Congratulations Chrissy! for the six month check, but sorry to hear about the LE. How can that be that it wasn't picked up by Medicos in all that time?

Thinking of everyone with the stress of fires at the moment. Take care, hoping for cooler weather and low winds.

Trish, I was thinking you would probably be worried, fingers crossed they have been so pro-active things will be ok. I am ducking in here from the interactive rural fire service site. So far all fires are under control.

    Jenn, good luck today.

I hope the heat doesn't affect anyone too badly. Hugs and safe wishes to all. x

Good morning girls. gosh what a worry, those fires. hope you all will be ok.  my family are praying for a protection around you all and all yr properties.  The meeting did not go ahead last night with thia guy, rescheduled, due to one of the trucks breaking down. all fixed now, oil leak, its an old truck, time it was retired, but cant really afford to get another at present. still does the job, just has a bad hair day at times. she need a major over haul, but i think they will retire her and spend the money on a new one, not brand new, they about a hundred grand and i would not want to see our drivers  driving one that expensive, bad enough now with knocking the ones they got around. anyway away from all that, hope you will be ok. blowing a gale here, i dont know whether you girls who are kiwis know much of the manawatu,  gets extremely windy, you can hardly stand up at times, abit like windy wellington. well its one of those today, would not be good for  you girls at the moment with the fire risk. Good luck Jenn  for yr scan and kylie with the test results for hubby.

                                          STAY SAFE GIRLS

Jenn - best of luck with the scans. I'm sure, with all the prayers, wishes and {{hugs}} coming your way they'll have to be good.

I do hope they can give you results at the time.  I hate it - getting tested,  they know the results but won't tell you, and then having to wait for them to send them to the dr and wait for an appointment.

Best wishes to all those facing the possibility of fire as well.  Here in Perth city, it gets very hot but there's not much to burn (except Kings Park).  Our home (in Lake Cathie NSW), backs onto a reserve which is a wetland and full of reeds and bush.  When it dries, it's a tinder box.  But being on the coast reduces the risk enormously.

I am off to see the oncologist in Adelaide today. It will be a 2 hour trip each way. Hoping that the tumor markers have gone down this time as they have been going up steadily since May. I will be requesting scans anyway.

My thoughts will be with everyone in NSW, VIC and Tasmania. Hope everyone will keep safe today. It is dreadful how many fires are out of control at the moment.

Done the CT scan and now sitting in a coffee shop having a bagel and coffee before the bone scan appt at 10.30am. They said I can drop back and get the CT scan films and report in 2 hours - so I will know today if anything has shown up....

The heat is just starting to build but it's still pleasant enough for me to be sitting outside in a breeze at this cafe :-)

Today is supposed to be a bit cooler, just 32 which is a lot better than the 42 of yesterday. My poor air conditioner has not been turned off for days..........I know I'm not going to like my electricity bill this time round but there is no way I would survive without it going..........I don't cope with heat at all.

Hoping the days pass without fire and loss of property for all........that's another reason I don't like summer.

Jenn you are in my thoughts...b..hoping the scans go well for you.

Ariom I love your pic! Is that your hair or one of your wigs........love the colour!

Well I have some things to sort through that belonged to my mum and need to be divided between my girls and I've put it off long enough.......sigh........getting it done will be a good thing.

Love n hugs to all. Chrissy

    Hi Chrissy,

No that is me au-naturel, I haven't had chemo so no hair loss for me. Just went grey very young, so it has had plenty of time to get really white. I have just been for a haircut this morning. I was lucky to find a hairdresser in the town where I live that can do it as I like it. She cut it for me before the surgery, and it was so easy to look after. I went a little shorter today because it has been so hot. We have a lovely cool breeze off the lake at the moment so I have all the sliding doors open to air out the house.

So sorry that you are having to start the sorting out process of your Mother's things. I remember doing it with my daughter, and some was very difficult, but we also had lots of laughs as we remembered things that were connected to the items. It can be cathartic, but you will still be fragile from the loss, so take care.

CT scan report shows no signs of metastatic disease. Radiologist did see a "lesion" in the right breast (cancer side) but states that it looks like fat necrosis.

Now waiting for my bone scan at 1pm then the psych onc at 3pm.

With such good news why am I sitting here shaking? Because the first word that leapt out at me on the report was "lesion" - stupid word!

Doing the "Happy Dance" for you Jenn!

What sensational news, and yes, a crappy word.

Jenn take a huge breath and let it out slowly.......those results are fantastic!!!!!! Try to forget the 'L' word and remember the CT results. Happy dancing for you!

Ariom you hair is such a lovely colour.......mine is like my mums so I'm still nearly all mousy brown with a few greys thrown in. She was 86 when she passed and still not entirely grey. Both my sisters, one older and one younger are both as grey as and they hate that I have so very few.......lol. The major part of mums cleans out is already done as we had to clear her room at the nursing home within twenty four hours of her death.......the things I have to sort are the things that were given to pass on to my girls as well as the children of my deceased brother. Still not a good job but it has to be done.

You look great with that style Karen :-)

I'm bone scanned and waiting for them to tell me if they need to do any more scans. Said they are comparing this scan with the one from a year ago. Made it sound like there was something to compare - feeling very nervous sitting here...

Jenn, that is very good news, am sure the bone scan will follow with equally good results.

Chrissy, yes  that will be a task, but as you say good when done, at least you can probably sit down and relax when doing it. Was yr mum active, i know you said, this has been expected, but was she active,  I worked in rest homes from the age of 15 til i was 45, married and came here and now help to run a truck bussiness, tho i think we run a kindergarten at times. We got married in the church and had our reception at rest home i had worked for 12 years, it was an afternoon tea. my first wedding, i had my photos done there and half of the abled residents came to my wedding, about 20 of them, my second  wedding we just had the reception there with them.  a talked about event for many months  after apprently. the oldies made the decorations and were very involved in the whole process and man they thought they were just in the 7th heaven, all so excited.  happy memories to look upon for my life. had my hens night with them too and they dressed me in loo paper and put me in a wheel chair. some of the old men came to that too, was also a farewell do for me. so i was working with the elderly for many years and love them to bits.

I am Nackered today, i have 5 birds in my house and three of them talk,  indian ring necks, cockateil and a budgie. the old ring neck is having a good old talk at the moment. but he is telling everybody to shut up lol, used to us talking to the dog when she is barking. sometimes you hear, shut up Holly. its funny, sorry.  have a good rest of day.

Hi all. Have been reading all news etc but not sure if I said that I have been so busy helping DD get her doctoral thesis proofed and submitted - handed in yesterday. DD2 did the editing/proofing (she has PHD in English Lit) and I did the bibliography checking all sources and citations. What a job. Today DD1 and I took DGD and DGS to the zoo so DD2 can get an article ready for publication.

It was so crowded that it wasn't really pleasant especially as we a getting the wind that is causing problems on the other side of the Tasman.

Do hope everyone is doing well.

    Big hugs to all.

OK did the bone scan. Now very nervous because they suddenly seemed interested in if I'd had a bone scan previously and went off to "find it". Then they've had me wait and they put me under a different machine and did EXTRA scans of my lower back/pelvis and another CT scan of that specific area. Now I have to wait an hour for the report and films.... I feel sick to the stomach, particularly since that area started aching when I walk a couple of weeks ago.

Thanks for keeping me company ladies :-)

Oh Jenn - what a day.  Great news about the CT scan and ovary.  I'm sure the bone scan will be fine.  They probably just decided they needed to charge some extra fees and so wanted to "look busy".  Here's hoping anyway.

Good Luck - I've got everything crossed for you

Hi Ladies, I've been lurking around and reading the last few pages...boy is there a lot to read :)

Firstly, Jenn, thinking of you, tests tests and more tests...don't we just love them but loath them at the same time!! Good luck with your bone test results.

Just wanted to ask a question as I am finding mixed info on good ol' google but I'm scheduled to see a plastic surgeon on the 22nd Jan and was wondering as I'm going to go the BMX.....is this covered by Medicare at all??

I had private health cover through work for 10 years, had my baby and then only got rid of it 2 years ago (if that)!!!

    Thanks in advance :)

Jenn, I am exhausted from "Happy Dancing" for you today!

What amazing news! I could feel your fear Hon! You've had a dreadful day of ups and downs, but such great news. I am so thrilled for you.

Not so much for the arthritis, but there is so much out there now for that. I have had rheumatoid since '94 and have it well controlled. Don't know what you can do for the achiles, but I am sure there is treatment out there.

Any celebration plans for tonight, or will you just crash from the stress?

Just re-read and it was actually my hamstring that has some problem not my achilles!

Never thought I would be so arthritic at 47yrs, but hey I'll take that over mets for now.
