Liv the ringlets lasted a couple of months, but were gradually cut off lol. My curls are exactly the same as they were pre chemo now. But yes, I am pleased with the softer hair. Thinner hair is a little harder to deal with though, although I used to have to get it thinned every time I had a haircut (every 6 weeks or so) and don't have to have that now, it's sad to see the thin patches where you can see my scalp, although my hair can be styled to cover that. I think the thinness is from the AI I'm on (Aromasin) and if I ever get off that my hair will thicken up again. I found that it really started to grow a lot once I finished Herceptin too.

Great to see some pictures!
I am interested in mediation as a way to relax so if anyone has any tips then please let me know.
Cheers0 -
Hi Tammy, I have been into Meditation for years and find it helpful for lots of things. I initially did a short course to learn how to do it.
There are many different types that you can do. I would suggest you either get a book or a guided Meditation tape from a bookstore or online.
One of the easiest ways to clear the mind and start the Meditation is to lie down or sit in a chair with feet planted on the floor. Turn off the phone, you don't wantto get a fright when you are super relaxed.
Start at the toes and relax, feet, ankles, calves, thighs all the way up to the top of your head. When thoughts come in, just let them go, don't think about anything. Take nice cleansing breaths as you work your way up your body.
When you get to the top of your head, imagine a funnel opening and a golden light coming down and entering your body throught the top of your head and washing through your whole body. Keep the cleansing breaths going. Imagine the funnel closing, slowly open your eyes and stretch.
Work your way up to 20 minutes and you'll feel really refreshed and less stressed.
Imagine

Lia - I just noticed your post about sore mouth so I thought I would share with you what worked for me. I used glutamine - it's an amino acid available from most chemists or vitamin shops. Glutamine helps to protect the body's mucosa and helps to prevent mouth ulcers. I remember still getting exactly one but it healed quickly. You can also combine it with vitamin E to reduce mouth soreness. Take 1000-4000 mg/day (find out which dose works for you personally) of glutamine, and 800-1600 iu/day of vitamin E.
Tammy - I was happy to see you are interested in meditation, you are on the right track. It helped me so much get through all of the anxiety surrounding treatments and scans (and *life* in general!). I continue to meditate to this day and it is so amazing on so many levels. I have a free download available on my website - a guided meditation - if my American accent annoys you, ask me for the words of this particular meditation and I will send them to you and you can record it in your own voice. I did this meditation frequently (and still do) and always feel amazing afterward. (I'm on this thread because I went through BC whilst living in Perth, so I have a special affinity for Australia, in fact my husband is working in Perth for 4 months right now to escape our winter!) Here's the link to my page where you can download the meditation:

Hope this helps!

Hello ladies, i donot know if i am mistaken, but i also think i r ead melborne has some fire issues, they werte getting engines to where they were. Poor Tazzy people, totally destroys so many lives, are they heat started by weather or arson as i remember those other bad fires few years back was deliberate, in queenland? am i right there.only takes one spark. gosh. hope you all keeping kool, its hot outside, but kool and we do have a nice breeze. We have the dicipline meeting for our awol staff member tonight. he rang up this morning wanting to know whether the meeting will be before work or when he is finished for the day, does not grasp then fact that he may no longer be working for us and that not turning up for work 3 days in a row without contact is classed as abandament of employment. hope he does not seek revenge and come and murder us. he knows where we live lol. would not be the first person to do that, he has been in the prison system. i have a dog out the back and a dog on the front door, security guards. i watch too much crime programmes and csi, my mind getting over board. Seriously i do not trust him. we will just wait and see. have a good day.

Wow Midnight. I have been following the details of this worker of yours and what he did to you. Can't understand how he just didn't "get it". He seems oblivious to his actions, and to the cost to you.
You take care, I hope he isn't dangerous.

Ariom, hubby said, we might move Holly, the rotty lab cross dog, up to front gate, you cant sneak in with her around. That worker did alot of norty things, like falsely signed documents from the bussiness he delivers to and never delivered them, he stored them and we covered that up as at the time we were staff down, they got delivered the next day, but he committed fraud that day and apparently caught around the back of one of the businesses we deliver to going thru stuff and was caught and Hubby was told about that like two weeks after when he was delivering down there over the busy period for this coot, who never turned up. and the lies, lies like a flat fish, i do hope they dont weaken and give him another chance, he will take the bussiness down if they do, i told hubby to be strong and dont give into sob stories. who knows. he is a little worried about revenge as he said, he was quite snarky..

Midnight,
All the best with that, he sounds like a real piece of work.
You're good people to have given him the opportunity, but he can't see it. I hope you can offload him with no repurcussions.

Hi ladies......well, I haven't checked in for a couple of days, seems everyone has been quite busy!
Lia & Tammy.....welcome to the club no one wants to belong to, however, as has already been said, a great bunch of ladies & you can bet that someone will have an answer to your questions
Chrissy......I hope you're coping & feeling ok (((hugs)))
Still very warm over here in the west......the humidity has now kicked in - YUK....unless of course you're Liv & love it
Suzie.....love the pics, your hair looks fab & yes, you do look 10 years younger
I've seen that pic of the 4 of you before & never realized it was you on the end......not sure who I thought it was....LOL
I'm feeling ok this week, got loads of sleep on the weekend......must have needed it! It's my week off chemo....yay, I'm a free woman!

Ok.....thought I was pretty clever putting a profile pic up but does anyone know why it's sideways??!!
Karen x0 -
Don't know how to fix it but I love it!
Maybe you should keep it that way:)
Cheers
Angela0 -
Karen, it turns sideways if the picture is too tall. Edit the picture to be more square and try uploading it again...
Off for my bone and CT scan tomorrow. Have not been able to get the "what ifs" out of my brain for one minute over the past couple of days... Thank goodness I have a psych onc appt right after I finish those tests tomorrow!
Jenn0 -
Good Luck for tomorrow Jenn.
Hope you get a good nights' sleep.

Thanks Ariom :-)
Not even sure if I will get the scans and reports to take with me. Sometimes my onc has me collect them and sometimes they go straight to her electronically. I can never tell which way it is going to go from one appt to the next. When I had my brain CT a couple of months ago it went straight to her.
I have an appt with my onc on Thursday...
And, OF COURSE the past couple of days I have had a pain in my ribs and a sore hip :-/
I hate breast cancer!
Jenn0 -
Jenn hope all goes well for you tomorrow, Keep positive, i am sure you will come out of there with flying colours and yr scans will be fine, am sending lots of hugs yr way. Take care. i know cancer can make you feel nervous with every ache you get, i had aching left leg the other night, i straight thought, gosh hope i have not bone mets. i think the tamoxifen that does it with me, i would like to find another pill and will be asking that with my onc 23rd of this month, Dam Breast care nurse wont return my calls. so will go straight to the source. have a good night ladies.

Hugs for tomorrow Jenn. Waiting for scan results is stressful. Hubby went in for his CT scan today (no results yet) and I picked up my xrays from last week. It was good to see results in writing though.
Midnight I really hope everything is okay for you. This guy sounds like a real piece of work. Take care.
Thanks Sue for info. I will def. look into it.

Hoping all those threatened by fire are safe.
Had my six month visit with my doc today and again he doesn't want to see me for another six months........yay! He did admit, finally, that I have lymphadema......what the?! I've known that for years!......sometimes I think he's a little slow on the uptake.
Finally home after another H O T day.............come on winter! Can't wait!
Take care all!!!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Will be thinking of all of you facing challenges over the next few days. Stay safe and positive. Fingers crossed by the end of the week everyone can breathe a sigh of relief.

Tammy - so glad you liked the meditation download. It was fun putting it together and I still use that one almost daily. Makes me feel great. I'd be interested to know how it makes you feel.
Jenn & Kylie and everyone else in bush fire zones - feeling for you. Hope you can stay safe - that's the one thing about Oz I do not miss, however, having said that, last summer was the worst in Colorado history for bush fires too. Our planet is changing... Thinking good thoughts for all and envisioning you all surrounding by a protective bubble. We can all do that - or pray - both are pretty effective.
Sending hugs from Up Over.

Jenn thinking of you today - hope everything goes well (((hugs))))
Karen and Ariom - I agree you both look absolutely gorgeous! Nice to put a face to a name :-)
Marnie - enjoy your cooler weather over there - yes we are all melting here in Oz today.
Chrissy - good to hear from you, and hoping it isn't too hot where you are today.
Kylie and Jenn, we are also worried about today. We are in the middle of bushland, although there's not a lot of scrub around us, about a thousand or so of the acres that surround us is primarily African Lovegrass which is very high due to the wet conditions over the last year, and has now dried out. Lovegrass burns at least 15 degrees hotter than normal scrub apparently. Our paddocks are mown, so the grass around the house is not too bad. Also about 2kms away is Namadgi National Park - very dense scrub and bush that wasn't burnt out in the 2003 Canberra fires - it came close, but a wind change saved us. That bushland is now tinder dry and very loaded with lots of undergrowth. So DH is keeping a close watch on everything today.
