot in Sydney, not much left for lunches however 3 guys all 6' 4" with hollow limbs..lol.

    Thanks Lolalee!

It is much better today, but it still can't take a shoe!

Reminds me of my ex husband who, when he was a child was terrified of needles. He used to get his Dad to stand on his foot to distract him while the Doctor gave him the shot. I am wondering if this was sent to get me throught the Sentinal Node tracer on Wednesday! LOL

Well ladies, I am as prepared as I will ever be for Wednesday. I have the bag packed and the Motel booked for tomorrow night. I don't know how I will fare on my own tomorrow night, but I think it is the best way for us. It takes an hour to get Colin up (he's in a wheelchair) and then it is over an hour drive to the Hospital, so I just don't think we need that kind of stress first thing in the morning to get to the Hospital. Colin drives, so he can drive down and visit later.  We will drive down together tomorrow, drop the dog at the kennel on the way, check me in and then go for lunch together and do some shopping.

I have organised a massage for this morning, and a cleaner to come in a deep clean the house. My arthritis has kicked in because of the stress, and because I have had to stop taking my supplements before the op,  so I don't want to push it by doing all the floors etc.

I hope I can get out fairly quickly, but I won't push it. My Daughter is arriving on saturday to stay for ten days which will be fabulous.

I'll get back on tonight to see how everyone is doing, and then it is just another sleep and I'll be off.

Thanks again everyone for the support, I have really appreciated your input and your kindness. Hopefully I will be able to make someone else's journey a little less scary after this too.

morning girls. lol this is quite laughable really. on the lamb thing. we got 17 killed, well actually we sent 15 rams, big boys to be killed and they were horned and the guy killing them had a mate qho wanted horned rams as studs and he would trade us with hogget rams and we were supposed to graze them and send them to works, well dont know what happened, but we got 17 and they killed them all, so we had to find somewhere for them to go, the food banks got 8 and our truuck drivers got two each. we usually take them out to a dinner and their partners, but this year decided not to. one driver that has been with us for abit, says to hubby this morning, seems its  just him and the other driver and as we are not going out this year, a cooked ham would be nice instead, lol. after giving them two sheep for the freezer. its like the sheep were owed to him and the ham is the replacement for us not taking them out to dinner. cheek really. his expectations are over the top. he was lucky to get one  flaming sheep. i said  to hubby, you have to laugh as you see where his mentality is. well hubby said, you not bloody getting one. cost nearly 800 to get those sheep done. takes all types i guess. hope everybody is well today or at least not feeling too badly, hope that toe did not keep you awake Oriam and jenn hope you  feeling better.
