Kate, hope today went well for you.
Karen I remember MaryB saying she used something called Bag Balm and she had good results. I think she said it was used for milking cows udders to stop them cracking.......I saw her use it and her hands were as soft as silk......she just rubbed the cream into her hands and feet and then wore cotton socks and cotton gloves to bed. May be if you google it you could find it. Oh wow!!! Close call for the Jag!! So glad it missed.
Annette, great pics! You know you've done it now as we will expect more now that you know how to do it........lol.
Gail, that's relatively good news for you!.....yay!!!!
I have been asked to exhibit some of my photos of Burra and surrounds in the up coming exhibition at the local Art Gallery........I'm pretty chuffed at that.....lol......hopefully I will sell one or two to cover the cost of putting them in. I'm just printing them at A4 size and having them matted.......if they sell I will leave the framing up to the purchaser.
Well there are hundreds to go through so I'd best get to it!
Love n hugs all. Chrissy0 -

Karen...
Regular gentle pedicures to minimise dry skin
Use cream on your hands and feet regularly
Go to bed with creamed up feet and hands with socks and cotton gloves on
Avoid walking long distances, especially in ill fitting shoes
Wear gloves when washing up
Avoid activity with your hands that puts pressure in one area eg using a screwdriver
Ultimately you may need to reduce your dose or take a short drug break to allow your hands and feet to heal a little. Evidence is that if you do that then restart the hand foot problems don't necessarily come back (although for some it does).
The reason it happens is that the drug molecules are so tiny they are able to leak out of your skin when you put pressure on it, and then it irritates your skin on the outside.

I was supposed to see the surgeon tomorrow for yearly checkup. I dont feel like driving 250kms and I have seen my onc last month and see doctor every 4 weeks for zolzdex injection. Do you think I really need to see him?
0 -
Kylie if you are feeling fine and your other docs assess you at each visit I wouldn't worry too much about seeing the surgeon as well. Make the phone call and cancel, if you need you can always re schedule for a later date.
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Kylie....I agree with Chrissy. No need to be seeing your GP, onc & breast surgeon if you have no issues. Make the call, cancel & have a good day!
Jenn....thanks for the info re hand/foot syndrome. I am doing most of that, I think it's starting to build up now after 9 months.....all sorts of issues starting to appear! Oh well, if it's working it's worth it.
Annette...love the pics of you & the family. Very impressive that you figured it out for yourself!!!
Hot, hot weather over here in Perth but I quite like it..... Hubby & I are off to Hayman Island on Saturday for a week, looking forward to time in the sun, beach & pool & just the 2 of us......and of course I've had to do some shopping for new shorts, dresses & bikini to take with me.....lol.
Have a great day all....(((hugs)))
Karen xxx0 -
Thanks girls, I don't feel guilty now for cancelling.
Hubby in hospital this week with back (broke it in 4 places previously) and the associated dramas with that : he was 300kms away. Very expensive weekend and it wasn't even fun.
0 -
Kylie, make sure you are getting regular breast exams by your onc and/or GP. If so, ok to cancel BS appointment.
0 -
Oh dang Kylie! I sure hope your DH recovers well........backs sure can be a pain and after a major trauma to them they become a major pain.
Karen I sure hope your time away with hubby is relaxing..........Hayman Island is beautiful!
Well my eldest GS will officially be an adult as of Thursday.........what a scary thought! I will be driving down to the city so we can all go out to dinner to celebrate and then in a couple of weeks DD is going to put on a bit of a gathering for him and his friends to celebrate.......time sure is marching on at a fast pace!
Karen, as to your hot, hot weather........please don't send it this way as I much prefer the cooler mild weather that we have been having. I'm afraid I'm just not a summer person at all!
Have a good night all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -
Kate - been thinking of you girl, hope all is proceeding as it should xoxo
Kylie, hope your DH is feeling better soon - backs can be a pain in the ... well you know what.
Chrissy - how exciting to have your photos exhibited! Let us know if you sell any :-)
Karen, hope you enjoy yourself in Hayman Island - you deserve it!
Sorry I've been a bit quiet here lately - lots of photography going on lol.
I've also made an appointment with a new GP. Mine won't return my phone calls and I still have no idea what he thinks I should be doing, so after much soul searching I've decided to move on. He had said he thought it was a nerve in my back causing problems, I saw my chiro this week, and told him, so he gave me a pretty good going over and doesn't agree. So we'll see what a new GP thinks.
Pain isn't too bad, has been niggly over the past week or two, so pretty easy to put up with.

Kylie, sorry about ur hubby, mum has been having a terrible back too, due to an old injury, she broke her back years ago and they reckon its an old vertabbrae that has decayed and she has been to doc and treatmern.t she said, when it comes on, its like somebody has shot her and terrible pain comes over her. also last thursday, some young hoodlams tried to break into her house, they has been doing the street and bashed an old guy sensless. they took the rubbers off her windows and took the glass out and threw stuff on the garden, but the little dog next door, started to bark and they got the distutbance they needed to piss off, they have been caught though now, in the middle of robbing a house down the road from her and the cops were not far away and caught these little tykes. a 21 and 19 year old, picking on elderly folks. she was lucky, as they belted an old man up about three houses down from her. so the police have added her to the watch list, of been checked on during their rounds at night. who have been targeted. she was very lucky she was not broken into, 80 year old on her own, i would hate to think what would of happened if that dog did not go mad, little poodle named Marley. she probably saved mum from a night of hell.
by the way, where are the Hayman Islands? sounds gloirus.

Trish, changing docs sounds like a very good idea as your old one was doing nothing for you. Maybe now you will get some answers and some relief.
Oh my Lord Annette! Your poor mum! I do hope they throw the book at those little buggers who were targeting the elderly and did bodily harm to one! That sort of thing just makes my blood boil! I'm so glad the police have added her to the watch list. Hayman Island is off the Queensland coast.
Not sure if I'll sell any photos but it will be experience if nothing else.
I'm off, I need to walk down to the Post Office as there is a parcel for me........probably one of the things I bought on Ozsale.......there will be a few deliveries coming up as the prices of things were pretty cheap.......and I couldn't help buying.......bad girl, bad!
Lover n hugs all. Chrissy0 -
Chrissy I signed myself off those sites because I kept buying so much lol.
Annette your poor Mum. Send her my best wishes.
Trish I am so glad you are seeing someone new, fingers crossedfor some conclusive answers.

Kylie, I'm usually pretty good and just look but there were a couple of things that I have been wanting for ages but hadn't bought as they were expensive that were all of a sudden a bargain and I just couldn't resist. One was a stove top griddle that retails for $250 I got for $50! Oh yeah! Been wanting that one for ever!!! Any wonder I couldn't resist.......hahahaha!
The other stuff was just new underwear for DH and I and it was good brands for less than the cheapies again, another bargain......lol. I'm all for getting the most for my money.......aren't we all?!
Love n hugs. Chrissy0 -

Hey, they had on news at lunch time about this hat that you wear in chemo. that is taken below temp, that the coolness of it, its actually a machine, but it stops the hair loss from the chemo, they a lady with BC that has been doing the trial, at mater hospital in Auckland. the machine is about 50 grand. but this machine is donated to the Hospital and this lady has been having treatment and no hair loss at all. so its keeping the head cold, stops it falling out. intersting.

Chrissy - you have a good eye - I hope that you sell all of them :-)
Racy - two weeks tomorrow lol I can't wait!
Annette - these are called cold caps. They've been around for a while, I think Racy used them? I could have at my hospital, but decided I didn't want to go through the hassle, and a very cold head lol.
All good here girls, sun is shining today after the wettest few days we've had for a long time.
Kate - are you reading? How are you going?

Hi all
Cold caps have been here for years and yes Trisha they are called Penguin Cold caps. Annette TV 3 - well Campbell Live did a 'breaking news on it about 3 years ago when they had been around for ages. It must have been a slow day for news!!! Anyway they were talking about a machine, think it is something like they use on prem babies. There is one being tested in the States say maybe Mercy have got on to it. It is different from the cold caps you can buy and wear yourself.
Must get some work done, have a lot to do before I have a week away.
Big hugs0 -
maybe it was a newby for me then, i never heard of it before. iy was on the news at lunch time. well i supposed as i never had to have chemo. it would be new. i learnt about something new. anyway it is cool, many more ways than one if it is helpful.
