Hi girls! Happy to report that DD came through the surgery with flying colours! She is, at the moment flat on her back playing candy crush on her phone......lol. Pain is minimal and doc says home on Friday........yipeeeee! Rehab will take a while but she will have to learn to pace herself while fully healing.

Mmm, lunch time.........time to walk over to the cafe and select something yummy.........lol.

    Have a great day all!

    Love n hugs. Chrissy

Yes Tammy, I am. A couple of years ago she had the same thing done to the disc above this one but a few days out of hospital and the darn thing herniated again.........I sure that that doesn't happen this time. Anyway, I think she will really do as she is told this time. I'm glad it's all done.

Spending my days in the hospital with her to keep her company.........

Hi guys great to feel so welcome

Just thought I would add my experience with reconstruction it might help someone else. My reconstruction took 2 years 9 operations that could have been avoided in hindsight. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy Dcis one side 2 10mm tumours other side the left implant and expander had to be removed and put back in 4 times each on the left side and my surgeon after talking to another plastic surgeon in USA said that if you have a lot of lymph glands removed (I had 14) then you need to leave the drain tubes in for 2-3 weeks as the lymphs have been messed with and need a longer time to drain.the fluid or it will build up cheers delvzy

Wow Delvzy! That bit about the drains staying in so long is interesting. So sorry that it took 9 ops to get done though, that's huge! Is everything okay now?

Well here I am again, got back to DDs, made a cup of tea, drank it hit the hay and I was out like a light..........now it wide await again!.......GRRRRR!!!!!! Think I'll need to take a pill as I have a feeling I'm overtired.........don't you just hate that?!

Delvzy, my original diagnosis was 2003 and I was dx'd stage IV in 2009, mets to the bone. I'm doing just fine, there are some limitations with arm movement but I'm okay. My hands are always busy even if the rest of me isn't........I can't stand to sit and do absolutely nothing.......lol........but I've always been that way.

Well I'm off to get that pill.......hopefully I will sleep better with it.

Delvzy, I didn't have chemo. It was a borderline decision in my case so I paid a huge sum of money to have the non reimbursed Oncotype DX test which confirmed it would be of borderline benefit. So I opted not to have the chemo.

I think the test result was of more benefit to making my Oncologist feel comfortable with that course of action than me :-)

Delvsy, the only thing that I did was retire from teaching, I did go back for a year after treatment. I loved my job but it was too much stress and I have other health issues such as rheumatoid Arthritis and fybromyalgia.  Have lost about 17 kilos but need to lose about that again. I will be seven years at Christmas and I am really fortunate to be here. My BS and onc have told me this ( at five years) as they really didn't think I would make it. My stats are even more complicated than what I have listed.

Hope you are all having a good day over the Tasman, looks beautiful here so I had better get a report ready to post and go for a little walk up the road.

    Big hugs

Alyson, i am very glad you still here.  you have been thru alot by the sounds of things.

I am wondering how much curry you should put in curried sausges, i don't like it hot, but i never seem to put enough in it to actually taste and if i am going to have curry sausges, and  i am a little anxiious of over doing it in case, i would like to taste it abit. what is a good amount to put in.  we had them last night,  and i have alot of gravy, so i am cooking some more up to go with the gravy, hubby loves it, but he says he would like to taste more curry, it was abit bland.  any ideas gratefully will be recieved.

I can't answer how much Annette, I always go by colour. My Grandma always put sultanas in them and it is yummy, makes it a bit sweeter.

Annette I put apples in as well. Often these days I cheat and get a packet of Maggi mix- don't tell anyone.

I have cut about half my squares - don't do it by hand I use a cutter on a board and do several at a time. It is hard on my arm and shoulder anyway. Having a cup of tea so once done will get on with them.

Hope everyone's day is going well.

I think that what it was lacking too, sweetness. so  yea, thanks a heap ladies.

Tammy I wish I had been given the option I think that you get the standard 6 treatments 3 weeks apart as soon as they find it in the lymph glands especially if it was grade 3. I was terrified of chemo but went under a natural doctor as well and ended up jogging every day through treatment. I did take 6 months off as kept getting colds etc from people at work

I know I used to be a good sleeper before BC now I have to have chamomile tea and my doctor prescribed meletonin (natural sleep hormone) which usually works a trick. I take 1/2 sleeping tab for the really hard nights (usually when it is hot)

Delvzy, we've all been there with the sleeping problems........been using melatonin for years and have recommended it to a lot of people........it does work a charm. I usually don't need anything much any more but every now and then I have a doozy of a night. When that happens I really hope there is not much happening the next day as after my pill I have a tendency to sleep for ages.

Good on you for jogging through chemo! What did your natural doc prescribe for you? Sounds really interesting.

    Sleeping through? What's that... haha

You are "sounding" well Annette. How are you doing after all those tests you had the other week?

Well, I had the stitches out this afternoon. For an area that is pretty numb pulling those stitches hurt! Now I just have steristrips for a few weeks. The PS said that my size should reduce a little more than currently because the liposuction has meant that I'm still a bit swollen. I hope they do shrink down a little more as they are still bigger than I wanted. I was hoping to go down a couple of cup sizes but all my bras (the DD ones) still fit, even after he took out some tissue/fat.

I started taking the Tamoxifen tablets again yesterday after having a nearly 4 week break from them for the surgery (surgeon insists on stopping taking them at least 2 weeks prior surgery because they can cause clotting problems). This morning I noticed my nose has started running again, and this evening I can feel the depression sliding in. FIVE YEARS of this? I don't know...

I have a uni assignment due on Monday. Basically, I have to write an entire academic paper. I'm struggling, not only with my brain processing and getting the ideas out, but even just getting my brain to commit to working on the assignment. I hate chemo brain... I started a brain training program called Luminosity online this afternoon - in the hopes I can get this brain working properly again.

    Love Jenn

    Hi all

I went to the hospital today and had my last fill in my expander, it looks really good, just a little bit sore. I don't have to go back for 3 months when I will see my Doctor about my implant surgery. I will miss seeing the Nurses their as they were all very nice, even the office lady new me by name the last few times that I went their, I've been going every week for about 6 weeks.

There's a huge storm about to hit here, the sky is very black. There's been a bit of rain all ready.

Annette, Mum used to make curried sausages when we were kids, I used to love it.
