Karen, i thought i had written one last night, maybe i didn't submit it. am very sorry about your DX, just keep on the hopeful side and hope the chemo does wonder for you. you keep looking to that Grandson of yours.. take care, you are in my thoughts. xxx

Oh shit Karen!!! That's not what we were hoping for at all. I do hope that your visit with your onc can lead to a good strategy for either getting rid of the little blighter or controlling it effectively. Hard for you to get your head around right now but just know we are not going anywhere so you know where to find us.
Thanks girls.........I heard the sighs of relief from here........lol. I still have to see my doc but that is not until tomorrow as he is in theatre all day today so I'm just hanging at DDs with the dog. I got so bored that I went and bought some wool and a crochet hook and started on a snowflake afghan in red and white.......should look good when it's done and I know it will be really warm.
This is what I've got done so far. I need to stitch it together and sew in the loose ends but I think overall it will look just fine.
Lynda, do get tested for diabetes, you don't need to be over weight to get it and numb feet is a pointer as well as thirst, night sweats and sudden loss of weight. My mum was a diabetic and my brother is a diabetic so I get tested on a reasonably regular basis
Mandy I would have liked to see your painted face......lol.......you little cutie you. Sounds like you are going to have a whale of a time at that course.
Don't you just hate it when you want to check what someone said but you can't go back because you'll lose what you've written?......... Never mind, if I need to comment I'll just have to do it next time.......lol.
Hoping everyone is having the best day possible.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Sorry to hear your news Karen, hope they can zap that little blighter quickly. Glad to hear everyone else has had slightly better news than expected. Keep well everyone.

Chrissy, love that snowflake design. I'm thinking cotton and a great runner for the Christmas table. You wouldnt have the pattern to share by any chance (cutest smile I can muster lol). I have just about finished a queen size hexagon throw, doing all the sewing in, and its a bit slow going <sighs>.
Mandy, you gave them a reason to smile, and thats a gift.

Tanya the pattern is one off the net........just type in snowflake afghans free pattern and its the first one on the list. You will just love the patterns on free crochet patterns, there are literally hundreds of them!
Good luck choosing one.....lol.

Lots of news from everyone both good and not so good. Thanks to everyone for letting us know what you are dealing with, it takes a lot of trust to open your heart and I am thankful for this site.
BTW - Hugging is healthy, natural, organic, has no unpleasant side effects or artificial additives. It is the ideal gift, fun to give and receive and best of all is fully returnable. oxo

Quick question, has anyone tried the lymphodonna/lymphodiva arm sleeves? I need a new sleeve, they look ok. Reading the faq's though it says they would last for about 6 months? that doesnt seem long, my old sleeves have been good for years.
thanks
Tanya

Tanya I haven't used them but I know a lot do and a discussion was had about them on the Lymphadema threads. Maybe if you did a search using the search area if BCO it would be easier to find it and perhaps get the info you are looking for.
Good luck!
Lol Kylie, yup hugs are gooood! Love getting them and giving them.

Karen, you know how sad I am to hear the brain met has been confirmed. Sending you and all of us a big hug cos we need it. On the positive side, thank god it is limited to one met . Hope the chemo does its job and it disappears for good. I had bad news myself yesterday, yes it just never ends! I now have liver Mets and suspected lung Mets. I will update you later as don't feel up to typing more about it at the moment. Love Gail xxxx

Oh damn Gail! So sorry you've gotten that news and I really do hope that your next treatment kick it back to stable for you. This sure isn't a great way to be starting the new year but I guess it is what it is and we all deal with what ever comes, like it or not.
We are an amazing bunch if women who manage In adversity to do amazing things.

hi there, Gail, very sorry for your news as well. do hope the lung mets stay as suspect only and not any thing more, in other words, nothing at all.. seems to be alot happening to us, hope it gets better.
hubby has to be in hospital at 7am for his op tuesday, his bro is still giving him a hard time about the healing time, told him that he will just have to be on his feet in a couple of days, listen for it, he adds, there will be no if, buts or maybe's. hubby was going to cancel it as he has been made to feel bad about the amount of time he has to have off. His docs know about he situation and may keep him in. i will be talking to them after he goes for prep. and then going to town til he out and then will visit him for the verdict, i want to get some night shirts for men for him. People stress me out, i try not to let them, if its not him, its somebody else. never mind as chrissy says, we are great women and cope with adversity well. i would love to win LOTTO and buy a private island and vacate there for weeks at a time.

Gail, I am so sorry to hear that you now have liver mets and suspected lung mets. It appears that you have a very positive attitude and that helps. Please vent when you feel the need as this thread is amazing. I felt overwhelmed when I was diagnosed with liver mets one day, lung mets the next day and then brain mets after that. This thread gave me hope and strength to keep going and move forward. There are so many drugs and treatments available to us that can keep us alive for a long time and I believe that cancer will be seen as a chronic illness instead of terminal illness in the near future. I am sure that your onc will have a plan for you upon confirmation and you can deal with it. Thinking of you. (((Hugs))) x x
Warm hugs

Gail I'm so sorry to hear your news, I'm with the others hoping that you will get on top of it for a very long time ((((hugs))))
Kylie - love what you've said about hugs How's you hubby?
Annette - hope your hubby does well for his op - and just ignore the BiL, he sounds like he should be shot!!
I've been to the gastroenterologist, will be having a colonoscopy and endoscopy on 7 Feb. He's also testing me for various bugs in the bowel as well as looking to make sure I don't have C-diff. He's a bit stumped with the pain in my abdomen though, so if nothing relating to that turns up following the tests, the next step is a laparoscopy.
I'm sooooo looking forward to the prep for the colonoscopy - NOT!! After last time I never wanted to do that again lol. This time will be prepared to just sit on the loo the day before and have lots of loo paper, bepanthon and baby wipes at hand.

Trish sorry to hear another test on the way. I told hubby (he is good thanks) I was going away for his next one as he whinged so much about not eating. The kids told everyone that Dad was getting "that up the bum thing" lol.
Gail that is really sucky, I hope you are managing your pain ok.
Annette, wishing you and hubby all the best for next week. Your BIL sounds like my FIL, sometimes it's easiest to cover your ears and sing.

P.S Annette, I got to the point with FIL I let the phone go to message bank.

thankyou girls, he makes me so darn angry. i feel lijke hitting him. our mechanic said last night, that if he was his brother and got treated like bil treats hubby,ie his brother, he would not have a thing to do with him, or very little,, trouble for him as i speak my mind and he is quite cautious when i am around of what he says as he is not quite sure if i will blow up and say my peace , i have stepped and defended hubby quite a few times. over different things, mainly in the manner of how he has spoken to Hubby, like abit of dirt on the end of his boot, he is good for a couple of weeks after that and then he slips back.. i told him, he is not God and i am not going to bow to him ever, he can take a running jump. he is a hitler. no two ways about it. thats it for that subject for now.

Gail - I'm sorry the hits keep coming :-(
I have good news. The breast biopsy came back benign!
My neck and shoulder pain is still bad after 3 days of Lyrica so it's back to the dr tomorrow. This has kept me off work since Wednesday and it will be unpaid because they don't give sick leave until you've been there 3 months...
Went and had a full body massage at the beautician yesterday and a Chinese remedial neck, back and shoulder massage this afternoon. They make it feel better temporarily.
Mum remains a problem. She is now asking everyone to cancel my Power of Attorney and give it to her neighbour. I have had to confirm to the social worker that there is no way to change it since the dr wrote a letter (held on file by the lawyer) in December stating Mum not capable of making her own decisions. I am very suspicious of this neighbour who is suddenly caring so much and who actually thought it would be appropriate to take over the POA...???
Jenn

well girls have been reading just not contributing. My little problems are so insignificant compared to what some of you girls are dealing with Karen Mandy Jenn Chrissy , Fitzy Gail ( sorry if I have missed someone) hope things start to make sense after the shock of diagnosis and a treatment plan works well for all of you. Love hugs Judy

hi Delvzy, it's nice to hear from you. You are just as important as each and every one of us. We all have different challenges that we have to deal with - that's life and I am sure you have your ups and downs also, I hope that you are well and please don't hesitate if you need to vent.
Trish, great news about your biopsy... Bad luck about having to have a colonoscopy....(((hugs))) niot sure if I told you about the little tea parties I had with GD1 this week. She absolutely loves the tea set and did lots of wees because she couldn't stop drinking the water ..lol. I will put up a photo next week when I can use the computer again as I have been using IPad and not that clever with it yet.
Warm hugs
Mandy xx

Judy, your problems are no more insignificant than ours, you are just as valued as every lady here, so vent, or cry or laugh and just join in, as mandy says, you are just as important . we are not allon the same journey, but started with the same cause for us being here. join with us dearie whe ever your heart desires.
mandy, we have an ipad in the cupboard that we have never used, we did not know how to set it up and so it sat there, we are not techical at all. so you doing well.
Trish, i dont ever want a colonoscopy again, for me it was a horrible experience, not so much the prep but the procedure, i felt it all, i still say they did not sedate me enough. so hope it goes good for you,
hubby has brought a motorbike off a friend of his, his ex wife, she ok, but they sold it to her and she should of gone with somebody who knew about bikes, she is a big girl, tall and solid, but that bike far too heavy for her, saw her coming, anyway hubby is riding it home from garage, he has not ridden one for a long time and i am abit nervous about it, i do not like them, i will be biting my nails til he gets home safe, i dont want any more tragedy's. i wont be getting on it, you can bet your bottom dollar on that, i value my life. they think they are bullet proof, i wil be okhe says, i have ridden a bike heaps of times. we will see, i will breath easy when he home and off the thing, killing machines. been that many motor bike deaths over this holiday period. lol wife not happy, wife happy when he gets home. anyway catch yous later.

Morning ladies, I have been following everyone's news and glad that those of you with issues are starting to get some answers, and some of those are not 'bad' answers; Chrissy, Jenn and Trish.
Gail, sorry to hear of your progression. Keep close to your docs and make sure you are confident that you are getting the best treatment available for your situation. If not, get another opinion.
Kazzie, I'm glad you still feel hopeful. That is so important for your quality of life and well being. I know of ladies on this site who have had brain mets for a long time. As you said, there are several treatment options. Maybe talk to the ladies on the brain mets thread.
Everyone try to have a good Saturday and most importantly do what you need to feel the best you can, whether that is resting, being with your loved ones or enjoying hobbies and interests.

Mandy, I'd love to see the photo. My 3 year old niece also got a china tea set for Christmas to go with her little outdoor setting and she loves it! Must have been a must have retro gift this year!
Annette, I'd love a motor scooter but DH is dead against it.....and he might be right :-)
Good to read of the clarity for many and I hope we can all keep the beast at bay.....thinking of everyone...

oh well that gives me another day i will have to chew my nails, hubby did not ride bike home, the mechanic did not battery in and told Ron, that he was in a crap mood, so hubby left him to it. mechanic had an accident about ten years ago when he was fixing a horse float and the thing collasped and he was in intensive care for about six weeks with a head injury in a coma, and to this day he gets quite moody and very blind thumping headaches and when he is in a mood, usually the headache follows and so he has to take him self off to bed and stay there. i think he has pretty potent medication for this when it happens, usually when he is stressed as he has a brother like hubby does, domineering, thinks he is God, same type.it is a family bussiness and the bro likes his own way, eldest, there is the three of them father mechanic to, he is old now and retired and the three sons have taken it over. ,Our mechanic is the youngest, he shuts off as he can't deal things with his head injury the way it is, so you just depart and leave him to it when he has that state of mind. he is a lovely guy. very oblidging.normally.

Just finished speaking with my sister on the phone, she was telling me about her son Lewis and his family, we are fotunate to still have them. Last weekend, they were returning from Auckland and they were going about 70ks and Nardia was driving, they had their two girls, 4 and 6 in car and were goingup the Brendewn hills and got into deasel slip, the car went into a 3/60 spin and ended up on other side of road and hit a barrier,
Now they had passed heaps of cars and yet at that precise moment, apart from them selves, there was no body in either direction or they would of been all killed. the front was all pushed in and the drivers door, they got the car to top of hill and Lew and some people that stopped afterwards checked it for fuel leaks underneath and was ok, so they drove it Whangarei and he checked it again, a cop stopped them, and was going to give them a ticket, but lew told him politely where to go and expained the situation to him, so he let them off, they got back home 5 hours later and he looked under the bonnet and the radiator was pushed in and the raidator hose was bent in half.so do not know they got the the car home still together , but they did and everybody all safe,
i think they had some devine intervention with that whole situation, how there came to be no traffic at the time when the road had been so busy, cars came about 3 mins later and some people helped to get car to safe place and take the girls to the rest area.and gave them a drink. What a trip for them. they are back in Auckland today looking for a new car. that other was an old car that was built well, and that would of helped, not tin pot material that crumples easy. some new models are like sardine cans and flatten pretty easy.
on that note i am going to gave a cuppa tea.

Judy, all things big and small are important to each of us and that makes what you go through just as important as any one else's. Don't be afraid to come and let us know what is happening in your life as we all in reality tread the same path........some are just a little further ahead than others but we all understand what the other is feeling.
Oh shit Annette!!! My heart jumped into my mouth as I was reading about your nephew and his family.......there surely was an angel watching over them.........I am amazed that no one was hurt even just a little bit! So glad that they are home safely.
Just chilling while SIL and niece have popped to the shops........I'm sitting on the boys.........well not really as they are way too big for me to wrestle to the ground.........lol........I can't believe how much they have grown!!
Take care all and enjoy the weekend! Love n hugs. Chrissy

Annette what a relief everything is ok with your family.
I am 2 years out from lumpectomy and ALND. I still can't find lie on that breast or press it without discomfort and pain. Is this going to be sore for ever?
0 -
Kylie, good query. I'm just over 1 year out and mine is sore too but I can lie on it.
0 -
Kylie you may find it is because of scar tissue.....some gentle massage may help loosen it enough to give you comfort. Good luck.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

I hope everyone manages to stay cool somehow this week. We live in the mountains, so not really supposed to get this much heat, but this week is going to be horrible. I also hope anyone from Perth is safe from the fires, Karen is I think?
