Annette, yes we got smoked as well when the wind change came with the cooler air but when it changed direction again it blew it back the other way so the air is lovely and clear now. Yesterday the smell was still around, I guess everything got permitted with it but it has now had time to blow out so all is good.
Lol at you turning hubby's phone off........I bet that made your BIL hopping mad.........couldn't happen to a nicer person.....hahahahaha! Just think of Khama, what goes round comes round and usually not in a good way if it's deserved.
Tanya hoping your and your property are safe.
Jenn, have you had any word on your mums assessment yet? I do hope for both your sakes that she is assessed as needing care and placed in a nursing home..........I'm sure it would take a whole lot of pressure off your shoulders and be so much better for her.
Just relaxing watching the tennis......wow! There have been some incredible games! I can't believe some of the shots the are made and how fit the players are to get through playing in all that heat......amazing!
I'm heading back to the city tomorrow for the MRI.......it's in the afternoon so I will be staying over night with DD and then seeing doc on Tuesday afternoon......hopefully I will get some answers but I'm not holding my breath....just hoping.
Enjoy your Sunday all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

All the best for your MRI tomorrow, i will be thinking of you, we have our wellington and down the lower north island aniversay day tomorrow and therefore a long weekend for us. lol he never found out hubbys phone was off as his went flat and he probably ring mine, we do leave one on incase of emergency at the farm, but if he had found it off he would of thought it was flat, so abit of a waste of time, i was just getting cheesed off and thought blow this and turned it off, we can pause the live tv as we have MY SKY, but it was like pausing every few mins. lol and hubby was getting worked up as i could see it in his face,, he went for a walk for about ten mins and then came back, that seems to settle him, but its still hard for him to walk, so its real slow.

Hi everyone, I've been reading along and hoping for the best for everyone having tests and hoping those in pain get some relief....
Jenn, so sorry to read that you are also have to cope with your Mum's problems. I really hope she takes your calls soon...
Tanya, I hope you are safe...we were supposed to go to our country property this weekend but cancelled due to the fires. We aren't too close to the fire front but things change quickly and we don't have any means of communication there except the radio and I too am nervous overnight.....
Annette, enjoy the anniversary day!

Hi all
There's been a fire out my way today, they blocked off some of the roads out here, I had to go out this afternoon to tea with the family. There is new housing near where the fire is so hopefully it didn't get too close.
Back to work tomorrow, yuk
Carol

Hello girls
I've had a long weekend, having my fortnightly day off on Friday and the weekend was busy as usual.
I had a lot of reading to catch up - so much happening.
Karen - so glad your lumbar puncture gave a clear result, that's wonderful news, and for you every bit of wonderful news is worth catching and holding onto. Triple negative is a real bugger, you don't have the arsenal of things we triple positive girls do, just know that each day brings you closer and closer to meeting that little grandson who's almost ready to pop into the world to greet you. You are in my thoughts every single day xoxox
Kate! So good to see you pop in here - you are another in my thoughts every single day. It's ok to hibernate when you aren't well - and yes this has been a huge shock for you, we all understand. Just please come on occasionally to let us know you are ok. How did the graduation go? Yes - we are loving being back in the 'berra, saving an absolute fortune on petrol lol.
Chrissy - good luck with the MRI!
Tanya - are you ok? Hopefully the flames didn't make it to your house! Let me know next time you are in Canberra and we'll make arrangements to meet for a coffee
Jenn - you are going through a pretty rough time at the moment, I'm assuming you don't have any old friends or any other relatives over in NZ that can help out?
Gail, never think you stage IV girls upset or depress us - we want to be able to help you, and be a support to you. That's what is so wonderful about this thread, everyone is just so caring and understanding. Sending you (((hugs))) hoping you can get to your cruise and have a wonderful holiday.
Annette - hope your hubby is continuing to heal and feeling better.
Tammy - I would have been nervous going out to your country place too - way too hot and fire friendly weather. You probably don't have aircon out there either!? So a good reason to stay and relax out of the heat.
Should go and get some work done.
Love to all you girls I really hope I haven't left anyone off, but you all understand the memory thing - another great thing about this thread, we all "get" it and don't get upset if someone mixes things up or forgets to mention someone
Trish

hi girls, yummy, there is just something about freshly layed poached eggs, esp from the chook house into the pan and onto my plate lol. they were soooo Good.
Carol, yuk work. just think of the moneys and that wil help. i got to the stage when i was working that i was would dread it and then i had to change my thinking, well i am getting paid and i have a job and there is alot who cant get jobs and uaually when i get there, i had heaps of fun. i used to get in the pit abit. and now i am not working, sometimes i wish i was, but my body at the moment, would not allow me to do rest home care, i would never be able to lift the oldies now. i understand where you coming from when you say yuk lol. if you have good people to work with, makes things so much better, how is your mummy, hope things are better for her now?
Gail, you lucky thing you. hope it goes nice and smooth cruising for you.
Karen, how are you dearie, Kate you the same, hope you are ok, jenn hope things are starting to get sorted about your mum. its so hard with the distance for you, thinking of you. all xxx
Good luck Chrissy. for MRI.
hubby getting better, he not sleeping much though, he woke up and went to the loo again about seven times, since he had op, he keeps thinking he needs to wee all the time and does abit and that is ithat, an wondering if he has an infection from the catheta they put in him, like a uti infection. he has not actually got a gp, so will mention that at his clinic appointment wed. i have my six month warrant of fittness with the rads doctors that day too. hope times corespond, still waiting to hear about his time. they said they were setting one up for him wednesday.
Alyson, have not seen you, you ok? miss you girl.
p/s, just got a call from sister, mum just had fall this morning and hit her head on a rock and sore all over. i just was talking to her and she is ok, shaken up, but more annoyed with her self as her sore painful back had been almost back to normal, now its sore again. she says she is tired and bumble footed and tripping up alot. its getting to the stage where we are going to have to get St Johns alarm so that if she does fall, they send an ambulance out. she presses a button, they ring her and if they cant reach her, they send an ambulance out automaticaly. as that could be the case one day, this the 3rd spill in about three weeks. She is 80 and getting old.

Trish, I'm definitely heading your way at the end of Feb! I spoke to my brother yesterday and that works for him as well so I will see you soon! woohoo!!!
Annette if your mum is falling a lot and it sounds like she is, she may need a walking frame for stability. I always thought that they would be awkward to use but I had one when I had my knee replaced and they are very light and easy to use and give security when walking around. It might pay to talk to her about it. Glad she is okay although very sore.
Mentioning that your hubby is going to the toilet that often is quite important, in fact, I would make a phone call to the doc who did the op and let him know as if there is infection there it needs to be addressed asap.
Tanya sure hoping that all is well with you and yours.
I'm leaving for the city in about 30 mins........I am so not looking forward to the MRI as I get a little clostrophobic........just need to try and chill.......breath in.......breath out......make a rhythm from the noises of the machine........I really hope it doesn't take too long. Can you tell I will be glad when it it's done?.......lol.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Whoohoo Chrissy - looking forward to seeing you again.
Can you take a valium before the MRI? I'm lucky that I don't have a problem with claustrophobia, my problem is lying still lol.

mum says she is sore and has a lump behind right ear, she will go to doc in the morning. yes i will mention that Chrissy re walker, so she will probably say, i dont need that. lol, she can be stubourn,
man did we get a shake this arvo, it sounded like a freight train coming in the house amd tjhe house rocked, it was a 6.3 quake centered in Eketahuna, our little shop down the road had a mess to clean up, with every thing had fallen off the shelves, the super market closed early. probably a mess to clean up as well. not safe enough i guess. Eketahuna is about 45 minutes away from us south towards masterton. half way point.. b ut it was a good strong jolt and very noisy. the cats eyes were like saucers, very large. and they all took off, but they coming back now. its very scarey at the time.

MRI all done and the lad who had to stick me did it so well that I didn't even feel it!.....woohoo! I wanted to package him up and keep him with me ready for the next one whenever that is......lol. Get this, no bruising either!!!!
I pick up the results in the morning and then go see my doc after lunch and depending on what it says we will discuss what can be done......if anything.
Trish I got the new machine so not nearly as noisy as the old one and they gave me the eye mask as well as ear plugs. I'm learning to just concentrate on the noises and find rhythms in them which relaxes me to the point I almost fell asleep.........so no need for drugs, besides I have to drive so not a good thing to take if you are getting behind the wheel of a car.
Back at DDs now so ready to relax and catch up on what's happened at the tennis today.
Take care all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Chrissy, sending positive thoughts for a good result..... When I had an MRI last year I had to concentrate to stay awake so I didn't move around in my sleep..lol.
Annette, the quake must have been frightening....I saw some of the damage on TV....maybe it was your little shop... Hope your Mum is OK...
Trish, air con at the property?? We don't even have electricity!!
Take care everyone....

Trish - you are rigt that there isn't anyone that can help apart from Mum's oldest friend who is herself 82.
Annette - I organised one of those alarms for my mother. It costs $86 a month for the monitoring unit, necklace and the service.

Annette I got my hubby a 'walker' which didnt look like one. It has two trays and is used the same way but he was able to put his tea or books etc on the trays and be independent without him feeling embarrassed. We got it from one of the shops which sells walkers. It gets used often but I can sit it against the wall with a pretty bowl on it and it looks like a shelf. I hope that made some sense.

Hi girls been reading along and hoping and praying that all of you having scans and treatments get a good result. I have just got back from a weekend at my brothers for my lovely niece Chloe's wedding. It was a lovely weekend with much joy and happiness after the horrible week of hot weather it was wonderful to have some cool relief and feel normal .

Wow! Which one is the bride?........oh, I see it's the one in the long dress......lol. Beautiful girl, must take after her aunt.........looking good! I love her dress! Lace must be the fashionable thing as my DD had a lace wedding dress as well.
Nice to see you back and a little bit cooler.
Love n hugs. Chrissy

What a gorgeous bride love the dress - the bride's aunty looks pretty good too lol.
Chrissy glad you weren't too bad with the MRI - I usually concentrate on the sounds and the rhythms they make too - they are quite interesting. Keeping everything crossed that you get some answers today.
Tanya - how are you going? Hoping you still have a house after seeing flames??
All good here, it's nice that the weather's a lot cooler, although they are predicting another heatwave next month Last week was a record breaker for Canberra, so I'm hoping the next heatwave is not as bad. Been enjoying the tennis though - it's lovely to sit in a cool room and watch some great matches. I have to giggle when the ref is the black man with a french accent who has the deepest voice I've ever heard, I enjoy him more than the tennis sometimes.
Tammy - didn't think you'd have electricity at your property lol!

Morning all just popping in quickly as I have a report which must be written today. !!!
Had the weekend in Wanganui and heard DD1 sing which was lovely. It was tempered by sad news. The folks who had invited us to attend the opera heard on the Friday that their DiL has mets everywhere and it will only be a matter of time, they had known things where bad and that she had it in her bones. Myfanwy is just over 40 and has three small children. I hate this bloody disease.
Big big hugs to all

Oh Aly, I am so saddened by your friends news........that is just so wrong that another young mum is taken with this disease ..........yeah, cancer sure does suck!!!!
Glad you got enjoy listening to DD sing, she has such a glorious voice!
Sending love n hugs. Chrissy

Firstly thanks ladies for the info i can give to mum, jenn my sister in Whangarei is looking into the alarm thing i think. mum has a large egg behind her right ear, after hitting her head, i am just frightened if she fell at night or when sis is away as they often do and i am about ten hours away and the other sis lives in hokianga, so she would be by herself. she just texted me and is alot better today
Chrissy, hope everything is ok with your results for you.
they closed our local big supermarket, countdown as some roof beams came down and with after shocks and if after shocks happened and one fell down and killed somebody they would be in mega trouble. we had a farm fences that came down at farm and bil top window smashed up stairs. it was a pain anyhow. so he wil have to get another one put in. mainly shops got damaged in our area, some people were not as lucky.
Aly, sorry to hear about yr friend's daughter, that is sad. getting really scary that so many people are getting mets even with lower grade dx, and what i mean is, like mine, stage1a, they have progressed to mets. but there grade is lower and they still get mets, its so devastating, and some that start like mine with high grade 3 and dont go any further with getting mets, its so sad. thats some are getting them and seems heaps are that you hear about, not on here so much though. its mainly friends of people on here, mind you i hope i dont get them, i am not any different and could still get them, we are all vonarable. and after yesterdays earth quake everybodys. life is so fragile now.
that is a Beautiful photo Delsvy, you both look gorgeous.
well hope everybody is ok, must go and make some phone calls and order some stock food. have a good day.
I got word today that i am having my pre op on friday check and surgery next thurdsay, tho i do not know the times as yet of either appointment. so he and i both having and had surgery in same month.

oh Aly.....that I just too sad, the bad news just seems to keep coming this year.
On a happy note, that is a beautiful pic of Delvzy & her niece
I've just come from the onc, was meant to have chemo but it seems the Epirubicin isn't working.....cancer markers have doubled since Xmas...... I'm feeling so sad & frustrated, it's just like why is this happening to me??? Anyway, now I get more scans on Tuesday to see where the damage is being done......he is hoping not liver but I have a feeling it is...... Then on Thursday I try yet another chemo.....Navelbine this time. Anyone been on that one.
On a happier note, I'm going to Sydney for a girlie weekend so hopefully cancer will be able to get put on the back burner!!
Thanks again for listening to my bad news.......
Karen xxxxx

Absolutely love the photo Delvzy.
Aly such sad news
Karen, sorry the Epi didn't work so well, I will keep fingers crossed for your new one. Have a great visit to Sydney.
Chrissy how are you going? X
0 -
Hi girls! Just got home so here's the news. MRI came back clear for mets and nerve impingement so still no answers for pain but happy with the all clear. I'm going to try some PT to try and build up strength as doc thinks tissue and muscle damage with inflammation of the tendon could well be the cause and strengthening may help.........I'll give it a try and if after a couple of months I don't get any relief it's back to see him. If relief comes then I don't need to see him until July.
Of shit Karen!!! So sorry to hear that the Epi didn't work.......what a bugger! Keeping everything crossed that there isn't too much damage and the Navelbine works wonders! I remember Marybe had Navelbine and I think it was one of the chemos that worked well.......anyway, good luck!
Have a ball in Sydney with the girls!!!
Need a cuppa so I'll catch up later. Take care all!
Love n hugs. Chrissy

Aly, it's sad enough when young and old women loose their lives to cancer, but when they have a young family its shocking.
Karen you know how I feel about your progression, you must be feeling very frightened as we all would. I just hope you can gather your inner strength and manage to get through this. Love Gail xxx

karen, so sorry to hear that chemo not working. really hope that this one that they going to try does the miracle thing and work well.. go and have a good weekend now with the girls. thinking of you always. love Annette
Chrissy. very glad your mri came back clear. now just to get a reason for the pain. hope they can sort it out.
Hubby went to clinic and he is ok, can start to do things, but little at a time, the freqwent passing of urine is just the urinry track getting back to normal as they were operating they had to clamp the tubes while they operated around it, so the little bits is just getting back to normal, no worries.
i went to my rads doc and she going to do a bone scan, as i have been getting really sore bones, well ribs and back and legs. standing for than 5 mins is agony, so she will check. she was not pleased however that info about me having unusual bleeding and iy was not passed on to her, i told the thyroid doctor, and thought he had passed it on to them. i should of rang them, but i have done that before and got fobbed off and ringing the breast cancer nurse, i could never get to talk to her and she would never return my calls. so i gave up. hubby told her that, and she was not thrilled about that neither that they never get back to me. she said, to ring and leave her a message and she will be telling them that as well. as they are the ones responsilble for the tammoxifen. she said, its not my fault, at least i am getting it sorted. but they are not comunicating with her, ie the other docs. I just had subway for lunch and i am mighty thirsty. so will go and get a cuppa. cheers/ Annette

Bugger Karen, I hope the Navelbine kicks arse for a long time for you (((hugs)))
Chrissy - well at least it's not more mets, that's good. You and I are now in the same boat, sort of - pain with no explanation.
I've just had the worst two days of pain I've ever had. Had to go home early on Tuesday as the pain went from niggly to full blown OMG this hurts! I'm at work this morning as it has eased somewhat, and will see how I go. I was taking two panadeine forte every four hours that kept it down enough to be bearable, then yesterday I took a valium with it and that helped more. So took another last night and this morning I felt I could at least get up and come to work.
I had decided if it was as bad today I'd just go to emergency, so still have that option I guess. I don't have my colonoscopy till 7 Feb which is two weeks away. I don't think there's much point in going back to the dr as I've already had all the tests they can think of. So will see how I go today.
Hope everyone else is going ok
Trish

Trish, as I said to my doc, pain does not appear for no reason there is always a reason we just have to find it. We have used the big guns now we go back to basics and it's a process of elimination for me. I do so hope they find out why you are in such pain........remember there is always a reason you just have to keep looking. ((((((hugs)))))
This was my good morning this morning......sunrise.
The town is at the moment abuzz as Russel Crow and his film crew are here shooting for his next movie. He and his props directors have been in the shop a few times as they have used some of DH's stuff ........all very exciting!.....lol.
Hope you all have a good day. Love n hugs. Chrissy
