hi Ladies, it is mid morning here and i am just having breakfast, toast and cottage cheese, it is one of the foods that does not upset my abdominal issues, Thank God, light and easy to digest.
Much of this country has dried out, they say palmerston North and its not a small town has only enough water for six weeks, it was in the paper other night and also televised last night, so things are desperate, i do not know what happens and where they get water from if they run out, i am only showering twice a week, just have a wash, i do the dishes once a day, if alot and i try and conserve water much as poss. we have to make sure the animals have it as they go searching and get out on roads and cause issues. i think i will have to get the guy to take them to works, all the sheep, they going anyhow. we are buying stock food and that is ok, but it is the water that is the BIGGY at the moment. Yep things are getting serious with water issues.
Aussie, hope you are ok, if you are reading, hope all went well for you, if you not reading, interested in knowing when you are able to, of how you are. take care

Gosh it's is a very active forum! Great! Thank you also much for your welcomes and great to see you are on here also Liv. I had good and bad news this week. Cancerous fluid around lungs continues to decrease which is wonderful, however one spot of cancer in my lower spine has progressed and he is concerned is in my soft tissue. Having MRI Tuesday and start radiation and abraxane soon. So disappointed did not get longer out of AI's and need to do chemo again, I said to onc I need to be around as long as possible or my son and he reassured me I would(better not be telling me porkies lol) my son is 20 but we are on our own and very close, and I want to know there is someone else who loves him like I do to leave this life happy. Karen, don't know how you can get that prognosis out of your head, I am not ready for that yet! Jezza is referring to funny stories we had with my dating thread on the bcaus forum, but afraid those days are well and truly behind me now which is a bummer. Keep strong girls, we need to have a good day every day. Love Gail

Hi Gail and all girls.
I know Abraxane has not always been the winner for other ladies, none of them are, but it has been my best friend. Soft tissue tumours shrunk to NED in 6 months. I have just had radiation 3 to my scone with only 9 more, then we are back on the Abraxane to try to polish the body biters off.
Don't despair.
One foot in front of the other.
I am more tired than have ever felt and still wobbly. My taxi helpers are getting me around and, given it hasn't dropped below 31deg outside for 3 weeks, being housebound ain't too bad.
Love to all
Angela0 -
Angela, that is really great news. So happy for you.
I have decided to hand in my resignation at work on Monday. I am lucky that I am in the position that I can give up the $$$ for the moment. Paul has got a new long term job in Darwin (starting in April) and pay is very good, but down side is of course that, well, he'll be in Darwin and I'll be here. Can't have everything. Anyway the final straw with my boss came last Wednesday. I'd taken Jilly to the vet the night before hence that lovely photo on FB. She had a nasty gash on her chest from god knows what, and she was to be operated on the next morning. So I had her at the vets early the next morning to fill out consent forms etc, and wouldn't you know it, when I tried to see the gash (which was a stand out just the night before) I couldn't see it. It had started to knit overnight. I didn't want Jilly to under-go unnecessary surgery and not spend nearly $500 if not absolutely necessary, so I had to wait to see the vet for his opinion. I wasn't just going to leave her there while there was a a question mark just to get to work on time so this made me late for work. Not a drama you would think, I texted the other lady who would be there first to tell her I was running late and to remind her where the office key is kept so she could get in. Well wouldn't you know it, my boss turned up just as I did (it was her day off) and when I explained to her why I was half an hour late, she looked at her watch and said, 'Well that's not good, leaving a new starter by herself' This new starter has been there a month, is older than me and tough as almight and she is more than capable of being on her own for 30 minutes. I told Tania that I had texted her to let her know and so she just rolled her eyes at me. So that's the last straw. BC has taught me that I don't have to put up with this ****, and I'm sure not going to let stress make me sick again. So resignation will be handed in first thing on Monday. Girl Power!
Much love to everyone oh and Trish, just love the family photo's you took. Well done.

Kate you go girl! Girl power is right........you do not need to put up with crap from anyone under any circumstance. Sounds like that boss needs a few lessons in personnel management!
Ok, what about da dawg? Did she or did she not need an op?0 -
Good on you Kate. yea girl power, why put up with that when you don't need to, is Jilly a cat or dog. did she have surgery? i do hope she mended well.
Angela, hope that horrible light head feeling will diminish soon and you won't feel so tired and lousy.

No, she didn't need surgery. The vet was amazed as he was the one who recommended it the previous evening. So I took her home. $80 for antibiotics was all it ended up costing. Happy mum .

Hi ladies, I am having trouble keeping up with all your posts! Know that I am thinking of you, especially those of you on chemo.
Chrissy, you are amazing!
Kate, you don't need the hassles of that job. You are way too talented. You can find another one, if you want to. How long till DD's wedding now?
Trish, Kylie, Sue, Lynda and Jenn, special hellos to you!0 -
Racy, nice to see you on the Boards, sometimes it is nice to read them all and not post, hope you doing ok. Another gorgeous day in Palmerston North, Oh but we do need the rain. hubby told me to go out and do a naked rain dance, it may get such a shock, it pours down, cheeky bugger. oh and sing the Bing crosbys classic, singing in the Rain, lol it would get a shock and so would everybody else catch you later.

Sorry Midnight I did not reply to your query earlier. Hubby had to go on a special diet for 2 days but no enema. Goodness you would think his throat had been cut with the diet, lol.
We have spent the weekend moving. Our house became vacant on the Central Coast NSW so decided it was the best place for us. I am so glad to be home. Moving sucks but we went to the beach today and it makes it all worthwhile.
Kate, I am glad you are able to do what feels right to you. Glad your dog is okay.
Trish how did the house inspections go?
Happy thoughts to everyone x

Hi goils!!
What a weekend! I'm so bushed right now I can hardly get out of my own road! Picked up SIL (sister in law) on Saturday from Wallaroo, chatted and giggled our way all the way home.......made coffee for us and a snack as neither of us had eaten lunch and we were just sitting enjoying the coffee when DH rang to tell us he had made bookings to take us out to dinner!.........what a man!!!!......what a lovely surprise!......lucky him as I was just going to make spaghetti bolognaise.........lol. So, after a bit of fine dinning and more chatter and laughter, we returned home. DH tootled himself off to bed and left SIL and I to continue chatting into the wee hours........which we did. Yup, a huge day coming up Sunday and we nattered on until 3.30am!!! Can you believe it?!
Sunday morning arrived and the eyes did not want to open or focus but they had no choice in the matter and I was soon up, showered, breakfasted and ready to go. We had a really good run down to the city and out into the hills which meant that we arrived a little early but as luck would have it, exactly at the same time as the happy couple.
The whole afternoon was wonderful, the owners of the Inglewood Hotel did an outstanding job with the organisation, set up and the food........delicious! DD and future Son in law were so busy chatting to everyone and were both so happy it was amazing!
Elder DD asked if her daddy could drive her home as she had had a couple of wines so after a slight detour, DH, SIL and I finally headed back out of town at about 7.15. Next stop Wallaroo and then finally home at 11.30. Yup, I drove all the way as DH didn't have a clue which way to go to make the trip as short as possible.........I usually drive all the back country road which is fine but at night we had to be a little more careful as there are loads of roos so concentration has to be at the highest level.
Guess what I'm doing today?!..........absolutely nothing!!! Thank goodness it is a long weekend here in SA!
Hope your weekend has been a good one and not so busy as mine........lol.
Love n hugs all! Chrissy0 -
Wow Chrissy...you do deserve a day or relaxation & lots of sleep tonight! It sounds like it was all worth it though
I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I as going to The Birds of Tokyo concert on Friday night....as a VIP guest as my nephew is the lead singer - very proud!
Well, after standing for nearly 2 hours while they performed & then mingling with the band afterwards, my poor cancer ridden back was killing me, we didn't get home til 1.00 am, so was also very tired, but the pain from standing there for so long was incredible & stuck around for the whole weekend......took double doses of pain killers for a couple of days! It was worth it though, it was an amazing night....:)
Have been to the GP this morning for my monthly Xgeva injection & she confirmed what the onc said re my prognosis!! I hear what you're saying Chrissy, as hard as it is, life has to go on & fun times are to be had......memories to be made for my family......
I so don't want to die for a very long, long time!!!
Kate....how did things go at work today with your resignation.....been thinking of you
And Trish.......how did the second viewing go with the house? Thinking of you also
Hope everyone has a good week.
Karen xox0 -
Ooo Karen that concert sounded amazing but oh! your poor back!! I don't know how you did that as I can't stand in one place for longer than about fifteen minutes!
We all do what we can to make each day as special as it can be........filled with love and laughter for those we treasure but I do understand...............
Kate! Oooo sorry girl! I forgot that you were having the show down today........how did it go!
Trish, yeah how did that second viewing go? Any more nibbles? Sure hope so.
Got to go and make that spag bog that I was going to do on Saturday........lol......better late than never!........lol
Love n hugs.n. Chrissy0 -
Excuse me chrissy, but was is the spag bog lol ?
Kate, how'd it go with telling Miss Muffet you aint interested anymore in her job?
Karen, standing makes you weary for a short time, but for a lengthly would of been hard esp with yr bone aches, but nice to go to a concert esp as yr nephew is singing in it.
oh well catch yas later

Good to hear from you Aussie & looking forward to hearing all about it!
I did get a laugh out of the 'what is spag bol' question...lol, we forget that the Aussie language is one of a kind.
We all keep asking about Kate....it's only just 5.00 o'clock here in Perth so don't imagine Kate will be home from work for a little while yet...
Roast chicken cooking at my house.

It has taken me about a week but I have finally caught up on all the posts after my absence....each day I'd read a bit more but I never had quite enough time to get to the end...until tonight as hubby is away! I couldn't just skip ahead as I didn't want to miss any of the news...
So sorry to hear that many of us aren't travelling so well just now....sending warm hugs to each of you.....
Annette, I had a colonoscopy last Monday and like Kylie's husband I didn't have an enema but I did have to fast for a day and take a special "bowel prep" that had me in the toilet at hourly intervals and certainly gave me a very, very clean system! I have to say that the actual exam is a breeze compared to the prep.....
Kylie, I hope hubby gets a good result on his test...fortunately, mine was all clear. It was only about 18 mths ago that I'd had a clear colonoscopy but then I got a positive annual bowel test result and I was sent off to be tested again...the treating Dr said that now I'd been diagnosed with cancer "they would jump on everything"...I'm glad they do!
Jenn and Kylie, I got my Tamoxifen Predict result from my GP about 10 days ago and I am also an intermediate metaboliser with the recommendation to increase the dose to 30-40mg....it may be chance but 3/3 with reduced metabolism?? That seems very high! I am seeing my Medical Oncologist just before Easter and my GP seemed to think it wasn't urgent to see what medication changes needed to be made....in a way it's a shame as I haven't had too problems with the Tamoxifen although I have only been taking it for just over 3 weeks...
Lolalee, I have also starting taking 1,000 IU of Vit D as my levels were on the low side. It is best taken in a combination with calcium? Is 1,000 IU enough?
Sorry for the long post but I had lots of catching up to do...
Take care everyone.....0 -
hi everyone!!
just an update sort of for you all. late february I got the results back from my genetic testing I had done. It confirmed that I do indeed have cowdens syndrome. google it if you want info but basically its a 1 in 200,000 syndrome where there is a fault in the Pten gene which predisposes people that have the fault to have an increased risk of certain types of cancer including breast, thyriod and bowel cancers. i got it from my dads side of the family and my dad has been told by the genetics lady that he probably has it even though he chose not to get tested through taking blood samples like i did. what this has led to is me making the decision to have my right breast removed in a prophlatic measure so that i wont get cancer in that side. also means more regular screenings of the thyroid, bowels etc so the doctors can be ontop of it all if anything comes up in the future.

Hello all
Sorry I've been MIA, life is just too darn busy at the moment.
Karen - you've been in my thoughts, I don't know how I'd handle being told how long I had. But Chrissy has summed it up beautifully (again lol) we are all different, and what may be the right timeline for someone else, may be very different for you. I know it must be so hard at the moment, but just live each day to the fullest your body will allow and know you are loved by many people.
Annette, I had a colonoscopy in December and didn't have an enema, I had to eat "light" food about 3 days before, so no dairy, wholegrains etc. Then on the day before I was basically fasting with only drinking clear fluids and taking the prep stuff they gave me. I had to dissolve powders into water and drink it over an hour or two (sorry things are a bit fuzzy now) and it tasted pretty awful. I drank it through a straw which helped the taste issue a bit. One of the things I had to drink said I could expect a bowel movement within an hour - but it only took 5 minutes for me. When I had to drink the big lot I was on the loo constantly - talk about a clean out. The colonoscopy itself was a breeze. I was sedated and don't remember any of it lol.
Kate - good for you! Hope your boss has trouble finding a replacement. Great news that Paul has a job, but Darwin!!!?? Do you think you'll relocate? Or just visit. Glad you liked the family photo on fb - everyone loves that one lol.
Kylie - so you've moved? Is it better now being back where you were?
Mel - so good to hear from you - intersting news about your genetic testing - where do you go from here?
Aussie - good to hear from you too, although not good you are still in hospital.
Ok - my big news! Tada!!! We've sold the house :-) We just don't know who we've sold it to yet as there are three people that want to buy it! I'm astounded, it's only been on the market for 10 days. We are letting the agent sort out the price now as it's gone over what we were originally hoping to get, so he can negotiate with the three groups and let the best one win.
OMG now I have to find somewhere to live! I thought we'd take around 6 months to sell, so haven't been looking. Guess it's time to start.
On top of all that we have another Living Social deal going live today, still have lots of portrait shoots to do, two weddings next month and a birthday party this month.
I also had a recruitment agency ring that has found me my last 3 jobs and ask me if I was interested in a position that sounds wonderful. So they have sent in my application and we'll see what happens.
Did someone once say it never rains but pours!?? Life is a whirlwind at the moment and I'm having a ball :-)
I'd better go do some work I suppose. Coming to work is pretty much the only rest I get at the moment lol.
Trish

Thankyou very much for info on colonoscopy girls. I am more worried about having the prep than the exam, mainly whether i will do it right and get there and find i have not and they cancel out on me. still don't whether i am getting the endoscopy same time or what.
Aussie, am sorry you were not well during yr hospital stay, well the added complication. have a good rest while your'e there.
LOl Lol Chrissy, i went back and re -read your other post and worked it out, and was going to answer and say don't worry, i have sussed it out and Hubby came home and needed some attention. i told him about it, i said, do you want some spag bog and he said, What the hell is Spag bog, so i explained it to him, and this dumb grin broke out and he said, they got funny sayings lol., i said, so have we, we are all guilty of having our different ways, of saying things. It is abit like the states with (i just worked my fanny off doing that), lol, we and i think you guys too have a little bit of a different interpretation for that word lol. Funny things is that swearing is the same everywhere, esp in the western culture, it does not change.
Wow Trish, that cool news, hope you get a good price and the best people to get it. congrats to you.
well i better go do what i am supposed to do, and that is book Brother in laws trip home from Christ church on weekend, he is going to pick a small chiller truck, that has a chiller on back for keeping our pigfood and dog bones and meat when we get them done, all and all ,and now we get the over dated milk for the pigs, alot of flavoured stuff, the pigs love it, infact Ron says, they would kill ya to get to it. so he pours it over the top. so that will be very handy. i better book BIL passage home on the Ferry, or should I ????? lol, i better. some days, yea well. say no more.
catch ya lovely ladies.

Tammy, I wonder if the tamox. predict test is skewed because we had all only just started, maybe it takes sometime for it to totally get into your system???? I am still happy because I wanted my ovaries shut down - but 3 out of 3 is high odds.
Trish that's fantastic news about the house. Especially as the market isn't the best. I hope you find something you love, less travelling to work will make life easier for you.
I love being home - the beach, not freezing cold and DS so, so happy. We couldn't have done it before my active treatment was finished but it is great to be settled.

The only down side of meeting up with old friends is having to re-explain everything.
I am still always stuck when people say 'so you are in remission?' or 'so everything's good now?' - any suggestions?

Kylie, i get the same, you will b ok, but i have issues that are now being a pain, none of us know really, you always have question mark on yr life all the time, i try to put it out of my mind, cancer changes yr life. we could be good for years to come and live a long life.
Karen, you will be around for a long time, you have heaps to do and heaps to live for and you are stuck with us lol as well, we will keep you plugging along. we may not have all met, but we all yr friends and Kylie and everybody, you are all special.

Hi all, Hey there we call it spag bol all the time. Annette must live in a more refined area of the country.
Will write more later.

lol Alyson, probably as i don't sort of eat that sort of food, Mum was the meat and vege person, i am a whangarei girl. and she never cooked that kind of thing, i think the only time i have eaten that is if i went to a restarant or visiting somebody. i must ask my sister if she knows. as she is further north, KOHU KOHU Hokianga. she may cook that, as they have that sort of food. i am fish and chicken girl really or plain old mince with the veg in it, boring really, i love tacco mince tho. but it was the old fashioned meat and veg meal, not much variety. We were also into our offal foods, like lambs fry and bacon etc and hearts, yummy. oh well, better go and feed these dogs and cats, they are all getting grumpy. catch yas. I just texted my sister ands she knew spag bol, its just me behind the times, i need to catch up and hubby too obviously. catch ya.

Hi all!
Soooo busy with work and study and I'm trying to fit in a walk each night too...
Kylie and all, the Predict test can't be skewed by anything because what it does is check what allele pair you have at a certain place on your DNA string in each cell. You have two active alleles, two inactive alleles, or one of each. It's been "programmed" in your DNA right from your conception and there's nothing you can do to change the result. You got one of the alleles from your Mum and one from your Dad (mostly, but there is a small possibility you inherit both from one parent by a process called crossing over).
We were just all 3 of us "lucky" to get the same result... My two alleles were a "*" and a "4".
Jenn0 -
Hi Jenn, nice to hear from you! I think we all understand the busy side of life and thats a good thing as it means you are trying to get back to normal.
I wonder if they'll ever be able to test for the AI's like they do for Tamoxifen? Interesting as some people get good results and other not so good, in fact they totally fail them or one is not much good but another is.........mmm the things that I ponder on......lol.
Have a good night all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy
