Jenn, hope things have improved for  you.

well must go and get some more jobs done, like the dishes.  my bedroom looks like a bomb has it.

My hip is still sore so it will be a 4km run/walk combo but I couldn't let my sponsors down so I am participating anyway.

Melp one of the secrets is make sure you have a high protein breakfast with some complex carbs for energy. That should give you some sustained energy with a top up or two through the day. Hoping it all goes well for you as I'm sure it will.

Ok thanks Chrissy like what would you suggest? I usually have a cereal with some fruit in it and it's supposed to be high in antioxidants with milk and a glass of juice.

Melp make yourself a bacon and tomato omelet. I use the castelmaine bacon pieces as they cook quickly, cut a small or medium tomato into pieces and cook along with the bacon and then spread over the base of you pan and pour over two lightly beaten eggs. Salt and pepper to taste and let cook gently until cooked through. It's tasty, easy and keeps you full. Add a slice of toast and you'll be good to go. I do mine in a non stick pan if you have one. For your high energy snacks some almonds, seeds and dry fruit. For lunch, a salad with either salmon or tuna and eat as much as you like. You can use a small amount of dressing if you like.

Sorry if I got a bit caried away.....lol. Oh, you can eat the fruit, seed and nut mixture as you need.

    I'm so excited for you!

Annette, I'll be in the city with DD all week and I will definitely keep you up to date with what's happening as I'll have my iPad with me.

Well, off to the restaurant with hubby for Mother's Day lunch.........it was meant to be all the kids as well but they are all down with the lurgy and unwell so I told them to stay home as I would be seeing them ina couple of days anyway. I would much prefer they rest and recuperate than push themselves and get sicker.

    Have a great day all!

    Happy Mother's Day!!

Chrissy, the hearts are beautiful...the finished dream catchers will be awesome!

My hip held up for the Classic 4km run and I completed it in a respectable 28 min 10 sec with just a few walks in the uphill sections. Not bad considering that I only started running for the first time in my life when my rads finished in late Feb this year and I've been trying to get over my hip problem. Best of all I raised $300 for breast cancer research.

The event encouraged participants to pin a tribute on their back to indicate why they were running. Mine said I was running for " Australian Sisters & me". It felt strange wearing a sign announcing that I had been diagnosed with breast cancer but it also gave me a strong sense of belonging. It was great when people yelled out encouragement for "Australian Sisters & me" as they did along the way. It also made me think of Angela and how research is vital to change outcomes.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and enjoys time with family and friends.

Tammy, you are very inspirational doing that,  Good on you and glad your hip held out for you.  yes must be a good feeling when you are running for a charity, esp that which is close to home and so much where we have been on our seperate journeys thru BC. not bad? I think you are wondeful doing that and  i take much pleasure in saying that. You hold your head up high girl and i thanks the Lord for you. warm hugs.

Chrissy, that omlet idea  sounds very desirable, yum, Melp you have a very yummy breakfast coming up if you choose to do that, yummy i would. Chrissy your mum was diabetic and your brother, can you remember if they spoke of a strange taste in their mouth and also having to pea at night alot, gosh it drives me mad,  and the other night half a sleep i tripped corner of bedspread and hit my head on door, hence a few swear words came to light, but it hurt, that seemed to lessen the blow, i will probably have a bruise around my eye, but  never mind. but do you remember them mentioning frequent urination esp at night, its cold too, so hard having to get out of bed. Hope you enjoyed your lunch for mothers day.

Well done Tammy, and thanks :-)

Hope everyone having a good day. I'm healing ok. Have to go into the surgeons office tomorrow morning to have the big dressings taken off. Have had to cut them back a little already as the bandage had given me a couple of blisters (ouch). Can't wait to see how they look tomorrow. They feel just the right size now! I'm hoping I will be one of the women who comes out of this with breasts better than I had before. These are certainly now a bit lifted and more perky than my old 46yr old ones.

    Luv Jenn

Good luck for your first day Mel!  Chrissy's idea for breakfast sounds like the right start.  Make sure you drink lots of water during the day too, that will help keep you going.

Annette, I'd heard that one of the symptoms of diabetes was being thirsty a lot - if you drink more water you will pee a lot lol.  Mind you I never get through the night without getting up to pee at least once, and I'm not diabetic.

Chrissy - the hearts are lovely - you are so clever.  Hope you enjoyed your Mother's Day lunch.

Jenn - good to hear from you - hope you are happy with them tomorrow xoxo

Tammy - well done you!  I'm impressed.  I usually photograph the Mother's Day Classic here in Canberra, but didn't this year.  Last year a friend of mine wore my name on her back which said "If Trish G... can do chemo I can run 5km!"  She did well too.

I didn't photograph this year because of the move, my business partner and a couple of friends did it instead.  My house doesn't look like my house any more :-(  There are boxes everywhere.  Pieces of furniture pulled apart and not in their normal places. All looks a bit sad actually.  But - only 4 days to go and I'm going strong.  No problems yet, but am pacing myself a bit.  Of course it helps that a lot of stuff is going to the dump or to new homes.  I'm having the biggest clean out we've had in decades lol.

Time to go sit in front of the fire and relax now I think.

    Trish

    xoxo

    Hi all

Hoping to have a quiet day. Yesterday had to go up to Whangarei to do a minister's review - I do this for the Presbyterian Church. We left at 5.30 and had a lovely breakfast by the harbour there. The minister was away which meant that I could chat with the congregation. Loved one elderly lady who told me she didn't know what to write but that the minister was just lovely and she wanted to take him home!! I also did the sermon at the two services but because I  am not a theologian I did a talk on the history of mother's day and the images of mother's in the Bible. It was quite interesting to research.

Came home absolutely shattered. Will start looking at all the replies I have to my questioneer in the next couple of days. What fun. Wish I didn't have to write a report but do.

hopre you all had a restful day yesterday.

hi everyone had my induction this morning. the lady was really nice. lots of paperwork and she gave me a uniform shirt. we went through the shopping centre and she generally explained what i would be doing which includes cleaning toilets. I will be shadowing her for the first two weeks as part of the probation period.

Will give you all an update after the first day and the first fortnight but probably not much after that unless anything exciting happens.

Jenn, I'm not a celebrity follower but the news about Angelina Jolie came as a bit of a shock. I was just chatting to someone at work and they started with "did you hear......" and it stunned me for a while.

Yes, it is very sad that so many women have to face this choice and I hope for something better in the future....

In hindsight with what I have gone through I would have had a mastectomy if I knew I had the gene the bi-lateral mastectomy that I had when diagnosed was the easiest part of the treatment Delvzy

Welcome Delzey, glad you have found us.

Wow Alyson, that is an incredible amount of squares. Please show us a pic. when you are through.

It is great to see the coverage for Angelina. As always though totally different spins from each of the Australian doctors on four different local stations. That is why this site has been so helpful, because I haven't been reliant on one doctors opinion; I have been able to ask questions of you all and examine different sides to every situation.
