Hi Karen, I like the sound of the G&T on the patio, and someone else cooking dinner is bliss.
Annette, my Colin cries over movies too. He's unreal, a real man's man, but show him "Old Shep" or anything a bit sad and he's off.
I too, went into a cleaning frenzy today because, would you believe, my ex husband was coming to visit for the weekend. I was actually looking forward to it, we get on well enough.
He rang about an hour after he left to drive here, to say that he had gone to pick up something from the chemist on the way and his ATM card was declined. He rang the bank and they told him his card had been "compromised" and that he has to go to a bank on Monday to change his password. He explained that he only operates off this one card and that he's on his way to Gippsland. The woman says she's sorry but there is nothing that she can do. He doesn't want to risk driving 300km without any money and a card that has been compromised, whatever that means.
So my cleaning binge was for nothing. I have more food than we can eat over the weekend, and I have nibblies and dessert that I really shouldn't eat. Anyone want to come over?
I must say I'd have loved to see his face when his card was declined! LOL

Moirai, having your card declined for what ever reason is a real pain in the proverbial! It happened to me years ago when card first came in......what a pain!....I was at the checkout in the supermarket with two little kids and a whole row of people behind me........talk about embarrassing! Anyway I managed to get the supermarket to hold the groceries while I raced to the bank to sort it out. There was nothing wrong, just a glitch in the system.......boy was I mad!
Tea has been consumed and if I say so myself, it was yummy.....lol. Now for a little more relaxation in front of the tele.
Have a good night all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Hi all,
Angela - I am so sorry you are having to deal with such hard news. Not really anything else we can say really... I know all of us would wish this cancer situation disappear for you if we could...
Am busy at work and dealing with a new boss who I have no history with and who has a completely different style of management than either of my two previous bosses who both championed me and who have both now left the company. This change is challenging me when I've only just finished everything and still waiting to start feeling better!
Uni has started this week as well so I have 2nrs of lecture to download and listen to each week. I've been reading but not having time to contribute here :-(
Have gotten a referral to a new onc though and have told my research nurse that I may want to change to the other centre!

The lamb roast was delicious - Midnight - I thought you might have your own lambs. Lamb chops are expensive here too.
It's good to be home - BUT..... wish I was rich and could have a summer holiday home in NZ. Don't forget, this was my first trip to the Sth Island in spite of being born in the Nth. I guess we love where we are born, the Nth Island is my first love.
We had absolutely no rain the whole time we were there, except for a few spits while on the bikes.
Here are some pics:
Me on the boat travelling around Doubtful Sound - lovely lovely place
Me on a lookout above Akaraoa - a place settled by the French in 1840 - them most lovely place I found - I want to move there
Lake Wakitipu - where Queenstown is - bit too commercial for me but the lake is gorgeous

Wow! Those pics are gorgeous Sue! Making me want to go to NZ.......lol......guess ill just have to travel there through you.
Was chatting to Aly and she said that a drought has been called in the North Island......only 10ml since December. Hope they get a break soon .........getting no rain is a real pain for everything and everyone.
Back to my relaxing.......lol.
Love n hugs! Chrissy0 -
Angela - sorry about such cr*ppy news. Sending hugs x

Hi all
I have been on holidays this week and next week, have not gone anywhere just stayed at home. I had my hair done, stayed at home a couple of days and did some housework and gardening. I went to some antique shops today, lots of nice stuff but quite expensive, I really love Art Deco but that's got so dear.
I also brought some easter eggs today, for me, have eaten one and about to eat the other, I just can't stop myself, I love easter eggs!!!
Next week I'm going to the Casino with some friends, hopefully I'll have some luck.
My Dad has got a farm with sheep and cows, he checks the prices and says that sheep have gone down alot. I'd like to know why lamb is so expensive in shops then??
Hope you all have a great weekend.

Good morning Girls, am off out soon to help feed some animals, the no rain is causing havoc and we got to feed extra stock food, trouble is where we have them, is leased and the fences need fixing and the owner will not do it. this morning two sheep got out and they were grazing on side of road, which is the main road and the animal control rung, well hubby went there and asked did he see where the sheep ran back to as he could fix the area, where they got out as there is bush there along the fence and he kept talking over the top Ron all the time, they were on the road, like he was trying to manipulate an arguement, Ron got pissed with him and raised his voice, don't yell at me, he was trying to get a simple answer to a simple question so he could fix the area, this idiot was too arogant, they get abit of power and think they are God's Gift to the human race, i think the twit had no idea how to answer and so just kept saying the same thing over again, would not listen either, they need communication skills to deal with people and hubby tried to shake his hand and apologised for raising his voice and the animal control guy just walked off in a huff and grumbled. so we are going to feed them some stuff and try and mend some areas where they could be getting out. so busy day. sheep are pain in the bum at times.
have a good one ladies

Midnight - we saw some escaped sheep by the side of the road driving over the Banks Peninsula back to Christchurch - scary stuff as we saw a huge truck which would clean them up if they got on the road. Hope yours can be kept in.

We have taken a heap of food out to them, hubby thinks he knows where they got out, and try to fix it so they can't. other than that he can't see where they got out, its too difficult that they would fall into a deep drain, he will check them later, give them some more water, they are all resting at present as it's got hot. maybe some more hay later. well i am going to shower as l8ter will do my normal sunday job, the laundry. not got too much, so will be good.

Hi girls, not sure if I have made myself known here, I don't think so. I am Gail from the Gold Coast and even though I joined here in 2007 I was told about the Aussie BC site by Jezza and more than 7000 posts later am still actively involved. Now I have been diagnosed with mets I was wanting more contact and information from fellow stage 4 woman , so I will get more involved with this forum now. We had a get together at wivenhoe dam in 2011 and it was fabulous, have just such a lovely group of women and Have also made friendships over the time involved. I really don't know how I would cope without the support and friendships of women who "get it"! You really can't burden your family with too much information or worry so to have others to lean on is a godsend. I hope to make more friendships and give my support to you.

Hello all
Suzie - welcome home, and your pics are beautiful, NZ is a lovely place. I had my honeymoon there (only the north island) and it was beautiful.Welcome Australia, I'm so sorry to hear about your mets, bc really is a bitch.
I read all your housecleaning posts with amusement, I've been kept busy in between portrait sessions keeping the house clean and tidy. We have someone coming today to look at the house, and another group on Friday, so keep your fingers crossed girls!
Trish

Hi Gail!, Jezza contacted me too, and connected me with a lovely lady in my area. She's just lovely isn't she!
Sorry to hear why you have to be here, but you're in the right place for support and information.
I lived on the Gold Coast for a year in the 70's, what a great time that was. Worked in a clothing store at the top of Cavill Avenue, and went to the beach for lunch every day.
Morning everyone!
Hope everyone has wonderful week....Take care!

Hi Gail another big welcome from me! There is a few of us stage IV girls on this thread but there is also a huge stage IV area in this forum as well so please make yourself known there as well........the women here are all lovely and only too willing to help any way possible.
When I first came here Jezza contacted me also and I did join the Aussie Forum but found it moved so slowly I lost interest and came back here and here I've been since 2010.
Where have they found your mets? Mine are at this point are bone only but we all know that can change anytime.........
I look forward to seeing more of you.
Ooo Trish fingers crossed that one of the groups that are due through falls in love with your house! Now wouldn't that be fantastic! Sold in the first couple of viewings?!
Have a lovely day all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Hi Gail.....I too joined well before I started posting & it was after my mets diagnosis that i actively joined in! So, even though we've 'met' before, welcome!! You've been a godsend to me on BCA & I'm sure you'll get that extra support you're looking for on here Looking forward to extra chat time....:)
It's a public holiday here today so I've got hubby home & daughter No.1 just got back from a holiday in India yesterday so we're catching up for lunch & what I'm sure will be a long chat hearing all about it!

Trisha, fingers crossed for you......hopefully the right person will walk through your house this week

Hey girls, gosh i am a lazy old girl, hubby rang me this morning and i moaned, its only 8 oclock, he said, negative, its 10.45, WHAT, gosh and it was, and i slept all that time as well, but have a headache today as i probably slept too long, gosh i got a fright when i found it was that late, he said, he had been home twice and i was snoring away, so he thought instead of waking up grumpy, he would let me sleep lol. that is is his saying, i woke up,grumpy so i will let her sleep. I am cooking mince tonight and we have those very small perla potatoes and they were bound for the mince pot, but husband likes them seperate. and i will throw some frozens in a little l8ter. i love mince, was going to make rissoles, but could not be bothered, we were going to have this sat ,then it was sun, so finally today we will have it.
hope everybody is ok, a big welcome to Australia. nice to see new ladies come in, i am just across the tasman and there is another lovely lady who visits too, Alyson. Alyson has been coming in here long before i have. we have a nz site, but it is too quiet, we were going strong at one time, but some have dropped away due to wanting to concentrate on other aspects of life and get away from their cancer thoughts, and that is good.
I like it on here as its stimulating for me and everybody is on yr side and know exactly what you go thru. i don't always talk about cancer issues, try and broaden the subjects as well, even tho cancer brought us here and that is its purpose.
Trish, keeping fingers and toes crossed for you that you will get a good result with yr house sale. gonna make a cuppa tea.

Hi Gail :-)
I'm also a member at BCA but found it very quiet so get most of my support here. I'm not around as much at the moment as I'm working full-time and studying part-time and just getting over my last 3-weekly Herceptin.

Hi and welcome Gail, I, Suzie, Racy and I think one or two who dont talk much here are all in Brisbane and have had a few get togethers. Not long ago Chrissy, Kate and Trish all came up and we had a wonderful time getting to know each other in real life. The marvellous thing was, each of us felt the other person we had met thru BCo was exactly how and who we imagined them to be. Such a wonderful site here where you really can get to "know" each other and help each other in a very meaningful way.
There was talk of a get together in 2 years - cant remember where now but I think we all needed to win the lotto first lolz

Hello everyone
I hope everyone is travelling along ok, and for those of you doing treatments, the se's are gentle on you.Karen - how are you going? You and Angela are in my thoughts every day.
Annette - hoping you are getting closer to a resolution, I feel for you, being so tired all the time.
I'm going well, still busy. We are actually getting calls now from people who have had us recommended to them, which is lovely and there's more work flowing in. Life is pretty busy and happy at the moment. If things keep going the way they are I may be able to cut back a day or two at work and spend more time on the business. Wouldn't that be great.
Feedback from people looking at the house is great too. There's another group coming through today and more on Friday, one lot is coming on Friday for the second time - now that's promising lol.
Must run, but my love to you all
Trish

Thanks for the nice words girls! Hi Jenn, Kazzie!! Gail...I think we first met on chat here? I was an avid chatter for years here but haven't been on for ages....
Yes bcaus.org.au seems to move very quickly for months and then slows down...always people reading though and I guess thats the main thing, to gain local info. This site really is amazing for general up to date info..not always relevant to whats available in Oz unfortunately. I often tell Oz ladies about this site too!
I guess one thing about the Aust. site is that you can usually find locals to meet up with..we have national gtgs but also lunches in other areas..I'm from Melb and we meet up every few months.
Gail will be great for this thread....she has some really "INTERESTING" stories...lol

Hi Jezza!
So nice to see you here.
I met up with your friend Mel at the BCNA Forum in Sale. She was just lovely, and if I am in Sale agian I will catch up with her if she is free.
I am amazed at how many of us you have made contact with . Thanks again! Moira

Wow...I didn't know you had met up! Thats great. Mel always comes to our Melbourne lunches from Sale...shes amazing.Well I was diagnosed with breast cancer 21 years ago and have been involved with quite a few breast cancer forums for the past 7 years or so and support groups longer...so yes I have had quite a bit of contact with BC ladies!
It always gives me a thrill when those who have been chatting meet up..
Suzie...I loved your NZ photos..I've been there twice and couldn't believe how beautiful it was.
Annette...love your chatty posts..you have a natural gift for story telling!
Hugs to those still going through treatment.

Hi Girls, how are you all, was very quiet yesterday on here, but i was suffering with the dam reflux again, we had mince and baby spuds the night b4, so don't why, i actually must had chest fluid from the acid as it was very sore in the middle of my chest, where the ticker is and my throat as well, am ok today tho, Hubby brought Maccas breaky home, no affect at all and lol we had to go out and so got subway for lunch, so now i think it will be a light dinner as i will suffer again, its gettinf to a stage i have to dose mysef up with gaviscon, on top of my losec and Rinitidine. very dam fustrating.
We watched a movie called sole surfer about a girl called Bethany Hamilton who had her left arm bitten off by a shark while she was surfing, well she was just laying on the board gliding her arm in the water and it became a meal for some hungry mean shark and it was about her journey of recovery, very inspiring movie, the family stuck together with her all the way through her recovery and after. Lovely movie, we had taped it from another time, so can watch it when ever.
well we have a dog going to be speyed tomorow, so better go and feed them and her as she can't eat past 8 oclock and drink past 12. so will go do that and Hollly is driving me nuts barking for hers. catch yas later, hope you ok. hugs

Hi Annette, sorry you are having a rough time with your reflux. I have it too and it drives me crazy, even gives me asthma. I have often woken with it shooting into the back of my troat and nose..sorry TMI!
Mine has no specific rhyme or reason to it, sometimes I can get it really bad just from a drink of water, and then, no problem with chilli or spices, most of the time. I just don't get it.
I have tried every proton pump inhibitor on the market, but I find that good old Tazac, which was one of the first meds from the 70's does a good job. I also am never without the chewable quickeze. I find they work so much better than the Milanta, Gaviscon etc. Two of those and it takes the burn away, straight away.

Hi girls......I've never had a problem with heartburn but my hubby gets it quite frequently - too much beer I reckon but he disagrees....lol
Anyway, he too swears by the good old Quick Eze, always has a pack on hand & reckons they work pretty much straight away just as Ariom said.
Sometimes I think he must have shares in the company he swears by them so much!!
The forum has been quiet the last few days & I do hope you can get some relief soon from all this discomfort Annette.....
Not much happening with me, just finished my7 days off the Xeloda, can't start up again till I see the onc tomorrow & he checks my bloods are ok. I'm pretty sure all will be well & I'll be starting cycle 2 on Friday......have had very little side effects, thankfully!
Hope everyone is well & just busy having too much fun to be posting....:
Karen x0 -
Maybe i will try that Moira, they may help better. thanks. its does make me wheezy, but i don't have asthma, but i think the acid creates fluid and it sits on the lungs and i get the dry cough, anyway i am fed up with it, well now going to feed my bunnies, have some nice veges, will put spuds on first tho, having last of the mince, Ron liked it, so he can have most of it. I love the baby spuds and i will do some brussel sprouts for me. he would tell you to stick them somewhere, I LOVE EM. lol yum
